Automatically shutting out

My students are creating an iweb site and placing videos on a my albums page. They have accidentally posted a motion file instead of a quicktime file. Now every time I try to delete the file, the page or view the file the program automatically shuts down. How can I fix this?

I deleted the whole site and started a new one.

  • Opening OEM for two Oracle 11gR2 Databases in the same web browser automatically log out.

    Hi to everyone,
I have an issue regarding Oracle Enterprise Manager in 11gR2. I have two database (SWPROD, PDPROD) in a single server. When I open the OEM URL for  SWPROD it is successfully logged on but when I open the OEM URL for PDPROD and successfully logged on the other tab for SWPROD will automatically logged out. And when I switch to the other tab for PDPROD it is also automatically logged out. Both OEM URL is open in a single web browser like Mozilla Firefox. What would be the reason why both OEM URL will be logged out when I open them at the same time?
Thank you for your incoming response.

Well it seems the only way to clear these out of EM was to shut BOTH RAC nodes down and power them up one at a time.  Now the updates aren't shown as required and my compliance score is where it should be.
Is this a bug ?  Seems pretty stupid to have to shut down both RAC nodes to fix this.  Powering a single RAC node off and back on did not clear this.
    Unless i'm missing something??

  • Compaq Presario CQ60, overheating and automatically shutting down.

    Hi.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 that is about a year old. These days I have been experiencing problems with my laptop. The problem is that the top hand corner gets hot, and then my laptop automatically shuts down itself. There is plenty of battery on my laptop, and it also happens, while my charger is plugged into it. This mainly happens when I am at school, where  I do not bring my notebook fan cooler. I can basically do nothing, because every 30 minutes it will automatically shut down itself. It even happens when I am in "Battery save" mode. This is starting to irrate me, because I have only had this laptop for about a year, and my warranty just expired so there isn't much I could do. I have read about this being a problem to a lot of people...
I am wondering if it has something to do with my battery, because it is really bad. It only lasts for about 30 minutes from 100% to 10%. I do not know what the problem is, because I have no expertise in laptops.
I hope  you can help me.

    HI;
The easiest thing to do is to spray canned air into the vents by the fan and heat sink. If a lot of dust comes out, that will probably take care of the issue. If no dust comes out, then you have other issues causing overheating and thermal shutdown. Take care not to overspin the fan blades when you blow the air into it.

  • MacBook Pro automatically shutting down

My Macbook Pro (2010) keeps automatically shutting down almost every time I put the screen down.  WHAT CAN I DO??

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Server Infrastructure Licensing - Automatic Shut down

I have tried the other threads but pretty much everything goes off in other directions :(
I joined my new employer a few months ago and inherited a windows 2012 essentials server. I have since discovered that the server is shutting itself down automatically due to errors in Server Infrastructure Licensing.

These 6 errors repeat over and over every few hours until server shuts down.
From trying to research this most posts reference server 2008, or old kb articles which are not related to 2012 or suggesting I have other domain controllers. I don't just this server which for all intents and purposes works correctly and as intended apart
    from the shutdown.
As i understand it essentials includes 25 licenses we currently only have 14 users. Actually whilst we are on that subject, I was looking at what we do when we hit 25, Im reading that we have to buy Server 2012 standard and do in place license change, and
then we have to buy cals. So does this mean we have to then buy 25cals to keep current users and then buy more on top? or does the upgrade from essentials include 25 licenses when you switch? MS's documentation is anything but clear.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I too have a server that shuts down monthly due to the Server Infrastructure Licensing check erroneously failing.

I've verified that this server holds the fsmo roles, and that DNS is properly configured. It's the only server in a three workstation environment. They have 800GB of free space. I basically have the identical problem as the poster. It's bothering me that when
a MS service fails, the servers reliability is put into jeopardy. MS we've paid you. Please fix this.

  • Does ios8 automatically shut down applications?

