Authorware Title in Task Bar

I have just completed my first application using Authorware
and everything works fine. The only thing I noticed is that when I
launch the application from the computer desktop, "Authorware"
first appears in the task bar for about a second before the title
of my application appears. Looking at the timing of its appearance,
I believe it may have something to do with the use of the cover
function which was placed at the start of the application. Is there
a way to prevent that from happening?

Sort of. It's not a recommended thing, but you can do it
fairly easily.
Find a Resource String Editor. Use it to open your packaged
Authorware file.
You should find, towards the very top of string table, the
name Authorware
that you can edit to something else. Note that there is a
tight limit on the
permitted number of characters - go over that and you break
the executable
file completely and must repackage your application.
Note that there are ways for you to control the title seen
once the file has
launched, but they suffer from the same issue you already see
- Authorware
is seen initially in the title bar.
Most people will not notice, or will simply not care.

  • Hide the title bar on the task bar of a JFrame

    Hi all,
I have create a JFrame with some controls and implement the functionality on it. Now I want to make some modification on the JFrame(actually on the GUI)
On the visible of JFrame I can see a title bar of the GUI on the taskbar of my screen. I want to stop/hide that when the JFrame is visible. How can I possible to do it.
I used Netbeans and there I've not found such a option.
    Thanks

  • When right-clicking firefox in the task bar... v5 does NOT open a new tab, or open a new window when selected. Only crtl-N opens a new window iff Firefox is the active window.

Today FF 5.0 was DL-d and installed (automatic update is/was active). Help->About-> shows version 5.0, and there were no problems with the install.
I have ASUS G72 running W7 with the latest MS updates via auto-update.
FF is pinned to the task bar.
Previous version(s) allowed for opening new windows and tabs by right click of FF icon on task bar, and selecting "Mozilla FireFox" (which opened new window) , or selecting "Open New Window." Opening a new tab in the current session could be done by selecting "Open New Tab."
These features do not operate in the latest version (5.0), or have I fumbled the ball (by not having something set right in this version.
Thanks in advance for you help. Keep up the great work.

If you have tabs on top and no menu then the tabs are in a "Windows" area so there is no space to right. If you put tabs back to the bottom you will have most of your old behavior but because of the changes to tabs on top most of the tab context menu stuff all of the context menu part was lost except the customize toolbar stuff, double-clicking on an empty spot was restored, and eventually during the FF 4 beta most of the tab extensions Firefox messed up eventually worked again except in the area to the right of the tabs.
The Windows part of that double-click has to maximize or restore to normal,
and you have to be able to drag the window by it;'s title bar.
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]

  • Task bar question

    Hi,
i have developed a program in which the user opens often new windows (new frames)to do different jobs .how can i make the java frames not to show their names in the task bar just like the showOptionPane dialog. when you open such a dialog even when it has a title it will not be shown in the task bar.
    thanx

    Hi pietblok,
    what do you mind with
Your main JFrame should maintain a reference to those dialogs so that it can reshow them when they are being closed by the user and the user wants them to redisplay.
do you mind with that, that every time the user clicks over a button(which creates a new window)a new object should be created so a new JDialog and so a new window in the screen?
    thanx for the help

  • Hiding windows task bar

I am working on a custom TS operator interface written in CVI 5.5. I am trying to hide the windows task bar. I have used
    SetPanelAttribute (panel, ATTR_SYSTEM_MENU_VISIBLE, 0);
and this works, except that when my modelsupport DLL puts a popup on the screen, the taskbar becomes visible again while the popup is present. How can I stop this?

    Hi Byron,
I have tried to reproduce the problem you are describing and it seems to work fine for me. One thing I am somewhat confused by is that you say you used the SetPanelAttribute call to hide the "windows taskbar". I believe you are actually talking about the "system menu" that is accessed via the icon on the left side of a window's title bar, as the "windows task bar" is actually the floating menu bar displayed at the bottom of the Window's desktop and contains the infamous Start menu.
Anyhow, I have created an example TS 2.0.1 sequence file that calls a CVI dll which spawns a new thread and displays a panel that has the system menu hidden. If you run the sequence you will see that when the modelsupport.dll displays the modal UUT serial number dialo
g and pass/fail banner dialogs, it does not change the visibility of the system menu displayed by the CVI dll UI. (the reason I create new threads to display the dialog is so that the call to the dll does not wait on RunUserInterface to complete and returns execution to the sequence file immediately).
**Note: The dll project was created in CVI 6.0, and the sequence file in TS 2.0.1, please state what versions of CVI and TS you are using if you want help with a specific version. You do not need TS 2.0.1 to use the dll I created, just simply call the lone function in the dll in a sequence file with the CVI adapter and run the file with Test UUTs in whatever version of TS you have. Since the dll was created in CVI 6.0 you may need to install the CVI 6.0 RTE, which is available on ni.com under the downloads section, and it is fully compatible with previous versions of CVI.
So, just give this a shot to see if you can discern anything from it.

  • Task bar in reader 9.5

What happened to the Task Bar in reader x.  Also how do you create a bookmark, and change the title after you create it.  What about protecting your file with a password, I can't do it with reader x.

So... I'm guessing that you didn't used to have Reader, but had Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro. This looks the same... but can do the things you remember doing.

