Auto Date?

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to have Numbers auto date a row for me. I use it a lot to print out schedules and I am manually putting in the dates... kinda a pain in the arse!
Thanks!

Is it surprising? We have to do that for "hand_done" entry as well as for "prog_done" one.
Also note that while the menu item inserts the current date, it inserts 12:00:00 AM instead of the current time.
From my point of view, this is an anomaly and I will file a bug report.
For those reluctant to type a part of the date_time value, Services are available allowing us to enter a date_time value. Devon Technologies offers such a tool.

    I am fairly new to this,
    I have crated a form using the form wizard in Acrobat Pro 9.0 and I would like to make a field an Auto date field and another an Auto Numbering field. I have read a lot of the posts and there are a lot of recommendation to point the auto number to a database. This is fine but I do not know how to reference that field to an external database. PLEASE HELP!!!! Somebody GEEK me!!

  • Location Services always ON with Auto Date/Time/Timezone ON

    iOS5 lets you see the Location Services (LS) indicator in the Status Bar when system services are using LS in addition to when apps are using LS. I turned this ON (Settings > Location Services > System Services > Status Bar Icon) and immediately saw that "Setting Time Zone" was using LS.
    I went into Settings > General > Date & Time and saw that "Set Automatically" was ON. As soon as I turned it OFF the LS indicator disappeared.
    Does this mean that LS is always ON when you've got auto Date & Time on? It looks like that to me...
    Anyone else seeing this? I wonder whether this is an iOS5 bug or whether it's always behaved like this?
    Thanks

    Hi All,
            I checked my friend's IPHONE 4S. Date & Time->Set Automatically  is set to ON and in Location Services-> Setting Time Zone is set to On but it does not use GPS regularly but my Phone does I have tried everything Setup as new, erase all setting, reset all settings, reset network settings and restore from BACKUP. My Problem is persitent. The Only difference I notice in my mobile and friend's mobile is that he bought from Saudi Arabia and I bought from Australia (though it has been swaped by genious bar). He is using Telstra and I am using Vodafone. both has 9A406.
       Hard to figure out what is this?
    Thanks

    In microsoft work auto date comes up with may 2, 12 in stead of may 2, 2012?

    It was a problem Microsoft introduced--the default options for formatting dates dropped the first two digits.  And since the straight date function uses the default format, you get the problem.
    I believe the default Insert Date and Time... function now offers up all four digits, but I believe the options given on the Insert Field->Date are still problematical.  In that case you just have to edit the formatting clause in Options to change from "y" to "yyyy" .

  • BUG: Auto-Date incorrect for December 31, 2012 iPad version

    I updated to the latest version of Numbers yesterday (December 31, 2012). I didn't notice it at the time, but when I was touching "now" for the date auto-fill, it populated it as January 1, 2012 when in fact it should have filled it in as December 31, 2012. The time/date settings are and have been correct for the iPad.
    To wit: I made a Numbers spreadsheet. One column has a date/time field. The date setting is d/m/yy (1/5/13). The time setting is h:mm (7:08 PM). I fill in the fields using the form option in Numbers for the iPad. To get the current time/date, I touch the field and then press "h" for hour, then press the "now" button that appears at the bottom.
    Why didn't I notice the error? My wife and I just had our first children—a set of twins a few days ago. We are... exhausted. The spreadsheet is used to track their feedings and bathroom schedule.
    The bug may be able to be recreated if the date/time were adjusted to be December 31. Not gonna try, though—too tired! Figured this bug may be important, which is why I'm reporting it.

    Thanks for this Jackson.  Looks like my client was hit by [2758568].   Please could you clarify if "Issues fixed" mean the fix is currenly live on the system or if it will be fixed on the 4 December roll out.

  • Auto Date and Time

    Over the past couple of days I have noticed my iPhone4 time is wrong - it is 8 minutes fast.
    I am connected to the "3" network, and Date & Time setting is set to Auto.
    My wife has an iPhone 3GS runnig the same OS version connected to the same network, and the time on her phone is correct.
    I have tried rebooting the phone, but has made no difference.
    Anyone else with the same problem?

  • Need Certificate Widget for Cap 5 with Auto Date

    Okay, folks--I've spent a half day on this and it's time to throw up my hands. I've wandered all over the internet, sure I would find the answer, but no.
    I'm not a Flash developer or a code afficianado. I'm just your average instructional designer trying to get along with Captivate 5. I don't want to create a bunch of new stuff. I want the functionality there for me. I did research and try to see what it would take for me to develop my own certificate widget, but it sort of defeats the whole rapid e-learning premise, if you know what I mean!
    I just want a certificate of completion widget that A) allows the user to enter his name B) autofills the date C) actually inserts my logo instead of asking for the file and then doing nothing with it C) prints out when you click the print button. Where can I put my hands on such a widget that will function in CAPTIVATE 5?
    (Why, OH WHY, doesn't the certificate of completion work the way it did in Captivate 4? In desperation, I tried loading the widget that was used for 4, but it's not happy in 5. And WHY would you have it available in the award certificate and not the completion certificate? I don't want to AWARD them. I want to acknowleded that they successfully completed a tutorial.)

