Automated Unit Tests / TEST-INF/testrun.xml

Hello!
Regarding to the originial question here Re: Automated Unit Tests through NWDI / Purpose of testrun.xml I'll try to ask this question again:
Is it possible to run jUnit-Tests automatically during the build (cbs)?
A very promising looking file (testrun.xml) is not documented..
We're using the NWDI and CE 7.11.
Testdriven development isn't a new paradigm in the standard java development so it must be possible to do so with ce and nwdi.
Thanks in advance,
--cl

Hi Carsten
I guess that the testrun.xml allows to do exactly that you want - to run jUnit-Tests automatically during the build (CBS).
Though there is one small thing - I think that the tool which can understand the file and run the tests is SAP internal tool. So I doubt that having just pure CBS server it'll be possible to activate the automatic test execution process. It seems we need to have something more.
I also could not find any documentation regarding this on SDN. That's why I think the functionality is SAP internal.

  • Automated Unit Tests through NWDI / Purpose of testrun.xml

    Hello,
    I could not find any documentation on the test infrastructure / system that seems to be integrated into Netweaver CE 7.1. A DC offers the option via the context menu to "Add/Repair Unit Test Support". When this is used the Developer Studio automatically creates the necessary test source folder, JUnit library dependencies and a file called TEST-INF/testrun.xml.
    The first two things are clear, but what function does the testrun.xml file serve? To me it looks like it defines the Tests that should be executed (automaticaly during build?). However, the tests are never actually run.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <test>
      <run type="junit">
        <include>com.sap.**</include>
        <exclude></exclude>
      </run>
    </test>
    Can anybody expain how this file is though to be used? Or how to perform automatic unit tests during/after the build process?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi test developers,
    the integration of JUnit tests into the DC build is planned for 7.30. You can add your tests in a separate test folder and specify additional "test"-dependencies, if required. The tests will be executed during the DC build. If a test fails, the build will also fail. Generation of code coverage reports will be possible, too.

    Hi all,
    I am learning XPATH and XQUERY from the Book "Pro T-SQL 2008 Programmer's Guide" written by Michael Coles, (published by apress). I copied the Code Listing 12-8 FOR XML PATH Using XPath Node Tests (listed below) and executed it in my

    Hi Michelle, Thanks for your nice response.
    I corrected the mistake and executed the revised code. It worked nicely.

    I feel this xml output is not like the regular xml output.  Do you know why it is diffrent from the regular xml xml output?  Please comment on this matter.
    Thanks,
    Scott Chang
    What do you mean by regular xml document? Are you referring to fact that its missing a root element? if yes it can be added as below
    USE AdventureWorks;
    GO
    SELECT
    p.NameStyle AS "processing-instruction(nameStyle)",
    p.BusinessEntityID AS "Person/@ID",
    p.ModifiedDate AS "comment()",
    pp.PhoneNumber AS "text()",
    FirstName AS "Person/Name/First",
    MiddleName AS "Person/Name/Middle",
    LastName AS "Person/Name/Last",
    EmailAddress AS "Person/Email"
    FROM Person.Person p
    INNER JOIN Person.EmailAddress e
    ON p.BusinessEntityID = e.BusinessEntityID
    INNER JOIN Person.PersonPhone pp
    ON p.BusinessEntityID = pp.BusinessEntityID
    FOR XML PATH('ElementName'),ROOT('RootName');
    replace ElementName and RootName with whatever name you need to set for element as well as the root element

  • Automated Composite build/test not work with non-default version

    Hello,
    I have a BPEL composite and I am trying to setup maven and soapUI to build, deploy, test, and upon successful test, set it as the default version. The difficulty I am having is testing the composite before it becomes the default version. I am able to hit the endpoint using the full URL with the randomly generated ID in it using soapUI (see below), but not by using the shortened URL.
    Full URL: http://soabpm-vm:8001/soa-infra/services/default/Project1!0.0.12-SNAPSHOT*soa_13954572-b91f-480d-88d2-037e92083d72/bpelprocess1_client_ep
    Shortened URL: http://soabpm-vm:8001/soa-infra/services/default/Project1!0.0.12-SNAPSHOT/bpelprocess1_client_ep
    I tried hitting the shortened URL outside of the maven build, just using soapUI, and the response is empty. However, if I then mark this new version as default (through EM), and then mark a previous version as default (let's say 0.0.11), then the shortened URL for 0.0.12 can be successfully hit.
    It seems to me then that before the shortened URL above can be used, that specific version must have been set as the default version at some point. This would make an automated maven/soapUI test of new version (but not default) quite difficult, as it would have to somehow retrieve the full URL.
    Is this a bug or can it be fixed with a config setting change?
    Here are the steps in the process, maven build (using the Oracle provided ant sca files):
    1. Compile
    2. Package
    3. Deploy, not as default
    4. Test the new version (using soapUI plugin)
    5. If successful tests, mark new version as default
    The problem is with step 4, can't determine what the full URL is and the shortened URL does not work.
    Thanks
    Ben

