Auto Updater Off?

I am travelling to Vietnam this week, and I enrolled in the ATT "World Traveller" plan so I could use my phone while there.
I was told to turn off the "auto updater" feature of my iPhone to prevent running up extra charges. I thought it would be an easy feature to find and turn off on my phone, but alas, I can't figure it out. Wish I would have had the ATT guy talk me thru it...!!!
Can anyone here help me with this?
Hopefully someone has already dealt with this issue and can show me the way!
THANKS!!

Accessing the internet via wi-fi with the iPhone has nothing to do with at&t, or with any cellular provider or cellular data network. Accessing the internet via an available wi-fi network with the iPhone is no different from doing the same with a computer.
Data Roaming is off by default with the iPhone. You can leave wi-fi on with your iPhone to access available wi-fi networks at no extra charge from at&t. Turning data roaming on with your iPhone will allow for accessing the internet via the cellular network being used with your iPhone while there, and any data downloaded or uploaded via a cellular network when roaming internationally will be an additional charge by the KB downloaded or uploaded. Keep data roaming off - which is off by default, and you will only be able to access the internet via an available wi-fi network when wi-fi is on. Some wi-fi networks may be free, and others may require payment for access - just as in the U.S.

  • Turning AUTO UPDATE OFF

I just bought an iPod shuffle 1gb and i'm having the following problem.
I have a huge mp3 collection divided into different cds. The thing is that everytime i send mp3s from a CD to the iPod and reconnect the pod (withouth having the CD in the CD-ROM tray) it automaticaly updates my iPod and erases the songs that were excluded from the ITunes LIBRARY.
How can I turn this auto-updating option off and manually send music files to my iPod without losing the previously sent ones ?? PLEASE !!

Plug in your iPod, go to edit - Preferences. Press the iPod tab, and select manual update.

  • SBS2011 workstation auto updates / can IE upgrades be specifically turned off ?

    SBS2011 workstation auto updates
I have a weird situation that requires the client pc's to run lower versions of IE and can't use 3rd party browsers (must be IE).  I would rather not turn auto updates off completely but the IE version updates is killing us.
Can the IE upgrades be specifically turned off while allowing the other updates?

there are internet explorer blockers to stop ie9 or 10 from being installed if that helps.

  • Phantom Usage - iPhone Auto Update of Apps - How to turn off?

Since upgrading to 2.2 the "Usage" of my phone has gone way up. Example, my phone since last charge has been on for 2 day 17 hours 15 minutes. My call time has been 35 minutes, however my usage time has been 2 hours 55 minutes. I talked to Apple and they have had reports on "Phantom" usage. That is Apps and system software not shutting down. All the rep could do was to make me an appointment with the Apple Store 3 hours away.
Under setting's I have about 10 Apps that are in the "AutoUpdate Settings List". I think this could be the problem. How the heck do I turn this Auto Update Off????
    Thanks

I've had my phone come back from sleep with the red number around app store when I haven't opened app store lately. I thought that was a normal feature, like mail.
You mean it should not do that?
I cannot find any setting which controls it however.
PS. I have no idea if maybe it is getting that info through itunes sync or wifi or wireless or what -- I just know it mysteriously pops up without me looking.

  • DevMeta initializing Auto Update

When Lightroom 3.3 starts up and the Library folders fill there is a message and progress bar at the top left (area used for export) which initiates with ' Wait a moment' ...or to that effect...and the action that is happening is DevMeta Initializing Auto Update.
I don't recall this being a common activity.
The routine is to import as dng initially.
This message appears on every start up of the catalog.
Is there a setting for this or has it been there and I never noticed.
    Rose

DevMeta changes metadata - that's its job (to update develop settings metadata based on develop settings).
To deal with the present situation, I recommend:
    - Manually update develop metadata before dealing with metadata save flag.
    - Also, depending on your workflow and your personality, you may want to consider turning auto-update off.
Personally, I leave DevMeta auto-update on, but turn ExifMeta auto-update off.
PS - If you are not adding metadata externally, its generally always best to save from catalog to disk when resolving conflicts.
If there is any uncertainty, you can use ChangeManager to generate a list of differences between current state of photo (in catalog) and what's in xmp (on disk).

  • I want to turn off auto updating on my Mac 10.4.11 How do I do this?

    # Question
I want to turn off auto updating on my Mac 10.4.11 How do I do this?
When firefox tries to upgrade (without asking) it tends to upset my Mac's usual functioning.

