Authorization Errors from BEx queries

We are developing Crystal reports on top of BEx queries. We are working on BO XI 3.1 FP2.8, Crystal Reports FP2.8 and SAP Integration Kit FP2.8 and SAP BW is BI 7.0 Suppport pack 5.0. How can we display the Authorization errors that are returned on BEx queries on the Crystal reports.
If i run the Crystal reports and if it comes back empty, there can be 2 reasons one no Data and second no proper authorizations. We want to display a mesage to users to tell them the report is empty either becaus of no data or Authorization error.

Edit LOV of objects in universes build from Bex Queries

Hi,
We are creating webi from universes build from Bex Queries.
Can anyone please tell me, is there any way to edit list of values for the objects in universes coming from Bex though i can see that option for edit/display LOV is greyed out.
for eg-- i am having a prompt calendar day at the Bex level which is coming as filter in Universe but it is not showing me the values of dates for future years rather it's showing me the till date values (means upto current date of current month).
As per my requirement, i want all the values for the future years also(can say..wanna see calendar to select any value) so that user can select from it.

When i see the code of object in object properties i receive a calendar for only one prompt (Key date of the query as its data type is "D") but for other prompt (Inventory 1 to inventory 11) the data type is alphanumeric "A". and i receive only till date values not a calendar to select value.

Error from bex query while executing in portal

while executing the query bex analyzer, is working ok but the same query when executing in portal is throwing the following error:

Authorization Error when running queries built on IP Aggregation Levels

Hi,
Did anyone encountered this kind of issue.
We are in NW04s SP 9.
When running a query built on Integrated Planning aggregation levels getting authorization error
" Do not have authorization Component !! ARMMGASL ". (ARMMGASL is the name of Multi Provider)
Queries built directly on Multi Provider "ARMMGASL" works fine.
Security trace doesn't show any failures
Any help or info on this highly appreciated.

No authorization error in Bex report

Hi
When i open an workbook i get the selection screen and when i select values and execute i get an message" warning you dont have sufficient authorization"
When i click close button on the message the work book opens up but with out output (values) instead i get you dont have sufficient authorization. I checked in for authorizations in Su01 and su53 every thing looks fine.
NOte: I was able to open this report couple of days back
Can someone help me out in this issue?

who's assigned the role to you. he is having the authorization rights to change these and all. please check out with that. if you having the rights to modify means go to your role change the authorization. otherwise contact your role head.

Hi,
at the moment, the desktop can only "visualise" BW results in an online manner, and not "prepare", "compose" or "share" (i.e. the other main workflows)
the next implementation will be a 'download from bw' where the dataset will be queried down and stored in the local client.
either way, the authorizations concept will be the same - when the user connects from lumira to BW, they use a named user and password to connect to a BW SID (dropdown info coming from the SAPGUI logon pad)
then the Bex queries are accessible either by Roles or Infoareas
Bex Variables are handled in the manner you would expect - they are called when the connection to the query is established, mandatory ones are enforced, processed by authorizations etc (much like Webi, Crystal or Analysis via BICS)

BEx queries - one or more SQL statements generated?

Iu2019m a BusinessObjects man and BEx is new to meu2026When you execute a BEx query against a cube u2013 how does BEx manage that query and what gets send to the backend DB (e.g. Oracle)?
I understand the cube is one table in Oracle?, but other tables (dimensions?) will also be needed to return all the data for a given report/query.
Does BEx pass that as one query to Oracle, or is it performed as separate queries, with BEx pulling the result sets together?

Thank you to both of you for your response to Ed on this thread. The background to these questions on how SQL statements are generated from BEx queries that we are working with Ed in a project to test the capability of accelerating the performance of BEx queries via the following process described below. (Please excuse any terminology errors as like I do not have a background in SAP):
1. Export fact table InfoObjects relevant to queries for InfoCubes to be accelerated by defining as Open Hub destinations, creating mappings and a data transfer process. Trigger export from SAP BI via a Process Chain and then load data to external database via ETL tool. Master data (dimension tables) remain in SAP BI
This step was completed successfully, including exporting of data.
2. Create a Universal Data Connect (UDC) source system to map to the exported fact tables.
3. Create a virtual provider mapping to the UDC source defined in step 2 to enable access to external table via JDBC.
4. Execute BEx report, selecting the query properties 'Cache inactive' and 'Reading all data at once', specifying restrictions (variables) in the report which would result in a small subset of data being returned from the fact table if applied in the SQL passed to the external database.
We hoped that SAP BI would push down predicates which could be applied to the fact table into the SQL sent to the external database via the virtual provider, but instead an SQL query selecting all columns with no WHERE clause was generated with the result that a 36 million row results set was sent across a network to join with dimension data, rather than a few rows.
Is this how SAP BI works in version 7.0 or are there configuration options which can change this behaviour? Is so, if all tables (including master data (dimensions) were exported to external database would SAP BI then transmit the database queries as joins to the external database?

No authorization error in BI7

Recently we had migrated to the new authorization concept in BI7 after that, when the business users open an query or workbook they get the selection screen and when they press F4 on company code info object (Authorization relevant object) to select values they get an message" you dont have sufficient authorization" and the out put does not get displayed. but as an BW developer i am able to open the same report without any error
I checked in for authorizations in Su01 and su53 every thing looks fine for the business user.
Note: This error occurs only to queries having infoobject company code
Can someone help me out in this issue?