I'm running ios8.1.2 on an iPhone 4s. I use a couple of GPS-based recording applications to record my cycling training (one app is Strava, one is MotionX-GPS). I've had ongoing problems with the GPS-recording shutting down at various points during my rides and ceasing to record GPS data.... Strava is particularly bad and I've quit using it in favor of MotionX-GPS. MotionX, however, has shut down (or perhaps a better description is ceased to record... not sure) twice recently. I would sure like to find the cause of this.
Some information: my process generally when using these applications is to start my music on my phone (usually Google Play using downloaded-only music), then start the GPS-recorder, then sleep my phone and start riding. Normally, my next interaction with the phone is un-sleeping it to stop the GPS-recorder after the ride. Sadly, about half the time, now, when I un-sleep my phone the GPS application has shut down and didn't record some part of my ride. On one occasion, based on the point where the recording stop, I could associate the stoppage with the taking of a picture from the lock screen (MotionX-GPS, but that used to happen all the time with Strava), but that's the only event I have been able to associate with an app shutdown.
I have noticed that the recording of GPS data does not stop when I do not listen to music - I don't think the culprit is the music player, per se, but perhaps an unusually high memory consumption by the player at some point?
What I'm trying to find out via this question is: does iOS8 have some sort of mechanism for automatically shutting down applications when triggered by some certain event? e.g. memory reaches a certain level so shut down all other running apps? (In this case, though, it seems like such a trigger would shut down the music player, not the GPS-recorder, since the music player was backgrounded before starting the GPS-recorder, which should be the "primary" app even though the phone is asleep).
    Very confusing and frustrating.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Scott

No one here is familiar enough with the internals of iOS to comment on iOS contingency handling. This is a user forum.
More likely your scenario is triggering a bug in the GPS applications which is causing them to abort. A resource problem could also be causing problem ( a exhaustion of internal memory or a exhaustion of external storage for the App(s)). This might cause an abort for the App requesting the resource rather than the music. Of course, if the music isn't playing, there is more memory available.
However, this is all just speculation. You should try contacting the developers of these applications to see if they have any ideas or fixes for these problems. They may also have a user forum.

  • Safari Automatic Log out??

We have our iMac set to log out automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity, but lately it has been shutting down everything we have open including Safari and iPhoto which can be very annoying when you're working on a project or keeping tabs on an auction, etc. Question is, how can we get the computer to "time out" and require a password to log back in but still keep our programs open? Essentially, like "locking" a Windows computer... or is there a separate option to close programs automatically also that we might have accidentally activated?
    Thanks!

I do not know much about "locking" a PC, hvdel, but if you are still using Snow Leopard, in System Preferences, in the Security pane, under the General tab, there is a setting to automatically log out after X minutes of inactivity. Near the top of that pane, there is a check box that allows you to require a password after sleep or the screen saver begins.
If you log out, any open programs must close.  However, you can put the computer to sleep and that will not quit any programs.
So what you can do is uncheck the automatic log out option and instead use the Energy Saver options in System Preferences to put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes.  Then you can go to the General tab in the Security settings pane and check the box requiring a password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins.
Then the computer will go to sleep, but no one can wake it up without a password.  So, in effect, you are locking the computer without logging out.

My mobile phone is always automatically shut down at the time of the photo.

Plug the device into a wall outlet and leave it for about 20 minutes. If it has not powered on at that point try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

About every 1 1/2 hours, it automatically shuts down to cool off.  Is there any way to manually turn it on?  Or, do they have to be replaced?

I tried that with no improvement.  I think I might have to have the fans replaced.  do you know if this is a particularly difficult procedure?  Something wierd that I've noticed is that if I have a video on for more than several minutes, the fans comes on, and also when I am on a Skype video conference for awhile.  Otherwise, the fan jst doen't come on as the intels heaten up to the point the the auto shut down kicks in...any advise?  This definitely interupts my work!  Thanks for your help and input thus far!

When I start iTunes on my home computer (Not a MAC), it automatically shuts down, and gives me the message that the Data Execution Prevention security feature has shut it down...what to do?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
