Autodiscover server name configuration?
I'm running Exchange 2010 with Outlook clients. I have Autodiscover configured and working. However, when a new user uses the autodiscover and does a "check name", the server returns a different server name from what's on my SSL certificate,
so when the user subsequently opens Outlook, he/she will receive the security alert saying the names don't match. How do I configure the server name being returned by the autodiscover service? I need to tweak it to match what's on my certificate.
I've run "Set-OutlookProvider -CertPrincipalName" for both EXPR and EXCH, and whereas they now appear correct when I run "Get-OutlookProvider", this has made no difference to clients.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Brad.
P.S. If this question has already been answered numerous times, please resist the urge to swear at me and simply point me to the other posts. Once again, thanks a lot!
Thanks for the quick response!
However, according to
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/6432dea0-e5a2-4cc2-afb8-24c89c18dc47/, "Set-ClientAccessServer AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri" is for domain-joined machines. My clients are not domain-joined.
That same discussion mentions "Set-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -ExternalUrl", but quite frankly I don't think the URL is the issue. It's the server name specifically that I want to change. I'd like Outlook to be trying to connect to secure.mydomain.com,
rather than servername.mydomain.com.
Thoughts?
Brad.

I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions. It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The
server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26- Error:Locating Server\instance Specified)
How Can i solve this?1. Make sure SQL Server Service is running
2. If a named instance, make sure SQL Server browser service is running
3. Make sure SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections
4. Examine the SQL Server error log for messages confirming that SQL is listening on the expected network interfaces and ports
5. Test server connectivity with PING from the client machine
6. Test port connectivity using TELNET or PowerShell to the server and port (from step 4) from the client machine. For example
a. TELNET <server-name> 1433
b. PowerShell: 1433 | % { echo ((new-object Net.Sockets.TcpClient).Connect("YourServerName",$_)) "server listening on TCP port $_" }
7. Check firewall settings if step 5 or 6 connectivity test fails

Problem with SCs that created before the Name Server was configured
Hello,
I have created an SC and developed it.
When I created it, the Name Server wasn't configured and because of that, when I created new DC for this SC I needed to write the vendor manually. Lets assume I wrote example.org.
Sometime after I did configured the Name Server and I reserved example.org as a namespace prefix.
When I create new SC and new DCs in it everything is OK: Instead of writing example.org as my vendor I can choose from a combo box between sap.com and my own which is example.org.
The problem arises with the SC that has been developed before the Name server was configured: If I create new DC for it the vendor is shaded with sap.com inside with no option to change it, even though the previous DCs for this SC were created under the vendor example.org (which I entered manually).
I assume I can (with a lot of manual work) create new SC and move the DCs (or only their code) to the newly created SC, where I have the option to choose, but I am looking for more simpler solution. For example, changing a certain configuration file at the SC or so.
Anyone has an idea?
Thank you in advance,

Incorrect/Corrupt Farm Configuration database server name
I have a SharePoint 2007 farm (version 12.0.0.6219) with a corrupt configuration database (SQL Server 2008 R2) consisting of a Central Administration server and a database server for Windows SharePoint Services Database. In a failed attempt to move the configuration
database to a new SQL server, the farm is referring to a SQL server that no longer exists. All databases on the new SQL server have been successfully moved from the old SQL server, but SharePoint does not recognize the configuration database. The network name
of the old SQL server has been aliased to the never SQL server, so the farm is operational. But the
Servers in Farm page states the old server as the configuration database server.
After doing my own research, it appears to me the issue is in the Objects table in the
SharePoint_Config database below.

It looks like all I’d have to do delete row id’s ...E1F704E35A94 and ...45408E818ED5 (<red>red</red> row #’s 8 and 2) after shutting down all SharePoint Web Applications and services. Then update
Old SQL Server with New SQL Server. Possibly even deleting row ...B0EF78226512 (orange row # 3) could be done as it appears to be an orphaned part of the configuration. These ids are not referenced in any other table in this database.
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Sorry it looks like my table rendering didn't work as intended.
----->Executive Vectorare you using the SQL alias to pointing to the Config Database server?
did you stop all the timers services, admin services other services before moving the Config DB and configuring the alias to new server.if you did not then it will corrupted.
If you are not using the SQL Alias and using the sql server name then you cannot move it.
you need to rebuild new farm with creation of new Config DB, then create SSP /Web apps and attached your content Database.
Directly playing with the Config Database is not a good idea at all and i am sure deletion is not supported in any means.

65636B6F2F3230313030313031204669Hi,
Please clarify me the following.
You specified the login name as 'SADMIN'. Is this the login id, that you used for your Operating System? "Entered name account authentication gateway server name" expects you to enter the NT login, not the DB login.
You may also expected to specify your network name, if your login id is specific to a network. e.g Oracle\Rajkumar assuming that Oracle is your network and Rajkumar is the user name.
You may not expected to have the DSN created, as Gateway may not be interested in knowing which DB you are connected to. And you neither enter the 'DB name' anywhere in the 'Gateway Server Configuration', if my understanding is right.
Please confirm.

