Auto execute query needed when forms naviagate to another formurs

hi friends,
i have a form based on a VIEW, it is PENDING requisitions VIEW muliti record block, when u double click on requistion_id im calling a form with CALL_FORM(form_name,NO_HIDE) there we can see complete requisition details, then u decide to approve, so we close that form, that means we are back at the calling_form, the moment we come back to calling form, i want this calling/parent form should be re-execute quaery, so that the latest approved requisition will be gone from the PENDING list. please advise me...
Thanks in advance

The Calling Form is suspended whist the CALLed form is active - thus any command after the CALL_FORM is not executed until you edit the form that you called.
If you are really using OPEN_FORM not CALL_FORM then you have to take a different approach - in that case you need to use something like the When-Form-Navigate trigger

    I would recommend you to open you report/grid via rep.client and try to find which elements are abcent

  • How to implement enter-query , execute-query in Apex Forms

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle Application Express. I want to know what is the equivalent of ENTER-QUERY and EXECUTE-QUERY features of Oracle Forms in Oracle APEX? I saw a lot of documentation, but everywhere I found that APEX forms only have 3 database actions, (1) INSERT (2) UPDATE & (3) DELETE.
    Does anybody know how we can do QUERY in APEX Forms? (like we do in Oracle Developer Forms).
    Thanks in advance.

    Oracle APEX is a web/ stateless environment. So you do not have the same functionality/ features as in a Oracle Forms environment which is session/state oriented.
    You can however achieve functionality similar to Enter Query / Execute Query through other means.
    The easiest is to use the Forms with Report wizard. It creates 2 pages, the first one is a report and the other a Form. Clicking on the Report rows takes you to the Form page in Edit mode where as the the Create button takes you to the Form in Insert mode.
    If you want to have the enter-query / execute query on a single page it will require significant effort and skills. Try it when you have acquired some more skills in Apex.
    In APEX , like any other web application, you have to think in the web paradigm and not client-server. Even Forms 11g is essentially client-server like and is session oriented through the forms applet.

  • Execute query for oracle forms tab pages

    Hi Guru's,
    Please help me how to work on execute query with forms tab pages. I have created three tabs like A, B & C in one canvas.
    I have three tables and I have created three tabs in one canvas. And there is no master detail relationship with these three tables.
    I have written the code in form level - when-new-form-instance like do_key('execute_query') but when i see at run time its executing for first tab A not for tab B or tab c.
    How to get the data or execute the data in tab B and tab C.
    Thanks
    RS

    1- create a block blk_1 add items item_1,Item_2 and Item_3.
    2- create main canvas main_canvas. type Content.
    3- create tabcanvas TABCANVAS . Type Tab
    4- Create tabpages tb_1,tb_2 and tb_3.under tabcanvas
    5- create stack1,stack2 and stack3.type stack.
    6- put Item_1,Item_2 and Item_3 under stack1,stack2 and stack3.
    add when tabpage change trigger.
    Declare
    V_TapPage_Name VarChar2(100);
    Begin
    Show_View('TABCANVAS');

  • Poor query performance when joining CONTAINS to another table

    We just recently began evaluating Oracle Text for a search solution. We need to be able to search a table that can have over 20+ million rows. Each user may only have visibility to a tiny fraction of those rows. The goal is to have a single Oracle Text index that represents all of the searchable columns in the table (multi column datastore) and provide a score for each search result so that we can sort the search results in descending order by score. What we're seeing is that query performance from TOAD is extremely fast when we write a simple CONTAINS query against the Oracle Text indexed table. However, when we attempt to first reduce the rows the CONTAINS query needs to search by using a WITH we find that the query performance degrades significantly.
    For example, we can find all the records a user has access to from our base table by the following query:
    SELECT d.duns_loc
    FROM duns d
    JOIN primary_contact pc
    ON d.duns_loc = pc.duns_loc
    AND pc.emp_id = :employeeID;
    This query can execute in <100 ms. In the working example, this query returns around 1200 rows of the primary key duns_loc.
    Our search query looks like this:
    SELECT score(1), d.*
    FROM duns d
    WHERE CONTAINS(TEXT_KEY, :search,1) > 0
    ORDER BY score(1) DESC;
    The :search value in this example will be 'highway'. The query can return 246k rows in around 2 seconds.
    2 seconds is good, but we should be able to have a much faster response if the search query did not have to search the entire table, right? Since each user can only "view" records they are assigned to we reckon that if the search operation only had to scan a tiny tiny percent of the TEXT index we should see faster (and more relevant) results. If we now write the following query:
    WITH subset
    AS
    (SELECT d.duns_loc
    FROM duns d
    JOIN primary_contact pc
    ON d.duns_loc = pc.duns_loc
    AND pc.emp_id = :employeeID
    SELECT score(1), d.*
    FROM duns d
    JOIN subset s
    ON d.duns_loc = s.duns_loc
    WHERE CONTAINS(TEXT_KEY, :search,1) > 0
    ORDER BY score(1) DESC;
    For reasons we have not been able to identify this query actually takes longer to execute than the sum of the durations of the contributing parts. This query takes over 6 seconds to run. We nor our DBA can seem to figure out why this query performs worse than a wide open search. The wide open search is not ideal as the query would end up returning records to the user they don't have access to view.
    Has anyone ever ran into something like this? Any suggestions on what to look at or where to go? If anyone would like more information to help in diagnosis than let me know and i'll be happy to produce it here.
    Thanks!!

