Auto-commit occurs even when preference disabled

In the menu under TOOLS > PREFERENCES > Database Connections, there is an option that says "Autocommit in SQL Worksheet". It seems that sometimes DML statements are committed immediately even if this option is turned off.
I am experiencing this problem on SQL Developer Version 1.0.0.15.57 running on Windows 2000 (5.00.2195 Service Pack 4). Not sure if it matters, but the database is 10.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition running on LINUX RHAS 3.0 Update 4.
Is this a known bug? Is it fixed in future releases?

Auto-commit preference for worksheet, if turned on, would issue commit immediately after you run DML from worksheet.
If it's turned off and you still see changes data being commit, I think it's possible only in another scenario where you have Auto-commit preference for worksheet turned off, issue DML from worksheet and subsequently do a commit in data grid.
Commit button is present in both data grid and in sql worksheet, and sql developer uses only one connection/session. So, a commit in grid is going to commit your worksheet issued DMLs.
Grid data is not commited that way unless you have grid's auto-commit preference on (that preference is in ObjectViewer preference node).

Display screen is turned off after timeout even when blanking disabled

After a recent update which among other things upgraded gnome to 3.10 my display blanking policy no longer behaves according to a configuration.
Currently it is being turned off (monitor says "no DVI signal" and switches off) after each 10 mins if idle time.
In Gnome's Power Settings I have 'Blank Screen' set to Never.
It used to work perfectly earlier, no blanking, but now it blanks not only when I'm idle, but even when watching some movie in VLC.
I am not sure if this has to do with Gnome update or some other system component is causing this.
Using nvidia driver.
Any hint or link to the topic with the workaround would be greatly appreciated.

I just noticed myself this annoying issue and I do not use Gnome nor GDM.
The thing is after checking the xset settings with
xset q
I noticed that the DPMS settings for Standby, Suspend and Off were back to their default values (60/60/600) instead of the 0/0/0 as I am using
xset s off &
in my openbox autostart file to avoid the screen blanking.
The way I fixed it was to simply run
xset -dpms
being the DPMS featured as disabled when queried.
Afterwards I checked that the screen did not blank again and 1) logged out and 2) restarted checking both times that the DPMS were the ones expected (0/0/0).
Thus, so far, I have no issues with the screen blanking in a non Gnome environment (Openbox) anymore.

Firefox 3.6.11 &12 crash my computer, repeatedly, even when I disable addons, including Flash plugin. It has been my favorite browser for several years, but had to uninstall it

Firefox crashes even when all add ons are disabled. It crashed before but as soon as I updated the program or addons it worked fine. Not this time. It just kept crashing. I finally uninstalled it. I uninstalled Flash player and it still crashed. What is so wrong with it all of sudden?

RV130W Inter-VLAN Routing occurs even when disabled

On my RV130W I have two VLANs set up:
VLAN1:
VLAN100:
Inter-VLAN Routing is NOT enabled:
Why then am I able to ping hosts in a different VLAN?
Does this require a bug fix?

I put my theory to the test and it worked as I thought
which is that vlan 101 could get to vlan 102 and vice versa
but vlan 1 could get to either and vice versa
I take it that this is probably due to how the router os is setup and hardware options on it
based on that there is probably only a couple of real interfaces
and that the vlan 1 is assigned to the one of them or to the switch interface
and the other vlans are just attached to it,
vlan 1 has to be able to cross communicate due to my guess that there aren't enough real interfaces
in that vlan is the end gateway and the other vlans are just virtual gateways if you will

In my lab I actually don't assign vlan 1 to any ports at all, nothing is on it except that actual router
but I left it on a port for you to see, as it might be handy to connect to in worst case scenarios
which works because of routing

Block diagram errors even when block disabled

Should LabVIEW give the broken arrow for errors within a disabled block?
I have a block disabled where way down in the call tree from a VI within that block there is a broken VI.
Nothing else calls this broken VI except the VI from the disabled block.
Why should I get the broken arrow if the top level caller is disabled?

I have discovered that the errors in the disabled section appear in the error list box when there are other 'real' errors.
When there are no other errors, then the errors in the disabled section do not affect the run arrow.
Typically commented or disabled code is ignored by a compiler - and so I think it should be the case with LabVIEW too.

Silent Install Adds IE Plugin even when disabled

I'm trying to do a silent install of the JRE 1.4.0 & even when I disable the IE plugin option, it still gets installed when running from the script. Here's my .iss file:

the "SdAskOptions" section with a component count of 0 should skip the IE plugin option, but it's not.
The interesting thing is that when I did the manual install to generate this script, the plugin was not installed...it behaves differently when I run the install from the generated script!
Does anyone know what's wrong here?

I had the same problems with the silent installation of JRE 1.4.0_01 on Windows XP. The only chance to correct the unwanted Plug-In activation in IE is to modify the registry.
With the following commands you can patch the registry after the silent install:
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in\1.4.0_01" /v UseJava2IExplorer /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\JAVA_SUN" /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Classes\CLSID\{08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501}\TreatAs" /f
But be aware of the fact, that any change in the registry is a kind of operation on the open heart.

