Automation Error for Single Threaded ActiveX on Windows 7

Hi All,
I have an old activex control embedded to SAP GUI (using CL_GUI_CONTROL) running without problem for years on Windows XP.
When I try to run this control using the same SAP GUI version and patch level on Windows 7, the SAP GUI is not responding/crash.
After deep investigation, I find that every activex with threading model - single threaded, failed to run on SAP GUI on Windows 7. While this single threaded control run without problem on Windows XP.
I have tried to upgrade the SAP GUI to the latest version & patch (720 patch level 8), the same result occures. The control successfully embedded to SAP GUI 720 on Windows XP, but not on Windows 7.
I also have verified the single threaded control can run on Windows 7 without problem by embedding the control to other software like Ms. Exce or Ms. IE, and run it successfully on Windows 7.
Does any one experienced in this issue? or can anyone try to create a simple activex control with single threaded and run it successfully from SAP GUI on Windows 7?
Below is a sample of ABAP program that I use to embedded the activeX control, and the SAP GUI trace log.
If needed I can send you the sample activex control (how to attach files?) and step by step to reproduce the error.
Please advice, is this an SAP GUI issue?
Thank you.

  • Incompitible Print Setting Error for HP LJ 8500n in Windows Vista

    Hi, I have two laptops, one with Windows XP and another with Windows Vista Business. There is a HP LJ 8500n connected with router and accessed by both laptops. Somehow, when I print from Windows XP laptop and I change the print settings there is no error message. But, when I print from Vista Business Laptop, it prints without any error message for default setting, but when I try to change the print setting (to change the paper size or color) the error message comes with "Incompitible Print Settings. It says: "There are one or more conflicting settings. One of the conflicting settings is: Accessory Output Bin: Not Installed. Output Bin: Mailbox 5." Once I click "Ok" it will have same message with output bin changed to Mailbox 6, etc. After I go through approximately 8 to 10 output bins messages, it gives me the screen where I can change the print settings. After that, I can print with revised setting. But, it is very annoying to go through these messages every time I have change the print settings.
    Please reply, Thank You,

     @fshrago
    For the laserjet 3390, you have the option of using the either the Universal Print Driver (network connection) or Windows Update Driver (USB connection)  in windows 8.1.  Neither of these drivers come with a fax or scan driver.
    To use the fax and scan driver, you will need to use the Windwos Fax and Scan Software however you will need to be usb connected. I have given you links to documents that explain how to use both the Windwos Update driver and the Windows Fax and Scan Software.
    Driver support included in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 or in Windows Update - usb connection only
    Use the software in Windows 8 to scan - usb connection only
    Please understand that the UPD is a print only driver. If you would like a fax/scan driver you will need to connect via USB and use the Windows Fax and Scan driver along with the Windows Update/In-OS driver.
    Good Luck.

    The defaultTrace log has a specifric time in the error message saying

  • Compiler error for single line if

    Hi all,
    I found an interesting quirk, recently. I've condensed the problem into the following simple test class.
    public class Main {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            final boolean myBoolean = args.length > 1;
            if (myBoolean) {
                final double result = doIt();
        public static double doIt() {
            return System.currentTimeMillis();
    }Turns out that the variable declaration on line 9 (it doesn't have to be calling a method), will not compile if I remove the scoping around the if statement. See below:
    public class Main {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            final boolean myBoolean = args.length > 1;
            if (myBoolean)
                final double result = doIt();
        public static double doIt() {
            return System.currentTimeMillis();
    }This fails to compile with the message:
    Main.java:8: illegal start of expression
    final double result = doIt();
    Since the code is perfectly valid (as far as I'm aware), I was hoping someone might have an explanation for this strange behaviour. Oh, it fails to compile on 1.4 and 1.5 compilers.
    The only thing I can think of is that the compiler is being clever and knows the declaration is stupid since the variable is never used. However, this doesn't explain why adding the scoping around the statement allows the code to compile. FYI, this is not limited to if statements. Also happens with for loops. Must be the single line scoping issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    Thank you so much for your insightful and considered suggestion. I hope I don't shock you too much by telling you that I have in fact tried it without the final keyword. Regardless of whether or not this gets around the compilation issue (it doesn't - did you even try it?), the question in my original post was fairly clearly along the lines of "Does anyone know why this compiles with the braces, and doesn't compile without them?"
    Does anyone have anything useful to contribute?

  • DBMS_PARALLEL_EXECUTE multiple threads taking more time than single thread

    I am trying to insert 10 million records from source table to target table.
    Number of chunks = 100
    There are two scenarios:
    dbms_parallel_execute(..... parallel_level => 1) -- for single thread
    dbms_parallel_execute(..... parallel_level => 10) -- for 10 threads
    I observe that the average time taken by 10 threads to process each chunk is 10 times the average time taken in case of single thread.
    Ideally it should be same which would reduce the time taken by a factor of 10 (due to 10 threads).
    Due to the above mentioned behavior, the time taken is the same in both cases.
    It would be great if anybody can explain me the reason behind such behavior.

