Automatic closing of SAP GUI generated by RRI in WAD

BW experts,
I am having a showstopper scenario in our project.  Basically i have a webbased report produced by WAD 7.0 and it is working correctly.  I have an RRI connected to it.  The RRI receiver is an ABAP program which we execute based from the item in WAD (i.e document number).
However, it always open 2 browsers. 1 is for the SAP Gui session generated by RRI and 2nd browser is open due to the code we have in our abap which calls a browser (CALL_BROWSER).
My question now is, is there a way to put an IF-THEN condition somewhere, perhaps in javascript, where the 1st SAP gui session can be killed immediately and the 2nd browser opened?
I have already used different components like RRI, ClOSE_WINDOW, Script_item in WAD but with no avail.
Any ideas is highly appreciated.

Hello,
I’m glad that you answered me. Your feedback was helpful for me and a source of good news for our project.
I saw the B1DE form generator, it is still axed on the screen painter, and also I saw Ibai’s project.
I realize that SBO developers need a more powerful tool for developing their add-ons. For the same reason we have started this project and we’ll continue to develop it.
This is not just a .srf generator and converter. A powerful feature is that our visual objects have implemented the business objects from DI API (of course you choose with what business objects the visual objects are associated, obviously for performance reasons). The business logic can be made at the designer level. It is improper to say that they generate code because the code is embedded in the visual objects, and no code line is added. For example a complex choose from list can be made in a few minutes without any code writing. In a month the SBO UI add-on generator will be ready. So you can have the add-on developed with Axel Controls in Windows forms without writing hundreds of lines, and additionally with a click the SBO UI add-on will be generated automatically (srfs, functionality, menu and the .exe). And let’s not forget that the Windows forms solution made with Axel Controls has the same feel and look as the SBO.
If you still have ideas or suggestions please post them.
Regards,
Andrei Baciu.

  • Unable to Print Purchase order automatically using SAP GUI for JAVA

    Hi SAP gurus,
Some of the PC's in our company use windows and some LINUX. Therefore we use two types of SAP GUI. One for windows and the other one JAVA. PO approval was set to print automatically. In a windows setting, there are no problems with this setup. But in SAP GUI for JAVA, no print outs are produced and no error messages are displayed. I am using SAP GUI for JAVA version 7.10 ver 6. and I use Front end printing for linux access method G.
    please help,
    gungertz

    hi gungertz,
You can use U type access method for printing SAP document using linux desktop.

  • RRI Jump Works with SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 3 but not with Patch 4

    Hi,
I have an a RRI  jump to an R/3 transaction working when executed via  7.20 GUI for Windows - Patch 3.  However, the same jump does not work when executing with an updated GUI to patch level 4.  There is no error message, nothing happens.  I tried recreating the RRI with the new GUI patch and it didn't solve the problem.
I saw a couple of OSS Notes taking about enhanced security for patch 4, i.e. 1526048 & 1397000).  Is this related?
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
    Thanks,
    Sheila

    Hi Martin,
where did you get this info? Any official SAP note available? Do you encounter similar problems?
We, too, noticed that uploading and downloading files from directories with German Umlauts, this fails now, too. There may be problems with files, too, however, we did not check this so far. The previous SAP Gui, I guess it was 7.10, didn't have any problems with this.
I start wondering if SAP Germany have ever tested this? Or do they not use Umlauts anyway

  • SAP GUI gets closed when executing the transactions SE38 and SE80

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I am new to this forum and SAP too. I am part of BASIS.
This issue is regarding transactions SE38 and SE80. The system gets closed when trying to open the transactions SE38 and SE80.
I checked the authorizations, it is fine. The copy user works well.
Then found that it may be regarding  SAP GUI.
    For solution, referred: https://scn.sap.com/thread/2099868
    Steps:
          Uninstall the sapgui
Manualluy delete the folders related to them like
             X:\users\YourID\Documents\SAP
             X:\users\YourID\AppData\Local\SAP
             X:\users\YourID\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common
Re-install using the latest patch available
Even after doing this the issue still persists.
Over here one thing is clear that it is not regarding authorization and all because the copy user works fine. For the system,  administrator credentials are working well but only the person's user ID faces this issue.
Someone please help me out in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shiva,
Which GUI Version you are using...Please use latest 7.3 Version to avoid any issues related to GUI logon....
    Can you clarify these doubts...
    1. Are you able to use remaining Tcodes except SE38 and SE80..?
    2. Are you getting  any error before close the session?
    3. If particular user id is facing this issue, then use that credentials and try to check from your end whether you are able to open that tcodes or not..
    Regards