    Sometimes it can be good to separate the tables into separate sub-query factoring (with) clauses or inline views in the from clause or an in clause as a where condition. Although there are some differences, using a sub-query factoring (with) clause is similar to using an inline view in the from clause. However, you should avoid duplication. You should not have the same table in two different places, as in your original query. You should have indexes on any columns that the tables are joined on, your statistics should be current, and your domain index should have regular synchronization, optimization, and periodically rebuild or drop and recreate to keep it performing with maximum efficiency. The following demonstration uses a composite domain index (cdi) with filter by, as suggested by Roger, then shows the explained plans for your original query, and various others. Your original query has nested loops. All of the others have the same plan without the nested loops. You could also add index hints.

  • How to find where an import item will come from for auto execute query?

    I am trying to get a standalone stackLayout region to automatically execute the query on a VO when I run a test.
    I found this thread, Re: Table creation and Data Population and tried adding the suggested code into my <companyname>.oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.server.<companyname>WorklistAMImpl. java, without the "if" clause wrapper.
    if(pageContext.getParameter("Submit") != null)
    OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("EmployeeVO1");
    OATableBean table = (OATableBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("ResultTable");
    table.queryData(pageContext, false);
    However, when I try to compile, I get errors that the variable webBean, variable pageContext, and class OATableBean are not found in my class <companyname>.oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.server.<companyname>WorklistAMImpl. I had a couple others missing classes, which I figured out where they were and included them as imports.
    My questions are:
    1. Did I put this code in the right place?
    2. How do I find out where the OATableBean exists (and generically, how do I find where a class exists, for future reference)?
    3. In the case of the referenced note, how should I define the webBean and pageContext variables?
    Thanks.
    - Pam

    I found where the OATableBean was defined, but I'd still like to know in general how to find classes. Is there a utility I can run that would list what's where?
    Also, I figured out for the webBean and pageContext that I needed to import OAwebBean and OApageContext and then define the parameters in stream, so onw I'm successfully compiling; however, I still get "No search conducted" on the test rather than actually seeing the results of the VO. So, I sitll wonder if I have the code in the right place, or am I missing another piece? For instance, since my VO is based on a multi-org view, do I need to do something similar to set_client_info? Even if I did have to do that, I would expect a no data found rather than a no search conducted message.
    The view code is as follows (note, I have commented out the bind variable for now and hard coded which distribution I want to find, so I expect it to get one row returned):
    SELECT ReqDistributionsEO.DISTRIBUTION_ID,
    ReqDistributionsEO.DISTRIBUTION_NUM,
    ReqDistributionsEO.REQ_LINE_QUANTITY,
    ReqDistributionsEO.REQ_LINE_AMOUNT,
    ReqDistributionsEO.EXPENDITURE_TYPE,
    ReqDistributionsEO.EXPENDITURE_ITEM_DATE
    ,prl.line_num
    ,pp.name project_name
    ,pt.task_number
         ,gcc.concatenated_segments
    FROM PO_REQ_DISTRIBUTIONS ReqDistributionsEO
    ,po_requisition_lines prl
         ,pa_projects pp
         ,pa_tasks_v pt
         ,gl_code_combinations_kfv gcc
    where ReqDistributionsEO.REQUISITION_LINE_ID = prl.REQUISITION_LINE_ID
    and prl.requisition_header_id = 14247-- :1
    and pp.project_id = ReqDistributionsEO.project_id
    and pt.task_id = ReqDistributionsEO.task_id
    and gcc.code_combination_id = ReqDistributionsEO.code_combination_id
    Please help.