  • Magically Changing Icons on M$ Task Bar

    Hi,
In Windows XP (Windows NT), when you open multiple windows of a program, the programs become inconisized and grouped together under one menu icon with a name. For instance, opening Windows Explorer multiple times creates a menu on the task bar that displays the Windows Explorer Icon, the number of windows open, and the title of the program--Windows Explorer.
However, when I run my Java programs multiple times (or make many frames within a program) and iconisized them, they appear on the task bar as a menu with a little white window icon with a blue title, the number of windows (frames) open, and "java" or "javaw" beside it.
I know how to add icons to frames that is not the problem. What I don't know is how to keep my icon and application name on the task bar when windows (frames) or applications become grouped.
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Spent 4 hours looking all over Sun's site, trying to find an answer. I've even tried to download some open source programs and tried to disect them to find the code. Sample code would be greatly appreciated.

    J Apprentice,
XP groups these together because they are using the same executable (java.exe). The name which appears in the taskbar group is gained for the exe's description attribute (take a look at the exe's properties from explorer) or , failing that, the name of the executable. The only way around this is to create a JNI wrapper executable which links to the JVM and calls your main method instead of executing java.exe. (BTW this is how java.exe works anyway). Some java installers create these wrappers for you.

  • After install task bar items have dissapeared

Since updating Firefox to Version 8, as the updated version loaded my task ber icons have lost the associations and now appear as a whie unknown file typr icon.

Understand the problem is your Windows 7 icons are messed up at least for MS Office, view is from selecting "All programs" from the Windows Start. It seems a bit far-fetched that Firefox would have changed icons on other applications, and to have dropped all of them in Office at once. If I understand correctly the Office applications all work and show up separately on the Windows Task Bar, but they have a generic application icon. Does it affect more than Office. Does this loss of the correct icon affect programs directly on the Start Menu and/or desk top and/or the Quick Launch.
It's been 4 days since you first posted. If you haven't rebooted your system since you had the problem, would you try that.
    Looks like a solution here:
:Rebuild icon cache in Windows 7

    If the problem recurs:
:Icons randomly change to different icons:

Separate problem, looks to me like you are pinning tasks to Windows Task Bar, because Windows 7 hid the Quick Launch. You can still use Quick Launch and have folders within it.

If you don't like the order applications open up on the Windows Task Bar you can drag to rearrange the order. Items within the Quick Launch can be sorted via context menu.

  • Disguised Windows task bar if executable is running.

    Hi,
I configured my vi in such a way that the Windows task bar is disguised while the vi is running. However, after I built an executable with the application builder, the Windows task bar remains visible while the exe is running. Why's that? How can I make the Windows task bar to vanish if the executable is running? I'd like to have the full screen modus, if the program runs.
    Thanks,
    Peter

I'm not seeing the title bar when I run an exe in which it was removed in configuring the windows appearance. When you are building the application, check the settings under "VI settings" to make sure that they agree with what you configured in the vi itself.
I built a very simple vi and when it runs there is a borderless frontpanel (see attached)

  • Preventing a JFrame/dialog from showing in the task bar & gaining focus.

As the (lengthly) title suggested, I would like to know if it is possible to create a JFrame or JDialog that can run (more or less) on its own without appearing in the task bar or gaining focus when setVisible() is called.
Anyone know how to do this, or have better Google search term to use than the ones I thought up? ;-)

The point is for it to stay visible (normally) when when it is not hidden (it is hidden for ~1 second to take a screenshot) and then shown again. The problem with this is that the application currently in focus loosees it (which is very annoying when typing...).
I'm trying to make a 'desktop button' of sorts that just acts as a tray icon when the system tray isn't supported. I put some effort into making it have a transparent background, but by doing that setVisible() is called every 15 seconds or so. (the frame is alwaysOnTop as well), thus the reason that I don't want the focus to be taken.
As for not showing in the system tray, I don't really need it although it would certainly make the icon better.
With that said, is there some way to accomplish this?
    Thanks for the quick reply!

  • 4.0 EA2 Bug - Icon on Task Bar Cannot Be Repositioned

After pinning the new icon to the task bar I tried to move it to a new position next to the SQLDeveloper icon.  When I start to move it the right click menu shows up and the icon will not move.  This was not a problem on 4.0 EA1.

I'm on windows 8.1 and visual studio 2013.
I set an application icon in properties for the project.
I set the icon to the mainwindow in markup:
    <Window
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    xmlns:local="clr-namespace:wpf1"
    x:Class="wpf1.MainWindow"
    Icon="Graphicloads-100-Flat-2-Bank.ico"
    Title="MainWindow" Height="650" Width="525" :
I then change that icon for the main window ( the first window loaded is the main window ).
    private void Button_Click(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e)
    this.Icon = new BitmapImage(new Uri("pack://application:,,,/wpf1;component/IconbestHelldesignDevilmad.ico"));
I see the exe with a bank icon initially.
When I run the app I see a bank icon on the top left of my window and the taskbar.
When I clilck the button both change immediately.
Both my icons are resources in the app, but that shouldn't really matter.
There's a load of other junk in the app from previous experiments
But... I zipped it up and stuck a copy on onedrive.
    http://1drv.ms/1A0046A
Note that this is something which used to be a bug in previous versions of visual studio.
Whilst debugging in vs, the icon didn't change.
    Hope that helps.

I think I know what you mean, but if you think about it, what is Windows actually running?
Windows itself, is running the java or javaw program, hence why the menu bar is displaying java or javaw, plus the number of instances of the program that you have open. Much like 5 or 6 instances of Explorer being grouped, 5 or 6 instances of java would be grouped (by the wya, I'm guessing here, coz I don't use XP).
However, if the main jFrame for each of these java programs has been correctly assigned a title, does that not make a difference with regards to what is actually displayed on the taskbar???
    Anyone else got an idea?