You can go into Edit, then Preferences, then Advanced, then update, and set your update settings there.
    Also, FYI, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-x-104-or-powerpc-pr https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-x-104-or-powerpc-pr]

  • When firefox trys to auto update, or I manually download the new version, or some but not all downloads off of the web, I get this error message. C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

First off, when firefox trys to auto update, it fails. It tells me to try and download the new version from mozilla's site. When I try to download the new version I get this: (C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.)
This is the same message I have been getting when I try to download other things off the net. (When I use other browsers to download I dont have this problem)

    Please help.
    It is getting worse
Adobe flash player is crashing. I already uninstalled and re installed the latest ver. Also it is hanging randomly.
    Please help.

  • How does one turn off link auto-update?

When we have an ID file open in CS6 and make a Photoshop edit, the link seems to auto-update. We don't like this as we'd rather 'watch' the update so if comes in as expected, etc.. Can one turn off link auto-update? Thanks!

Are you making the edit by selecting the graphic frame and then choosing Edit Original? This will always auto-update.
If that's not it, you might try clicking Preferences > General > Reset All Warning Dialogs

  • AIR runtime on Windows 2003 Server - switch off auto-updates???

    Hello,
Trying to switch off auto-updates in Win 03. Have tried:
    - Adobe settings manager
    - Updating Windows registry keys
    Nothing works..updates are still requested
    Any ideas..?

Could you check to see if a file named updateDisabled is present in either of these two folders (I suspect the Win 2003 folder would be similar to XP)?
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\
    Window Vista / Windows 7
    C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\
That should take care of it on a per user basis.  For the registry, did you have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AIR\UpdateDisabled set to 1?

  • How to turn off auto update in numbers?

G'day, working with a large spreadsheet... is there any way to turn off auto-update in Numbers?
    cheers
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
No. Numbers recalculates the whole table when any change is made to that table. The use of (multiple) header rows, header columns and footers rows exacerbates the issue. There is no way provided to shut off the auto-recalculation.
Feature enhancements requests (for future editions) may be made using the Provide Numbers Feedback item in the Numbers menu (or by clicking the link in this message).
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How can i turn off auto-update?

This auto update feature is driving me crazy. i recently downloaded songs from my cds onto my computer. I then put these songs onto my ipod shuffle and they all played fine. i do not want to keep all these songs on my computer, so i deleted them. but when i plugged my ipod back into my computer, it automatically deleted those songs b/c they were no longer on my computer. does anyone know how to turn this feature off (in itunes 5)? thanks!

    Natty,
You don't have to use the
    b Autofill
    feature with your
    i shuffle.
    See its FAQ :
Autofill actually requires some action. You can manually click on Autofill each time you insert iPod shuffle, or you can use the "Keep this iPod in the source list" option to click Autofill any time and then connect iPod shuffle.
This lets you manually select what songs you want to add to the
    i shuffle
    , but that does
    b not
allow you to add songs that aren't on your computer.
    The
    i shuffle
is the one member of the iPod family that doesn't give you the option to
i Manually manage songs and playlists.

  • How do i turn off auto update for mountain lion OS?

Today my computer informed me it was going to perform an update and restart my computer.  This is a first for me with Apple products.
Does anyone know how to turn off auto-update?  When installing the software i ticked the box that disallowed auto-update but i must have missed doing it some other place in the upgrade process.
    Thank you.

Thomas... another bad answer.  When you say...
Your Mac will never force you to update.  WRONG.
When I updated to the latest software updates... I was asked if I would like automatic updates.
    Unfortunately, I pressed Yes.
Now, I'm in the middle of working on something and my display goes bright white... then I get a message that says "Installing Software Update"... then the display goes bright white... the computer turns off and I need to sign on again.
AND I can't find a way to turn off automatic software updates!

  • Why is Firefox intruding and sending updates when auto updates are turned off? This constant update wreaks havoc with add-ons

Why is Firefox intruding and sending updates when auto updates are turned off? This constant updating wreaks havoc with add-ons
Why is Firefox violating my computer?

I left "automatic updates" for Firefox UNCHECKED and left download when updates are found UNCHECKED. " Ask me wha I want to do" is CHECKED.
In English, that means don't automatically update and if updates are found ASK.
It does NOT mean ignore all the instructions and download!