  • Questionnaire for users of SAP GUI (closed)

When using SAP GUI *) for a while, users tend to open new session windows and maybe new connections to other SAP system instances as well. With the increasing number of windows, it can be difficult to find and switch to the session you want to proceed working with.
SAP is currently looking into ways to improve the session handling in the SAP GUI. Options including a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_document_interface">multiple document interface (MDI)</a> or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabbed_document_interface">tabbed document interface (TDI)</a> approach are being discussed. The latter has been adopted by many web browsers for similar reasons.
In order to ease the process of finding an appropriate interaction model, it would be helpful to have a good understanding of how people are working with the SAP GUI today.
For this purpose we would like to ask you to provide feedback on the questions below. You can either directly reply in this thread or send a mail to woersi (at) sap (dot) com with the subject starting with "Questionnaire".
Note: The new approach will be an additional option and will not replace the current implementation.
<b>1. What is your role using the SAP GUI?</b>
    a) admin/technical/developer
    b) business user
    c) consultant
    d) other
<b>2. Do you think the multiple document interface or tabbed document interface could make handling of multiple windows in SAP GUI more convenient?</b>
    a) yes
    b) no (better to leave it up to the window management of the platform SAP GUI is running on like entries in the Windows taskbar)
<b>3. In how many different SAP systems are you (or the users in your company) typically working in parallel?</b>
    a) one
    b) two
    c) more
<b>4. How many sessions in total do you (or the users in your company) have open in parallel?</b>
    a) one or two
    b) three to six
    c) more
<b>5. What do you think is the preferred window arrangement for end users?</b>
    a) each SAP session in a separate window
    b) all SAP sessions (of all connections) in one single window
<b>6. How would you like to use the SAP Easy Access menu?</b>
    a) show it only at the beginning like it is today
    b) display it on request (like after clicking on some area) when you want to launch a new transaction
    c) you are not really using it
<b>7. Which SAP GUI(s) you are using in your company?</b>
    a) SAP GUI for Windows
    b) SAP GUI for Java
    c) SAP GUI for Html
<b>8. Please add any comments you may have regarding the questions above.</b>
Please send your feedback by <b>July 27th</b> at the latest.
    Looking forward to your input.

SAP GUI for Java project lead
*) Please consider the term “SAP GUI” representing both SAP GUI for Windows and SAP GUI for Java

    1. a)
    2. a) yes
    3. one or two (but almost always, with multiple windows (e.g. 6) in
    each system.
    4. Usually, three to six - but ten isn't unusual.
    5. a) each SAP session in a separate window (because it makes
comparisons between sessions easier - also it helps with cutting and
    pasting between sessions).
    6. b) display it on request (like after clicking on some area) when
you want to launch a new transaction
    7. a) SAP GUI for Windows and b) SAP GUI for Java
    8. On the Mac implementation of the JavaGui, the Windows menu
currently identifies sessions by a System name and a session number
(for example, "Dev(3)"). I'd really like more information to identify
the session, perhaps adding the transaction code (for example,
    "Dev(3)SE38").

  • SAP GUI 7.2 Crashing after server selection

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with one of our users. It has been working fine before. Windows 7 32bit. Whenever she selects a server to log in to it just closes out SAPGUI. Any idea on why this is doing that? I would rather not reinstall the OS on the machine.

    Hello Jun,
You may be lucky if it installs.  By the time Windows 7 came out SAP had de-supported SAP GUI 7.20.  The SAPSetup.exe release may not be able to recognize any recently updated Microsoft OS DLLs necessary for installation.
However, I would recommend you check the services file to ensure the necessary ports are correct and that either your local firewall or network firewall isn't blocking any of these ports.  This should clear up the error: "Cannot connect to message server".
I can also see there is a permission issue with open, write read with %sfile.  Can you ensure this has administrator permission's or permitted to do these activities.
    Cheers,

       Commandline:

    This operation gets done with:

       Commandline:        '"C:\peacy.sys\source\SAPGUI730PL8\source\setup\NwSapSetup.exe"  /noDLG /norestart /Package=PEACY'
Now the Installation gets done with:
    12:52:12 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 0
Every first installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 is affected. This is a cross-platform issue (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). If there was our older package version (SAP GUI 7.30 PL4) installed, the installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 gets done without problems.
Every new client with the SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 assigned or the re-installation of it, and every first installation of the package on a client without SAP GUI leads to the mentioned issue - package gets installed with the mentioned error, afterwards the uninstallation gets started by our environment and finally the installation gets done with the second try. This is not a practicable method for our support staff.
Are there any hints how to resolve this issue. (A upgrade to the newest patch level of SAP GUI is not a practicable solution)
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards
    Christian

    Hello Christian,
For older releases of the SAP GUI client a good approach is to create package for uninstalling old SAP GUI.  Depending on the state of the old SAP GUI's you're upgrading those may not be "clean" enough to warrant upgrading in place.
The older GUI's have component's no longer provided with the newer releases so most recommendations are to uninstall completely an do a fresh installation.
I credit Matt Fraser for this information and suggest reading his documentation.  The last 4 articles are germane to you're situation.  I hope this helps you.