Exchange 2013 mailbox name resolving vs. exchange server name (mailbox rule)
Hello guys,
I am running exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 CU7 in hybrid mode, while internal autodiscover a record is pointing to exchange 2007 client rule server.
When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2007- I can use autodiscover using mail address ore resolve mailbox name vs. exchange server name.
When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2013- I can configure it only using autodiscover mechanism ( email address - next- next etc.).
We are using EMC backup software which works with MAPI. Since I wasn't able to restore granular mailboxes, I contacted EMC and they claimed that it's very important to configure mailboxes resolving.
What should I check and configure to make it work?Hi,
I think if we want to browse single mailbox by backup software, it will be regard to resolve mailbox name using server name, I suggest you contact EMC supplier to improve it.
By the way, they I type mailbox name which located on exchange 2013 server database and typing exchange 2007 cluster name, server name of exchange 2007 cluster changes automatically to exchange 2013 server on which this mailbox located.
A: first, we should make sure cluster was worked without any problem. Then make sure Exchange 2013 mailbox server was included in cluster.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
Best Regard,
Jim

Hi,
I published my Exchange 2013. But when I configure my exchange server by autodiscover, it does not show my exchange server name in Server Settings. Instead it shows the following information
[email protected]
and instead of showing my name it shows my email address in Username.
I cannot configure my email address manually by giving server name and exchange proxy settings.
Can you help me how can I change the settings to show my Exchange Server name in Server Name of Outlook and my display name in Username.
Regards,Hi,
Firstly, I'd like to explain, it's an expected behavior that the server name is filled with mailbox GUID + @ + primary SMTP address suffix in Exchange 2013.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124251.aspx
To get the server name, you can login OWA and check the option "about".
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

Change the Exchange server name in outlook
Hello All,
Configured two Exchange server 2010. Both server have Mailbox, CAS and HUB installed. All the user use outlook (Exchange Client). All outlook configured with exchange server host name not mapi name. Now i need to change the exchange server name in outlook.
Is there any procedure to change the Exchange server name for outlook automatically. Please suggest.
ThanksHi,
Let’s begin with the partition named when RPC endpoint Changes in the following article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/aljackie/archive/2013/11/14/outlook-rpc-end-point-and-pf-the-microsoft-exchange-administrator-has-made-a-change-that-requires-you-quit-and-restart-outlook.aspx
“To add further on the cas array, the Outlook clients with an existing Outlook profile would continue to use the old RPC endpoint rather than the new RPC endpoint (even though Autodiscover detected the change). This is because the old RPC endpoint does not
return an ecWrongServer response to the client. The RPC endpoint accepts the connection; therefore, Outlook ignores the Autodiscover response because it has a working connection.”
In this case, except with recreating a profile, we can move mailboxes to force the Outlook client to do a profile discovery and update the profile based on new information.
For more information about moving mailboxes, please refer to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124495(v=exchg.141).aspx
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

Exchange 2013 outlook server name is my owa URL not hash
i was migrating from exchange 2003 to 2010 to 2013.
after the migration and i install the exchange 2013 with exchange 2010 and configured it. the outlook not working with users that migrated to exchange 2013, and working well with the users already existing on exchange 2010.
when i try to fix this issue i set my outlook provider using this commend Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName
"msstd:mail.mydomain.com"
but unfortunately it's impacted the server name in client outlook.
then i removed the outlook provider and create it again. but with no change. then i uninstall the CAS server and install it again but with now change too.
now the outlook server name is my URL "mail.mydomain.com" and i need to recover it to be hash like "[email protected]"
the outlook client version outlook 2010 sp2 & and outlook 2013Hi,
Is there any error when you connect your Exchange 2013 mailbox in Outlook? Also confirm if the problematic users can access Exchange 2013 mailbox from OWA.
Generally, Outlook uses Autodiscover service to auto setup Exchange account in Outlook. We can check the Autodiscover service in Exchange 2013 (mail.mydomain.com is pointed to Exchange 2013):
Get-ClientAccessServer | FL Identity,fqdn,*autodiscover*
Set-OutlookAnywhere -Identity "Exch13\Rpc (Default Web Site)" -InternalHostname mail.mydomain.com -ExternalHostname mail.mydomain.com -InternalClientAuthenticationMethod Ntlm -ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod Basic -ExternalClientsRequireSsl
$True -InternalClientsRequireSsl $true
Also make sure the name which is used in the AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri has been included in your Exchange certificate with
IIS service. We can restart IIS service by running IISReset /noforce from a Command Prompt window.

