Automator skips files during execution - Is this a bug?

Hi,
I want to create a workflow that will look into one folder and expand all zip files. I didn't filter by zip because all files are zip to start with. I have a very simple automator workflow that does the following:
1) Get Specified Finder Items
2) Get Folder Contents (Repeat for each subfolder)
3) Open Finder Items (Stuffit Expander) - I tried default application also
When I check the results, automator didn't expand up to 90 of the files (~5,000). It seems like the last few files it expanded worked, but earlier files is very sporadic. I am doing something wrong? Is there a way to create a pause after each file that automator opens?
Thanks.

Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem?
I tried to narrow down the problem and try to execute automator with only 1 folder and about 10 zip files. Instead of Stuffit, I used the archive utility. I still get the same results, only a few files gets extracted.
When I tried to select the 10 files manually and select open items in finder, all the files extracts perfectly.

  • Open Cursor Issue because of file browse Item - Is this a Bug in APEX 3.2

    Hi All,
I am using file browse Item to upload file into the database at two places in my application, but it seems whenever I am submitting those two pages, with file path or without file path, its opening an cursor which remains open after that, because of this open cursor count in the application is getting exceeding every time.
For testing this I have made an dummy page containing just file browse item and submit button, and still it is increasing the open cursor count.
Is this a bug in Apex file browse item or there is some other way to handle this.
Please kindly help me in the above issue as this is affecting the production application.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
One observation, Apex is switching the Session ID after one got killed ? I was working on Apex page with browse Item to test open cursor count,
after killing the SID (227) on which the open cursor count was getting increase, it APEX automatically switches to new SID(149) for that session.
Now the problem is even if I have two SID's and one hits the maximum open cursor count, It is not switching to other SID instead the whole application becomes unavailable.

  • Session Files ...is this a bug or by design?

    Audition 3
Please let me know if the only files that are saved with a session are the ones actually inserted in a Multi Track ...TRACK?
I drag , say 20,  wav files into my Files bin so that I can access them in Multi Track or Edit Windows as and when ready. .
    Save the session and exit.
When I reopen.. any file that is not actually inserted in a Multi Track ..track...is not displayed in the Files window.
eg. If I insert seven of the twenty files, the session will reopen with only seven files in the track and same seven files in the  bin.  Meaning I have to go find the other thirteen again!
Surely this is not by design.,..and hopefully I am missing something really basic here.
If I am not being totally dumb...it  is totally unworkeable and I dont get what logic is behind it.
Help please ....or else I will have to use PPRO for my mix session.

"or else I will have to use PPRO for my mix session"
I guess you will have to use PPRO for your mix session.
There is no 'media pool' or 'media bin' as in Cubase or Vegas - only files included in the 'mix' are included in the session.  This is the way AA & CEP have been since day one.
It's probably just me but I am curious to know how you mix something that's not actually included on the timeline and therefore not actually in the 'mix'.
If its a matter of locating files for later inclusion, well you obviously know where they are (I gather that from the frustration of having to go find them each time) then maybe put them all in the one folder so you don't have to look for them.  Or maybe just drag these 'unused' audio files onto seperate tracks and mute them.
Me, I wouldn't use PPRO to mix even if you paid me - well actually I would - I'd just charge more - LOL
    Just a thought...

  • Getting path of parent folder of a file during a workflow execution

How can I get the parent folder/directory of a file during the execution of a workflow? I cant't find any actions i Automator that will give me this.
I want to make a general applicable automated workflow. The path can not be hardcoded in the workflow as different files and folders will be worked on each time the workflow is run.
The input to the workflow is a file or list of files. I want to be able to retrieve the path of the parent folder of these files at runtime.
Will I have to do this through AppleScript? If so, then how?
(in case you have seen my first post on this; it seems I wasn't specific enough so people didn't understand what I want to do. Therefore this second post. Sorry for the iconvenience)

    Hi anilsen!
If all selected files are within the same folder, it would be like this:
    For example:
    • Get Specified/Selected Finder Objects
    • Run AppleScript
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
set output to (container of item 1 of input) as alias
    end tell
    return output
    end run
    Spazek

  • Ipod Was Skipping/Glitching During Playback, Now Has No Files

I've had my 120 gig ipod Classic since 2008, and recently it began skipping/glitching during playback of just about every song. I made sure I had the latest version of iTunes and also defragmented the ipod, neither of which fixed the problem. I came to the Apple forums for a solution, and discovered this thread while searching:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2400544&tstart=135
I did what was instructed in the solution, only for the ipod to display that there are no music files upon rebooting. So now my ipod appears to have been wiped clean despite doing exactly what worked for someone else with the same problem. Am I pretty much out of luck as far as restoring my ipod? (I haven't had it synced to an itunes account since my computer crashed, so most of the files were in no way backed up) Also, does anyone have a legitimate solution to the skipping problem, for future reference?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

TEMP_AUDIT_SEQ generates number with the increment of +1
Although there seems other sequence populating the AUDIT_LOG table through a different sequence with the increment of +10. So till now there are already 1179 different numbers residing in audit_log.seq_no and yet to be generated by the TEMP_AUDIT_SEQ sequence. I will look into more details.
    SQL> select max(seq_no) from audit_log;
    MAX(SEQ_NO)

    SQL> select count(*) from audit_log where seq_no>1675677283 and mod(seq_no,2)=1;

  • Skipping fields during content conversion

is it possible to skip fields during content conversion in file sender adapter?
The case is, the CSV file contains 300+ field and i only need 10. Therefore i have created a datatype with those 10 field.
I was hoping to skip the fields i do not need during content conversion.
If this is not possible i see no other than to create a datatype with 300+ fields by hand. Which will take all day!
Hopefully there is a solution, since i could not find what i needed on the SAP Help or SDN.
Thanks in advance for all your time!

