Automating MS Powerpoint slide presentation

Hi,
I have an assignment to automate MS Powerpoint slide presentation on the web. I have to allow user to navigate the Powerpoint slides on the web. How do I get things start?

Hi,
Is it that, you want the user to explain something and in the meantime the mouse should click the "next" button automatically and do some other events at some particular parts of u'r presentation.
If this is the case, u can use, java.awt.Robot class.
Please let me know it u have any doubts or I have got u'r question wrong.

  • In CS6 - how can I un-blur text within a photo taken at a seminar of a powerpoint slide presentation

Is there a way in CS6 to un-blur or "clean-up" text within a photo taken during a powerpoint slide show presentation at a seminar ?

You can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo.  It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation.  I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

  • Can you manually advance a Captivate slide presentation with a remote control and a projector.

I have published a large volument of PowerPoint presentations with Captivate 5.0 and intend to distribute the presentations to live instructors as a means to control content delivered live by instructors to the students.  The files are aggregrated into groups of lessons and published to PDF with a Table of Contents.
We need to avoid manually advancing the show from the laptop.
Having difficulty determining how to use remote control via laptop and projector to advance the next slide or presentation. Can't get it to work. Was able to do so previously with PowerPoint slides converted to PDF shows. Remotes/Laser pointers worked fine. But now that I have processed the shows through Captivate 5.0 can seem to find a remote that will work with the new PDF or SWF with our systems.
We use a laptop and projection system, so need to be able to advance the show to the next "slide" manually and are trying to figure out how to do it with a remote control.
Has anyone else experienced this challenge and did you find a solution?.

    Hi Carey,
if you can apply the letter "A" for "next" to your remote control?
Then you could add a shortcut to your buttons in the captivate file.
    In deapth:
Go to a PPT importet slide (using the "click mouse" option to continue".
Click somewhere in the screen (clickbox_xx will be selected).
Properties - Action - Shortcut. Click it and press "A".
    Click somewhere on the stage.
Now when you press your next button on the remote, Captivate will receive an "A" and continue to the next slide.
    Hope this helps

  • Why do circles rotated 45 degrees in PowerPoint slides not appearing in PDF -- a bug?

I am using Acrobat XI Professional and PowerPoint 2013 in Windows 8.
I have two PowerPoint slides. One slide is a filled-in circle. The other slide has another filled-in cirlce that is rotated 45 degrees. When I convert the PowerPoint presentation with the two slides to PDF using Acrobat > Create PDF, the circle that is rotated 45 degrees does not appear in the PDF document. This is true for all circles rotated by a factor of 45 degrees with the excpetion of circles that are factors of 90 degrees. LoriAUC pointed out to me that Save As > PDF works -- and it does.

It very well may be because when you do a Save As > PDF it works. I would submit this behavior to the Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Not all my PowerPoint slides import into Captivate 3

I am trying to import a 62-slide presentation in PowerPoint 2003 to Captivate 3, but only 10 slides will import. I am not sure what is causing the other 52 slides to not be recognized. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jennifer

    Jennifer,
Does it always stop on Slide 11?  The reason I am asking is that if this the case then look on that particular slide to see what is different from the rest.
Another suggestions, select all slides, then deselect slide 11 (assuming above applies) and try it, hopefully it will bring all 61 in then.  If not pick a bunch at a time and see where it fails - you are looking for a pattern of failures to pick the offending element.

  • Apple Remote to Advance PowerPoint Slides

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Apple Remote to advance PowerPoint Slides during a presentation?

There are a couple of apps here that might do the trick. Haven't used them myself: IRed Lite and Sofa Control

  • Inserting Video into Powerpoint Slide

I need to place digital video into a powerpoint slide, what would be the quicktime settings, should it be interlaced or progressive?

