Auto-insert digital signature

Using LCD 8.1
Is it possible to generate a non-interactive form with a digital
signature already in-place?
We're generating invoices out of SAP and need to have a digital
signature in place when we email the PDF to our vendor.
The digital signature will always be the same and
it should be fine to embed it in the form so it can be generated in a
background process where we don't have access to a network drive.
Could someone give some direction in how to do this?
I'm familiar with putting the field on the screen & locking down
values after the user clicks on it, but can't seem to figure out how
to automatically insert it on form generation.
Thanks a lot,
Robert.

The LiveCycle Digital Signatures ES module has the ability to add signature fields (add signature fields operation) to static PDF documents.

  • Insert digital signature to form

    Hello all,
I have to insert a digital signature (NOT picture of scanned signature) into a form created in ABAP .
For example in the  transaction VF01 we create an SD order , which is automaticcaly attached to an email as  PDF FILE and it is send by email. And we want the attached pdf file (order) to be automatically digitally signed.
We have set up Adobe Document Services and set up the SSL connection. But how can I "tell" the form in abap (SE71) , where the digital signature will be inserted?
    Any help will be appreciated
    zdenek

    Hi Zdenìk,
You can find the signature field inside the Livecycle Designer.  When you have your form open, click on the Library tab, and the Wed Dynpro Native sub tab.  In there, you will see a field called Signature Field.  This is what you want to use for digital signatures.
    Hope this helps...
    Cheers,

  • Digital Signature - Auto-Populate Multiple Signature Fields

    Hello,
I am in the process of testing digital signatures with PDFs.  I have a Topaz Signature Pad working in conjunction with Acrobat 9 and Reader 9 so that I can insert digital signatures with no problems.
We are wanting to take this a step further and streamline a particular business process.  Does anyone know of a way to have a digital signature auto-populate multiple designated signature fields?  We have about 15 documents that require an employee signature in multiple places and rather than having someone sign a document over and over again, we'd like the option for a single signature that auto-fills in all the required signature fields.
This doesn't necessarily have to work with Topaz Signature Pads.  I am completely open to other suggestions, products or methodologies for making this work as long as something can be automated to auto-fill multiple signature fields.
    Many thanks to the forum!
    Regards,
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,
Maybe there is no need to re-inent the wheel. Auto-population of forms is a feature of SignDoc - se http://www.signplus.com/en/products/signdoc/features.php#Form_Preparation
Auto-filling of forms is requirement which can be achieved through various processes.
In combination with Adobe LiveCycle this is executed in the case study of Adobe/SOFTPRO.

However there are also other ways to move forward depending on the envrionment you are using.
If you are based in the US you may want to get in touch with Rod Vesling SOFTPROs E-Signature Specialist, based in CA near LA, for a chat. His office phone is 805 435 1214. His email is [email protected]
Depoending on the deice of Topaz you are usinfg you may start right away as quite a decent number of Topaz tablets are supported by SignDoc. However the best idea might be to give Rod a ring and idscus your business requirements in detail.
    Kind regards

  • Want insertion of Digital Signature not to require a save

I have an issue that I would appreciate someone's help on. I have been with Adobe Tech Support via their portal. Yet I have not been able to establish whether what I want to accomplish is doable.
What I have is a document that actually consists of several documents, which in aggregate comprises our application for persons wanting to drive for us. For the sake of this scenario please understand that the document is not to be broken up into multiple files. It is created as a single document to facilitate the management of the numerous applicants by in-house staff.
Anyway - this form has multiple digital signatures. The department head insists on this as each section of this document has information to be attested to as original and accurate. However, we find that only the first digital signature is used to certify the document, and any additional serve only in a "confirming" capacity.
So we have this document with multiple digital signatures, the first of which certifies the document and the remaining as "confirmation". And all of these digital signature fields are set as "required" in their properties. The form is developed and presented for testing. So we enter just one of the several digital signatures and attempt to save the file. What we expected to happen was the pop-up of a dialogue to point out that all of the required digital signature fields were not completed. But no such warning arises, and this circumstance "raises an eyebrow" or two within the firm, who expect this edit to appear.
Based on recommendations from Adobe support I go out to the developers site and research scripting. After several hours I come away with a script that will indeed spawn a message when any digital signature is missing. However, another problem arises. After closing out the dialogue box and inserting the first of several missing digital signatures I am immediately required to save the file. The save works and here we have the form with several digital signatures still not signed. This allows the user to forward on the form to us, at which time the file will be reviewed and returned to the user for further completion. And in the event that only one of several missing signatures is entered, and the file again saved and forwarded, this scenario has the potential of being repeated several times.
Is there any way through scripting for the insertion of the digital signature not to spawn a save of the document? Thanks!

