Automatic translation into foreign currency

Hello
I'm trying to add a warning message to accounting view in creating material (MM01).
The reason is the exchange rate. If i change the moving price and do not click on the "translate from local currency" button, it let me save the material with the wrong exchange rate.
In trasaction MR21 it gives me the warning message: "No automatic translation into foreign currency occurred".
Is there a way to add this message to MM01??
Thanks

Hi Enrique,
The final step in CKMLCP enters future prices for all materials based on the actual prices of the period.
You could Use CKMPRPN the 'maintenance of future prices' with it's rule based approach to change the data before activating with CKME.
You could
1. delete the group currency future prices (CKMPRPN)
2. release the new standard prices in company code currency (CKME)
3. create future prices in group currency by adopting the (previous month's) V-price as future price (CKMPRPN)
4. release the new standard prices in group code currency (CKME)
I am not sure if you could  also distinguish the validity dates between both currencies with CKMPRPN. If yes, that might be better than deleting and rebuilding the price. You could change the date for one currency into the future, use CKME, change the date back and use CKME again.
A disadvantage of the procedure would be that you will not release the cost component split from CKMLCP. In step 4 only the new price will be released and the split will be created from the former split. In step 2 the original split from CKMLCP will be activated.
best regards,

  • Translation using foreign currency units per dollar

We are currently using the built-in HFM translation mechanism for most of our accounts, i.e., we enter currency rates in dollars per foreign currency unit for both a balance sheet rates and a P&L rate and allow HFM to translate. Is it possible to use the default translation to translate using inverted rates, i.e., foreign currency units per dollar? This would imply, of course, that the rate would be divided into the entity currency amount instead of multiplied.
I realize that we could do this via translation rules for all of those accounts, but I'd prefer to use the default mechanism, if possible.

    Sofia,
I don't recall the reason for having exhange rates use different options in the intercompany transaction module (ICT). I was part of the team which designed this module back in 2004/2005, and I suspect this was simply a request by someone at the time to allow exchange rates used in matching intercompany transaction matching to be entered either as a divide or as a multiply. This feature applies only to IC transactions, and has no effect at all on the core functionality of HFM, which uses only a multiply approach. Once intercompanty transactions are matched within the ICT module, the remaining, umatched balances each period are posted to the relevent HFM accounts. In many ways this is like using line item details for intercompany balances, but better since HFM can match at the "line item" level.
    To be very clear:
    1) ICT: intercompany transaction module. This is a module within HFM that allows invoice/transaction level records to be loaded into HFM and matched based on a series of flexible criteria. This is covered in detail in Chapter 13 of the HFM Administrator Guide.
    2) ICP: intercompany partner. This is a dimension within HFM that leverages the Entity dimension, where period end balances for/from each entity's partner is loaded into HFM. Intercompany eliminations are performed according to either HFM's default rules, if you use Consolidation Rules = "N" or "R", or according to your own rules if Consolidation Rules = "Y" and you have provided your own Sub Consolidate routine.
The ICT module, though feature rich, is not widely used. On the other hand the ICP dimension is used in a majority of HFM applications worldwide.
I hope this helps clarify the questions.

