Average Cost - Discrete Inventory Item

Which table would be used to get the Unit Cost (Average Cost) of the Discrete Inventory Item...
Thanks & Regards,
Genoo

You could the list of objects which are accessed by a concurrent program by opening the report using Reports Builder and check the query, or enable trace and check the TKPROF file -- FAQ: Common Tracing Techniques within the Oracle Applications 11i/R12 [ID 296559.1]
The list of tables/objects accessed by a form can be determined by opening the form in Forms Builder, or use any of the method in (How To Determine Table and Column Name from a Field in a Form in 11i [ID 259722.1]).

  • What is the formula for calculating average cost for an item in inventory

    Hi,
Can someone please share the formula to calculate average cost for an item in inventory which uses Average Costing?
    Thank you,
    Naren.

    HI
When a transaction updates the average cost of an item, the new average cost is calculated as follows:

  • How to change average cost of an item?

We have a scenario where the average cost of the goods has gone completely off of what we think it should be for a few items. Many reasons. But question is how do we change average cost assigned to these items without adding to the inventory?

    Hi,
You can change the average cost of an item by performing an average cost update.
The inventory quantity remains unaffected, but depending on whether you are increasing or decreasing the unit cost, the inventory value will get affected to that extent.
Inventory > Costs > Average Cost Update - query the concerned item and update the cost as required.
    Thanks,

  • Average Costing - sub inventory rollup

    Hi,
I am writing some reports that use average costing.
The reports need to report average cost @ subinventory level, but also @ inventory level.
Does Oracle maintain average cost information @ all levels of the hierarchy or do i need to recalculate @ run time for the the master inventory?
    Thanks.

More clarification on this - you can find this on metalink -
The five Valuation accounts and the default Expense account are
defined at the organization level. The valuation accounts apply to
each subinventory and intransit within the organization. They
cannot be changed at the subinventory level under layer costing.
The expense account defaults to each subinventory within the
    organization and can be overridden.
You can choose a different valuation account for each cost element, or use the same account for several or all elements.
How you set up your accounts determines the level of elemental
detail in the General Ledger and on Inventory valuation reports.
The system maintains the average unit cost at the organization level; it
does not use any subinventory valuation accounts. If you had separate
valuation accounts by subinventory, total inventories would balance,
but account balances by subinventory would not match the inventory
    valuation reports.

  • Report for Average Cost of Inventory?

  • Inventory Average Costing Question

    Hi,
I'm convering onhand quantity from legacy inventory system to Oracle Inventory and we use Average Costing.. Here are the steps.
    1. Converting the items via item import.
    2. Convering onhand quantity with Misc receipts using transactions interface
    3. updating the Average cost of these items via transactions interface .
When i convert the onhand quantity there is no cost for these items and all the mtl_trasnaction_accounts transactions were created with 0$.. With the average cost update, mtl_trasnaction_accounts transactions were created with $ amount..
What is the best sequence for reconcilation point iof view with the inventory and GL???
    Please suggest..
    Thanks,
    Shree

Hi, in my experience the steps you indicates are correct. Anyway, you can avoid step 3 if you put the unit cost directly in the transaction open interface. This is correct only if your costs are not divided in more than one element (eg. you have only the material cost element). If you do in this way, you will see your miscellaneous transactions will have costs and related records on MTL_TRANSACTION_ACCOUNTS will be created with a positive amount.
As you will know, also when you perform a miscellaneous transactions by using the form, you have the possibility to inidcate the unit cost. Normally you do this if your actual average cost is not correct for your transaction, or if the average cost is 0.
If you follow this indications, you should not have problem at the moment of the reconciliation with GL.

  • Purchase Taxes Affects Moving Average Cost

    Hello experts,
is it possible to have the sales tax paid on purchases affect the moving average cost of the item, in a simple manner?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hi,
From your explanation i came to understand that the tax amount has to be added to the inventory value.
You need to use the landed cost document.
    For example,
incase if you are using EDCessHcess+Vat tax, choose only vat tax in purchase document.
and the EDCessHcess has to be added to inventory value.
Use ED,Cess,Hcess in the landed cost.
This would pass  EDCessHcess amount to the inventory.
After booking the Goods Receipt PO,you need to immediately book the landed cost,Which will affect the moving average value.
Else the tax value will be added to price difference account-mapped in the warehouse and there would be much deviation in the moving average.
Hope this would help in solving the issue.

  • Drop Shipments costing of Inventory using the average method.

