Auto-clear previous script output on running next command

As for now, you may manually use Clear button on it.
Out of my curiosity, why would you need to automatically clear the previous output?
Here is another consideration, if your statement contains error, would you still want it to be automatically erased?
IMO, keeping the previous output is really preferable.
Please notice there are two ways of executing command, using F9 (execute) and F5 (run script). Both of them are reported under Script Output tab.
Imagine after executing update or delete statement followed by commit, currently you may still see the information on inflicted record instead of having the script output only containing "commited".
Or... you execute many updates, and still can see the whole count of updated records, instead of getting the last one only.
As for now, I am very disagree with this feature.

No Script Output

Does SQL Developer have a query timeout? We often run queries as scripts and never receive the results in the script output window. We typically see the number of seconds a query takes (ie. 15.2343 seconds) to execute but no data. Any suggestions would be helpful.

When using Execute Statement, the current query is executed (unless you have a selection) and the time is displayed on the toolbar, record count is displayed on the status bar and the query results appear in the Results tab. When using Run Script, the entire worksheet contents are executed (unless you have a selection) and the time is displayed on the toolbar, "Script Finished" is displayed on the status bar and the query results appear in the Script Output tab (which should be switched to by default).
Scott - if you clear the Script Output before running as a script and then run your statement as a script, do you get anything at all on the Script Output? Also, you didn't say what your version details are (ie SQL Developer, JDK, DB, etc).

I prefer to view in All contacts on a double page spread with details on the right page. Searching doesn't seem to work correctly in this view.
It's always the second search that is problematic.
I've tried typing over and all it seems to do is confine the search to the the entries that have come up for the previous search.
I've tried to use the x to clear the previous entry and then type the next search, same problem. The only way seems to be to move from "All Contacts" to "Groups". Then the searched name appears and I can return to All Contacts to see full details.
Surely three key press' are not the way it's supposed to work?

4EA3 - ISSUE: run-as-script exits silently, deleting all text from "Script Output"

I have a short-to-medium sized script I've been developing in SQL Developer 4 EA (build MAIN-13.30).
It was going pretty well, then just when I was ready to verify the whole thing start to finish, it started silently aborting, deleting output.
This happened several times with the script. Because output is deleted, I can't tell definitively when it failed.
The log messages include pairs of messages matching the runs:

I perform a bit of unconventional handling of DEFINE variables and WHENEVER SQLERROR, but these have been in the script during successful runs.

You haven't provide ANY information about what the script is even trying to do, what database you are working with or what 'output' you are talking about being deleted.
I suggest that you perform more troubleshooting on your own to determine more about the issue that might be involved.
Use the 'binary search' method: cut the script in half and run the first half. If that works add half of the second half of the script (now using 75% of the script) and run that. Maybe 'divide and conquor' will isolate the particular part that is failing.,
If you are using Oracle then execute the script in sql*plus. If it works there but doesn't work in sql developer that provides more info.
Run the script in the latest OFFICIAL version of sql developer. If that works then the problem may be related to the un-released version you are using.
Not much anyone on the forums can do for you unless you post info about what it is you are even doing.

Then you need to be more proactive and add steps to the script that display, print or log each step that is executed. Then it is easy to tell which steps completed and which step failed.

Clear previous image window when next page loads

Using digital pen to capture form data for billing later. When billing person switches from record to record the "image area" with the description is showing the image from the previous record for several seconds prior to the new one loading. This can cause billing the wrong code.
I just installed Firefox for (Apr 17, 2011) on her machine. My laptop has version 4 as well but it clears the "image window" when the next record is loading. I have tried clearing the cache and every other thing I can find but cannot get it to work on her desktop machine. It still displays previous (wrong) digital pen image for several seconds until the correct one is finally loaded.

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.

File Save after clicking in script output overwrites file with output

This is bad:
If you run a file as script and afterwards click on the output window,
even if you click back on the script window,
the Ctrl+S (or even worse the File > Save menu option)
overwrites your file with the script output.
You only realize this when you reopen the file, or if you use another editor with auto-refresh, such as Crimson Editor.

Here is how to replicate the disappearing sql script:
In the Save dialog box, if the “.sql” is left off of the file name, only the script output is saved (this is bad).
If the file name ends in “.sql”, the script and the script output are saved (this is good).
I have no idea what the purpose of this feature is, and it has caused me much grief. I hope the next version of SQL Developer does it better.

