Autoconfig Template files vs Configuration files

hi,
I did not understand the proper difference between template files and configuration files...
can anybody tell me the difference in simple teminology.
thanks in advance

Autoconfig Template-Include named tags which are replaced with instance-specific information from the Applications Context. There is one template file for each configuration file.
On the application tier:
<PROD_TOP>/admin/template
For example:
<AD_TOP>/admin/template
<FND_TOP>/admin/template
On the database tier:
<RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/template
For example:
apps_nt.conf
apps_ux.conf
When autoconfig is run-it instantiates template files with values specific to the instance (taken from the Applications Context) and hence updates configuration files .
Hope this helps!

  • War files and configuration files

    Hi,
I'm trying to deploy servlets using a WAR file. Everything works fine except I can't read the configuration files from the servlet code.
The code reading the configuration file is as follows:
    input = ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("test.properties");
    properties.load(input);
Of course this code assumes that the file "test.properties" is in the class path.
Where should I put the property file in the WAR file so that it is in the class path?
If this cant be done, how should I structure my code around this problem?
    Im using Tomcat 3.2
    Thank you very much

I haven't had any trouble accessing properties files in the WEB-INF\classes using the following...
    public class MyAnchor
         private static Properties properties = new Properties();
         static
              URL url = MyAnchor.class.getResource("mywebapp.properties");
              try
              properties.load(url.openStream());
              catch(Exception e)
              e.printStackTrace();
    public static final String PROP_CONSTANT_1 = properties.getProperty("prop_constant_1");
But I have now run into problems when trying to create a WAR file with the J2EE Deploy Tool, which will only allow *.class files to sit in the WEB-INF\classes directory.
I'll be really annoyed if I have to change the properties file name to mywebapp.class just to get around this problem.
Has anyone else found this?? I know I can add the *.props manually, but again would prefer not to.
I'm hoping its only a J2EE problem and deploying to other servers will not have this requirement.

  • Can I change the content of a section in config data file use Configuration File VIs of LV?

There are  few sections in my .ini file, I need to change the content of a section in this .ini file. Are Configuration File VIs in File I/O fuction pallete able to do that?
    Thanks.

You should be able to.  Open the .ini file, read the key (if it exitst) delete it and write a new key (you might be able to directly overwrite the key but I havent tried this). Close the file with the write file? set to true and you should have modified the .ini file with the config vis.

  • How to pass parameters to configuration files

    Hello,
I have an application which uses several libraries and frameworks like log4j and hibernate.
Each library/framework is configured via its own configuration file, some configuration files are in xml format and others are in properties format.
Each configuration file has lots of specialized parameters that should not be exposed to the user but there are also one or two parameters that must be configured by the end user.
    For example:
The log4j configuration file has lots of specialized parameters that the user should not see, but there is one parameter that the user must configure: the path for the application log file.
    Another example:
The hibernate configuration file has lots of specialized parameters that the user should not see, but there is one parameter that the user musr configure: the path to the application database.
It would be great if we can have an user-configuration-file that contains only the parameters that should be configured by the user and leave the complicated and specialized parameters in their corresponding files.
I want to pass the properties defined in the user-configuration-file to the specialized configuration files.
    Any ideas to achieve this?
    Thanx

Thank you very much to all for the replies.
Ok, I can read the specialized-configuration-file into a Properties object, then read the user-configuration-file and merge the appropriate properties to get a complete Properties object.
If the library/framework can't be configured with the Properties object, then I will need to write down the properties into a new file and tell the library/framework to load that file.
I have used Properties objects and files before, but I don't have experience with xml configuration files.
Is the same applicable to xml files?
How can I load a XML files to an object and then update/add a particular property?.
If that's possible, then: how can I write down the XML object to a new file?
    thanx

  • Upload AE configuration file?

Once again, my AE started acting up. A hard reset didn't work, so I did a factory default reset. "How clever," I thought, "the last time this happened, I saved my base configuration file!"
The base station finally appeared in the list in Airport Utility. Then I went to File>Open Configuration File..., opened the base configuration file I had saved last time, and then... what?
Is there some way to upload the configuration once it's saved? I didn't see anything in the menus or the buttons or tabs of either the main Airport Utility window or the baseconfig window that looked anything like "Write Configuration File to Base Station" or "Upload Configuration File." I ended up just using the information in the old config file as a reference while I went through and did the setup manually. I might as well have had it all scribbled on a Post-It! What did I miss?
    Thanks!

Never mind - I just figured it out. If you select the base station in the left side of the main Airport Utility window and press <return> a new window opens. This enables the File>Import... menu item, and then you can select the configuration file and upload it.
Sure would be nice if there were something the manuals or the help files about this, though...

