Automatic browser language detection

I'm trying to test if this feature of forms 6i patch 9 really works. But it doesn't work in our server. We are adding next in formsweb.cfg

when we try the URL http://www.server.com/servlet/f60servlet?config=test it works fine, but when we change the default language in the browser to en-us, and we try the same URL, then it appears in the same language that the first. We are thinking that the second entry in the formsweb.cfg is not right.
Does anybody try this feature of this version???

I found an even easier way to switch languages: Language Switcher. Open *Language Switcher*, pick iWeb from the row of applications, select the language you want to use from the dropdown menu, and click "Launch".
By now I've tested it myself, and it works as expected: all new iWeb templates, buttons etc. appear in the chosen language, while previously made sites/pages remain in the language you created them in.
If you name your site after the language they're made in, even the folder structure looks just like a professional site! (like Apple.com: http://www.apple.com/fr/, http://www.apple.com/es/ ...)
Now I only have to look for some nice language buttons to include in my site!
(Never mind, I've found them!)

Browser language can not be used in applications during the runtime.
We are developing mostly German applications but database standard character set is:

Good to hear this is already being worked on.
When we tried to work around the "Automatic detection" bug - changing the "Application Language Derived From" to "Application Preference" or "Session" - we hit issue that some page processes were not firing in translated application.

Custom SharePoint Connector with FAST: Language Detection

Hello. I've got a custom SharePoint 2010 Connector working with FAST.
Almost works fine, but there is a little problem: FAST doesn't want to detect language.
And when I set any language in Advanced Search I've got empty results, because property DetectedLanguage is empty.
So, I've tried to set default fallback language (as it shows in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2711004)
But it doesn't help.
p.s. In SharePoint 2013 it works.

According to your description, my understanding is that set default fallback language does not work in your SharePoint 2010.
For your issue, you need to install the April 2012 Cumulative Update for FAST Search for SharePoint 2010 which allows you to define a fallback language and character set when automatic detection of the language and encoding fails.

How do I change the browser language in Firefox 4?

I upgraded to the beta version of Firefox 4.0, and my browser language automatically changed from English to German. How do I switch it back?
It seems that the option to change the browser language under ''Options'' > ''Advanced'' > went away with Firefox 4.0.; at least I don't see it anymore.
Firefox allows you to select your prefered language to view a website under ''Options'' > ''Content'', but this has no effect on the browser language.
Please advise.

Edit the value to the language shortcode you just downloaded, if this isn't done yet (eg: "en-GB" for british english, instead of "de-DE" for german!)
* Take care when editing the about:config file! This could damage your firefox installation.
* This solution takes just five minutes instead of 20-60 to download and reinstall Firefox in another language from scratch. Also, in case you have already other settings done, this could extend to several hours...

Automatic browsing

I downloaded the simple browser example from the NI-site and it works perfectly.
To solve a certain communication problem, I want to be able to automatically
browse to an URL and fill in an username and a password on this URL, automatically
too. Is this possible?
I can't use VI server or datasocket, because there is a firewall blocking
all communication except internet communication through port 80. Using port
80 with VI server doesn't work either, so it's a very secure firewall. So
that's why i'm now trying to communicate using a freediskspace account.
Does anybody maybe know another solution to this communication problem?

I don't think this is possible thru VI Server. The challenge here is to detect the textboxes on the web form (for username and password) and then putting the mouse cursor in those boxes before sending data thru labVIEW. You are using the ActiveX control to view the webpages in labview (i know the example you are using). webpage gets downloaded on the browser activeX control but there is no way (i think) to figure out the objects on the webpage and then getting reference to textbox before inserting text in it.

OBIEE 11g: how to automate browser clearing cache

We upgraded OBIEE 10g to 11g the implementation includes EBS SSO ( which works in 10g).
the SSO functions OK meaning when we login from ERP Bussiness selection responsibilities to the OBIEE dashboard page we can access it and the login succeed.
The thing is that when we change the responsibility to another responsibility the Application role of the user does not updated and the old role ( the user get again the first role that was assigned in the first login ) meaning the role was not changed with the new responsibility.
I think that browser cache find OBIEE session and connect to the session without call /* valueof(NQ_SESSION.ACF) */ APP_SESSION.validate_icx_session('valueof(NQ_SESSION.ICX_SESSION_COOKIE)')
So, to automate browser clearing cache ?

I think this situation is due to a feature of Weblogic
"+The browser caches user credentials and frequently re-sends them to the server automatically. This can give the appearance that WebLogic Server sessions are not being destroyed after logout or timeout. Depending on the browser, the credentials can be cached just for the current browser session, or across browser sessions.+"

I understand the advantage that helps to not make the login process more unnecessary. But I have to disable the feature, otherwise the end-user will not be able to change permission on BI /ERP responsibility and will have totally close the browser. The question is how to disable it (Weblogic feature) ?

