You are writing that in the perspective of having read about it here already. Repeated often enough that you encountered it somewhere in the posts.
Users are flooding in here and don't know any of this. Of course we have to repeat everything endlessly.
Because I like to give precise, understandable and workable answers to repeated questions, and Apple doesn't allow sticky posts here, I created a separate forum which users can consult to look up real answers, and contribute for themselves if they have something valuable to add:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/
There is a section purely devoted to Pages 5. Add whatever answers you feel will lighten the problems of Apple's 'upgrades'.

    * Where have they acknowledged anything?
** They have barely anything listed, compared to the massive list of deleted features, and nothing but an extraordinarily long time frame considering they created the problems here and now. Apple has not said they will do anything at all about fixing the real issues, the biggest of which is that the new iWork apps break virtually all the work of existing users.

  • Mac keep automatically changing ALL CAPS to lower case in Pages.

MacBook Pro automaticaly changes all CAPS to lower case in Pages. It will automatically revert and I can't make the CAPS stay, regardless if I hold 'shift' and type or press the 'caps lock' key. Is there a setting where I can disable this feature?

You have not said where you are copying this from but it sounds like what you have is text that is styled by CSS on a web page or ATSUI (Apple's typographic type engine) to appear ALL CAPS.
The actual text is actually U&lc or lowercase.
    You can restyle it using:
Menu > Format > Font > Capitalization > All Caps

  • Upper/Lower case conversion

    Hi folks,
Apart from the Infoobject General tab where an infoobject can be selected to allow Lower case letters, are there any other areas where this can be done? We need to allow this for a standard infoobject and thinking is that we can change this at some other level such as do a conversion at the datasource level so only uppper cases flow through. This is a char field but can contain both Upper cases and Lower cases. Right now, with the standard infoobject the DTP load fails when trying to load the data with lower case characters.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
As mentioned above you will have to use TRANSLATE command to do the conversion. Now you can either write a routine at Infoobject level or write a field routine for conversion. In case of infoobject routine again you might have to change the original infoobject so I would suggest you to go for Field level routine in transformation.
    RESULT = source_fields-XYZ.
    TRANSLATE RESULT TO UPPER CASE.

  • Upper and lower case conversion

    Hi,
I need small help on conversions.
I need to convert the data in database tables to lower case.
Like i need to pick some data from a database table. The data stored in the database table is in uppercase. Here i need to convert the data to lowercase through the select statement. Is there any way to do this.
    Regards,
    Ram

    Hi ram,
    1. in r/3,
       working with upper/lower case,
with database tables, is very tricky.
    <b>(SIMPLY USING SQL WILL NOT
FETCH BOTH KIND OF DATA - UPPERCASE/lowercase/MIXED)</b>
    2. For your requirement,
    3.
      a) just get ALL data from vendor master
         (without any filteration of name)
          in ITAB
      b) LOOP AT ITAB.
         IF ITAB-VENDORNAME CS 'GOOD'.
         ELSE.
         DELETE ITAB.
         ENDLOOP.
    4. After the step (b),
<b> itab will contain only GOOD vendors.
      (irrespective of capital / lowercase) / mixedCASE</b>
    regards,
    amit m.

  • How so I make automatically created subdirectories lower case?

I was able to successfully make my .html pages lower case, however, I have a gallery page where I drag in photo albums.  For my gallery page, iWeb creates a subdirectory called "Pages" that's shown in my browser address window when looking at an album.  I can't figure out how to make "Pages" lower case.
FYI:  I publish to a folder and ftp my site to my host outside of iWeb.  I can physically rename the "Pages" folder to a lower case name, but iWeb seems to create pointers somewhere that specifically look for "Pages" and not "pages."  My host is linux based, and therefore case sensitive.  Any thoughts on how to make "Pages" lower case?

I don't understand why you want to do this.
File names on the server are case sensitive but they don't have to be lower case.
If you have an image file named "My-Photo.jpg" the url is...
    http"//www.domain-name/folder-name/My-Photo.jpg
    and it will work.
If you put the URL like this...
    http"//www.domain-name/folder-name/my-photo.jpg
    ... it won't.

  • Conversation lower case to upper case by default not wanted

    Hi,
Oracle converts lower case table names and columns names to upper case by default. To keep lower case letters names must be quoted. This "work around" is not acceptable.
Is there a way to change this behavior either for the database or for a session?
    Thanks

Easy answer. We are migrating from sybase ASE to
oracle. Sybase supports mixed lower/upper case by
default.Which is a proprietary behavior. After all these years of accusing Oracle of not conforming to standards, when they do (or come close) it bites them. <g>
Users are familiar with reading column names like
    "RxCellsHec0Clp0" instead of "RXCELLSHEC0CLP0".
Yes, there are users working directly with sql.If the users are used to putting the column name in double-quotes, then creating the table with identifiers in double-quotes will conform to the expected behaviour. That simply means that each and every reference to the table requires double-quote around the identifiers.
And it is quite impossible to get them changing all their queries
    from select RxCellsHec0Clp0 from ...
to select "RxCellsHec0Clp0" from ...One alternative is to wrap every table (of concern) with a view. My thought would be to leave the table with upper case identifiers, have the view with mixed-case identifiers, and use private synonyms to redirect the user to the view.
    The assumptions are
    1) user-oriented security is in place
    2) users use the quoted-identifier syntax

