Auto Starting E530c and E545 laptops

I have been trying for ages to get both of these models to auto start for updating purproses. These machines are stored in a cart so no matter what route I took, I enabled them to stay on even when the lid was closed. This cart is wired with network and power to each laptop as well. The routes I have taken:
1. Wake on Lan. At best this works 20% of the time. I set each laptop up, test it and then put it back into the cart. Once the cart is full, I do a full WoL test and every single unit turns on. I leave for the night and let the scheduled task try to turn the laptops on overnight... most don't. I have been pulling my hair out, changing settings all over the place but it always works in limited tests but then never works in mass.
So I looked into other options:
2. RTC Alarm (aka: Auto power on at a certain time in bios)... but this setting is not in the bios. At least, I can't find it. If it is there, please let me know. There is a good chance I am blind!
3. I would even take just auto turn on when AC power is plugged in. Again though, I can't find any option in the bios for either unit.
So... is there some secret setting to making WoL work all the time? Is there a RTC alarm setting in bios? Is there an auto turn on when AC power in bios? Any of those solutions would work for me!

I was wondering if was something to do with VLANs being mucked up, since I only use 4 (it tells me I can't use more than four if I try to use more), plus it used to all work until a power interuption.. hah!
would removing vlan.dat then a reload force the router to re-write without any suspected problems ?
I've just pulled off all the encryption, and vlan3 works, but simple wep back on... and the client can't see the dhcp-offer going back....

this should not be happening, maybe one of your addons is interfering?! - can you try running firefox in safemode or with all extensions disabled for a while and see if this behaviour is still there...

Unable to auto-start cache and replication agents

Auto Start Apps. and hiding when logging in!

Im getting so mad, why when I add a app. at log in to auto launch it always opens it to the screen. I have set it to hide the program at launch. I find it useless if that is the case. Any help would be appreciated.

Skype/Pulse audio problem only if auto started

Hi,
I've an Arch/XFCE laptop including pulse audio and Skype (configured to use the pulse audio).
Skype has been configured (using XFCE startup menu) to auto start during boot ( we boot daily), and, till about 2 weeks ago, worked fine.
Ever since, Skype starts but isn't functional (while trying to connect to the test service I can't hear anything, not even the dialing), and, after a few minutes, starts with a constant loud noise (which stops, once I quit Skype).
Interesting, since the problem has begun, once I do either of the following, Skype returns, and remains, to be fully functional without any noise:
1. Quit the auto-started Skype, and immediately relaunch it.
2. Cancel to Skype auto start, and manually start Skype after XFCE becomes visible.
Looking at log files (below), I've seen some pulse audio related errors which I couldn't solve and may be related.
I do a full system update (almost) daily.
I'd be happy to return to the former state (functional auto-started Skype). Please advise

How to turn off iTunes auto-start when iPhone connected?

The option "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" is disabled (grayed out) in iTunes 10. The grayed-out check box is unchecked, yet iTunes starts every time I plug in my iPhone 3G. I would like to be able to plug in my phone without iTunes starting. Is there a way?

Right. Un-checking the preference to prevent auto-sync re-enabled the auto-start option. Then I was able to check and un-check the auto-start option and re-check the prevent auto-sync preference. Now all seems well. Despite appearances (the un-checked option), the internal setting was in the wrong state and twiddling it seems to have set things right.
What a boneheaded user interface, where items on widely separated parts of the UI affect each other invisibly.

Auto Start-Up in OS 9.2 ??

Does OS 9.2 have a scheduled auto start-up and auto shut-down option like 10.4 does?
I have a G3 Wallstreet which had 8.6 on it. I just installed 10.2 because I wanted to use the screen saver feature to turn the machine into a Photo Display. But, 10.2 doesn't have Auto start-up and shut-down features like 10.3 & 10.4. (can't run these later ones on the Wallstreet).
I seem to remember 9.2 had it (and 8.6) but I can't be sure. Before I go out and find a 9.2 CD I thought I'd better ask.

I just installed OS 9.2.1 and discovered that the Energy Saver / Schedule tab is not as you described. I only have the option of: "Wake up the Computer" and "Put the Computer to Sleep", with days of the week to choose from and time settings.
Maybe what you have is part of an update from 9.2.1?
What version are you running?

I have an apple tv 3 but when i use Home Sharing from my Windows Laptop the Apple TV shows all my music on the TV but it will only play 1 or 2 songs and then stops!!! Annoying, so I have to re-start iTunes on my Laptop and it will play 1 or 2 more songs

Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version. You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes. Or you can adapt to the new look.

The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

I have factory reset my phone twice.. I have disabled iCloud settings.. I looked up possible downgrading options.. which isn't possible. I feel as if my iPhone 4 was offered the update so I was forced to get another phone

The feature to auto-start and/or auto-stop iTunes playback is a disaster. A good idea poorly implemented perhaps, or maybe not possible to implement well. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us a setting to turn this off! MANY MANY ENTRIES ACROSS MANY FORUMS! (e.g. Apple Discussions messageID=9937311) I will consider switching to another smartphone for this reason alone, it's that big a nuisance.