    By the way the certificate widget doesn't work using the instructions in "Using Adobe Captivate 5" manual (which are actually 4s instructions), no blank slide with a variable of v_Name is required.
    The correct instructions for 5 are:
    Insert a blank slide after the quiz result and insert the certificate widget, choose the layout and add information:
    ·         Name of the course
    ·         Date on which the course was taken or leave default dates which fill in automatically upon completion
    ·         Signature of Authority
    Once published, before the certificate is displayed, there is an auto generated page by the widget requiring the user to input a name, and to use the Submit button. The name automatically is inserted on the Certificate. It can  also be tested by Previewing it.
    Note: This still didn't work for me after I had set up the certificate widget according to the manual and after much research I found that if you have already created a variable in Project/Variables named v_Name, in order to get the certificate to work in Captivate 5 the variable needs to be removed from Project/Variables.
    Captivate may tell you it can't remove the variable and that it is attached to a slide, however once you remove the slide that it was used on and delete it from the library you can remove the variable. As a precaution, I shut down Captivate and reopened it to clear any temp memory, then checked to see if the variable was gone and it was. At that point I inserted the certificate following the instructions above and it worked correctly.
    Good luck, Scharolet

  • Auto date entry in text field not working

    I have a text field named tdate, which is read-only and visible. I want Acrobat XI Pro to insert today's date when the form is opened. Here's what I have:
    javascript code:
    var f = this.getField("tdate");
    if (!f.value) f.value = util.printd ("mmmm d, yyyy", new Date());
    This code is inserted in Page properties / Actions /Page Open / run a JavaScript
    nothing happens when the page is opened.
    I have also tried, unsuccessfully, to enter this JavaScript code within the form field actions (mouse up), and nothing happens. I see from the forum comments that apparently this is successful for other users, but nothing seems to fill this text field. What am I doing wrong?
    Bill

    Thanks for your reply. I started to wonder whether or not the current field
    that I created had somehow been corrupted due to my fooling around so I
    deleted the field re-created it (and also randomly JavaScript debugger and
    deleted the code there) and now the current date appears in the text field.
    I wonder why Adobe doesn't simply allow the user to insert fields where the
    field is filled with either the current date or the current time instead of
    forcing the user to enter some JavaScript code. Not all users of Acrobat
    professional want to get that involved.

  • Auto Date/Time stamp required for Numbers 3.1

    I would like to automatically add a Date/Time stamp to the last column's cell, when a person's name is selected from the pop-up menu in Column C.
    As a number of different people will be using the spreadsheet, I'd prefer not to have a keyboard short cut, as it can be easily overlooked.
    I was wondering if it were possible to use a script to copy a cell's (column D) results, containing the 'NOW()' or 'TODAY()' function, and paste the results into the 2nd cell (Column E), allowing the last column's formula to reference the 2nd cell?
    The formula in the last cell   =if($C2="","",$E2)  can then reference a static cell, rather than a live cell.
    I know enough to be dangerous, so I'm not sure if i'm heading in the right direction.
    Thanking you all in advance.

    Hi Gordon,
    Is this the same as a script?
    Good question! It's fun to see people try to define what a service is. It may be one of the least understood and appreciated features on the Mac. It was certainly a mystery to me not long ago.
    I think of a service as anything that can be made to appear in the Services menu. Apple has made that easy with Automator. You fire up Automator, create a new service "workflow" document, plop in a script, save, and see the result immediately in the Services menu. You can also send the .workflow package to someone else, who only needs to double-click to install it.
    This particular date-time service contains a short AppleScript (you can view it by opening the .workflow in Automator.  But other languages (Python, Perl, etc) and Unix utilities can be used too, as illustrated here.
    Since Numbers has decent support for AppleScript, it is quite easy for the non-technical user to "bolt on" menu choices to do quite sophisticated things that are not built into the interface itself.  I find it more accessible than (and just as powerful as) the VBA used for Excel macros. But that could be mostly a matter of familiarity.  In any case, it adds a whole new dimension to Numbers.

  • Templates  auto date

    I have a stationery template that inserts todays date when you open the template. However after a letter is saved in my docs folder, using that template for format, if you re-open the saved document at a later date, it replaces the original date with todays date. How can I avoid that. Once the template is used and saved as a doc shouldn't it preserve the original date?