    Foreign Currency Valuation
In order to create your financial statements, you have to carry out a foreign currency valuation. This valuation covers the following accounts and items:
Foreign currency balance sheet accounts, that is, the G/L accounts that you run in foreign currency.
The balances of the G/L accounts in foreign currency are valuated.
Open items posted in foreign currency.
The line items in foreign currency are valuated.
You have the following options for the foreign currency valuation:
You can carry out the valuation in local currency, (company code currency), or a parallel currency (for example, group currency).
You can also use different valuation methods (for example, lowest value principle).
In addition to the foreign currency valuation, you can also carry out a currency translation in accordance with FASB 52 (US GAAP). You can thereby translate your account balances from local currency into group currency, for example.
    Prerequisites
To carry out a foreign currency valuation, you must first make certain settings in Customizing. You make the settings in Customizing under Financial Accounting -> General Ledger Accounting/Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable -> Business Transactions -> Closing -> Valuating -> Foreign Currency Valuation.
You must define the exchange rates. See  Exchange Rates
You must also define a valuation method. Choose Define valuation methods.
You must also define the expense and revenue accounts for exchange rate differences from valuations. For payables and receivables accounts you must also define the financial statements adjustment accounts. To do this, choose Automatic postings for foreign currency valuations.
If you want to carry out a parallel valuation, you must also have defined a valuation area. Choose Define valuation areas.
The exchange rate differences from the parallel valuation are posted in this valuation area. If you carry out a parallel valuation with a different valuation method to the first valuation, you do not have to reverse the postings from the first valuation. This information is then available for subsequent closing operations, for example, Transferring and Sorting Receivables and Payables
    Features
You can use report SAPF100 for the foreign currency valuation. This report carries out the following functions:
Valuation of foreign currency balance sheet accounts
Valuation of open items in foreign currencies
Saving the exchange rate differences determined from the valuation per document
Carrying out the adjustment postings required
The following topics describe how to carry out foreign currency valuation using the reports, and how to post valuation differences. You can also make this posting manually. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Accounting -> Financial accounting -> General ledger -> Document entry -> Valuate foreign currency.
    Activities
To carry out a foreign currency valuation, from the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Accounting -> Financial accounting -> General ledger/Accounts receivable/Accounts payable -> Periodic processing -> Closing -> Valuate -> Foreign currency valuation.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Foreign currency conversion is wrong in line item report

    Hi All,
I have a system which went live recently as of 1st of Sept. 2011. Hence my cut off is 31st Aug.2011.
Now, i have uploaded customer open line items in foreign currency. Hence, at cutover my exchange rate was as per month of Aug. Now when I want to post an incoming payment through f-28 I see a different amount in my local currency i.e INR. The difference is exactly the difference due to change of exchange rate. However, my question is once when a document is posted then why does the system shows the amount in INR as per the next month's i.e sept's exchange rate?
Can anybody help me on this please?
    Thanks
    Priyanka.

    Priyanka,
The system is behaving exactly according to accounting principles.  For foreign currency transactions, the exchange rate for translation into local currency should be at the rate on which the business transaction occurs.  Now, you have converted your open items from the old system into your new system as of Aug. 31.  The customer has made the payment (in foreign currency) today.  So it is appropriate from an accounting standpoint to take today's rate to convert the foreign curr amnt into INR.  The resulting difference is your realized exchange rate difference.  You need to book that difference to an exch. rate gain/loss account (that you need to configure in OB09).

  • F-32 - clearing customer items in foreign currency

    Hello gurus,
please, where in SPRO can I set the possibity of clearing customer items in foreign currency in F-32 ?
Presently all items are converted to local currency and it's not possible to switch into foreign currency.
Vendor open items we can clear in foreign currency in F-44, but customer open items not.
    Thank you,
    Ondrej

What error you are getting in F-32 while clearing the customer in foreign currency?
Please check whether in FS00 for that customer reconciliation account, you have selected the check box "Balance in local currency". If yes, then that will not allow you to clear in foreign currency.

  • Accounting document created after foreign currency valuation

    Hi SAP Gurus,
    Please help on below queries:
    1. Is it correct that Accounting document is automatically created when foreign currency valuation (F.05) was run and  'Reverse Posting' was ticked? Does it mean that two document will be created; one is for Revaluation Journal and the other one is for Accounting Document?
    2. In relation on above question, is it correct that Accounting document and Revaluation Journal have the same posting date and amount?
    3. When Accounting document and Revaluation Journal have the same posting date and amount does it mean that the account has not been revaluated?
    Appreciate your advise. Thank you.

There will be two accounting documents generated, one for posting the revalution and the other for the reversal (if reversal is activated). The reversal dates can be given manually else system takes the 1st of the N+1 Period. The revaluation posting date will be taken from the date given in 'valuation date'.
    Warm Regards

    Dear Jhaanu,
Please fallow below Details and see step by step. it should help full for you..
    Purpose
This wiki provides a demonstration of valuation of Open Items In Foreign Currencies
    Overview
From the help.sap.com documentation the following is stated
Valuation of Open Items in Foreign Currencies.
    Use
All open items in foreign currency are valuated as part of the foreign currency valuation:
The individual open items of an account in foreign currency form the basis of the valuation, that is, every open item of an account in foreign currency is valuated individually.
Example of open items are customers, Vendors, or GL accounts managed on open item basis (SKB1-XOPVW = X)
The total difference from all the open items in an account is posted to a financial statement adjustment account. The account therefore retains its original balance.
The exchange rate profit or loss from the valuation is posted to a separate expense or revenue account for exchange rate differences as an offsetting posting.
A valuation cannot be made by posting to the payables/receivalbes account, since reconcilation accounts cannot be directly posted to.
For this reason the amount is posted to an adjustment account, which appears in the same line of the balance sheet as the reconcilation account
    Step 1 - General customizing