    Hi M,
is it possible to skip fields during content conversion in file sender adapter?
No .. this is not possible during FCC.
The case is, the CSV file contains 300+ field and i only need 10. Therefore i have created a datatype with those 10 field.
Hopefully there is a solution, since i could not find what i needed on the SAP Help or SDN.
Well, you can give it a shot. There are freewares available on internet, which can transform the CSV file to XSD. Then you can import that XSD structure in ESR.
The only point is that your source CSV file must be having the header (with all field names on it).
I had done this with another integration tool, no idea how it will work with PI. But it's worth giving it a try.
If this is not gonna happen, then you have no other option but to create complete DT manually or use adapter module (not recommended for such cases).

I checked C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ for "7affd.msi" - there is no such file. Also I checked same folder on Win7-64 machine and Notebook WinXP-Pro - there is no such file. I was able to install Express on both Win7-64 and Notebook, but not on this machine.
I've tried searching for "7affd.msi" on internet without luck. Also I removed all Visual Studio Express 2010 and used any "Fix-It" utilities to check files and registry. And still have same error.
    How to fix it?

  • Loading test steps during execution

    Hello,
I am using the operator interface from the example. I have modified to suit my application. I run the test using the Single Pass entry point. I have 46 steps in my main sequence. When I press the Single pass execution, Initially it takes a lot of time (I think it compiles all the steps) to start the actual execution.
Why does it take long time to start execution? Is it possible to configure test stand such that it compiles each step as and when it reaches it?
    Regards
    Gopal

    Hey Gopal,
As Ray said, TestStand does not actually compile your modules.  That being said, most likely this load time that you're seeing at the beginning of execution is due to your load options set to load the module when execution begins.  If you go to the step properties, notice under "Run Options" there's a "Load Option" drop-down.  You can look at the help for a description of this property, but in general this setting refers to when the module is loaded into memory.  For time-critical tests, you would want to load either at the beginning of execution or when the sequence file is loaded (as this would extract the load time from the step so that the step could be executed quickly); this is especially important if you are looping on a particular step.  There is an option to "Load dynamically" as well.  With this option, you would see a slight delay before each step during which its module is loaded - rather than a longer delay at the beginning (in which all step modules are loaded).
Note that the default is "Preload when execution begins"; that is why I'm guessing that this is responsible for the delay that you're seeing.
    Thanks,

  • Time Machine is skipping files

    Hi,
I noticed today that Time Machine is skipping a few files during backup.
These files are not listed in the Exclusions.
    Within Terminal, if I run
    tmutil compare
Some of these files are listed with '+' and some with '!' meaning Time Machine must know they exists, but for some reason is overlooking them.
Can anybody suggest a way to resolve this? Perhaps reset the flags for these particular files?
    Cheers

If you use the third-party application "Dropbox," you may see files in the Finder that are not present locally, but are actually on a network server. Those files won't be backed up and won't appear in Time Machine, even though they show in a Finder window. If the files in question are in a Dropbox folder, disable the software or refer to its developer for support.
Continue only if you've ruled out Dropbox or any similar product as a possible cause of the issue.
Open the Time Machine preference pane and unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Options button. If there is one particular folder with items that are not being backed up reliably, add it to the list of excluded items. If there are many such folders, add your home folder to the list, or add a whole volume (i.e., what Apple calls a "disk.") Save the changes.
Start a backup, or wait for one to happen automatically. When it's done, open the preference pane again and remove the exclusion(s) you made earlier. Back up again and see whether there's a change.

  • Rescue and Recovery Skip File prompt

Hello all.  I am running R&R 4.1 on a T60 and run into the issue that R&R can not backup a certain file on occasion.  I like to run R&R at night and all too often in the morning, I find R&R sitting at the prompt waiting for a response for some file it couldn't back up.  Is there a way to setup R&R to just automatically skip those files and log them to a log file for user review?  I know there is the ability to set files to be ignored, but auto-skipping would take care of any file it couldn't back up.   Thanks!

Yeah, I am aware of the exclude options.  That helps reduce the occurences, but doesn't eliminate them.  Do you know if there is any plan in future versions to possibly implement something that eliminates this problem?  There needs to be some way that the R&R backup goes all the way through without human intervention.  I think a log file or summary at the end of the backup would be sufficient.  Either way, thanks for the response.
Yeah, we have the same issue as you.  Rolled it out to everyone and hardly anyone uses it because of the skip file problem.  Tried running it during the day, but causes too much of a slow down.  With everyone's load out being different, you have to teach people how to do the exclude file settings (as you know, most users will ignore your instructions and just not use it claiming it is too difficult), then, on top of that, you will still occasionally have the problem anyway.  Please Lenovo, make R&R go all the way through and just report what got skipped!

  • .seq name available during execution of edit substep?

    Hello,
I have a case where I'd like the sequence file name to be availalbe during execution of the edit substep.  Normally, during running of an actual sequence, this would be available under the runstate tree, but this does not appear to get populated by merely running an edit substep.  Is there a property in existence that is contains the sequence file name during edit substep execution?

Depending on what property you have available, you have a few properties that you could use.
If you pass a step object into your edit substep, you can use Step.Sequence.SequenceFile.Path
If you pass a sequence context into your edit substep, you can use SequenceContext.SequenceFile.Path
Be careful using this property, as it is common to add steps that belong to a sequence file that has not been saved.  In this case, the Path property will return an empty string.
    Hope this helps!
