Automatically run Reports 6i
I need to run a report every night at 23.00 hrs. Is there a way to setup reports that's going to be automatically run at different times of the day/night?

With the Reports Server you can schedule reports to run under a variety of conditions as well as event driving the submissions.

I'll assume you are talking about the Oracle Reports and Oracle9iAS Portal integration. Best bet would be to ask the Reports folks in the Oracle Reports forum.

Why wont the "Report Server" Start unless i wire my computer to an internet/DSL Device.
Please consider me.It needs the network connection. You can by pass this by installing a Network Loopback Adapter. If you are using MS-Windows - take a look at: How to install Microsoft Loopback Adapter or search Microsoft Support to get instructions for your version of Windows.

Auto run report with default parameters in Viewer
Hi,
Can any one tell me if it's possible to automatically run reports in Disco Viewer with default parameter values?
For example, I have a worksheet with a parameter like 'Term like :Term Code' which has a default value of '%'.
When I open the sheet in Viewer I'm presented with the Confirmation screen with default parameter values displayed and then click OK to run report. Is there a way to skip the confirmation screen and just run the sheet with default values as soon as it's opened?
I tried using the 'Run Query Automatically' option in Query Governor preference but this results in Viewer opening the Edit Parameters screen instead of the confirmation screen.
What I'd ideally like to do is bypass both the Confirmation and Edit Parameters screen to automatically run the worksheet with default parameters as soon as it's selected.
Any thoughts appreciated,

Option 1
If the user is clicking on a URL for the report you could code the parameters directly into the URL thus, they are passed on startup. Section 13.5.2 Example 2 of the below URL provides an example:

Option 2 (Not Exactly what your looking for)
This would still require a user to click something but, if your passing a wildcard it should probably be considered,
If the parameter might be a wild card your better off making it an Optional Parameter which is now possible in Discoverer Plus 10.1.2. Thus, instead of passing an expensive % sign the condition will simply be ignored.

Any way to automatically run discoverer reports based on an event ?
I am using discoverer 3.1.36. I am trying to automate the
running of discoverer reports - the objective is to
automatically run a set of discoverer reports after a particular
event.
This is part of a very critical solution for a large bank.
One of the solution that i am trying is to schedule the set of
reports for a future date and then after the event has occurred,
use a trigger to update the scheduled times of these reports.
But by just updating the 'next run time' field in the
eul_batch_reports table, there is no effect. The reports still
run at the initially scheduled time.
Can any one help me with this? or suggest any alternate
solutions.

Hi,
I have had a question from a customer if it is possible to schedule a BW report in a way that it is automatically run after the refresh of the cube and then saved in a specific network drive.
I don't think it is possible, but wanted to check.

AllanBy default it's stored on the BW server and you got to use the download scheduler (check in Start -> Programs -> Business Explorer) to get the files
I don't know if there is any other way to get them. If someone knows, I'm also interested

I have requirement to kill long running reports . I am using OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.0 which has a bug where it is not taking query limits governor and the reports are not getting killed if i am setting that parameter in RPD.
Oracle support has advised me to upgrade to next version, but for now, i cannot upgrade.
Can anyone suggest me script to run on obiee app server that can kill long running reports on obiee and database server.

We are launching Oracle 9i Reports from a Portal 9ias (release 9.0.2.2) system. We are in production with about 100 users. It is not going well with respect to Report problems.
We have the following problems:
1) hanging reports,
2) reports where parameter screens will not present due to large LOV on parameter screen,
3) and the most aggravating problem is "Page can not be found" presented to user when in fact the report ran successfully and create a .pdf.
We are at our wits end with Oracle Support and the Oracle Portal and Reports product.
As I said, I am launching Oracle Reports 9i from a Portal 9.0.2.2 application. I have several long running reports that complete successfully but return to the user an error "Page can not be found". Meta-link Note: 189454.1 suggests a modification to ReceiveTimeout parameter in the pc registry. We set the ReceiveTimeout parameter to 7200000. This did not solve the problem. Users still receive "Page can not be found".
Is there a report server side setting that we must set also ... or some other setting we should check?
I need to solve this issue. Is there someone out there that can help? Are there other people having similar Oracle Reports issues? According to Oracle Support we are the only people with these issues. Are we?1) If you can reproduce the Reports Hanging issue consistently you can push Oracle Support to file a bug.
2) I am not sure about this now, but again you can take this to Oracle Support and push for resolution.
3) There are some problems with IE - Adobe integration. This is not a Reports bug. You can try
(a) Switching off Adobe - web integration in Adobe Acrobat reader settings, so that Adobe will not automatically open pdf file in web. Instead a dialog will be shown as to which application to open the pdf file or save it to disk and user can save the file to disk and open.
(b) Use IE latest version. (or some other browser like Netscape )
[ You can roll back the ReceiveTimeout param change you made to see the impacts one at a time ]
1) To confirm that this is a Adobe - IE pdf problem run the same report to htmlcss, rtf. If these come fine, then we can ascertain that this is Adobe - IE issue.
2) Give http://host:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=server_name. You can see all the jobs and their jobids. For the concerned jobs you can click and see whether output is actually generated or not.

I am having problems in running report from form.
I am using oracle 9i on windows 2000 server and no 9iAS at the moment. On client side, i have windows xp and 9iDS installed. I want to run report from forms in 9iDS testing environment.
my forms are running ok but now i need to run report. so what i have done is that i have created a report object in form and following are enteries present in it at the moment.

i have installed report server with following command
rwserver -install 9irep
i have changed entry in rwservlet.properties like
SINGLESIGNON=NO and i have removed the following entire block of 9irep.conf, which i have read from some documentation

i get the following error message when i run my form
frm-41214 Unable to run report
and then next message is
frm-41217 unable to get report job status
i debugged the report id and it is
9irep_0
returned by Report_Job_Id := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(Report_Id);
When I checked the Report Queue Manager
it is showing status like
(9irep)Terminated with error
and detail it shows is
Unable to connect to the specified database.
Now I am wondering what to do next.

From your description, it seems like the report is faling due to a database authentication problem. When you run your report from Forms, Forms internally passes the its database connection information to Reports automatically. So ensure that you are connected to a valid database in Forms, before the report is called.
Please verify whether a simple report which does not require a database connection, for example, a report containing only a boilerplate text object, is running correctly. Also, in the trigger code that you have specified, you should add the following:
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(Report_Id, REPORT_DESTYPE, CACHE);
so that the report output gets generated to the server cache, and can be retrieved using rwservlet/getjobid.

I want to run report from FORM
I want to run report from FORM. The report will save in PDF format then OPEN automatically in PDF
Every PDF file should have a unique file name.

We produce a number of reports each month (Reports 6i) and the details of the reports are stored on a database. What I want to be able to do is automatically run a job that interrogates the database to determine which reports need to be run and run the reports producing a file in the required format. We are using unix servers. I have successfully run a report using a uni script and using the rwrun60 command line prompt but when i have tried this method with a report that has a parameter form it doesn't want to play. All advice would be gratefully received.
Add 'batch=yes paramform=no' to the command line.
Of course this requires that all required parameters are given a value in some way, e.g. via a default value.