    Gregory,
    If you don't trust the date not to update (I wouldn't if the time-stamp was important to me), you can Copy it, advance the insertion point to just past the date object and then Paste and Match Style. Backspace out the original Date and Time object and you are left with plain text format copy of the date that can never update.

  • Auto date field

    I am looking to put in a field that will automatically
    populate the current date mm/dd/yyyy - I am creating a certificate
    for the user to enter their name and print out the certificate with
    the date they took the course. also while I am at it how can I
    create a button for them to print just the current captivate page..
    Thanks

    Hi devokan and welcome to our little community
    For the print bit, check out fellow Adobe Community Expert
    Paul Dewhurst's print widget. You can see it by
    clicking
    this way cool and super handy little link.
    For the date bit, I'm thinking you would have to resort to
    using JavaScript. Still struggling a bit, however, with how you
    would tie it into the movie. (or I suppose we should start calling
    them projects now, since that's the term being used all over in
    Captivate 2
    As I understand it, ActionScript is more or less very similar
    to JavaScript, so maybe something could be done in Flash that would
    accomplish this. My Flash skills are nowhere near that level yet,
    so I'll have to defer to one of our resident Flash experts for
    that.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is it possible to switch off auto dates in a comments box?

    Hello,
    I am making annotations to a document in pages 09 using the comments facility.  However each time after saving when I return the date has automatically appeared in the comments box.  This is becoming slightly annoying as I have a larger list of dates than the comments I'm making!
    Is it possible to switch this feature off?
    Thankyou in advance for any help.

    Hi Jerrold,
    That works fine until I save and then when I reopen the document the comment box has the date and time back at the top.  If I save and reopen again the following day there will be two dates and times in the box!
    I really just need to get rid of them totally.

  • Modifying auto-date format

    Hello guys,
    I'm using ID CS3 on a XP machine in Spanish.
    I've been fiddling with this script to stamp today's date in an Indy document.
    It works very good, and I got it to even insert tomorrow's date.
    The resulting date is in this format: jueves, enero 12, 2012.
    I am trying now to change it to this format (this is in Spanish): jueves, 12 de enero de 2012.
    This is the script:
    function dayMonthYear(date) {
    // returns dayName, monthName date, year
    // PLUS ONE DAY
    date.setDate(date.getDate()+1);
    var myDateString = date.toLocaleDateString();
    myParts = myDateString.split(" 0");
    if (myParts.length != 1) {
    myDateString = myParts[0] + " " + myParts[1];
    return myDateString.slice(0,-5) + " de" + myDateString.slice(-5);
    Remember, ID and the OS are in Spanish, and according to date.toLocaleDateString() the script should return the date in this format: "jueves, 12 de enero de 2012". Why does it return "jueves, enero 12, 2012"?
    I am not very good at scripting, but.. Can anybody help me change the script so it returns the date in my desired format?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    What do you have to do? Well, it is tricky. It is tricky to get right. The better answer is "Don't."
    But if you must, you'll have to be quite clear.
    Exactly what do you want to do to the returend date string?
    Specify it very clearly. Something like:
      Split it up into space-seperated words.
      Insert "de" between the 3rd and 4th word and the 7th and 8th word.
      Swap the 3rd and 5th words.
      Capitalize the first word.
      Put it all back together.
    I can imagine many ways to poentially get what you want and as non-Spanish speaker, I am not sure what weird exceptions there are.
    The split function divides a string on the specified character. Such as splitting a sentence into words by calling .split(" "), which splits on spaces.
    See https://developer.mozilla.org/en/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/Split for a good reference with some examples.

  • Auto date for numbers

    Hello!  I'm building a template to monitor my mothers blood sugar levels twice a day.  Currently, I'm manually entering date and day of the week.  Is there a way for me to format a column to automatically enter date and day of the week information or do I need to enter that cell by cell?  I'm new to numbers'09 but learning.  Thanks!

    Hi Larry,
    You can enter the Date using the Insert > Date and Time menu item, or by pressing shift-option-command-D.
    If you also want the current time included in the entry, do the above, then double-click the cell to open the set date dialogue and choose the last format  in the popup menu.
    OR:
    Enter the formula =TODAY() in all cells (after the last date you've entered) in the Date column. As each day arrives, select the cell(s) for that day, Copy, then Edit > Paste Values.
    OR
    If you're using a single row for each day's entries (ie. morning and afternoon levels recorded in separate columns):
    Enter the starting date into a Header row. (example uses cell B1)
    Enter the formula  =B1+1 into B2  (row 2 is the first non-header row)
    Fill the formula down to the rest of the cells in column B.
    To add dates, drag the Row handle down to add rows. The formula will automatically fill into the new rows (IF every regular cell in the column contains the formula).
    In any of these you can format the cells to show the date in a format that includes the weekday name.
    Regards,
    Barry