  • "Template import error: No VM configure file found" on brand new setup

Previously, I posted Console does not launch OVM 3.1.1, Win7x32 Firefox15/IE8 - Empty .jnlp file which was about VM Console not launching. Since this is a new installation, and it seemed to be a unique problem, I scratched the whole installation and started again from scratch. Everything, including the NFS file server, was re-installed from scratch CD OS installation.
The process is pretty straightforward once you're used to it, and in less than three hours I was ready again to import my first template (a template I had imported before). But now, I submit the the request, and almost immediately the process aborts. (You can see in the information below, that 1 second passes between the Import request (06:32:36) and the failure.)
Thing is, it takes about three minutes, even locally on the web server, to get an index of that large file (tar tzf), and at completion, the vm config file is listed.
Am I misreading the error? My web searches for enlightenment found only one good hit on this error, and in that case it appeared to be an "out of space" issue. In this case, though, I'm importing a 5GB tarfile into a 390GB, otherwise-empty file system, so I don't think that is the issue. The failure in ovs-agent.log is below. What other information may I provide to get to the bottom of this? (Thanks for any guidance/help, of course!)

How did you get the template to where you staged it?
I'd say the template is corrupt or you only have a partial template.
I did notice the call to the template is based on the short name of the host. Can you confirm the VM manager can access the http path via short name?

  • How to create bulk configuration files from a template for staging?

    Hello,
We have created a sample configuration for ISRG2 2901 Router.  The sample configuration is long, and with copy/paste it is possible to skip some lines, and it is difficult to ensure the configuration of every device is standardized due to this error possibility. What we are trying to achieve is first create a template from this sample configuration file, and then create configuration files for each device seperately and automatically. After creating this configuration instances, we want to be able to distribute the configuration files (and possibly the ios) to the devices during the staging phase. Since there are about 1000 2901 routers, creating configuration files is important?
From searching we have found the following tools:
    1) CCE (Cisco Configuration Engine): This tool seems to be very efficient for distributing the created configuration files. We may use the serial number of the device, and it provides almost zero touch provisioning of the configuration files to the devices. Creating the configuration file from the template seems to be manual, i.e enter the ip addresses of the interfaces, the routing tables one by one for each device. How can we use velocity template for device configs?
    2) Ciscoworks LMS Prime: It is possible to create a baseline template for the devices, and after getting the backup configuration of the routers, it is possible to compare the actual configuration of the device with the baseline template, and understand if there is any difference with each other. This is indeed very useful in order to keep the configuration standardized, we again could not find a way to create bulk configuration files from the baseline template.
    3)  Solarwinds Config Generator: This tool is useful for creating a configuration file from a template, but again not for automatically creating configuration files, and needs manual intervention.
    4) Excel Macro: It seems that some people have achived to automatically create configuration files with using an excel macro, but we could not find a procedure or tip of how to achieving this.
    5) Pearl or TCL/TK Script: Again since we are not software developers but from networking field, it is difficult to achieve a working form of this scripts or codes due to to lack of documentation and development experience.
So our problem comes down to creating a template from a sample configuration, and creating bulk configuration files from the template. Is there a specific tool or procedure to achive this purpose?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Best Regards,

  • DTW - Trouble using ODBC and Configuration Files

    I am using SBO SP1 PL2 and DTW 2005.
I have been making use of saving the configuration for the import of an object and then using the command line to run it, as described in DTW help under "Schedule Run".
I typically use tab-delimited files saved from Excel and the above method works very well.
However, I would prefer to use ODBC directly from the template tables I have in a SQL database. It works perfectly using the GUI within DTW, and it lets me save the configuration file, but when I try to run DTW from the command line using ODBC, I get these error messages:
Can not connect to ODBC data source.
    Can not get SQL handler.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can use DTW from the command line while using ODBC sources?
    Thank you.

    I've got the same problem.
I solve it once by editing the xml file's <ExID> tag from <ExID></ExID> to <ExID />
So the problem resides at the XML syntax.
My problem is that I lost the XML file I used and now I can't make it work again.
Have anybody found the solution at this problem or is there an updated version of DTW?

  • About the role of process configuration files

I have done some customizations in process template XMLs. I have done my major changes only in the work item type definition XMLs. I am wondering about the role of process configuration files or category definition files. When do I really need to update

    Hi Divya,
    Thanks for your post.
If you only did the changes on fields/controls in work item type, usually you needn’t update the process configuration and category files.
If you want add your work item type display in team project Web Access
Backlog board or Task board, you need to update the process configuration and category files, please refer to the detailed information in this document:

  • Imac is no longer able to open the Configuration file

    Hi ,
I have an imac ( ilamp) 20' connected to ADSL, via Netopia Router which is connected to the Airport extreme connected to imac, for the PB Aluminum Tiger 10.4.5. we both can connect. PB can print via imac/printer.
The imac is no longer able to open the Configuration file, when i enter the pswd which is correct, i get the message "The Airport Admin. Utility was unable to read the configuration of the selected base station an error occurred while reading the configuration "
My Beau updated Airport to V5.7, this is the first time since the update I've tried to access the conf. file for the imac which i have done numerous times prior.
I have a new base station Ip address 254.128.0 in Airport Utility Admin, on the imac which does not reflect my network settings anywhere, and is not what it use to be, i think, it was one value different than the PB.Base station IP. I do not know how it changed neither one of us changed it.
I tried using the Airport Setup assistant (imac), I received this message:
"Appropriate Airport hardware was bot found on this computer,if you recently
Installed, an Airport card, please shut down your computer$ make sure the card is properly istalled."
The imac does not have a card, nor do i think it needs one.
I would like to be able to at least open the configuration file.
Thank you for reading my post.

