Automate Extraction of PDF attachment/PDF package

Hi,
Can any one help me in my problem? This is my poblem, I want to extract all PDF file in a PDF package or PDF with PDF attachment using VB.net or C# .net automatically? Or maybe I can use scripting method here to extract the PDF attachment.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Buddy

Hi, I have the same problem as Buddy (except I'm using VBA and am a newbie). I have several PDF packages that were created with 'Acrobat PDFMaker 8.1 for Lotus Notes'. I have been successful in extracting the PDF messages using JSO, but not the attachments (mostly non-PDFs). I'm having problems getting the cName of the attachment by either using 'doc.dataObjects' with JSO in VBA or 'this.dataObjects' using JS in the console.
If I add an attachment (.txt file) to an extracted PDF message that already has attachments that were created by the Lotus PDFMaker, I do get the cName "Untitled Object" back for the newly attached file, but it will not give me the name(s) of the other attachment(s). I either get a runtime error in VBA or a 'null/has no properties' error at the JS console.
What am I doing wrong? Grateful for any help.
Thanks

  • Unable to attach pdfs after extracting pages

Immediately after extracting pages in Acrobat Pro, the ability to attach the file to email is not available.
I have tested this on multiple computers using Win 7, Outlook 2007 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X and it doesn't seem to work. This was previously working with Win XP.
In a multi page pdf document, I'm going to Tools > Pages > Extract, then Share > Send Files > Attach to Email, but the extracted pages can't be attached to an email as the pdf isn't automatically saved. The attach function works fine after the document is saved, but it wasn't like this before.
Is there a fix for this? It is a minor issue but it is an inconvenience to some of our users on Win7.

hi, I tried via the internet using Firefox, I can't even download the Reader pdf help files!. I can open exsisting pdfs that are on my computer. I didn't have any problems with the old V10 of reader, this problem has only started since installing v11.
    Thanks Bernd for your interest.

  • Is there a format for a file that I can use for attaching a one page document with photos embedded that will open in everyone's email automatically?   I've tried PDF and Word, but worked only in Mail.  Lost formatting when just copied and pasted in email.

Is there a format for a file that I can use for attaching a one page document with photos embedded that will open in everyone's email automatically?   I've tried PDF and Word, but PDF worked only in Mail.  Word worked in nothing.  I also tried copying and pasting the document but lost all formatting when just copied and pasted in email.  Is there a way to do this?

Are you sure PDF won't work? It should as what you're trying to do is pretty much what it is designed for (PDF - Portable Document Format). On a Mac anywone who receives the file should be able to see it in all its page layout glory by using the app Preview or Adobe Reader. Same on a PC, the file should be viewable as a PDF file using Adobe Reader and probably some other viewer (don't use PCs so not sure what other apps).
What application are you creating the file in and are you sure you're exporting it correctly in PDF format, fonts and images embedded?

  • How do I setup an automatic daily email with PDF attachment?

I would like to setup an automatic daily e-mail (that will send every day around 6 AM), with an PDF attachment retrieved from a web URL.  The web URL is constant (that is the PDF file name never changes).    Any ideas?  I've messed around with automator with poor results at best.  Thanks in advance!
P.S..... Apologies if this is in the wrong forum!

Just one specific email addres... myself.
There is an online report that is updated every morning at 5:30 AM MST.  The ideal solution would email that document to myself every morning.; thus when I wake up, it's sitting in my inbox (iPhone/Macbook/Gmail, etc.)

  • How to automatically view all attached pdfs in an Acrobat form?

    Hi!
I use an Adobe form that collates many different PDFs attached to various links within the form. When final review is required, I can (within that single form) click on each individual link, launching the attached PDF in a separate window. However, this is cumbersome and error prone (for example, a user might not see one of the buttons to click). I would like to generate a view where all the attached PDFs are displayed in continuous fashion, preferably right after the page where they were attached.
When this form is finally submitted, such a view is generated, so I know it is possible. However, it would be ideal to be able to review it in this format before it is submitted at all.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Link to the form is attached.