    I found a similar issue in Oracle's support site, Patch 13774839 (based on bug 13569816). I will try that out and post the results here.

  • How do I establish a telnet session with unit under test?

    I am going to the next step as a novice and moving from serial communications to ethernet on my unit under test. I have been all over the help and discussion forums etc and cannot find an answer. I need to open up a telnet session with my unit under test and keep it open to send commands back and forth for control of the unit. Can anyone give me a hint of how I am to establish this communication? I have the IP address and I am using port 23 but I just get the session started and then immediately closed. The sequence of events will be: start the session, the unit will reply with a username and then password, after that I need the session to remain open so I can send commands as if I am sitting at the serial port. When complete the session will then be terminated. Thanks in advance for any help.

    If you want to do telnet using plain TCP, you need to do everything yourself, including the telnet options negotiation.
    RFC 854 should have most of what you need (look towards the bottom).
    Most likely, the server will propose a few options, which you should either accept or reject depending on your needs.
    Easiest is probably to use a packet sniffer on a regular telnet session, then dissect the negotiation to see what that particular server wants.
    RFC 990 has a list of telnet options, look for the section labeled "ASSIGNED TELNET OPTIONS".
    It should be simple to write some code that negotiates with one particular host. It will be more difficult to write a full-blown telnet client that does general negotiations with any type of telnet server.
    I have a small program that telnets to a router to do some configuration. The only thing I reply to the proposed options is:
    "\FF\FD\03\FF\FE\01\r\n" (In \-codes). Translated: "Don't suppress go ahead, Do echo".
    (FF=IAC "Interpret as command", FD=Do, FE=Don't, 01=echo, 03= suppress go ahead.)

  • Using Labwindows CVI Version 10.0.1 USB communication with FTDI FT2232D to unit under test.

    Communication with unit under test works fine in hypterminal after I downloaded virtual driver from FTDI site.
    Never done any USB communication before in LabWindows CVI. What functions can I use in labwindows CVI?

    Since the device presents itself as a COM port (pretty standard with the FTDI chips) you should be able to use the RS-232 library in CVI.  OpenComConfig() will open a connection to the device, ComWrt() will write data to it, and the various ComRd() functions can be used to read the responses back.

  • WEB-INF/web.xml not found exception for deployed war on server startup

    Weblogic server is throwing an exception indicating that it can't find
              web.xml on startup when a particular war file is deployed. The exception
              and my web.xml follow below.
              There are some other strange elements to this:
              1) The deployed war in the application directory has a valid web.xml in the
              web-inf folder.
              2) The war in the servers temp directory corresponding to my war contains
              only the files found in WEB-INF in the deployed jar, but not those found in
              web-inf (case matters). These files are in the root of the war, not in a
              WEB-INF folder!
              3) The servlets in the war do load and are invokable.
              4) If I redeploy the jar while the server is still running, I get no
              exception, and the temp war then has the correct structure (with a WEB-INF
              folder and contains web.xml).
              The exception:

  • META-INF/context.xml, Tomcat, META-INF/services

    I presently have a Netbeans project laid out like this:
    src
    src\java
    web
    web\META-INF
    web\META-INF\context.xml
    etc. Tomcat finds that META-INF/context.xml OK and does what I expect with it.
    I have recently added something that is loaded by java.util.ServiceLoader, which requires a META-INF/services/x.y.z file containing the name(s) of the classes that implement x.y.z. After deployment, my webapp's ServiceLoader doesn't find it, because in the target it isn't in WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/services/x.y.z. If I put it into src/java/META-INF/services/x.y.z it works correctly, as it then ends up in the right place. However I'm now concerned that either Tomcat won't find the context.xml if I put it in the same place under src, because it would then not be in /META-INF/context.xml but rather /WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/context.xml, which in turn would mean that I would then need two META-INF directories. I'm about to test that conjecture about Tomcat finding it under WEB-INF/classes/META-INF, but I'm wondering whether I'm doing something basically wrong in the first place here.