2 Dumb Questions: Toggle Script Output tab / Set Serverouput Toggle

I use SQL Developer quite a lot, but I need some basic help
I'm using SQL Develeoper 3.0.04
Question 1.
If I ever close [X] the Script Output tab/window, I have a huge headache trying to open/unhide it again. I can't do it!
I've looked in the menus,
Preferences / Keyboard shortcuts etc but I just can't see it.
So how to a make the Script Output tab re-appear? THere must be a toggle somewhere.
Question 2.
In a previous version of SQL developer, I used SET SERVEROUTPUT ON.
The output from all my dbms_output.print_line statements would appear in the script output window FOR THE ENTIRE SESSION.
In this version that I'm using, everytime I run an anon block I have to preceed the block with SET SERVEROUTPUT ON.

Have you tried using the DBMS_OUTPUT window?
Select 'view -> DBMS Output
Then if you roll-over the '+' sign on the DBMS Output Window toolbar you will see that it says 'ENABLE DBMS_OUTPUT FOR CONNECTION'.
Click it and all output should display in the window.

4.0EA1 - Copy/Paste in Script Output window on Mac is not working

I'm running 4.0.0.12 on MacOS X 10.8.4, and I can't Copy from the "Script Output" window. What I regularly do is generate some SQL using an SQL query, so I want to copy the output and paste it back into the Worksheet so I can run it. For example:
select 'alter tablespace ' || TABLESPACE_NAME || ' begin backup;' from DBA_TABLESPACES;

This is a known issue and will be addressed for the next EA release.

Is there a script to create a next page button

I have a PDF that I need to create next and previous page buttons on. There is no option in the actions menu. Is there a java script I can run to make this happen. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro and I do not know javascript at all.

You didn't go far enough.
Acrobat 9 has that function built in.
Click on OK to create a button.
Name it NextPage.
Then go under properties/options.
Then under labels type Next Page.
Then under actions select mouse down.
Execute Menu Item.
Then choose add.
Then select View>Go To>Next Page
Then select OK.
Do the same for Previous Page or whatever else you want.
Once you have the "Next Page" and "Previous Page" in place just copy both and paste on each page.

Script Output cuts my querry

Hello SQL Developers,
I have a script that has some bigger output per querry (exactly it generates an XML)
When I run this script (F5) it only outputs the first about 200 chars per querry, then it cuts and starts with the next querry
For example:

Starting every querry for its own (Ctrl+F5) shows in the result window the correct result of this single querry without cuting somethink of.
I've tested it with the computer of a classmate. There it works fine without any cut in the Script Output window. Maybe that's because he didn't update
SQL Developer for more then a year. Maybe it is a setting I didn't found yet. Please can somebody help me?

At that time, a 4000 character display column size limit was added to circumvent the problem. It still remains and has not received much attention -- perhaps since VARCHAR2 is also limited to 4000, at least through the Oracle 11g releases.
In your specific case, you are not reaching the 4000 character limit. You can try the following in the worksheet:
show longwhich should show a default value of 80 if you never overrode it in your connection login script (Tools | Preferences | Database). So just
set long 4000and try running the script that outputs the XML again. Keep in mind that set long
Sets maximum width (in bytes) for displaying LONG, CLOB, NCLOB and XMLType values; and for copying LONG values.
Possibly Bug 5904607 needs revisiting, but I hope the approach described will be sufficient to get you past the current problem.

Script won't run unattended

I know very little about applescript, so please be gentle with me...
I have a script (written by someone else) which copies some folders to a flash drive (for offsite backups). It launches, mounts disks, clears the old files off of the flash drive, then does the copy. It is set to run at 2am. Every morning I come in, and the machine has an "Apple Event timeout" panel up, and the script has terminated without running the backup. I then double-click on the script and it runs flawlessly.
A couple of details...
After the script mounts disks, it puts up an alert panel that says "All drives are now mounted". That panel is set to time-out and for the script to continue if nobody clicks on the "ok" button.
If I am running interactively, and I sit there and watch the panel, then it times out after the allotted 15 seconds, and the script then copies just like it's supposed to. HOWEVER -- if I shift to another application (for example I select the Finder to go check on some other files), then I don't see the panel (of course) because my script doesn't have focus. But the little applescript icon jumps in the dock. If I sit there, not acting on the jumping icon, not bringing the script to front, then I get the "Applescript timed out" message and the script fails.
Does anybody recognize this problem and could you give me some ideas on how to fix it?

