Automatically turn filters on or off at a scheduled time

Hi there,
Is it possible for a Blackberry (I have a 9780)  to automatically turn email filters on or off at a scheduled time during night?
This is to allow alerting notification start without me having to manually do it.  (I'll be asleep )
(I want to turn on alerting at say, 5am but not wake up until say 7am)
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out how
to turn on and off the XRAID at a specific time. My
electrical bills are crazy. Is there a way to get
this done?
Thanks,
Jorge
I think turning the RAID on and off periodically is a bad idea. But if you really really really want to do this ....
Connect the xserve raid to a 'metered power strip such as those provide by APC. you can telnet to the power strip via the network to power off individual port)
write a script (run on the xserve or powermac that the RAID is connected to (direct or via switch)
0) quit application (issue a quit command or if the application have a stop command (example databse can be stopped)
1) unmount volume (must)
2) issue a telnet command via expect script to control the power strip to power off the array.
If you have java cli access to the array (see alienraid.org).(I have not tried this before.)
http://alienraid.org/article.php?story=xserveraidtools12&query=command
You can issue a command to execute the RAID admin shutdown command.
Put the master script into a unix cron job.

  • Automate turn airport on or off to save battery

i read a method in a book [are you allowed to mention names of specific books?] to toggle airport on and off by inventing a shortcut for it. i think it was something like system preferences>keyboard and mouse>keyboard shortcuts>+. the book said type the command exactly as it appears in the menu bar, so in this case, Turn AirPort On, and then you designate the shortcut, i think by pressing the desired keys. this is where the problem arises, the only keys i can get to in the text box, are the cursor keys, so now i am left with right cursor arrow, as a shortcut for turn airport on. not the best shortcut, but ok as long as it works, which it doesn't. cant think of anything else so can anyone help? id be very grateful. also, does anyone know how much battery leaving airport on eats anyway? i guess you could design an experiment to test it but it would be kind of a long way around.

Are you talking about iPod touches or MacBooks? The touch is a pretty locked down system and unless someone wrote an app to shut off WiFi, then you are not going to be able to do through a script on a standard touch. Jailbroken, don't know and really don't care. However, it is easy enough to just turn it off with three taps.
If you are talking MacBook (or any Mac), you could conceivably write an Apple script to automate turn Airport off/on. However, you have posted in the wrong forum to get any help. Try on of the MacBook forums for some help.

  • Laserjet printer automatically turns on after shut off

Hello! After I turn off my printer, it automatically turns on again after a few minutes and I'm not sure why. Please help thanks.

Hi , I understand that after turning the printer off, it automatically turns on again. I will certainly do my best to help you. I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. I would update the printer's firmware if the issue persists. HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw Color Printer Firmware Update Utility. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Thank You.

  • After I update my Ipad to OS 5.1.1 it automatically turns itself on ana off, what is happening?

After I updated my iPad to 5.1.1, it is experiencing what of the most annoying problems: it automatically turns itself off and on when I am in the middle of something. Seomtimes it attempts tp restart itself though I am not touching any button. I just got this iPad brand 1st qurter of this year 2012. I have tried restoring it bu it seems that the problem cant be resolved? Is it because of the new OS version? My iPad was never dropped or nothing happened anything like that...please help..
    Thank you.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Why isn't my iphone 5 camera working? Whenever i try to take a picture the screen just shows up black. i have already tried turning it on and off about a million times, but the same thing happens.

    please help

    Hi julia_smile,
This article has some steps you can try for camera app issues:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Camera
    Camera isn't functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • Automaticly turning on/off bluetooth when receiving calls

    Hi!
Can you have your iPhone turn on bluetooth automaticly when your receiving phone calls, and turn it off again after the conversation? Leaving bluetooth on all the time would seriously drain the battery, I imagine...

You must manually turn your iPhone's Bluetooth on and off.  There is no way to set the iPhone to automatically turn it on and off.  I leave my iPhone 4s Bluetooth On all the time since I have a hands free car unit in my car.  It does drain the battery more, but in my case, not enough for me to turn it on and off.

  • My IPhone 5 won't allow me to turn on my bluetooth, when I try to turn it on it automatically goes back to the off position.