  • How to execute query only when user submits request in af:query

    Hi,
    I'm using an <af:query> based on a named view criteria. The view criteria contains a bind variable. When the web page is initially rendered the query is executed and the result is displayed in an <af:table>.
    Instead, I want the user to trigger the query by pressing the Search button in the <af:query> form.
    Is there a way to configure such a behavior without coding?
    Sorry, if this is a faq, but I didn't find a suitable answer for my problem.
    Any hints are welcome,
    Markus

    Hi Frank,
    it is not that easy, I'm afraid. In 10g apps, I used a combination of two iterators. One Find-iteratior and one iterator for the resultset. The resultset iterator had the refresh condition set to ${adfContext.postback}. But with 11g, it does not work. The result is rendered when the page comes up.
    What has changed from 10g to 11g? I have discovered the fact, the table does a second (asynch) request to get the resultset from the server when attribute contentDelivery="lazy". Changing the attribute to contentDelivery="immediate" the page comes up with an empty table and the user can enter the query criteria. The solution works fine as long as you stay on the search page. If you navigate to an 'Edit result' page and then back to the search page, the table is empty again (thanks to the postback condition). To solve the problem you have to work with a second flag in the refresh condition which indicates that the user has triggered a query. This is the background for my last posting (' Can I set an <af:setActionListener> on the search button of a <af:query>?', Re: Can I set an <af:setActionListener> on the search button of a <af:query
    Any other recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Markus

  • 5200:Error executing query: null

    I am getting the error message 5200:Error executing query: null when trying to run a report that was perfectly fine a week ago. I searched on the internet and running the utility DeletePOV.cmd seems to resolve this issue for a lot of people. My issue is, I'm not sure what I need to modify in this file in order for it to work for me. I have tried just double clicking on this cmd file and nothing happens.

  • Passing Parameter before execute-query?

    I want to do the following scenario, please I need help so I can do this.
    On Execute query i want a parameter to be passed.
    For Example
    I have a table of employees, and if any user executes query on employees form then before execution of query, form must first asks to give it a department name then it executes the query and of course we will get the result of that specific department.
    I hope i have made clear what i am looking to do. but i need help here.
    Thanks in advance.
    Maz

    Several ways
    May be the easiest:
    . define a non-DB Item (of apropriate type) ahead of your block to be queried,
    may be in a new non-DB-block (depends on lyout of forms
    . check on pre-query if there's a value given and abort if empty
    . define in the where clause of the block: emp.columns = :<block.crit_item>
    where crit item is the above mentioned non-DB-Item.
    More effort for the following alternative:
    . define a window
    . define a content canvas (for the new window)
    . define a non-DB-block with a non-DB-Item
    . set focus to that item on KEY-EYEQRY (assumes that key-Exeqry is called in your query process) and ask user to enter the value
    . redo query (KEY-EXEQRY on that block or add a button), this includes to set focus back to your daa block and do exe-qry there
    . set where claus in analogy to above.

  • Enter and execute query in ADF

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to implement Enter-Query/Execute-Query in adf and using Jdev 11.1.2.2.0. I put Find and execute operation on the form. When i press execute button i says me to enter value for mandatory fields. But i am try to execute query not trying to create or update records. In forms we can query on any attribute.
    Please guide
    Thanks

    Enter and execute query in Oracle Forms starts with a simple row by row form for updating a table. When you press the "Enter Query" button, the form clears and the user can enter query by example criteria for any of the fields on the form. Then the user presses the "Execute Query" button, and is back in the update form, but with the data for the first matching row shown.
    Here is a page with some links to articles by Steve Muench that explains some ways to implement this in ADF 10.1.3 - I think these techniques should still work in ADF 11g:
    http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/2006/02/13.html#a658
    Another way with ADF 11g might be to put an af:query component in one facet of an af:switcher and the update form in the other facet. The Enter Query button on the update form tells the switcher to switch to the query facet, and executing the query also tells the switcher to switch back to the update form.

  • Help: data validation before save or after execute query

    Hi,
    The issue that I have are:
    1. A form allows user to insert and save records. When user press the save button, Instead of have an oracle error message: "FRM-40508: ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record," I'd like there be some step taken to send an alert to user if the user does not enter the date meets the fields constraint(s).
    2. Same for the execute query button, when there are no records return from the query.
    Thank you.
    Jimmy

    Thank you all, 437901(error or informative?), Ajani, Denis and Steve. It worked out with ON-MESSAGE trigger by catching message_code.
    Thanks again.

