Autonomy Oracle UCM connector to access Oracle UCM 11g

Hi,
How do I setup Oracle UCM 11g instance so that we can test the Autonomy Oracle UCM connector? Are there any specific configurations or do we need to install anything to make Autonomy Oracle UCM connector to access Oracle UCM 11g. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Autonomy sells a connector that will index items in Oracle UCM into the IDOL Server. You'll have to check with Autonomy on the versions supported and the cost. With this, you could get UCM information into IDOL just the same as you are doing with HTTPFetch and FileSystemFetch.
As for connecting UCM into the WLP Virtual Content Repository, there is not yet anything provided out of the box. However, you can implement your own CM SPI to provide this or you can wait for the product to provide it. It is my understanding that there will be a VCR integration via the CM SPI coming soon.
Finally, BEACMRepoFetch is basically a pre-configured and privately used instance of FileSystemFetch. This is used by the BEA Content Repository to populate the IDOL Server index for full text searches coming through the VCR full text search API.

  • How to access oracle with any unix user (like root)?

I installed Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.
I created one oracle user, and installed oracle in oracle users home directory. In oracle user I can access oracle very well. But I can not use oracle with other unix users like root. What kind of permissions I need to set to do so?

You should never try to connect to Oracle as root, but if you want to connect as any other OS user, you will need to run ChangePerm.sh in $ORACLE_HOME/install in order to do this. It may not be present until you upgrade above the base release (like 10.2.0.3).

  • How to Connect to Oracle 9i database server via Oracle 10g XE

I have installed Oracle 10g eXpress Edition and uninstalled Oracle 9i client database. I used Oracle 9i client to connect to another Database server on a local LAN. Is it possible to create a database link to the old Oracle 9i database server via Oracle 10g XE? If yes, do I need to add ODBC drivers?
I want to achieve the following:
    1) Create a connection to the Oracle 9i database server using Ora101040 odbc drivers.
    2) Use a similar 9i tool (Enterprise Management Console) within Oracle 10g XE to access Oracle 9i Database tables on a LAN network.

Database links between Oracle databases do not require ODBC. They do require Oracle Networking (included with both Oracle9i Database and Oracle Database 10g XE) to be configured correctly.
It is also possible to connect ot the 9i database using the 10g Instant Client (separate download)

There are a number of items that make me believe you do not have a good grasp of Oracle architecture and basics. If true, I encoureage you to start reading the Concepts manual found for the database at http://docs.oracle.com, or at least the O'Reilly book 'Oracle Essentials' found at http://oracle.oreilly.com

    Hi Gaétan/Experts,
Thanks for the post, we are now able to successfully perform the following :-
    1. Configure Documaker Connector - After changing lot of values that was provided in the Installation Guide, which seems to be outdated. For E.g. While using SQL Server Driver, the document says we need to configure the Connection as jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver, where as the code looks for the string jdbc:sqlserver.
    2. Successfully insert the values to AOR table in SQL Server.
    3. Sucessfully run the connector with mock-file-conn-properties, which creates the documents generated thru Oracle Documaker to the specified destination directory.
    Issue:_
    1. While using the UCM Destination, we are encountering an error which is pasted below.
    2. In UCM we are able to create a new document and sucessfully check in using the credentials. The same used thru Connector throws an error.
    3. We are using Oracle UCM - 11.1.1.5.

  • Accessing Oracle Database from PocektPC / Palm

    Hi
We need to develope a mobile application where client can be Palm or PocketPC device (preferably PocketPC)
and the Server is Oracle 9 on Sun Solaris.
Some data will be logged into PDA device and stored in the local database. Thereafter it needs to connect to Oracle and INSERT into it.
We do not want to use any third party sw as far as possible. The client does not have App Server (so web services is not possible)
If we have to use Palm device what are the solutions?
If we have to use PocketPC device what are the solutions?
    thanks and regards
    Haresh Gujarathi
    eMantra Technologies.