In addition to those things already suggested I would add the following:
If the presentation is being run from a windows platform (likely if you are preparing for powerpoint), they usually handle mpeg or wmv files better than quicktime.
When making the mpeg or wmv, don't set the resolution or bit rates too high. There are usually fairly high overheads of memory and processor usage in running a video within the presentation and if the resolution or bit rate is too high the system won't keep up. This results in poor quality video, dropped frames etc. For the same reason it is a good idea not to resize the video in the presentation. Audiences usually accept slightly soft or blocky video better than stuttering ones.
Make sure the files are copied to the system's hard drive and not run from a CD. Laptop drives often have trouble keeping up with higher data rates and they are usually set to spin down when not in use for a while.
Test the result on the target system!!! If you can't access the target system find a slow one to test it on unless you know the performance of the one it will be run on.
Our company does live event work as well as post-production and we often see bad results, usually accompanied by comments like "it ran all right at home (on son/daughter's gaming machine), but it isn't working very well on my (5 year old) laptop".
In summing up, I would suggest being conservative rather than trying to impress with dazzling effects and huge high resolution pictures.

    > Timeline Document development using actionscript 2.0
I'm interested in this, too. (Thanks for bringing up the
    topic!) My
guess, however, is that you won't see a flood of feedback.
    The timeline
metaphor is deeply engrained in the Flash developer mindset.
    Building a
slide presentation-based movie (the relatively new "screens
    feature") just
doesn't feel like working in Flash. I don't think many people
    use
screens -- though maybe it's too early to tell. I could be
    completely off
base, of course, and I welcome friendly dissenters.
I think Macromedia was hoping to appeal to the Visual Studio
    crowd with
screens. I'm curious to see how Adobe continues the idea. In
    any case, at
present, there's a kind of ActionScript mini-framework that
    gets added to
screens-based SWFs. This framework is what allows screens to
    behave like
screens rather than timelines. It is important to realize,
    however, that
all SWFs are, in the end, SWFs. The screens metaphor is no
    more "real" than
the timeline metaphor is. Both are just user interfaces to
    translate our
human instructions into something the Flash Player can
    understand.
I don't much care for the fact that this framework adds 27KB
    to a SWF
before anything else is even added. Start a new Slideshow
    Presentation and
immediately test the SWF (Control > Test Movie). In the
    resulting Flash
Player window, select View > Bandwidth Profiler to see how
    much the SWF
weighs. Do the same with a normal Flash document and compare
    the two.
To answer your specific bullet points:
    - Stability
I have no opinion here, I'm afraid. I simply haven't
    produced enough
screens-based SWFs to make a fair assessment.
    - Range
Not sure what you mean, here. Are you asking if
    screens-based SWFs can
    be bigger, hold more content?
    - Limitations
The end result in either case is a SWF, and a SWF is what it
    is.
    - Preference
I prefer the timeline metaphor because I've been using it
    since Flash 3.
I use Flash for everything from applications to cartoons to
    video, so in my
    workflow, timelines makes more sense.
    - Experience
Very little experience with screens (because I don't care
    for them).
Plenty of experience with Flash in general.
    - Pros
I would imagine -- and I can only imagine -- that some
    people prefer the
"slides" format. To me, it feels like PowerPoint, which I
    don't much care
    for.
    - Cons
The aforementioned extra SWF weight. 27KB isn't a deal
    breaker, and
it's certainly less bulky than any of the v2 UI Components,
    but ehh. For
what that's worth, I think it's a con. My programming skills
    have matured
along with the phenomenal advances in ActionScript in recent
    years. I
crossed a milestone back in Flash MX, I think, where Flash's
    under-the-hood
mechanisms really started "clicking" with me. (To be sure,
    the learning
process never ever stops ... I'm *still* learning, and things
    are *still*
clicking for me, but I digress.) To me, the screens metaphor
    introduces a
new (in my opinion, unnecessary) layer of abstraction to a
    lean-but-powerful
environment I already know and love.
    - Accuracy
Not sure what you mean here.
    - Problems
I don't use screens often enough.
    - Errors
    Ditto.
    - Likes
This is reflected in my views on Pros and Cons.
    - Dislikes
    Ditto.
    - Load Balancing
Again, not sure what you mean.
    - Customization
    Good question!
    - Coding Development/Programming
None of the programming books I've read even touch screens.
    - Control
    Control of what?