Hi Kes, a star for the company !
I made an error on my first post I have a Netopia modem, Airport router.
And so it remains, i guess that there must be an easy answer somewhere
that I am missing that I/we should read, some direction to that would be helpful, and I would be very appreciative.
As I said the password had been set, and it is not an issue of that being forgotten, i wondered if it was changed back to "public" tried, not it.
particular because everytime the imac wakes one of the folders on ( no one else in office just me and boyfriend and it is his work folder he has a copy on the PB.( the folder on desk top has been clicked on, the one with sensitve info, i have backed the folder up and secure trashed it, just in case some security issue hacking has taken place, thats closing the barn door after the fact.
    Good luck,w/ this Q.

    Hi Ychinnari,
According to your description, you found error in log file of reporting services, when you come to rsreportserver.config file, the DSN tag is empty.
DSN specify the database server that hosts the report server database connection string.  The report server database is created, this value will be encrypted and added to the configuration file. To solve the problem, we need to connect to either an
existing report server database or create a new one for this instance. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
Start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and connect to the report server instance for which you are creating the database.
On the Database page, click Change Database.
We can create a new report server database or select an existing database, then click Next.
Connect to the instance of the Database Engine that you will use to create and host the report server database.
Specify properties used to create the database.
Specify the credentials used by the report server to connect to the report server database.
Review the information on the Summary page to verify the settings are correct, and then click Next.
Verify the connection by clicking a URL on the Report Server URL page or Report Manager URL page.
For detail information about Configure a Report Server Database Connection, please refer to the following document:

  • Configure File Type Associations dosen't work for users

    Hi EB,
Does anyones knows how to set the File Type Associations for users ? It works for me when i'm logged in as Admin but not as a user. When logged as user it always ask to configure the file associations when i open JDev and even with JDev open it does not set it. I tried to find an article about that but couldn't find any.
    I'm using :
    winXP SP3
    JDeveloper 11g TP4
and i've sets all rights for autentified users on the folders and subfolders of JDeveloper.
    Thanks

I tried going on tool>preferences>File Type .... and associate projets and source and applications files with JDev check marking "open with JDev"... it didn't worked as user... it's just not saving my settings while reopening it it's never saved... at least i've been able to associate it in my Admin account then i can go back in user account and select open file with in windows, choose JDev and check mark "always open that file with that program" only after that the association is saved in JDev... but still it open the Configuration file windows at startup with the ones i already opened with JDev checked... anyway that's not a big issue ... only that i can't save those settings by the JDev environement while logged in as a user...

I'm using a relative path to my .pfx file for both the transportServerCredential and licenseServerCredential in the flashaccess-tenant.xml and my password has been scrambled using the Scrambler.bat.
Also, when I verify setup using http://<LicenseServer>:8080/flashaccessserver/flashaccess/license/v2 I get the message 'License server is setup correctly.'
Any ideas of why the Validator.bat can't read the configuration file?

I agree with you that if I can successfully playback content the license serve is setup successfully. Here is what I've tried and how I've set things up:
I have my license server setup (its the Protected Streaming version).
I'm using Adobe Media Server as my content/packaging server. I successfully served Vanilla PHLS sample streams to the sample Adobe Access player on iOS devices.
I have configured the Adobe Media Server to point to the license server and certificates as per the documenation and this Adobe Dev article (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobe-media-server/articles/content-protection-using-phds-phls .html). Since I am using a trial version of Adobe Access my .der files are the same for transport and packaging.
I am using the local key mode to remove one more variable (I have setup a remote key server as well).
I have placed a copy of the 'vod-policy.pol' policy file from the reference license server resources directory in my Adobe Media Server 'creds' directory and used the relative path '..creds/vod-policy.pol' in the httpd.conf file.
When I attempt to load the sample stream http://<mymediaserver>/hls-vod/sample2_1000kbps.f4v.m3u8 using the Adobe Access sample player on my iOS device I receive the following errors in the player:
    DRM error Major[3363] minor:[0] NSError:(null)]
From my knowledge of working with the Adobe Access Objective C library to create a PhoneGap plugin it appears that a decrypted playlist is not being returned by the Adobe Media Server. Additionally, I can find no information in the Adobe Media Server or Adobe Access logs that pertain to my setup.
I would love to have someone from Adobe speak to the problems I am having. I find the documentation to be hit and miss and most of my successful results during this proofing process have been from piecing together disparate pieces of information and trial and error. Information on using the Adobe Media Server with Adobe Access is limited to one Devnet article (above) and the help in Adobe Media Server that doesn't explain pathing to the license server or Java policy files in any detail.
    Colour me frustrated
