Auto-Accept Script for FaceTime for Mac?

Would it be possible to create an applescript that will auto-accept a FaceTime invitation? I would like to be able to check in on my home when I'm away, and this would make perfect sense.
I understand that when this script is active, I would not be able to accept FaceTime invitations on my iPhone, since all FaceTime devices ring at once: causing this script to interfere. I would set FaceTime to use a separate email address, one that only I know, and only I would call; this clears the interference in invitations and this would keep unwanted persons from being able to see my home as well...
The computer entering sleep mode would also be a problem, but a script could change that, or in my case, my Mac won't enter sleep on its own...

Great news Brandon! I figured it out! Facetime will now quit 10 seconds after an inactive call, and the script will continue to run. Keep in mind, if someone knows your facetime email or appleID you have setup with this computer, they to can see what you see if they call.
Here's the updated code:
*-- START SCRIPT HERE --*
repeat
tell application "System Events" to set theCount to the count of (processes whose name is "Facetime")
if theCount = 0 then
do shell script "sleep 1"
else
tell application "FaceTime" to activate
do shell script "sleep 2"
tell application "FaceTime" to activate
tell application "System Events" to tell process "FaceTime"
if name of front window contains "with" then
do shell script "sleep 5"
else
tell application "System Events" to activate application "FaceTime"
keystroke return
do shell script "sleep 5"
-- Check to see if call is active
tell application "System Events" to tell process "FaceTime"
if name of front window contains "with" then
do shell script "sleep 5"
else
-- Check to see if call is not active
tell application "FaceTime" to quit
do shell script "sleep 5"
end if
end tell
end if
end tell
end if
end repeat

  • Problems with Freehand Illustrator CS4 script for Macs

A couple of us just downloaded the new Freehand to Illustrator CS4 script for Macs that was released on 5/17/10. Sometimes it works okay, but more often than not we get errors like 'ERROR: 1, Access is denied'. If we instead just open the Freehand file, the file comes in fine. What have been other people's experiences using this new script?
    Mac OS X 10.5.5

Is the problem there only at the time of conversion or even the FH files are not opening after running the script
Here is what I have done and may be you can follow the exact steps :
    1) Create a folder FH on Desktop and paste only the FH files in the folder( My folder does not contain any other file apart from FH files)
    2) Create a Folder AI  on Desktop and keep it empty
    3) File-> Scripts-> FreehandToAI
    4) Select the source folder( FH)
    5) Now select the destination folder(AI)
It gives the message after conversion "N freehand files are converted to AI".

  • Auto accept script error

Any idea why ichat 5 gives me an error on the auto accept script every time I run it ? I want to leave the auto accept on permanently but its not letting me.

Click on the App in Applications.
Do a Get Info from the File Menu of the Finder (or the keystrokes listed)
If you have a Core 2 Duo Processor it will offer the option so start in 32 Bit mode.

  • Does anyone have access to the Roadrunner dial up script for Mac?

    Hello,
I'm getting authentication error when connecting to Roadrunner through their dial up service. I'm told I need a dial up script. The URL they provided leads to a file not found error.
I would also appreciate knowing where I would put this script once I get it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Mark

There is no dial-up script for RR. There's a dial-up script for the modem you are using, and that's selected in the modem configuration through Network preferences.
Authentication errors occur when the userid and/or password provided for the dial-up account are not correct. They are not caused by the dial-up script itself unless RR uses some sort of non-standard authentication dialog. It's been a long time since I ever used their dial-up, but I don't recall they used a non-standard dialog at the time.
In earlier versions of OS X it was possible to open the dial-up terminal manually so you could observe the remote dialog and enter responses to the dial-in procedure. You could then save the resulting dialog into a login script that would be used once the dial-up connection was made. Unfortunately, I haven't used dial-up in several years, so I'm afraid I'm not much help in this regard. You could do some exploring in Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu to see if you find a help article.

  • Auto accept script reports -1708 error on startup

    Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if I was the only one experiencing a -1708 error when using the Auto accept apple script. I'm tired of always accepting chat invitations / messages, so I turned on the script. Now it's reporting a -1708 error. I tried to open the script and delete everything exept the message portion to see if it made a differnce, but nothing. I saw on a other thread to turn iChat in 32bit mode, but I don't have that option in my Get Info window.
Can anybody help this is very frustrating!
    Thnaks !