  • Regarding single threaded servlet

    why pool of instances for single threaded servlet?

    why pool of instances for single threaded servlet
    the container instantiates the servlet when it starts up or when the first request for that servlet comes, instantiation takes place only once.
    when the request comes for a servlet, the container create a thread and gives it response and request object , when another request comes in it creates a thread and gives it request and response object, this process goeson..

    Hopefully this will save somebody some trouble.
    Running 64bit Enterprise SQL and SSAS with Service pack 2 installed.
    Also running Proclarity so 32bit mode Reporting Services is running.
    When trying to create a linked server to my OLAP database I was continually getting the following Error:
    OLE DB provider 'MSOLAP' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7308)
    Many posts suggested I select the "in Proc" check box under the olap provider, but this did not help.
    Finally, instead of using the IDE to create the linked server I used a script to call sp_addlinkedserver and used @provider='MSOLAP.3'.  This fixed the problem.

    Hello,
    We have developed an installer for MS Word and MS Excel plugins. So far it has been working fine for MS Office 2003, 2007 etc. but since I have upgraded to a Windows 8.1 machine with MS Office 2013 installed, the plugin installation is giving error.
    The installation fails and an error dialog appears with Error Code Type: Error, Error:1, Owner:30a.
     The installer works well for MS Office 2010 on Windows 8/ 8.1 machine or MS Office 2010 on Windows 7 machine.

    HiDinesh,
    Is there any other error message when installation fails?
    According to this error message “Error Code Type: Error, Error:1, Owner:30a.”
    This is problem conclusion provided by IBM:
    This issue is no longer reproducible in V6R2012x.
    Installation checks have been modified to throw an error only when none of the Office applications

  • Waiting for a mouse click in a single thread

    Here's my problem:
    I'm working on a program I didn't initially create, and I picked it up from the rough midpoint of its evolution. It is a single thread AWT program, with a mouseListener interface already implemented.
    Here's my problem. In a game setting, we have two players. It is no problem when both are computer controlled. When player one is controlled by a human, I need to wait for a mouse event before returning, because upon returning player two moves (regardless of its player configuration).
    I can't do any kind of busy waiting because it is a single thread. I'm looking for some kind of option besides making the program multithreaded. This also makes it difficult to use some sort of boolean variable, though I don't think it's impossible.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Eric

    #9 - You are correct in your assumptions. I agree it's
    not the best model, but it worked for the original
    purpose, which was to have one player always
    controlled by the computer, and the option of
    selecting a second player as being either human or
    computer. Since each move is made manually - that is,
    for a move to be made, it requires user input - there
    was no harm in returning from a function, because it
    had no immediate computation. The requirements have
    just changed, and now I must allow both players to be
    selectable. This presents a problem in that I have to
    wait for the move actions to finish before
    proceeding.Understood.
    >
    My only question is, how can I access the AWT thread?You mentioned in an earlier post that you have action listeners. As triggered by user events, these are always called on the AWT thread. For example:
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.awt.event.*;
    JButton button = new JButton( new AbstractAction {
            public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                synchronized (myMonitor) {
                    myMonitor.notifyAll();
        });This button can be added to some swing UI. If clicked on, then actionPerformed will be called on the AWT thread, and any threads waiting on myMonitor will be notified.
    I see what you are saying - it's almost exactly what
    my coworkers told me - but I don't have the knowledge
    to implement it, which is why I'm here. Creating a
    monitor object isn't a problem (makeMove() would need
    to be synchronized, otherwise you wouldn't be able to
    call wait()),I recommend using a separate object for the monitor, especially if you are already using synchronized, so that you know exactly how each object's lock is being used. If you're sure it is safe, then there is nothing wrong with using the object itself as the monitor, as you suggest, however.
    but I'm not sure what you mean by the
    action handling method should be called on the AWT
    thread.Just that any action listener method is always called on the AWT thread in response to user action.

    I have a Sony Vaio E Series with WINDOWS 7 64bit home basic preinstalled. It worked perfectly fine for 2 yrs until last month, I needed to replace the hard drive due to bad sectors. Now, after a month of replacing my hard drive fresh from
    Sony Center, I decided to do a dual boot (install another OS - Windows 8.1 pro) on a separate partition. Everything is averagely fine. But 2 nights ago, I encounter a blue screen error for WIN 7 (my pre installed one). It happened the second time, so I started
    it in safe mode and did a system restore. I don't know if it will prevent future occurence of blue screen, but to make sure, I reinstall my factory default drivers using Vaio CARE... Pls help.
    PS: I have not encountered BLUE SCREEN error in Windows 8.1 yet. Is it OS specific? Here's the error the second time, it happened on my Windows 7:

    While installing latest version of iTunes error "This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead" how to deal with it ?

    Doublechecking. What's the filename of the installer you've been downloading? (The 32-bit installer is called iTunesSetup.exe, and the 64-bit installer is called iTunes64Setup.exe.)