Hi sheetal,
I am facing the same problem what you have faced regarding authorization error in BI queries.
when users try to open the workbook, select their options in selection screen and run it, they get warning 'you do not have sufficient authorizations'. when i try to run the same, i am able to open it. this is happening in prod.
how are you able to solve this problem.

SAP BW Bex Queries as Data source WIS 10901 Error while refreshing

I have created a Web Intelligence report based on Universe upon SAP BEx queries.
When I refresh the report, I get the following error:
A database error occured. The database error text is: the supplied XML is not valid. [Measures].[4ASYKV5XU5T].(WIS 10901)
Report was fine for a day. I started showing error from today.
This is my first report and Universe based on SAP BEx queries. I do not have knowledge of SAP system as well.

It is because that Measure object definition changed @BEx. Measures.4ASYKV5XU5T
Can you check @BEx query for any latest changes??
OR
Go to Universe Designer:
1. Open Universe
2. View == Refresh Structure
3. Can you see any updates now?? OK
4. Save Universe
5. Export it
Now open the Report. It will work now, if all Objects are there at Bex query & Universe level.
Along with this Do integrity check @Universe also before exporting.

BW BEX Queries and Analysis Authorizations

Hello....
Have an opportunity with BW BEX queries and Analysis Authorization...would like to see if anyone has had the same experience and if so is there a answer....
1) given a query....
2) given a analysis authorization with a info-object that has intervals defined to be both single values and ranged values
the following happens...
after the query is fired the starter screen appears...the info-object in question appears with the defined single values only....if....the window is opened....again only the single values appear...the range values do not appear...once the query is executed the only results given are those for the single values...
also if you re-fire the query and manually enter a valid value for the info-object that falls with-in any of the range values no result is given...even if there is data for it....the reponse given is no data found....
NOW...if the single values, for the given info-object, are removed from the Analysis Authoriization then the range values appear and work....
Is this a problem within in the query...or...is this a "feature" of the query...and thus must be "lived" with...

PS...this problem currently only happens if the window for the info-object allows for multi-selection....this problem does not occurr when the window only allows for one selection...

This is a known problem with analysis authorization and multi selection IO selection criteria.
When you define the analysis authorization with ranges and when you try to enter single values on the selection critera of the query, then the system shows zero data.
You can run the query without entering any selection values for the IO in question only.
I have tried several combinations and still encountering the same issue.

Go to Business explorer>Analyzer>Business Explorer-->Installation check and click on Start button.
You will be able to know if its properly installed or not.

1.How can you design a optimized universe from SAP BEx queries in the sense which gives you more performance
2.What are the differences between Non SAP sources like Oracle,SQL and SAP sources in designing the Universe.
3.Can we create a Derived table from an SAP source because i know that the Schema is not created for BEx queries,cubes.
4.What are the advantages of having oracle as a source then SAP source.

1. Check Ingos Blog on SDN ther are some PDF for performance regarding WebI on BW
2. On RDBMS Source you have to design your universe. On OLAP Source like BW you generate the Universe and cant customize it a lot.
4. Good question. In a BW all your logic is already in place. On a RDBMS you have to build your logic in a universe. But there are a lot of differences.

Authorization error when syncing apps from iphone to mac, mac to iphone

I am having this error with both apps I've synced from my iPhone to my Mac, and one I purchased from ITunes (which as a side problem, I can not sync to my iPhone no matter what I try). I have one iTunes account and it is the same on my computer and on my iPhone. However, the one I bought on my mac I can't authorize on my computer, and I can't sync some back because I get this same error message (I have all the latest software on phone and Mac):
THERE WAS AN ERROR STORING YOUR AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION ON THIS COMPUTER
The required directory was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions can not be changed.
Is this just becuase these apps aren't made to USE on a computer? Because that would make sense. I'm just worried it has something to do with the app I purchased on ITunes not syncing back to my iPhone.

I created a new user on my macbook and tried to authorize the computer but got the same authorization error. This doesn't have to do with the fact that I have once used a different iTunes account? (not since I have had the iPhone. I have tried to figure out how to delete this but it looks as if apple doesn't want me to.) Plus, it's the same email as my dot mac which I've ALSO been having trouble with the past few months-- it keeps resetting on its own and my keychain and iphone can't get into it. online chat has not solved the problem so i decided to just let it expire...

Chart from data with two bex queries in crystal reports 4.0 for enterprise

I'm fairly new to crystal reports and I have a requirement to show the data from 2 bex queries in one single cross table. is it possible ?
after getting it i should be able to create chart with that data
Eg: my table would be something like below :
               calendar day
Input     : 12      34     50     60
Output : 09     23     19     57
Input Data will be coming from one bex query
Out put data comes from another bex query
is it possible to merge the dimensions and then work on ????

Hi Tanveer,
The only way you can add two BEx queries in a report is using a Subreport. The First BEx query goes in the Main Report and the second one goes in the Subreport.
You'll not be able to add the dimensions and measures from these two BEx queries in a Crosstab anyway. Perhaps, you could create a mock crosstab and send values (all rows) from the Main Report to the Subreport as a string however, I can see that it's going to get complex.