My IPhone 5 won't allow me to turn on my bluetooth, when I try to turn bluetooth to the on position, it automatically goes back to the off position.  I can't connect bluetooth with anything?

Restart your phone, hold the home and off button at the same time until the apple symbol comes up.

About every 1 1/2 hours, it automatically shuts down to cool off.  Is there any way to manually turn it on?  Or, do they have to be replaced?

I tried that with no improvement.  I think I might have to have the fans replaced.  do you know if this is a particularly difficult procedure?  Something wierd that I've noticed is that if I have a video on for more than several minutes, the fans comes on, and also when I am on a Skype video conference for awhile.  Otherwise, the fan jst doen't come on as the intels heaten up to the point the the auto shut down kicks in...any advise?  This definitely interupts my work!  Thanks for your help and input thus far!

  • Will an iPhone automatically turn off location services.  If it goes below a certain battery power level, and so how you disable this in settings.

I am working with Georgia DOT and we have created an app to track our state vehicles using IPhone 5. My question is: will an iPhone automatically turn off location services?  If it goes below a certain battery power level, and if so how do you disable this in settings.

I don't believe that this will happen, however, the entire iPhone will shut down when the iPhone reaches the auto-shutdown power level. There is no way to turn that Off other that connecting the iPhone to power.

I am no longer able to turn off cellular data usage for individual apps.
When I turn most of them off, they just automatically reset themselves to allow data usage.
    Any thoughts?

I am definately having the same problem and cannot believe there are no answers or even support that this problem exists.  I never have to post on forumns, I read what is usually readilly availiable for the craziest of problems.
Anyways, the problem is just that, I can toggle off a individual app's setting of cellular data availability, but it changes right back on rescreening.  After restarting, resetting etc, it seems that the big Apple Apps are the biggest offenders.  Music is a very important one, Podcasts can kill you very quickly, app store, Photos, Facetime, Stocks?!?!?!
When one searches for solutions I have to see hundreds of links to "How great is ios7, you can turn off cellular data for individual apps FOR DUMMIES!".  I am a dedicated apple fool since the Apple IIe (long time), but when they run afowl it is usually really bad.  Why offer an on/off switch if the setting is always on?
I am writing just to add support to the existence of this problem, not so much for people to offer ideas of solutions as I now believe it is in the coding.
    Thank you

  • Can iPod be set to automatically turn on and off at certain times?

At my work, I have been using my iPod to play overhead music through the PA system - using the radio feature mostly, but sometimes a playlist. However, I have to remember to turn it on and off everyday, which doesn't always work out too well. Is there a feature that can be set so that it will turn itself on automatcially each day and turn off automatically each day? Its the Nano, sixth generation. Any feedback is appreciated!

You can set a time in the clock but that wouldn't be much of an improvement because you would have to do it every day.

Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. You may need to connect the device to the charger before you attempt the reset.

  • 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black after a while. How can I solve this ?

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Soundbar/wifi automatically turning on and off

    Hi,
I have a HP dv7t-3000 notebook. This notebook has the 'touch sensitive' bar on top of the keyboard with entertainment controls like volume/mute/play-stop-forward etcc.. and the wifi 'touch sensitive button'
My problem is that these are being automatically turning on and off. My volume for example is automatically going up and down. My sound at this very moment is turn 'mute' on  and off like every second. My wifi is also turning on and off- the wifi 'touch sensitive button is turning red and blue repeatedly' (so on and off)
My question is, is there a way to DISABLE this whole 'touch bar'. I never turn my wifi off so I don't need that stupid button, and I'd rather control my volume in Windows than to have this stupid thing keep changing volumes up and down and muting on and off.
So I'd just like to keep wifi-on and then have this stupid bar be disabled! Who cares about these buttons if they're gonna behave like this.

If you updated to iOS 7 then I believe its something with iOS 7 because you are not the only one who has that problem, try to restore your iPhone and see if the problem is solved. If not , wait for iOS 7.1 it should be fixed on that new software.
Note:- don't forget to back up your phone before restoring or you will loose all your stuff.
-Let me know if this helped you, have a nice day :) ~iMond