I tried another look but couldn't figure it out...but my javascript isn't fantastic. I looked at the example form that I think you got the code from and it works fine when Reader extended.
Here's a couple of links to tutorials from WindJack Solutions on the Acrobat User Community site - the first one should help alot, it shows how to do what I was mentioning above about putting all your code in one spot and using one table.

  • Extracting files out a PDF portfolio

This is my situation: I made a portfolio with several documents, including PDFs, DOCs and CHMs. Everything works the way it supposed to for PDFs and DOCs, I can read them and extract them, but not with the CHMs. I can't neither view or extract them, when I try to extract them it says "Acrobat no puede abrir el archivo adjunto porque la configuracion de archivos adjuntos PDF no permite abrir este tipo de archivo" which is something like "Acrobat can not open the attached file because the configuration of PDF attached files doesn't allow to open this type of file". The files are stuck inside the portfolio and I really need them back. My two-part question is: Is there a way to extract those files? and if not, What kind of files can be safely saved inside a portfolio?

CHM is a compiled help package for Windows, and as such is treated as a compressed archive by Acrobat. Compressed files are not permitted as members of a PDF portfolio, so they cannot be opened or extracted unless you edit your registry to override the security settings for Acrobat - something we don't advise, but if you search these forums there are a couple of posts that show the keys to edit.

  • How can I open a pdf attachment in Mozilla Thunderbird?

In my Thunderbird email account, I checked a box for MSWord to open all attachments, but I would like to reverse that decision since I got a pdf attachment, and MSWord doesn't open that. How do I change it back to the way it was so the pdf attachment can be opened with adobe?

Tools > Options > Attachments > Incoming tab
    * in the 'Content Type' column:
    * look for: Microsoft Office Word document
    * then look at the 'Action' for it
    * click on the current Action and select 'use Microsoft Office Word'
If this is already setup ok then leave alone and do the next step.
Is there a 'Content type' for Adobe Acrobat Document' ?
    If yes,
    * click on the Action and select 'Use Adobe Acrobat' or 'Adobe Reader'
    * click on OK
If there is no 'Content type' for Adobe Acrobat Document'
then click on OK and do the next step below.
    * Locate email with pdf attachment
    * right click on attachment and choose Open
    * select 'Open with' and choose 'Adobe Reader'
    * select 'do this automatically for files like this from now on.'
    * click on OK

  • Create Link to attached PDF file

    Hi guys
    I am having a nightmare!
I have been provided with a Word document which contains links to embedded PDF documents.  It all works lovely, you click on the link in the word document and up pings the embedded PDF in a new window.
My issue is that I now have to turn the Word document into a PDF to put on our website.
I have tried numerous ways of PDFing the Word document but none have been successful in maintaining the embedded PDFs within it.  When I open the PDFd Word Doc it can see that there is links, but when you click, nothing happens.
I have accepted there probably isnt a way to do this, so I came up with an alternative plan of saving all of the embedded PDF links to my hard drive, PDFing the original word document, attaching the embedded PDFs to the main parent PDF and linking to them.
HOWEVER! I cannot figure out how to link from the main PDF to the attached PDFs.  I can create a link but there doesnt seem to be a way to set it to open the attached PDFs (which ideally should open in a new window ..) ARRGHH!
    Help!
    Thanks

Sounds like you on a Mac. And Adobe has let this bug go on for 15 years with no intentions of fixing.
Take the word File and if You have Apple's Pages (part of the iWork package) and Open there (will be imported)
Verify That your formatting has not been changed. (Making sure all links work.)
If not  changed, create the PDF from there.
    Go to Print Menu
    Click on PDF and Hold
When window pops up choose Adobe PDF
Follow directions as the Pop up.
All your Links should be live. IF they were live in the Pages file.
It seems after 15-20 years Adobe programmers haven't learned various codes Word uses to make links, and. Even 2011 which used parts of Office 2007 and 2010 to create it. the only difference were UI (User Interface) and key mappings for short cuts.

  • How can I retain the attached .pdf files (displayed as icons) from my word file 2010 to a pdf file?