  • Batch Master Creation with lower case letters

    Conversion Routine
Conversion takes place when converting the contents of a screen field from display format to SAP-internal format and vice versa and when outputting with the ABAP statement WRITE, depending on the data type of the field.
If standard conversion is not suitable, it can be overridden by specifying a conversion routine in the underlying domain.
A conversion routine is identified by its five-place name and is stored as a group of two function modules. The function modules have a fixed naming convention. The following function modules are assigned to conversion routine xxxxx:
    CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_INPUT
    CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_OUTPUT
The INPUT module performs the conversion from display format to internal format. The OUTPUT module performs the conversion from internal format to display format.
If a screen field refers to a domain with a conversion routine, this conversion routine is executed automatically each time an entry is made in this screen field or when values are displayed with this screen field.
I have to correct myself . if the entry in small letters is allowed or not is already defined in the domain of the field.
You can see this in  SE11.
set radio button to Domain and enter CHARG in the domain field and click display.
in the definition tab you can see a box for Lower Case, which means that lower case entries are only allowed if this box is activated. (btw: the field for the conversion routine can be seen  above)

  • Lower case letters checkbox

Could anybody explain me the use of Lower case letters checkbox under general tab in the info object

    Hi,
    from help
Lowercase Letters Allowed / Not Allowed
If this indicator is set, the system differentiates between lowercase letters and capital letters when you use a screen template to input values. If this indicator is not set, the system converts all the letters into capital letters when you use a screen template to input values. During the load process or in the transformation, no conversion occurs.
This means that values with lowercase letters cannot be updated to an InfoObject that does not allow lowercase letters
If you choose to allow the use of lowercase letters, you must be aware of what happens when you input variables:
If you want to use the characteristic in variables, the system is only able to find the values for the characteristic if the lowercase letters and the capital letters are typed in accurately on the input screen for variables. If, on the other hand, you do not allow the use of lowercase letters, any characters that you type in the variable screen, are converted automatically into capital letters.
    Thanks

  • Dynamic Search - Upper/lower case of Search Criteria

    Hi,
If I enter a search criterion in lower case in the text box field of my dynamic search, the string gets automatically converted to upper case when I press 'Search'. Is there any way to retain the case of the search parameter value?

    Hi,
the data types for the input fields of the search mask are of type STRING. There is no conversion done there.
If the case changes it has to be done in the applicatgion logic of the view controller, most probably the EH_ONSEARCH().
Another hot option is the data element that is used for the parameter. Does it allow lower case values?
    cheers Carsten

  • How can you create a paragraph style that removes all spaces and forces everything to lower case?

    Hi,
Is there anyway of using GREP (or some other magical wizardry) to create a paragraph style that automatically removes all spaces and forces words into lower case?
Strange request i know....I'm wanting to use it for datamerged email addresses.
    Thanks

so doing it through InDesign is a work around I'm exploring.
Excel has the 'LOWER' function and the ability to record macros for a quick find/replace on the spaces - so that's definitely a good option if it can't be solved purely in InDesign.
You can change case via scripting in InDesign. This AppleScript (OSX only) will set the case of the selected paragraph style to lower. It would be possible to add some code that would strip spaces as well:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS6"
        activate
set StyleList to name of every paragraph style of active document
        set myDialog to make dialog with properties {name:"Document Paragraph Styles"}
        tell myDialog
            tell (make dialog column)
                tell (make border panel)
                    tell (make dialog column)
                        make static text with properties {static label:"Choose a Style", min width:150}
                    end tell
                    tell (make dialog column)
                        set myPresetsDropdown to make dropdown with properties {string list:StyleList, selected index:0, min width:150}
                    end tell
                end tell
            end tell
        end tell
        set myResult to show myDialog
        if myResult = true then
--+1 gets the correct name because list starts at 0
set myStyle to item ((selected index of myPresetsDropdown) + 1) of StyleList
        else
            return
        end if
        destroy myDialog
        tell active document
set myStyle to paragraph style myStyle
repeat with j from 1 to (count stories)
repeat with i from 1 to (count paragraphs in story j)
if applied paragraph style of paragraph i of story j is myStyle then
--defines a variable to replace the generic this_text parameter in the handler
set SCText to the contents of paragraph i of story j
set contents of paragraph i of story j to my change_case_of(SCText)
                    end if
                end repeat
            end repeat
        end tell
    end tell
    on change_case_of(this_text)
        set the_comparison_string to "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"
        set the_source_string to "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"
        set the_new_text to ""
        repeat with thisChar in this_text
set x to the offset of thisChar in the_comparison_string
if x is not 0 then
                set the_new_text to (the_new_text & character x of the_source_string) as string
            else
set the_new_text to (the_new_text & thisChar) as string
            end if
        end repeat
        return the_new_text
    end change_case_of

  • Interactive Report Download - filenames always in lower case

I've written an interactive report in Apex v4.0.2 and have set the CSV download option to use a filename of "One_Two_Three" (note the capitalization).
However when the CSV file is generated, the filename is "one_two_three" - all in lower case. I've tried using substitution variables in the filename and this doesn't make any difference.
Is there a way to stop conversion to lowercase ? Is it possible to intercept or override something to allow even greater control the filename ?
    thanks
    Andy

Well, found some answers after some more trial and error.
1.) Country settings messed up my csv format. After changing the default column separator in the report attributes, things now look as expected.
2.) One can rather easily suppress the format signs by using the sql replace functionality, e.g.
    SELECT REPLACE (my_column, CHR(10),' ') FROM my_table
And it is actually quite a difference if you use text area or rich text fields when it comes to the usage of the breaks.
    Cheers,
    Martin