Server name in outlook profile
Hi everyone i am going to do the migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
I am worried that that old exchange server addres will be stored in the mail profile of the Outlook.I am worried that outlook may not work.
Going and changing server name manually would be difficult ie rebuidling outlook profile.
My exchange server is an internal exchange not connected to outside world.
Please guide me how to solve it.(After the migration i will give the exchange 2013 server ip the old ip i used for exchange 2007)Hi ,
After moving the mailbox from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 there is no need to rebuild the outlook profile if we have the autodiscover feature configured properly for exchange 2007 and exchange 2013.
Moreover the exchange sever name for exchange 2013 mailboxes will be their exchange GUID.

N8: Mail for exchange and changing server name?
Hello,
I did setup company mail for my new N8 using mail for exchange. I entered email address and username and phone automatically discovered company mail server name. I would like to change that server information but I can't. If I go mail for exchange properties I can't edit server name?! How can I manually set up server name?Hi,
I had the same Problem with my N8. The only solution was to delete "Mail for Exchange" profile on the device. After that all contacts, calendar entries and mails wehre deleted.
Now you start from scratch... and create a new Mail for Exchange Profile with the correct settings.
Maybe It's a Problem with your company Mailserver (Active Sync/ Autodiscover) Setup. In my case the autodiscover Funktion ist not correct configured on the mailserver. During Mail for Exchange configuration I will be asked for the correct mailservername. I'm not shure what happend if the autodiscovery function is properly set up. Maybe you will never see a dialog to put in your Servername. -
(I'll upload screen captures if needed once my account gets verified)
I have a basic (as in freshly installed single exchange server 2010 SP3) Exchange Server installation. I've setup Outlook Anywhere. I've also setup a SAN (SubjectAltName) certificate.
My setup:
ex01.eci.XXXX.XX = is the server name and also the CN of my SAN certificate
mail.eci.XXXX.XX = an A record I've setup to access my exchange server. It is also a subjectAltName in my SAN certificate
When setting up Outlook, I enter the server name and specify the Outlook Anywhere proxy server in the Outlook Anywhere section. This works fine and I connect to my exchange server using RPC over HTTPS.
Now, I was under the impression that specifying SANs in the certificate would allow me to enter the SAN alt name (mail.eci.XXXX.XX) in the field reserved for the Server Name, in Outlook..
But it does not work. The proxy will give me an error each time, like that:
HTTP 544 RPC_IN_DATA /rpc/rpcproxy.dll?mail.eci.XXXX.XX:6002 HTTP/1.1 , NTLMSSP_NEGOTIATE
HTTP 635 HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized , NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE (text/html)
HTTP 123 HTTP/1.0 503 RPC Error: 6ba
My question is: is this the behaviour I should expect? Or should I be able to specify the SAN alt name in the Server Name in Outlook?
Thanks!Hi,
Firstly, I’d like to explain, the server name tab should be filled with your mailbox server name in the process of configuring Exchange 2010 account.
And the Outlook Anywhere proxy server is configured at the server side and cannot be randomly defined at the client side. To check it, we can run: get-outlookanywhere |fl externalhostname
Thus, it’s an expected behavior that we would get error if we randomly enter name in the server name tab when we configure an account. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
Additionally, Autodiscover service can help us automatically complete the configuration of the Outlook account. And how about the result if you use the Autodiscover to automatically configure the account?
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
Angela Shi

Problem when we created the managed server to configure different ports.
I am trying to configure different ports for admin console and my communication service as we can’t share admin port to the outside world.
So that only admin can access admin console using admin port.
And out side clients can access my webapplication using different port.
For this i have created the managed server in weblogic.and I deployed the application on managed server.
Now admin server is running on 8001 port and my Communication Service application is running on 7001 port.
But when I tried to configure MBeans related to myCommunicationServiceApplication those were disapper on admin console. And the other wlng services are appearing on admin console.
1. Since my application deployed on managed server MBeans registration happened from myapplication hence it’s disappear on admin console.
Now If I want to configure Mbeans (related to my communication service) how can I configure it?
2. My communication service using configurationStore module and other wlng services.
When I tried to start my application on managed server I got the below error:
<Apr 28, 2009 12:22:44 PM IST> <Error> <Deployer> <BEA-149231> <dscp11166.TechMahindra.com> <Unable to set the activation state to true for the application 'wlng_nt_qualcomm_active_mediation [Version=1.0]'.
com.bea.wlcp.wlng.api.storage.configuration.ConfigurationException: Configuration store module is not available.
3. I tried to target all wlngResources to manged server by editing config.xml file.
Then all wlng services disappears on admin console. If this is the case how can I configure container/account services on wlng?
I have created the Basicweblogic domain.
Below is the config.xml for reference.
"QualcommServer" is managed server name.
Can any one please suggest me how to configure this kind of scenarios?

Thanks,
Srinu Babu PDear Nariharan,
Today I faced a simlar issue, and this SAP Note helped me fix it: 1966807 - Duplication of AET table records in change processing
In my case, cardinality of AET table was 1:1, and I was getting duplicate PARENT_ID every time when trying to create a subsequent service request for my activity.