  • ECC 6-  Table that gets updated when Currency Translation to Group Currency

    Hi All,
I would like to know which table gets updated with the Values when we execute tcode "FAGL_FC_TRANS"?
I would like to see the values that system posted during April 09, May09 etc for each GL that was Translated into Group Currency using the tcode.
under SE16, i tried checking for all tables with FAGL*, but could not figure out the exact table.
    Thanks
    Vijay

BKPF gets updated - The T Code you will in those entries in BKPF is FBB1, Business Trans. will be RFBU and Ref. Transaction will be BKPF.
BSEG gets updated - Activity Type RFBU.  You will not see any non-zero amounts in transaction currency and local currency.  In group currency, you will see a non-zero number.
FAGLFLEXA gets updated - Transaction RFBU, Ref. Transaction BKPF - No amounts in TC and LC.  Amount in GC.
FAGLFLEXT gets updated - Transaction RFBU, Ref. Transaction BKPF.  Again, nothing in TSLxx and HSLxx.  Amounts in KSLxx (xx being the period in which you have posted translation).

  • Customisation for foreign currency revaluation

I have to post the revaluation for GL accounts like VAT gl accounts to a GL account XXX. I have maintained the GL accounts for which reval needs to be calculated in the variant of the  job FAGL_FC_VALUATION . after this, where this account XXXX should be maintained ?

    Hi Rudra,
It is not for all GL's that system will carry out revaluation. Only when you define the GL's in customizing in SPRO will you get the revaluation done in FAGL_FC_VALUATION.
    For this Go to
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide  Financial Accounting(New)  General Ledger Accounting(New)  Periodic Processing  Foreign Currency valuation  Prepare Automatic Postings for Foreign Currency Valuation
On the Maintain FI Configuration: Automatic Postings-Procedures, choose Transaction KDF and make the entries:-
You need to maintain One Gain/Loss account which is a P/L account and that gets posted when you make payments during the month and it is realized gain/loss. But if you want to post it at month end for open items then you need to enter in val Loss 1/Val Gain 1 and this GL gets posted when you run this transaction FAGL_FC_VALUATION.
Bal Sheet Adjust.1 is the account to which AR/AP adjustment is posted to.
    Hope this helps..

  • Foreign currency run

    Hi All,
We have a situation where in we would like to valuate all documents on an account irrespective of document currency.
We have 3 currencies maintained in the system -- doc currency, company code currency and global currency.
Company code currency is CAD and global currency is USD.
The line items on the GL account receives postings both in CAD and USD as the document currency.
Say, the account has just 2 postings as given below:
Posting 1: 100 CAD (doc curr), 100 CAD (comp curr) and 95 USD (global curr)
Posting 2: 200 USD (doc curr), 210 CAD (comp curr) and 200 USD (global curr)
We want the F.05 run to valuate 310 CAD (total of comp curr) and 295 USD (total of global curr)
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hello Venkat,
It is possible to do foreign currency valution as you expected if you are using ECC 5 or 6.
The year-end closing operations can be implemented for different legislative accounting standards, such as US GAAP or the German Commercial Code, which are based on different valuation approaches.
The different valuation approach is calculated and posted in the following programs:
    Foreign currency valuation (SAPF100, RFSBEW00)
The programs can be run using an alternative valuation area. When the valuation of open items is made which affects the balance sheet, the differences are stored in a table (BSBW).
The additional valuation area must be created in Customizing for Financial Accounting. To do so, select the activity Define valuation areas in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for General Ledger Accounting.
You must then define the account determination for the alternative valuation areas in Customizing. To do so, define the account numbers for the expense or income from the valuation in the system. You do this under the activity Prepare automatic postings for foreign currency valuation in the IMG for General Ledger Accounting.
    Hope this will help you.
    Regards