Is there any isight as to how this is done?
I am currently opening a file from Teamcenter engineering, however if I try to save the file it complains there is another copy open elsewhere (which isn't true).  I have to export the file first, save it and then check it back in.  It seems to be the only area that behaves like this, as I am able to markup the document add pages, etc and save the document just fine.
If I could remove the save as function and just use "Save" I think that this would help.
    Appreciate any/all replies!
    Regards,
    Sean.

  • Outlook 2013 won't auto-save emails if encryption or digital signature is enabled.

In Outlook 2013, I recently noticed that although I have Autosave enabled, I never get drafts autosaved. The option is located in File > Options > Mail > "Save Messages" section > "[ ] Automatically save items that have not been
sent after this many minutes [3]."
Experimenting with why I have lost 2 long emails after system crashes, I discovered that Outlook 2013 will
only automatically save emails if the Encrypt and Sign buttons are turned off. By default, I enable both in our corporate environment. So I never benefit from auto-save. I've changed the Autosave location and tested various other settings to
no avail. But Autosave always works fine if there's no digital signature or encryption enabled.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a bug?

    Hi,
I just tested on my Outlook 2013 and experienced exactly the same.
This is pretty much by design, actually you may find you are even unable to manually save these emails as drafts if encryption or digital signature is enabled.  I can also confirm some email service providers don't allow saving Encrypted Emails
as drafts either, so this is not a bug but how it works in Outlook.

  • Can Acrobat auto populate a date field upon digital signature of a form?

We use several fillable forms with digital ID signature fields.  A business rule requires a date field next to the signature field.  Is it possible to define the date field to auto populate once the user signs the form?  I can't check this in Acrobat since I only have the reader.

    Hi,
The short answer is yes, but of course you'll need to get Acrobat to edit the PDF file.
Generically, here is what  you are looking to do:
Open the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    Select the Signed tab
Select the This script executes when the field is signed radio button
    Click the Edit button
Add the code snippet below to the JavaScript editor
Click the OK button on the JavaScript editor
Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
// JavaScript code to add the date at signing time
        var currentTime = new Date()
        var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1
        var day = currentTime.getDate()
        var year = currentTime.getFullYear()
var signingTime = day +"/"+month+"/"+year  //Modify into your preferred format
var f = this.getField("Text1");  //Modify the field name as necessary
        f.value = signingTime;
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • Once a form has been signed with a digital signature, why can't you insert a bookmark?

We are using Adobe 9 on Windows XP, I'm not sure what the forms are created in.
I understand why you wouldn't allow a form to be changed once it's been signed digitally (because the person is attesting to the contents as they are when the person signed the form). I don't understand why we can't add bookmarks to pages in the form? The bookmark technically is a change but not a substantive change to the form. Is there a way to add links to places in the form after a digital signature has been created?

    Hi Christic3,
This is a bit geeky, but here goes. Think of the PDF file in two layers (there are really more, but we'll keep it at two for simplicity). The bottom layer is the PDF content such as fonts, structure tags, and pages. The top layer is form data and comments (aka annotations). When you sign the PDF you sign everything (both layers), but the only allowable changes to the file are additions to the top layer. You can add form data and comments, but you cannot modify anything in the bottom layer without breaking existing signatures. In fact, you can't change (by change I mean modify or delete) anything on the top layer either, but you can add new (unsigned) items.
Bookmarks are part of the underlying PDF structure. Because they are as integral to the underlying structure as anything else, the ability to modify the bookmarks is locked after signing, otherwise it would be too easy to break the signature.

  • Digital Signature automatically inserted for batch processing

hey guys... hope you can shed some light...
Is it possible to generate a non-interactive form with a digital signature already in-place?
We're generating invoices in batch processing and need to have a digital signature in place when we email the PDF to our vendor. The digital signature will always be the same.
I did see this in the LCD help:
"You can use Adobe document services to sign a document, validate a
signature, select the collection of objects to lock, or certify a PDF
document programmatically. This workflow is ideal when a large number
of documents require a signature because they can be signed in a batch
    process.
To sign PDF documents in Adobe document services, configure the web
service for secure access using the secure sockets layer (SSL). For
details about this configuration, see the Adobe document services
    Configuration documentation."
I have a link to the older ADS config document [-Here-|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/30a9630b-4f89-2a10-6fab-e311b3ffd9a6] and am in the process of looking through it.
However, has anyone done something like this already?

    Otto,
    thanks!
    I hadn't checked out the demo - i didn't even know there was a demo program provided . BTW, it's FP_TEST_07.
I do believe you're correct that it needs to be an interactive form - that wont be an issue for us.
There is some documentation floating around that we're trying to piece together - we have our Basis team configuring the ADS for SSL connections.
From what I've seen, I think we have to store our signature in the ADS and attach it at run time.
Too many moving parts - I don't like it when I have to get more than 1 group involved to complete a develoment item.
I'll keep this thread updated as we progress.

  • How do I create a digital signature to use when filling out applications online?