BUG: Default reminder set in Live cal. even when specifying Reminder=None in Outlook 2013

Since switching from Outlook 2010 to 2013 I have been getting calendar apointment alerts on the Windows Phone and iPad linked to my Live account, even though I am creating appointments specifying no reminder.
After a lot of investigation, I can see exactly what the problem is. I have created many test appointments and exported from Outlook and examined the resulting file.
If I have asked for a reminder, "Reminder on/off" is True and specified reminder date/time is present.
If I have asked for NO reminder, "Reminder on/off" is False *but* reminder date/time is present based on the Default reminder setting. This occurs even when the tickbox for Default reminder is unticked (and there is no default setting
for None apart from unticking).
When that appointment reaches my Live calendar, it appears with a reminder, based on the date/time that Outlook 2013 has supplied, even though "Reminder on/off" is False.
Is this a bug in Outlook, which surely shouldn't be putting default reminder date/time into the data when Reminder is set to None.
Or is it a bug in Live, in that is should disregard any reminder date/time if "Reminder on/off" is False?
The reminder does not pop up in Outlook, although it does on sync'ed devices.

Based on my long-time research, seems it’s the default behavior of Windows phone. The reminder is set to 15 minutes by default and it’s not possible to change the setting by default. See:

IMac has decided to start typing letters on its own even when a keyboard isnt connected.

i have an imac that is just over a year old that has at first started typing what looked like latin or greek letters it was running Lion so i upgraded it to Mountain Lion, fixed any permission errors on the drive and then zapped the PRAM. Now its phantom types single letters like "o" or "i" even when there is no keyboard attached.
this occured even when i had booted from a thumb drive so i could run the hardware test (which i had to set in sys prefs because holding opt wasnt working on startup to select startup drive).
any ideas or help would be appreciated

Since this occurs when booted from a different system (on the thumb drive) it must be a hardware issue. You will need to get it looked at and repaired.
Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the iMac in to an Apple retail store or service provider.

Noise in PID control output at 100% even when constants used as inputs

I am using the PID toolkit to control valve movement in a system. We are having an issue with large output fluctuations (~4%) when the valve is controlled completely open, PID output 100%. This does not occur when the valve is controlled completely closed, PID output 0%. We thought it might be caused by noise in the SP or PV signal but it still occurs even when constants are used for these variables. The output range for the PID.vi is set to 0-100%. Has anyone seen this before and if so how do I prevent it from occurring? Thanks,

The PID output is going between 96% and 100% when I think it should be 100%. For example if my setpoint is 5gpm and the process variable is 3gpm I would expect the the valve to open to allow more flow. If I set the SP as a constant 5gpm and the PV as a constant 3gpm, I would expect the PID to move to 100% and stay there. But it fluctuates rather than remains steady. We are using a cRIO to output 4-20mA signal to several control valves.

Crashing on start up, auto-updating even when disabled & not allowing a safe toolbar add-on to download

I have followed all of the steps in all of the relevant help articles (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash), and nothing has fixed this problem.
I was running v17, and yesterday it auto-updated to v18 when I opened firefox. As soon as it updated it crashed, pressing 'restart firefox' did nothing, I could only quit. So I found an old install file, went back to v17, checked the option to ask permission before updating, run malwarebytes and spybot, so my PC is clean. This morning, same thing happened - auto update with no warning or permission given. Crashed. Repeatedly, restarted, closed everything else that was running, uninstalled and reinstalled the older stable version. Both times I spent a long time reinstalling add ons and themes. On top of that my goodapp toolbar from goodsearch will no longer be installed by firefox because 'it can't modify the necessary files'. All other add ons work fine, and I was using this toolbar with no issues in v17 only yesterday.
The second reinstall I clicked the option 'never check for updates'. But tonight, when I opened firefox, it updated without warning to v18 again and I was ready to switch to chrome after a decade of using this browser. There was no Firefox (safe mode) to run from my program files, and since I couldn't open the browser at all before it crashed, all I could do was uninstall and reinstall v17 for the third time in 24 hours and as you can imagine I am not very happy that your so-called stable release is anything but that. I think with the number of people having problems that you should stop work on v20 and actually accept there is a problem with this release instead of trying to blame it on malware.

This crash is usually caused by to malware and the involved randomly named file in your case is astktkra.dll as you can see in the modules list of the crash report.
Try to use MSConfig and disable that file to prevent it from getting started.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to locate and remove the file either manually or with a malware scanner.
You will have to search the Windows registry (Ctrl+F) for references to that file and export and remove involved keys to avoid startup issues with missing files or alternatively use a registry cleaner like CCleaner.
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then it is best to skip this step.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Whenever I click on a web link, do download a PDF form, for example, I get this error message:

11.0.0.4 Update still promting for update at clock even when disabled via GPO customization wizard

I have custiomized the Adobe Reader 11.0.0.4 msi to disable any updating feature available . This is the same as the previous versions which have worked faultlessly. This time when i have deployed 11.0.0.4 it does install on the windows machine but still prompts beside the clock with an icon and message saying would you like to install the update? if i click it it then fails as its already installed. i do not want any user to see this message especaily when that version is already running on the machine! Please see below for further informaiton, Appriciate any help resolving this issue.

Disable Auto commit

I have developed a web serice using JDeveloper, the Web service is rapped on ORACLE DB packages.
so I use the JDeveloper wizard to create the Web service using the DB connection.
and I deployed it using ORACLE application server, when I tested the web service using Internet explorer, I found that all transactions are committed though there is no commit code in the DB packages.
How can I make the webservice disable the auto commit, Actulally I don't know if this commit is made by the application server or by the JAVA application or by Internet Explorer.

What happened is that I don't need to explicit commit for all the DB operations (insert/update): it is automatic! If I want to handle the commit/rollback what I have to do inside my code?