    Hi everybody,
I have looked for an answer in this forum ... without any good result.
I worked on a Word 2010 file with some attached pdf files. These attached files are displayed as icons on the word file. If you double click on them, you can consult them. This works very good.
Problem: I would like to convert this word 2010 file into a pdf file, which keeps the icons (linked to attached files) active. If I "pdf" this with my current system, icons are displayed as pictures: I cannot open the attached files.
My question is very simple: is it possible to retain these active icons (= to open attached documents) in a pdf file? Which adobe package should I use?
    Many thanks for your help
    cheers

No, it's not possible, but I agree it would be a very nice feature.

  • Can no longer open email PDF attachment in iBooks

Just discovered can no longer open on iPad mini any email attachment PDF file in iBooks.  Cannot tap attachment and select open in iBooks. PDF attachment opens itself automatically on the body of the email. Is this a PDF problem or iPad problem or iBooks problem.

It's not a problem with either app. Just hold down on the open PDF to bring up the "open in" window. If hold down on the open PDF and select "Quick Look" , that will give you the full screen file and you will see the share icon in the upper right corner.

  • When I attach PDF to an email, it uses the wrong email address

I recently added an email account to my Outlook.  It is not the default email account, but Acrobat defaults to that address whenever I attach a PDF to an email.  Within Acrobat, the Identity under Preferences includes the correct email address.  My MS Office applications use my correct, default email address when send from them.  In Windows, the correct email is set at the default email and Outlook is my default email application.  It is only Acrobat that defaults to the wrong email account.  How can I fix this?
I am using Acrobat 9 Standard
I attach PDFs to email my clicking on the envelop icon.  A new message in outlook automatically opens, but the "From" field in the new email message contains the wrong email address. I have also tried File/Attach to Email with the same results.

You are facing this error because Outlook is your default email Client and you have configured it for different e-mail Address than the one which you intend to send mail from.
So i would recommend you to either Add the other e-mail account( The one from which you want to send file)  in outlook so that you have a choice while sending the file.
    OR
You can remove the currently configured e-mail account from outlook, and reconfigure outlook for that e-mail address which you want to use for file sending purpose.
P.S.- Acrobat will always use the e-mail address associated with your Default e-mail Client ( Outlook in your case.)
Hope that answers your question. Please revert back for any other query or assistance.

  • Problem for Mail with PDF attachment

    Hello all,
I have a problem regarding sending mail with a PDF attachment from SAP. The attachment contains Payslip of employee that is being generated from a Submit program of the respective HRFORM. I have used the Submit program within a JOB and the spool request generated. From the spool request i am extracting the pages using FM RSPO_GET_PAGES_SPOOLJOB.
Now to convert the spool job to PDF am using FM CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.  And after the job is being finished, am deleting both the JOB and SPOOL.
To change the output of the FM CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF, into attachment with line width of 255 am using FM SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE. Then after filling all the required parameters for FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1, am sending the mail with the attachment. I have kept the format as PDF.
But the problem here is, the attachment is going as .DAT file and not as .PDF file!!!
Please help to resolve this issue.
    with regards,
    Koushik.

    Hello,
Instead of using SO* APIs to send mail you should use the BCS classes. Anyway there is a sample program BCS_EXAMPLE_8 which is very similar to your requirement
    Cheers,
    Suhas
PS: The sample program BCS_EXAMPLE_6 has got more to do with PDF forms as is your case

  • Why did Acrobat Pro X slow down attaching pdfs in Outlook 2003?

I've unfortunately joined the club of slooooow attaching pdfs to Outlook 2003 after installing Acrobat Pro X.
I can send any attachment other than a pdf to Outlook 2003 and it sends instantly/normally. Since installing Acrobat Pro X 10.1.0 there's an instant lag as soon as I click the pdf to attach it. Outlook appears to freeze for several minutes and during this time I can work in other programs. Then all of a sudden, everything is normal and I can send the email, with pdf attached like normal.
I'm running Windows XP, Service pack 3 and everything else in the 5.5 suite is working fine.
There was some discussion in the Reader forum regarding the subject but I wasn't sure if the fixes described would apply to the full Acrobat program.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