    Hi,
    The wording looks right.
Is the Alerts section set like this "
I have selected the Auto Response AppleScript.
You appear to have a stripped down version.
The Original Poster in the other thread had not got this bit correct.
I have one set for Video Started
When I changed my Status message After it had been set by the AppleScript I got the Error message on trying to run another AppleScript on Chat End to reset the Status Message.
There may be other causes but this was what I found so far on a Search

  • Running Maintenance Scripts for Mac OS 10.5.8 HELP!

I am trying to run the maintenance scripts on my laptop for the first time. I go to Terminal type in "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" and hit return. A warning message pops up the some data may be lost.... and the the Password prompt comes up. I back up consistently so I just want to run the scripts since it has never been done. However, when I try to type in my password, NOTHING types. I hit return and tried again, but nothing. Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong and if there is any other maintenance I need to do to the system?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't need to use any utility, or perform any procedure, to make sure OS X's built-in maintenance tasks have run under OS X 10.5 and later.
OS X 10.5 will run its cron jobs automatically (actually, they are no longer handled by the UNIX facility "cron", they are now handled by a similar facility called "launchd". if that means anything to you) whether you have left your computer on all night or not. You no longer need a utility to run missed maintenance as of OS X 10.5. It will run automatically at the next available opportunity. Actually, this was the case as of OS X 10.4, but a bug kept the maintenance routines from running more than once per restart under OS X 10.4. This was fixed in OS X 10.5

  • HELP : Auto. Script for ID3 tags

I have songs named in Chinese.
I tried everything but iTunes never learnt how to read them.
Anyways I have a new strategy, since all my mp3 files are named in this
    format : " 'ARTIST' - 'SONG' "
for ex. if I have a mp3 file:
    " Ken - My Song.mp3 "
ID3 Artist : Ken , Title: My Song
I want the computer to recognize this format in the filename and change the ID3 automatically. Maybe by copy & pasting or whatever.
This way, all my songs will be readable and no more converting between unicode or whatever.
I know this can be done through Automator or some other program.
But I have n0 knowledge in programming. Can anyone tell me where I could find an answer?
    Thanks and Regards

I believe that in order for your deck to show this info, the RF transmitter used has to receive the info and transmit it. If Creative supported sending the info to transmitters, perhaps the transmitter manufacturers would support the transmission.
I've heard that Creative, Microsoft and several others are working on a standard connector to digitally transfer music, UI, and control of devices to car decks for all non-iPod devices. This would be even better. Has anyone else heard of this?

  • PSE 8 for Mac stuck on "preparing to install"

    Hi all,
Just received the disk of PSE 8 for Mac as a present.  I try to install and it gets stuck on "preparing to install."
    Equipment:  MacBook Pro  Running 10.6.2
Have Lightroom 2, Lightrroom 3 Beta, Acrobat 8 Pro, Flash Player and Community Help Client
Previously i bought and downloaded PSE 8 but I had the same issue.  I 'returned it" and got my money back.
    Ideas please?
    Best,
    Scott

    HI Scott,
Copying the text from your post on the other thread which really helped in understanding this issue:
    Scott says:
"I double click the disk and use the setup.app to install.
It checks  the sys profile.  I then put in my serial number, etc.
Then it just  stays on “Preparing to install”.  (How long is it meant to do this?   Maybe I am not waiting long enough?)
I click the install button.  It goes  grey and then back to white.
Eventually I lose patience and quit out."
Your issue is definately different than the one which could have been resolved by the Tech Doc link which I sent you earlier, actually there are two time the string "Preparing to install.." is shown during the installer workflow, first during the initialization process before the Welcome Screen is shown to the user and second for 1-2 seconds between the transition of user clicking on Install button and Progress Bar being shown to the user. Since, in your case, installer is stucking at Progress bar, the Preparing to Install string is visible evidently to you. A screenshot would have been really helpful in understanding this issue. My bad I should have asked for it...
Regarding the current situation, the workaround here with which Barbara tried to help you, will not work, because your's is very specific and rare issue which we have seen reported only once before on the forum, so I am sure we will get it sorted out. Please follow the below steps:
    1. Go inside the <Macintosh HD>\Applications\Utilities\Adobe Installers\ folder.
    2. If there are any uninstall alias of Adobe sub components like ESTK, Extension Manager, Bridge, Adobe Updater, etc, then please invoke that installer and uninstall all those sub components.
    3. Now try to install PSE 8 again.
    4. If it still doesnt work, then please run the CS4 clean up script for Mac, and select CS4 from the drop down and let me know what all applications it is listing in it as available for cleaning/deleting.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406241.html#CS4CleanMac
Please keep me informed, if anything doesnt work out then eventually we will setup a time to meet over the internet and I will get this issue resolved.
    Regards,
    Ankush