  • SAP GUI issue on Windows 7

    Hi,
After installing SAP GUI 7.10 on windows 7, SAP is getting closed after ~10 minutes
Please let me know how to fix it.
    Vinay

    hi All,
I did some testing on this and found SAP GUI has nothing to do with this, its the Firewall which is causing the timeouts. I disabled the installed McAfee firewall on my system  and tested and it worked fine.
disabling or adding an exception in firewall rules should resolve this.

    Hello,

Well, I'd propose to leave the SAPGUI screen untouched but only place a comment on the logon screen (see [note 205487|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/205487]) which informs the user on a URL to a web application (BSP) which provides the desired "forgotten password" self-service functionality.
In the internet you find many examples of such "forgotten password" self-services - good ones and not so good ones. What all of them have in common is the requirement that the user has provided a valid email address or mobile number (during the account registration) which can be used for the required off-band communication. However they differentiate in the way they try to mitigate misuse: some prompt for a so-called passphrase (in most cases: the user has entered a free-text answer to a question chosen from a fixed set of predefined questions, during accoutn registration) before sending a newly created password to the email address retrieved from the user account; others generate a (random) "password change token" which they send to the email address and prompt the user to enter this "password change token" on the webpage (the account remains untouched until the correct "password change token" was entered, in most cases this is also time-restricted). I prefer the latter one.

  • Problem with starting Crystal Report document from SAP Gui

    Dear all,
in Crystal Reports I created my first report (based on a BW query), which is executed successfully, when I run it directly from CR or from Infoview. The report is stored directly in BW and has been published successfulyl to BOE.
If I try to run it native from the SAP Gui, the following steps happen:
Internet Explorer is started with the following link:
    http://dtcmbbwp01.ctc.ch.rcc:1080/sap/bw/ce_url?(ce_protcl):(DS)(ce_server)/(ce_path_pr)/viewreport.csp(Q)bw_id=4I4B2HQG8KK2ICFPONVIG5D9Q&sap_sysid=(sysid)&sap_client=010&language=EN&sap-client=010
this link is transcoded to the following:
    http://dtcmbbwp01.ctc.ch.rcc:1080/sap/bw/=ce_protcl)%3a//MONHAMBO020.world.mon:8080%2fSAP%2fviewreport.csp(Q&sap_sysid=BWP&sap_client=010&language=EN&sap-client=010&sap-language=EN&cmsname=MONHAMBO020.world.mon
(I already entered /CRYSTAL/CL_BW_HTTP_HANDLER handler in the ce_url service)
and afterwards I get an error 404 -> corresponding service not available
which is obvious, as a service =ce_protcl is not existing at alkl.
If I then execute my CR document again from SAPGui (without closing the IE), the standard BOE login page for the infoview is displayed, but I get an error:
Account information not recognized: The credentials passed to secSAPR3 [] are invalid. Use the following format: sid~clnt/user
I can logon with my BW credentials, and afterwards I can see my CR document.
    Any idea, what went wrong?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Dear Ingo,
the basic installation of all BOE components was done by the SAP installation service and I checked several times your blog(s) and the corresponding parts on the BOE server and in BW. From my point of view we did all necessary configuration steps on BOE and BW (/CRYSTAL/RPTADMIN) which are necessary to setup the BOE software and the connections.
I checked again the HTTP handler and it still says:  /CRYSTAL/CL_BW_HTTP_HANDLER
I stopped and restarted the service, but with no effect at all -> I do not think that I need a restart of the server, right?
My user is as well existing on the BOE server and I can logon to the BOE with my SAP credentials.
I guess as well that the key to the success is the HTTP handler. The first link I provided is the link that is shown in IE, before I logged on to the BW server and I think this is correct, as the transcodification is done after(!) I logged on to the BW server.
A part of the transcodification is as well working, as I can see the replacement of my ce_server, sysid, etc. But it seems to me that the first part of the string is crap:
    http://dtcmbbwp01.ctc.ch.rcc:1080/sap/bw/=ce_protcl)%3a
    Any further ideas?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Andreas