Date/locale problems; first day of week / browser language

Hi,
I've been trying to create an event calendar PL/SQL portlet. My problem is that it reacts to browser language or something, so it goes all screwy when viewed with browsers in another language.
How can I force my portlet to be finnish and finnish ONLY. I DO NOT want it to change (first day of the week monday or sunday) depending on what browser the user is using. I have tried to use the third parameter to to_char(p_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy','NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE = Finnish') in all places but it has no effect. Database locale is correct ( I think, I'm not the admin) but still it happens. Chrome, Firefox, IE show different stuff depending on the browser language.
I'll admit it is not the most elegant coding ever (if it were I would have taken this into account and dealt with it!) but is there any way to just force my dates and date variabes to be finnish, period.

For public sessions, Portal will indeed investigate the browser language. Pending on the browser language, Portal can display in specific languages. Only when users login and set a language explicitly, will we maintain the language setting, unless the user switches browsers again.
The Portal DAD settings will indeed overwrite your system wide setting of NLS_TERRITORY. The dads.conf will have something like AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. If you want to overrule this in your portlet, you need to find a way of overruling the NLS_TERRITORY in the session. This can be done with dbms_session.set_nls('nls_territory','FINLAND');

I get a message that says an incompatible web browser was detected when I click a link on a certain web site. it said try using firefox or mozilla or internet explorer. I got firefox and it still says the same thing. I just got my computer saturday and havent changed any settings.

Browser Language Setting not effective in Application Module

I am using "LANGUAGE = SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','LANG')" in WHERE clause to fetch List data based on User's Language. I saw this in JDev 11g's Fusion Order Demo sample.
It seems that i always get data where LANGUAGE='US', as my AM's locale is always set to en_US. If i set my browser to have "fr" (French) Language, i see that UI Hints for Entity based view objects are displayed in French , but the List data keeps coming back in English.
I also kept some debug statements in prepareSession of AM and i see that "ADFContext.getCurrent().getEnvironment().getRequestLocale()" changes as per Browser Language , but "session.getLocale()" is always set to en_US. If I change AM configuration for jbo.default.language and jbo.default.country , then "session.getLocale()" is changed accordingly. Shouldn't this Locale change based on what user's browser is configured.?

How to determine browser language settings?

Hi,
i want to create a flash chart diagram in APEX 4.0 with dynamic column names (series name={here the dynamic column header}) depending from the browser language setting. How can i determine the browser language setting in the flash charts sql?
Or is there any other way how i can create dynamic column header for this purpose?

Just wanted to remind you that APEX has a substitution string called BROWSER_LANGUAGE that holds the current browser language. No need to define extra application item and computation.

Also, if working with multi-lingual is a major motive in your application, you should learn how to use the APEX translation mechanism. It will save you the need to define your own language mapping tables and a lot of ‘CASE’ statements. It can be a real time saver. You can start here:

Translation problem - using browser language

Hi,
I have an application with french as the primary language and english as the secondary. To switch between both, i'm using an application item.
When i'm on the application in french (application item set to french) the login page shows correctly using the app item value. But when i'm trying to branch to a secured page, if i'm not connected, i'm redirected to the login page.
This is ok, but the page is displayed in french AND in english at the same time. Dynamic content is displayed using the app item which is ok, but not the page items and buttons. They are displayed using my browser language instead of the app item.
The problem seems to come from the "Session not valid page" field in the "Authentication Scheme" which I set to the login page.

Dynamic browser language setting

Hi,
I need some information on internationalization.
Let me explain the issue..
In my application I need both English and Arabic views. It is possible to Change the language through internationalization.
But one more issue is there for Arabic language. I hope u all know that Arabic letters are from right to left. So I have to change the Browser Language settings also to Arabic..
But in my application it should be handled by an event. If u click Arabic button, you should get Arabic browsers and if English you should get English Browsers.
Can anyone help me on this dynamic browser language setting?

How to turn of "Automatic Start/Stop Detection for HDV Caputre

Hello,
I'm pulling my hair out trying to capture HDV 1080i-50 without getting separate clips created by the metadata at the start and stop of each shot. It's that feature called "Automatic Start/Stop Detection." I'm not talking about "Make new clip on timecode break."
How can I turn this Start/Stop thing off. I don't want all these **** clips everytime the cameraman hit the record button.
Anyone know how to turn it off so it stops making separate clips?

Yeah, Andy. It helps to have the manual!! THANKS. It says... Select or deselect "+Create new clip on Start/Stop+ checkbox in the Clip Settings Tab of the Log and Capture window."
It's strange that I was looking for that kind of a box in all the various settings but not in the log/capture window.