    In Oracle9i forms developer Reference Guide, the example is misleading:

  • Execute query  run fine with numeric data not give result on string data

    Hi master
    Sir I use under blow code for execute query
    sir when I use numeric data then run fine but when I use character data then not give any result
    with numeric run fine
    DECLARE
         DD VARCHAR2(15);
    BEGIN
         DD:=10;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, 'where DEPTNO='||DD);
    go_block('emp');
    execute_query;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, '');
    END;
    With character not give any result
    DECLARE
         DD VARCHAR2(15);
    BEGIN
         DD:='SALESMAN';
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, 'where RTRIM(EMPNO)='||DD);
    go_block('emp');
    execute_query;
    set_block_property('emp', default_where, '');
    END;
    Please give me any idea

    bro it is not working on string format coz of the missing quotes. e.g. 'smith' or smith. so the quoted string will be compared. in set_block_property u have to include extra quotes on the variable. e.g.
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,'where ename='''||:emp.ename||'');
    or with conditional statement
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,'where ename='''||:emp.ename||''' and dname='''||dept.deptno||'');
    there i included two extra qoutes before joining ename and in the an extra quote to complete to string. if u would like to debug at runtime to show if the qouted string condition is proper then assign the where clause to a variable and message it up.
    like
    myvariable:='where ename='''||:emp.ename||'';
    message(myvariable);
    message(myvariable);
    set_block_property('emp',default_where,myvariable);
    after the string is quoted properly the execute query will work fine, also use the function upper or lower to compare strings.
    zaibi.

  • Fields disappear/hide after pressing execute query

    Hello,
    Something strange happens when i give execute query. When i give execute query , one field seems to be disappeard but when i click on the field it appears again. I am not sure if this has something to do with visual attributes/display properties...
    This happens only after migration to 10g. Can anyone help me on this please.

    Hi,
    I increased the size of the window and decreased the size of the field. When I pressed execute query then, the column appeared but when I clicked inside the report, different areas disappeared and appeared..
    Can you pls help me with this issue.

  • Clearing Form when changing from Insert Mode to Enter/Execute Query

    Morning folks,
    I need some help or pointers with a form I am working on. At startup, the form is in Insert mode. I am using Oracle Forms 9i.
    Goal: Clear the form with NO_VALIDATE when User enters an ID in Insert mode and clicks on the Execute Query button(DEFAULT&SMARTBAR Inbuilt Menu)
    The user can do two things when they first open the screen.
    Option 1: Enter the STUDENT_ID and press Tab
    Option 2: Enter the STUDENT_ID and press the Execute Query button (Part of the DEFAULT&SMARTBAR Inbuilt Menu)
    There is a When-Validate-Item trigger on STUDENT_ID to check if the Student ID already exists in the database. If it does, it gives an Error message saying "Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID". This is fine with Option 1.
    The problem arises with Option 2. When I Enter a Student ID in Insert Mode and (thinking I am in Enter Query mode) and press the Execute Query button, I get two messages:
    Message 1: "Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID"
    Message 2: Oracle message "Do you want to save the changes? Yes/No/Cancel.
    Is there a way to stop this *Message 2?*
    Here is what I have done to try and mitigate this situation. I have created a non database field and have called it clear_form.
    In When-Validate-Item I set the field clear_form = 1 when I encounter *Message 1*
    {code}
    if t_record_exists > 0 then
    set_alert_property('ALERT_ERROR',ALERT_MESSAGE_TEXT,'Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID');
    alert_button := show_alert('ALERT_ERROR');
    :clear_form := 1;
    end if;
    {code}
    By creating *Key-EXEQRY* Trigger at Form Level, I was hoping that it would just clear the form. I put some messages and its seems to me that *KEY-EXEQRY* is firing first and then the *WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM*. Is there a way to have the *WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM* trigger fire first?
    {code}
    if :clear_form is null then
    execute_query;
    else
    clear_form(no_validate);
    end if;
    {code}
    Thanks!

    Having the actual Student_ID column from the table is dangerous, since it is also the key to the student's data. What if the user properly executes a query, showing a student's data, and then wants to look up another student, so keys in the new ID. If he then presses Execute Query, the Form asks "Do you want to save your changes?"
    If the user presses Yes, the new ID becomes the previous student's key.
    It would be better if you put the student_ID field in a control block. Then, the user enters a Student_ID, and presses Execute Query, the query then populates the student's data in the Base Table block. In the B_T block, the actual Student_ID column should be hidden.