  • SAP GUI and Win 7 error when attaching a document

I searched Google multiple times for an answer but didn't find one, so I'd like to bring it up in this forum.
I start by saying that mine is a large corporation with centralized application, Windows and security configuration, so I have very little manuvering as far as changing settings.
The problem we run into is as follows:
some users who use a particular (Quality Assurance) module of SAP need to regularly attach documents (typically PDF format) in SAP. The typical size of an attachment is between 3-7 MB.
Those documents are store on a network file share remote to the site. The network latency between the site and the file share location is approx. 6ms (not huge by any means). Users are running Win 7 Enterprise SP1.
Randomly, the attachment download fails in SAP and they have to exit and log back in to SAP to resume. The attachment may fail2-3 times, and then succeed or fail permanently.
Copying the file to a local drive (C:) and then attaching it in SAP always works.
The users report that this was not an issue when they were using WinXP SP3 a few months back.
Again, the problem is random in that it cannot be recreated at will but happens often enough to be more than just an inconvenience.
the Windows event log logs the following message when the attach process fails and SAP freezes:
The program saplogon.exe version 7300.1.2.1080 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
    Process ID: a7c
    Start Time: 01cf38c9a86d55ac
    Termination Time: 16
    Application Path: C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplogon.exe
    Report Id: 139b5ba9-a4bd-11e3-8b65-d8d3857a05c5
I'd appreciate any input that would help resolve this issue.
    Steve

Besides updating the patch level, the other thing you can try to get more information is turn on or increase the level of tracing within the SAPGUI.  You can do this on the workstation in SAP Logon by clicking the little button at the upper left of the window title bar, then in the drop-down choose Options.  In the new window that opens go to the Traces folder and have a look through the three different kinds of traces you can turn on.  Probably you should turn on SAP Logon Traces to the "Errors" level, and same for SAP GUI Traces (to Level 1: Errors), and under Session Traces pick the options that make sense to you (perhaps "Access Control", "Office Integration", and/or "Security"?  You might need to experiment with different options to get the right combination that doesn't overload the trace file with noise; you may not need a Session Trace at all if the error trace on the other two options reveal what's wrong).
You can see under Session Traces what folder the trace files will go to, and open the folder from there.  By default it will be C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SAP\SAP GUI\Traces.
    Best regards,
    Matt

  • Adding a new server in the menu of SAP GUI 640

    Hello Everybody,
While adding a new server to the menu of SAP GUI 640 using Server Tab after entering all details like :
    1] SAP System ID
2] Hostname where message server is running
    3] SAP ROUTER :None
After filling all the above details and after pressing the Generate List Button I am getting the following error .Please help me to know why this error is coming and suggest a solutio for adding a new server to my SAP GUI 640.But I am able to add a new server using User defined tab but I want to add a new server using Server tab.
Below is error details which I am getting:
    Error:service'sapmsSBX'unknown
    Wed Jan 09 06:41:13 2008
    Release 640
    Component NI(network interface),version 37
    rc=-3,module ninti.c,line 463
Detail NiPGetServByName: service 'sapmsSBX' not found.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ashish Thakkar.

    Hi,
check etc/services for sapmsSBX entry. If missing - add it (i.e. sapmsSBX      36XX/tcp - where XX is your instance no.)
Add an extra [Enter] after last line of etc/services.

  • In need of help going from Windows SAP GUI to Mac/Java SAP GUI 7.20

Hi Everyone, first post...I want to thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
I got everything working except for 1 out of 6 servers I need to connect to - of course this is the most important one.
It all comes down to the conversion of saplogon.ini to the new file format, instead of using the GUI to make a list I have created 6 individual .sapc files that I run directly. I found some converters but only had so much success with them, nothing solid and 100% full proof.
I'm going to post my windows config files and maybe you can tell me why logging into this system GP8 doesn't work from my mac?

Please tell me from all the info you have here what needs to take place for me to be able to connect to GP8. Can I do it from an sapc file? Do I have to configure other core files and go to my preferences and tell SAP to look at certain configs? I'm sure someone here can help me.
Thanks so much for your time

    Hello John,
please try the "SAP GUI for Java Configuration Generator Scripts" available at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25456#section9 .
For using the message server to connect to GP8, the information of the port number of the message server for GP8 is missing. For direct connection to GP8, it might work to use the connection string "conn=/H/gp8001.trans.de/S/3288" .
    Best regards