How does the system handles the costing of inventory using the average method during dropshipments?
One of my prospects uses average costing method for the accounting of their inventory. The issue now is, how does the system compute s for the cost since the goods/inventory is delivered directly by the supplier to the customer? What is the basis for the amount to be posted in COGS? Thanks!
    null

For Drop shipments two inventory movements are still performed. When the goods are initially received (albeit logically), Oracle Inventory immediately issues them out of stock again - just as if you had ship confirmed them. Therefore you inventory accounting is also the same, and will use the purchase price of the goods as the inventory value.

  • Average Costing To FIFO

    Dear All,
I am currently working in a implementation project. My client is working on Average Costing Inventory Org but they want report to be in FIFO basis
Report Should show : Item Name, Item Desc, Sub Inventory, UOM, Opening Stock of that period with price, Receipts for that Period with price, Issue for that period with price and Closing Balance on FIFO Basis
Please suggest me how to go about this on the same. Please someone share the code if someone have any. What logic do i need to follow and where to pick the data.
It is show stopper for us now as we do not have any standard report.
    Thanks,
    Anupam

Your driving table will be mtl_material_transactions.
Join it with mtl_system_items_b and cst_cost_details to get additional data.
    Hope this helps

  • How to Change Costing Methods Average Costing to FIFO Costing

    hi folks,
i had requirement i.e i want to change from average costing to fifo costing in my current company?
    how can we change this?
    any solutions will be appreciated
    regards,
    sri

Look at the default categories form to find the category that is is assigned for inventory.
Then go to the category set and see what the level of control is. If it is master see if you can change it to organization. (If items are assigned you may not be able to).
I think then you can change the attribute controls.

  • Average cost source

    Hi all,
I want to change the cost of an Item to a fixed cost while in organization default costing method is Average.
Can any one tell me the tables affected when the average costing is done.
    Looking for your positive response..

    Hi all,
There is only one way I have found that to update the average cost every time the the costing process updates to new cost. I have used a trigger in MTL_MATERIAL_TRANSACTIONS table after update of NEW_COST when the INVENTORY_ITEM_ID=1111 and TRANSACTION_TYPE_ID=44 and submitted a job that inserts a row for average cost update with costed flag=N. After the costing process is done, next time when I issue this item to discrete manufacturing job it takes that updated cost.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Average Cost Method

    Hi all
    - I'm starting a test for an average cost method Organizations, (Inventory,Purchasing ,Order Management)
-Is it necessary to enter the receipts and issues day by day to keep the Financial Transactions posted from the issue by correct averge cost calculated
as i know the Issuing Txn is:
Dr : COGS (Item Qty * Average Cost Calculated)
Cr : INV (Item Qty * Average Cost Calculated)
    Regards
    Amr Hussien

Since you are using average costing, time has impact. for example, If you have PO for an item with 2 different Prices.PO1 and PO2. Once you receive the PO1, your average cost is to be based on PO1.so if you delayed the receipt, the true cost is not reflected for the txn occurred on the day at which PO1 is received. Similarly assume that if you receive PO2 , and making entry of PO1 and PO2 in the same day. The average cost is calculated on the day of entry. But the cost is not reflected for the transactions that were done earlier to the receipt of PO1PO2. In this case, your objective of using average cost is lost. So it is necessary to receive the Items into stock as quick as possible.(Set dead lines for inspection, receiving into stock..etc),
    thanks,

  • Equity resale on average cost basis

In the Resale of Shares , we can select the individual deals and then resell the shares from that deal. System will calculate the Realized Gain / loss based on the individual buy and sell deal.
If we buy the same shares at different dates and at different prices, can we resale part of it and whether the system can calculate on weighted average basis of all the deal purchase instead of the individual deal ?
    regards,
    Charan

    Hi
There are two alternative methods for initializing item average cost.
    1) Use Average Cost Update to enter the item cost in total or by cost elements. This can be done manually through the form or programmatically using a custom script.
    2) Use Miscellaneous Receipt transaction to enter the item quantity and its unit cost. This way you are initializing the on hand and the average cost as well. If the on hand should be zero, you may use pair of transactions. First a miscellaneous receipt transaction for quantity 1 and the proper unit price, and the second a Michele Issue transaction for the same quantity. You could load the mischievous transactions into inventory interface table.
After loading the migration transactions and on regular basis you should run the cost manager process for each inventory organization. That could be scheduled to run every few minutes, as routine.

  • Average Cost conversion

    Hi All,
We have requirement to convert Average costs for one of the inventory orgs. Please throw some light on high level approach we need to follow for Average Cost conversion.
    Appreciate your help. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Sagar N.

    Sagar,
Average Cost Information can be converted along with Onhand Quantity Conversion. there is a table mtl_cost_txn_interface which connects with mtl_transactions_interface, you can use this table to bring in detailed item cost information in oracle.