Well, it seems to me that the dialog serves no useful purpose, so I'd delete the line in the script that displays the dialog. It's a horrible user interface that interrupts the workflow to tell you everything's normal (or, at least, working as expected). Applications should warn/inform you of errors or unusual conditions.
If, for some reason, you want to keep the dialog then your best bet is to activate the application that's displaying the dialog. For example:
tell me
activate
display dialog "here's a really annoying dialog telling you everything's OK"
end tell
This will have the effect of bringing the script application frontmost before displaying the dialog, therefore overcoming the 'app in background' error you're running into. There's no trivial way, though, to set the focus back to the previous app, which just adds to the annoyingness of this pointless dialog.

Set env using a script and run the command (dependency on the env)

I need to set the env varaible by running a shell script with arguments as 'ksh setEnviron r6.1' and then run the command in the
same process. the command has dependency on the previous script which sets the env variables.
With Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd1); ,Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd2); I am not able to execute the Cmd2 as it is running in different process.
How do solve this issue.
Is there any other method to run the command to set env variables and run the second command.(dependent on the env) to get the output.
Please help me out in this.

Do you think I used the '-i' argument just for fun? Did you do a 'man sh' and 'man bash' to see what the arguments do? If not then do it now.

Using 3rd party binary in script that is run as job

Hi all,
I have several scripts to do various tasks with IIS logs we receive from all our various web servers. One script unzips logs, another logparses to grab a few fields then sftp to a 3rd party for analysis, another will encrypt the original zip files
in prep for ftp to 3rd party, another will ftp to that 3rd party, and yet another will analyse the logs with our in house analytiscs application.
I want to have a master script that will run these other scripts as jobs so that it will control when to start certain scripts based on the state of the jobs. It all seemed to work great as I was setting up test jobs, until I added '3rd' party executables
like 7-zip, ftp.exe, winscp, etc... The jobs would just go to failed state when they hit the executables.
That's not my current problem though as I found out that if I used the
-windowstyle hidden option for start-process then everything ran as expected, that is until I wanted to log output from the 3rd party app. FTP for example.
I tried this:
$ftpexe = "C:\windows\System32\ftp.exe"
$ftpscr="d:\scripts\ftpscrtmp.txt"

However, asking powershell to redirect output of a hidden window was probably like asking someone to cover their eyes and read a book and it let me know it.
I have tried without using -windowstyle hidden and not having any luck. I want to capture the output of the ftp commands so that I can make sure the file was transferred successfully. If I run the script without -windowstyle hidden and not as
a job it works, and I can test the output. I really want to be able to run this script as a job AND get the output of the ftp to a file... advice?

I get no window and the file gets written.

Auto clearing of customer open items

Dears,
We have implemented for a retail client, wherein we create sale order, collect money, deliver and billing. The collection will generate multiple document since it will be many types (cash, cheques, card, span, transfer etc), my requirement is that all these payments are against sales order which updates sales order in the assignment filed of accounting document, but billing document updates billing document in the assignment field which is causing difficulty to run auto clearing and there will be more than 1000 orders created in all our outlets which makes very difficult to clear manually. I ll be great if you can help me in this regard. Any user exit or configuration help would be appreciated.

As suggested by Ajay, try with sort key if number of invoice G/L accounts are few. If it doesn't work, check SD copy control.
Go to t-code VTFL. Select target billing type and source delivery type and double click. Update
B Sales order number in the assignment field. This would automatically transfer, sales document number to accounting document of billing.
If you are creating billing for sales order, do the same in VTFA.

See from SPRO: General Ledger Accounting / Business Transactions / Open Item Clearing / Assign Clearing Rules to Account Types. Normal this is what to fill in but there are some other options.
When you post an GR on a Purchasing order and an invoice this is posted on a clearing account (open item management) When you run F.13 it clears automatically these items. For GR/IR clearing you don't have to set up in customizing.
For other clearings perhaps you have to sut-up come customizing