    You seem to think that you can have only one META-INF directory; this is simply not true. Keep both your META-INF directories and put the files where they are expected. Yay for using overlapping names :/

  • Using a Variable from web-inf/web.xml in java code?

    I would like to create a read-only variable with a value in the /web-inf/web.xml file and then access that value within a java service method within the Application Module.
    Where / how do I read the value from the web.xml file and make it accessible within my java code?
    thanks

    Hi,
    you can define context parameters in web.xml that you can access from Java in the web application
    The following is a JSF examle that checks a context parameter in a PhaseListener, where the string is stored ina Java constant (could be "myParam")
    ExternalContext exctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
    useSessionPageCache = exctx.getInitParameter(Constants.USE_PAGE_CACHE) == null ? false :
    (exctx.getInitParameter(Constants.USE_PAGE_CACHE)).equalsIgnoreCase("TRUE") ? true : false;
    From here you can call a method on the AM to set the value or look for another option.

  • ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml must contain one and only one root file reference."

    Hi all,
    After correcting a table-of-contents error in my .epub file, I am unable to upload it via iTunes Producer. It lists this error message:
    ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml in 9780615431727.epub must contain one and only one root file reference." at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    The file has been verified and only has one root file reference in the container.xml file.
    Has anyone been able to find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hello Forum Users…
    For those of you who have run into the upload roadblock, getting an error message similar to this:
    Package Summary:
    1 package(s) were not uploaded because they had problems:
              /Users/slm/Desktop/MUSIC to PICTURE for IBOOK/2012 MTP for iTUNES Bookstore/9780615600918.itmsp - Error Messages:
                        Apple's web service operation was not successful
                        Unable to authenticate the package: 9780615600918.itmsp
                        ERROR ITMS-9000: "OPS/ibooks.ncx(5): 'p50': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content9.xhtml'" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    Following is a "specific" fix, but the idea of the fix will help you with your specifics too.
    I tried for 17 days to upload a book that looked and worked perfectly in iPAD via Preview.
    After many discussions with Apple, who to their credit stayed with me over 2-3 days, I decided to play a hunch.
    I went into a duplicated copy of the book and on every page, (because the error message was not telling the whole story), looked for what InDesign would call "Overset Text."
    Now... the "flaw" in iBOOK Author (hint) is that it won't advise you of this "overset text" as does InDesign.
    And to compound the matter, the exported ePUB document WORKS in iPAD Preview.
    See Screenshots from InDesign:
      Okay... Couldn't add it but it is a Warning Box that says there is overset text. (Characters which exceed the text box.)
    Nevertheless, I played this hunch, and sure enough found a few boxes with the + in them.  In other words I clicked on EVERY text holder and every text block in the entire document.
    Where I found + signs, I simply deleted some carriage returns from the iBOOK file... (please note… carriage returns and literally empty spaces that caused the overset text) and then erased all previous copies of the Music to Picture Book on my hard drive,  iTUNES and iPAD.
    The result?  A "text-book" upload with no snags!  As my Son would say… "Victory!"
    So, first make sure that you are using only PNGs, Jpegs and Movie files to iBook Specs.  Then... make sure there are no overset text boxes, which you must do manually.
    Enjoy & Godspeed!

    I checked for classpath, and still no clue about what's going wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

    I believe this likely is a classpath problem. I'd start by using the setWLSEnv.cmd or .sh script in the kit. That should set the classpath correctly.
    Also, FWIW it wasn't required to run DDConverter. You could have used your 8.1 descriptors unchanged in 9.x as well.

  • Where to place /META-INF/context.xml ?

    Hi,
    Apologies, but this is a newbie question. In the tomcat docs, it states that
    "A /META-INF/context.xml file can be used to define Tomcat specific configuration..."
    Could you please tell me where /META-INF/context.xml is placed relative to web application root? In other words, if I have a web application in a directory /MyWebApp, should the /META-INF dir be in /MyWebApp/META-INF or should it be under /WEB-INF?