  • Scripting for GarageBand: import; compress; export

    Hi there -
I'm not sure where the best place to post this is, so forgive me if this was not the best guess. I'm doing research on language and have a workflow that involves collecting thousands of recordings of individual words:
         I record someone for half an hour;
         splice that single audio file into hundreds or thousands of single-word chunks;
         export each splice as a separate audio file;
         (would like to) use automator / script to automatically rename the resultant files with an alphanumeric prefix and numerical postfix;
         import each of these files into GarageBand (or StudioOne) individually;
         compress the file to reduce dynamic range;
export the finalized file into a designated folder.
I have some very basic background in programming (primarily MatLab, but very basic dabbling in C), but I know nothing about scripting for Macs. In the long term, I'm interested in learning how to do this, but in the short term I'm looking at a lot of work that needs to get procssed and just need a quick fix for automating so that I don't have to (continue to) do this manually for each file!
In case it is of interest to anyone who may respond: the ultimate goal fo the process is to attain as constant a volume across all the files as possible: I record many different people, in different settings over the course of months or years and was told that compression will help standardize the playback volume. The reason for compressing each file individually is because even within a single recording session, the individual's voice may fluctuate notably as they move closer and further from the mic, or even if there is a single loud noise during recording - it would act as the reference point for compression, even though it was an anamoaly.
Finally, to clarify the questions involved here:
How can I automate the last 4 or so (or more?!) points from the above workflow? or Any suggestions where to find someone who could do this?
Alternatievely: suggestions on standardizing volume playback that does not involve the above process (NB: the standardization has to be as professional as possible, so I don't want to compromise the result for a simpler workflow).
Where can I start to learn more about scripting on the Mac so I can tackle such issues on my own, in the future?
    Kind regards,
    Rax Adam

Yes, the Keynote presentation slides/project is set for 1920x1080, the reason is I'm outputting via a high lumens projector that natively projects at 1920x1080p.
Even though a Macbook Pro does not have a screen that size, the Macbook can send out even larger than 1920x1080, but I am limiting the output to the native screen res of the projector.

  • Where is my FaceTime for Mac?

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased FaceTime for Mac, but I have not received a confirmation e-mail nor do I find the app anywhere on my MacBook? What do I do? Where can I find it?
Thans in advance for your kind help!

I'm having the same problem.  I'm running 10.7.3 and I've tried calling friends and family, one who has the latest generation iPod touch, and one who has another new MacBook Pro, and while my call pops up on their screen when they click "accept" the system gets stuck in a continual "connecting" mode.  When they call me, nothing on my end happens while on their end the calls are ringing.  What can I do to fix it?

  • Problem with facetime for mac

hello guy! I've got a problem with facetime for mac.My sister has a I-pod touch fourth generation with factime but i cna't phone her a message come on my mac.It say "xxx can't receive facetime's calls"!Can you help me??

    Thanks, Dah•veed.
I did see mention of using Google Public DNS while I was searching the forums prior to posting, but to be honest didn't think it was a DNS-related problem.
However, to rule it out I've set the prefered DNS servers on my router to Google's, but FaceTime still disconnects after 4-5 seconds when calling between me and my brother-in-law.  It doesn't matter who initiates the call.
As a test, before I made the changes to my router, I logged into FaceTime as him on my MBP and tried calling myself on my iMac, and that was successful.
The same test between the two iMacs when they were here was unsuccessful, so now I'm definitely thinking it's something on the '08 iMac.
Now I just need to figure out what...