The application is asking me to add or create a digital ID to sign and encrypt documents. The certificate that comes with your digital ID is sent to others so that they can verify your signature.
I have four options: Browse for an existing digital ID file
Configure a roaming ID for use on this computer
Create a self-signed digital ID for use with Acrobat
Look for newly inserted hardware tokens

Formscentral does not support forms with digital signature workflows. I suggest you see if our Echosign product meets your needs.

  • Multiple Digital Signatures in Adobe Acrobat XI - PDF locks after first signature is saved

I am working with a fillable pdf that was set up by an administrator to have multiple DIGITAL ID/SIGNATURES inputted, i.e. it does not allow images of signatures or text; when you click on the signature field, it ONLY prompts the insertion of a Digital ID. This form requires multiple signatures and editing/text from diverse people. I need to sign it and then circulate it to these other people. For some reason, when I insert the first digital ID and save it, the pdf becomes locked - it is no longer fillable, and no one else can edit or even insert their own signatures. What can I do to allow editing/additional signatures to be inputted after putting in my signature and saving the document? PLEASE HELP.

I don't know where I could post it...Could you please tell me how I might check if signature fields are set to "read only" or not? I have been looking through this pdf for so long and I don't even see the option to do that. When I click on the signature field, it just prompts me to insert the digital signature...there isn't much information displayed at all.

  • Digital Signatures from VB

    Hello,
I am trying to digitally sign a bunch of pdfs from LotusScript (it is VB6-like). Till now I am able to insert a signature field in a document but not sign that field. My problem is I could not find a way to construct the required SignatureInfo object for the signatureSign function.
    Until now I tried to:
    - pass {password: "xxxx" reason: "No reason", contactInfo: "[email protected]"}
This would result in a "Wrong argument type" error
    - create a custom type oInfo with members password, reason and so on, then dimming and populating a variable of that type and passing it to the signatureSign. Would return me a Type mismatch error.
    - calling the signatureInfo method of an empty signature field thus obtaining a "valid" SignatureInfo object, but when I try to assaing some values to a property I get "PASSWORD is not an instance member" error. This happens with reason, name or any other property
    - calling the signatureInfo method of an already signed field. I could read the name or reason properties, but trying to overwrite the password prop would result again in "PASSWORD is not an instance member" error.
The only way I would not get an error, but Acrobat would still silently fail to sign the field, is if I pass an array to the signatureSign function. But since I have no idea in what order the SigInfo object expects its properties, couldnt test this scenario further.
Like I said LotusScript is vb-like, so any vb or vb.net example of the signatureSign function, or usage of any other generic JS object, would be extremely halpful!
    Thanks
P.S.: Acrobat Version is 8.1 Prof.

Thanks for your reply PDL. After two days research it did point me in the right way.
For everyone having the same problem here is my solution:
You wont be able to sign a document using only vb code, since, for example, the securityHandler.login function is restricted and may be executed only "inside" acrobat (i guess reading the documentation carefully does help!). So one solution would be to create a trusted function in acrobat's javascript folder and use that from vb with fields.ExecuteThisJavaScript("myProtectedFunction(a,b,c,d,...);").
I guess executing a menu item would also work, but i couldnt find a way to pass any arguments this way.
Still no idea on how to construct those javascript generic objects in vb, so any ideas would be greatly appreseated

  • Digital Signatures: Multiple Tasks and Signers

    Hello, All-
Context: We have a repair and overhaul operation that has several technicians performing maintenance. Basic workflow: product comes in, gets the paperwork for the specific maintenance, and then travels through the facility to be broken down, serviced, rebuilt, tested, and returned to service. We would like the "paperwork" to be all electronic (which we can do with Acrobat by using PDF documents), but there are several tasks that require a technician's signature. Not a digital signature for the WHOLE document, just a task in the document.
Objective: Multiple technicians signing off on mutilple tasks, all in one document.
Questions: Can we modify the document (i.e., add/insert pages) in Acrobat after a digital signature is applied using the Reader? Do those signing off on the tasks only need the Reader to create and apply the signature files? Can multiple signature files be stored in a centralized location, since technicians use work station machines (rather than a computer issued specifically to them)?
Doing some investigation for the best solution. Sorry for the series of long questions.

    > "No. However, this can't be done in Reader under any circumstances... Reader is just that, a reader of PDF files. It can't edit them in any meaningful way, like add new pages (unless a special template was set up for this purpose)."
    - I should have clarified: we would like to modify the document using the full Acrobat Suite after digital signature. Signing once locks the entire document from further edits.
    > "Not 100% sure about that, but I think the answer is no. Signatures have to located on the local machine."
    - That's a problem: then every technician needs a digital signature on every machine. Not suitable at an enterprise/department level.
I just found an answer to the basic concept, as it was answered just yesterday (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1338837): I can leverge the Stamp feature and create a custom stamp to act as a signature. I can still modify the document after applying the stamp.
Now the test: can others remove my stamp?
Edit: Thanks for the help, BTW. I see you edited your answer to question #1. Again, maybe the stamp feature is sufficient?