    Haresh,
With a max of 10 clients and 3-4 simultaneous syncs, I think your customer can run Lite in standalone mode without the App Server. Before I answer your questions, I'd like to give a brief description of the data model for Lite, which might help.
When you enter data into your client (PPC, Palm or laptop), the data is put into an Oracle Lite Database, located on the client. When you synchronize with the Oracle Lite Mobile Server, the Lite DB on the client is synchronized with the Lite DB on the Mobile Server. This synchronization is done through http and we provide the infrastructure for this process.
Once the data is on the Mobile Server, the data on the Oracle Lite DB can be inserted into the Oracle 9i DB through JDBC.
When you ask about the Wi-fi connection, what exactly are you speaking of? For example, do you mean an 802.11b connection between the Lite client and the Mobile Server, and then an additional 802.11b connection between the Mobile Server and the 9i DB? In both cases, this can be done because it's simply a different mode for the transport of data.
    1. If Lite is not in the picture at all, then you can simply use one of Oracle's connectors (e.g. JDBC) to access the 9i Database.
    2. Yes, .NET is supported in Oracle Lite, releases 5.0.2.8 and higher.
    3. I'll have to do some further research for the answer to this question to see if it's possible to write an app that can connect to the Lite DB on Palm using Mobile VB.
    4. #2 can be done and it might be possible to do #3.
    5. There are some tutorials on OTN. Here is the link:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/lite/tutorials/index.html
Please let me know if you have additional questions.

  • Varbinary error in DBUM connector reconcile from Oracle target into MSSql

I am getting the following exception thrown when I try to run a lookup reconcile from (target) Oracle 10g DB into Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (which is the OIM DB).
-> * Nested Exception (Underlying Cause) - com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Operand type clash: varbinary is incompatible with text
The connector type is DBUM 9.1.0.3 and I am trying to reconcile the database roles lookup.
    The OIM version is 9.1.0.2 with BP08 applied (upgrade path with 9.1.0.1 -> 9.1.0.2 + BP08)
The OIM database is Microsoft SQL server 2005 with SP2
    sqljdbc version 1.2
Communication between OIM and Oracle has not been configured as 'secure'
The Database connection seems to be ok (I tested the connectivity/create/delete with the Utility provided to test the connector)
In the same environment I have a Active Directory against which I can run both trusted and untrusted reconciles, so it may suggest that any error is specific to the Oracle resource.
    Thanks for any advice/tips

  • Unknown Database Connector Error using Oracle stored procedures

We are using an Oracle database for the first time with our Crystal Reports, and I am attempting to modify a report to use a new stored procedure.  When I attempt to add either the new procedure, or to add a new copy of the existing procedure, I get an error message:
    Unknown Database Connector Error
If I remove the existing procedure first (leaving no database objects at all), and then attempt to add back exactly the same stored procedure that I just removed, I get a different error message:
Database Connector Error: '42000:[Oracle][ODBC]Syntax error or access violation'
Neither of these errors is particularly helpful.  The stored procedure in question works as is.  I can run it in SQL Developer, and it also executes within the existing report if I run it.  Unfortunately, it needs to be modified and given a new name, so I need to be able to add the new stored procedure to the report.
The operating system is Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP3.  The Oracle version is 11g (11.2.0.2.0).  Crystal reports version is Crystal Reports 2008 (12.3.0.601).  The stored procedure returns a refcursor.  The ODBC connection is created using the "Oracle in OraClient11g_home1" driver.  When I test the connection, it tells me it was successful.
If it matters, the report is a Saba report.
Can anyone shed any light on what the problem is and how to fix it.  If the solution is to upgrade the Windows version, that is under the control of our tech support and there is no information available as to when it will happen.