When I copy and paste a powerpoint slide into Captivate the slide is blurry how do I fix that

Have you tried importing it with standard workflow instead of coyping and pasting.
Is the resolution of your powerpoint presentation and Captivate Project same, make sure it is same, else, it would rescale it to fit on the sldie, rescaling might detoriate the quality.

  • PowerPoint Slides into Captivate Responsive Project

I would like to bring a PowerPoint presentation into captivate using the responsive project functions. Basically, I would like to use my PowerPoint slides but be able to format them for mobile use as well. How should I go about this?

  • Unable to import MS PowerPoint slides Captivate 6 on Mac

I have an existing project which I imported two PowerPoint slides into without a problem. I then made changes to the slides in PowerPoint, and when I went to re-import to Captivate, I get this pop-up message:
This is on Mac OS X 10.8.3. I open the same project/PowerPoint presentation on Windows 7, and I am able to import without a problem. The only thing I can think that has changed on the Mac platform is a recent update to the Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac.
    Is this a known issue?
    Thanks.

Sorry to pop in, but was looking at the first screenshot: the chosen resolution is probably not the native resolution of your PPT, moreover you unchecked 'maintain aspect ratio'. Did you ever try to import the PPT at its native resolution, or at least when choosing another to keep the width/height ratio the same? Personally I would not recommend to create a project with another resolution. One of the features that is to me the most annoying in PPT (I avoid using it) is that you have to define the size in a print measuring unit like in or cm (in my case) which is totally crazy for an application that aims at presentations that will be given on a screen where the unit is always pixels. Captivate will translate the PPT-resolution to pixels and propose it, is there a reason why you don't want to use that? If necessary you can always rescale the project in Captivate later on (not recommended neither because of the quality loss).

  • Importing PowerPoint slides failure

I have been using Captivate v1 for a couple of years without
problems. Recently I installed Norton 360 and it was a 360 degrees
turn for the worse, hijacking computer's ram etc, so I had to
uninstall it. I also run a utility that ereases all traces of
&^%$£ Norton. Well, after that I can't import my
PowerPoint slides into Captivate, the window is killed as soon as
it appears! Anyone has a clue what could it be? I've uninstalled
Captive and reinstalled it again, including the upgrade, but the
    problem persists.
    Thank you.

    Hi
If you get an answer to this please let me know because I've
got the same problem. I've imported PowerPoint that contains
hyperlinks that in conjunction with questions that if correct go to
the next slide but if wrong it reviews the relevant slide again
(played earlier in the presentation) and then automatically
hyperlinks back to start playing the multiple choice questions
again - can this be done in Captivate whilst still generating
    accurate scores?

  • Cannot powerpoint slide under extension .pptx

    Hai,
Please how I can solve the following problem
    1. I cannot insert powerpoint slides into created in n2007
version in extension .pptx. Becuase the .pptx powerpoint control is
not coming in dialogue box. The captivate is only showing the .ppt
extension. So I have to change the 2007 format into 97-2003 format
    to copy into captivate 3.
    2. I cannot run the shockwave flash output file in real
player or in media player after publishing. But I can run .html
output format in internet explorer only. After publishing which
extension I can run through adobe flash player. Please let me know
    With thanks
    Pol

    Hi Pol
Captivate 3 does not support the PPTX format. If you scan the
help file that ships with it, you will find the following verbiage:
Note: Adobe Captivate does not support new file formats in
Office 12 like pptx, docx. To import PowerPoint slides created
using office 12, save the presentation in an earlier version of
    PowerPoint before importing it.
I believe another community expert offered you identical
advice about this in a different thread.
I don't believe Real or Media player understand how to deal
with Flash output. Only the Flash player does. The Flash player
exists as either an add on (for Firefox and other browsers) or an
    ActiveX control for IE.
    Cheers... Rick