Yes - I had used the Set Datasource Location to point to the correct ODBC connection.  I get the same results with an existing report as I do with a new blank report.
I have no idea where the service market place is.  Honestly, I find the entire SAP site confusing.  I found one reference to the PAM guide, but when I clicked on it, it insisted on a userid/password, and apparently the userid/password I have for this discussion group doesn't pass.  I did find, eventually, a document called "Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 3 for Windows - Supported Platforms".  When I read it, it tells me that it's compatible with Oracle 11g, generic ODBC, and Windows XP SP3, which is what we are using.  I'm hoping that this document has equivalent information to the PAM guide.

  • Oracle Management Connector Framework

    Hi,
I'm following a guide on using the Oracle Management Connector Framework to access information within OEM. I've installed OEM 10.2.0.3 and it is running fine. However i do not have the connecotr framework installed yet.
The guide i am following says:
"Download the Connector Framework installable files from OTN by clicking
    Downloads, then Enterprise Manager."
But after going to the OTN site and following the links it takes me to the download for OEM again. Does anyone know where i can get the connector framework from?
    Many thanks,
    Lewis.

OK. The framework comes with the EM Download or CD. So what you need is how to install or access it.
See "Installing the Connector Framework" in this document

  • Permission required to access oracle client service names

    Hello,
I  actually have a problem with accessing oracle client service names in Crystal.
    The problem is:
I installed crystal reports 2008 and installed oracle client on a machine (I used an account that is a local administrator of the machine during installation) but the problem is that the users who are going to access crystal are standard users and they couldnu2019t access the services in oracle client and when they try to refresh the report they get the following error
"Failed to load database information. Details: the DB connector 'crdb_oracle.dll' couldn't be loaded. the correct version of the database client for this database type might not be installed"
I gave the users permission on the two folders (C:\program files \Common files \) and RegEdit : (C:\Windows \ System 32\) but the problem wasnu2019t solved so I made them local administrators and the problem was solved but I donu2019t want to make the users  local administrators on the machine , some people told me that I have to install oracle client with the user who will be using crystal but the problem is that two users will be working on the machine not just one and they have two different accounts and when I tried to give the users full control permission on oracle folder , the problem wasnu2019t solved, So I wanted to know if any one faced a similar problem and how to solve it without making the users local administrators.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
It appears you have everything installed and configured for Cr to work so it looks like it's a DB issue.
What do you see in the logs if you enable logging on the Server? Are your requests even getting to the Server from CR under the user account?
Test it using the admin and then the user account.
You could try checking on the option to use Trusted Authentication in the database log on windows of CR. This should pass the users PC log on credentials to the Server.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Bug in Oracle Outlook Connector 10,1,1,0,2 (1431) and Oracle Forms 6i Rel 2

    Hello,
    I installed Oracle Outlook Connector. 10,1,1,0,2 (1431)
We are using Oracle Collaboration Suite on a 10g database.
    On the Desktop.
    I am using.
    a) MS/OFFICE Outlook 2003.
    b) Oracle Forms and Reports 6i Release 2.
    c) Oracle instance client 10.1
    d) Windows XP HOME SP2.
    What happens?
    1) Oracle Run Time Forms 6i and Oracle/MS Outlook 2003 run fine(Work) when I run them ONE AT A TIME!
    2) When I run them together(At the same time) I receive this error message. FRM-40735 ORA-06508.
I have narrowed it down to an Oracle Connector 10g problem.
    How did I do that?
In XP Home you can create multi-user accounts.
I created a new user account this time I connected to Microsoft Exchange Server 2000.
Results. Oracle runtime 6i works at the same time as MS Outlook 2003.
I am able to use both Programs at the same time. Without any error messages.
    Next Step.
I created a new user account and this time I used an Oracle Connector 10.1g for MS Outlook 2003.
Results: Same error message as before. Ran the application(s) at the same time. FRM-40735 and ORA-06508
    Please help with any ideas.
    Thank you
    Dennis

The product managers look through the forum threads periodically. Some more regularly than others. Since I only look at the forum about once a week, I'm probably the least regular of the PMs. Development also scans the forum, but less regularly.
If you have urgent issues that requires action/response from Oracle, it is better to open an SR with Oracle Support.
    Hope that helps,
