Avi resize on export

hi,
i tried to export avi but can't seem to find a way to resize the footage on export. i could export it on the current size and then resize in cleaner, but then it will take me twice the amount of time.
i could also create a new sequence with the size that i want then drag my old sequence to that new sequence which will resize them according to the new sequence. but then i will have to render them again.
just curious if there's a way around it.
thank you
jack

  • Resize on export???

Upgraded (??) to Photos with the OSX 10.10.3 install.  It seems the ability to 'resize' photos on export has vanished...  That's a HUGE feature degradation from iPhotos in my view.  Anyone else found a solution in Photos, or am I forced to go to a 3rd party app?

  • No link to the local .avi files after exporting Crystal report as .pdf

    Hello all,
    The overall scenario is like-
My application fires a query on SQL Server database and result of that query is stored in a Dataset. This dataset is set as a datasource to the Crystal report.  Now some, records (returned by the query) have .avi files(i.e. Event Videos which are stored on the local hard disk) associated with them. I have stored these .avi files in a specific path on local Hard disk say "C:/EventVideos/*.avi" .   I used a special format in these avi files name. (like - "EventVideo_1.avi" (This is for 1st event), "EventVideo_5.avi" (This is for 5th event)etc. to identify which avi is for which event. All events do not have avi files associated with them)
Now, I take one Text Object in crystal report. Using it's Format editor created a formula for hyperlink as -
          "file:///c:/EventVideos/EventVideo_" + {DataTable1.EventID} + ".avi" .
EventID is the field of dataset which has ID's (like 0, 1, 2,  3, 4 etc) of all resulted events. It is of a String data type.
Now when I export, my report as .xls, .rtf, .doc, I can open the avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object, cursor get change to Hand and after click on it avi file start to play.
But if I export it as .pdf, it does not contain the link for avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object , it does not change to Hand, and after click on it nothing happens. No video play.
I stick to this problem. What should be done in this case?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Lightroom 4 resizing on export feature - using the "long edge" resize option - doesn't seem to work

In previous versions of Lightroom (prior to 4), when I used the resize feature while exporting, I often used the "long edge" value to resize.
Previously, when I selected 2500 as the "long edge" value, I would receive exported JPGs in a size of something like 2500x1650 or so for landscape shots and 1650x2500 for portrait shots.
With LR 4 (not sure if this started with the RCs or 4.0), using the same settings, I'm getting landscape shots that are 3700x2500 and portrait shots that are 1650x2500. This is acting more like I said I wanted a dimensional resize of _____ X 2500 instead of long edge of 2500.
I tried playing around with some of these settings, but nothing seems to give me the old behavior of 2500 on the long edge, even though that's what I've set it for.
Anyone else seen this type of issue?
I'm currently running LR 4 RC2, but also noticed this on RC1, but not sure of 4.0.  I'm a Mac user, running the current version of Lion (10.7.3) on a 2010 Mac Pro.
    Thanks,
    Mark

With RC2 on Windows 7 (64 Bit) I get 2500x1667 for landscape and 1667x2500 for portrait, as expected. Seems to be an issue in the Mac version only.
A workaround might be to use "dimensions" instead and leave one of the fields empty (LR inserts "0" there, but one cannot enter "0" manually). I think this is equivalent to "long edge", but I am not 100% sure (edit: ok, I think I am nearly sure that it is).

  • IPhoto questions - resizing and exporting

Hi there - I have a couple of questions surrounding iPhoto and resizing images.
    1) I want to use my original file - as I first imported it. Most of my images when imported were 2-3MB files. When I export them out of iPhoto, I have a number of options in regards to quality and size. When I exported best quality and maximum size, the file became twice the size of the original (around 5MB). How do I just use the original as it was imported?
    2) When I right click on an image saved onto my desktop and look at 'get info' it tells me what I believe is the actual size of my image - usually around 2.4MB. However, when I open it in Preview and go to tools/adjust size it gives me a 'resulting size' which is much less than what I see when I open the 'get info' option (around 1.5MB). Does anyone know anything about why this is?
    3) I understand the 'myth' surrounding dpi but is there any reason WHY everything is opening at 72dpi when other programs have opened my images at 300dpi?
Many thanks in advance for your help

have you tried exporting with no option? the final size depends on lot of things (and no matter how big it is it will not be better than the original

Actual size would be large - think TIFF size - all JPEG sized re compresses - more compression means slightly less quality and smaller size
    3) I understand the 'myth' surrounding dpi but is there any reason WHY everything is opening at 72dpi when other programs have opened my images at 300 dpi?
Because DPI has not meaning until there are inches associated with the image - it is a meaningless number

  • CS5.5--Issues with audio from imported avi's & issues exporting

    To Start, my laptop:
    CPU: Intel® Core ™ i7-2330QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
    CPU Clock Frequency: 2.00 GHz
    System Memory: 8 GBytes
    Cache Memory: 1 MBytes/6 Mbytes
    Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
    Model name: VPCF226FM
    BIOS VERSION: R1190V#
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    ME Version: 7.0.10.1203
    System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I downloaded the 30-day free trial of Premiere Pro CS5.5 with all updates.  To play with the program, for my own personal amusement, I wanted to edit together pieces from a bunch of avi videos that I know to play properly outside the program, tested on more than one computer.
At first, importing the files seemed to be no problem, making subclips as I went along.
However, as I continued to import files, there began to be a sound issue--sometimes the sound not being present till I was 1/3 of the way through the clip, sometimes the sound seemingly playing catch up with audio that should be earlier in the video appearing later, sometimes the sound wouldn't come up at all, and still other times I'd be, for example, on video 5 when pieces of audio from video 2 would start playing over the current video.
I initially thought it may just be a memory issue, working with many large video files.
But later, when I went to edit the subclips I made, I found that many of them no longer had sound, even if they did when I initially subclipped them.
Weirdly, in the timeline, there is no consistency, as clips will appear in the video track but only some show audio tracks too.  But those with audio tracks don't always play audio and those that show NO audio tracks at all actually do play audio sometimes.  Also, those that show audio tracks and don't play them sometimes will show waveforms, sometimes don't.  A clip with no waveform may not play 95% of the time, but then occasionally will suddenly have the waveform and play a couple times before reverting back to no audio.
A suitable solution for this personal amusement project would just be to drop a new soundtrack over the thing but, before I even got that far, I tried exporting as avi's and mpeg4's but then get error messages such as:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-785]
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
In case it was a memory issue, I tried starting a new project, only importing 2 videos, but had the same audio and exporting issues.
I'm getting really frustrated as I spent a lot of time importing/subclipping and then even more time prepping before that.
For those who are bound to ask, while new to Premiere, I'm not a novice with editing.  I've used Final Cut Pro at work for many years (without such issues).

  • Resizing using Export not getting me to the size I need

I need to resize a jpg from my iPhoto library to 180x200 pixels. I have followed the forums suggestions, but can't get to this size ratio. Can this be done with iPhoto 6. Many Thanks,
    flygirl10

My needs require the entire photo to be resized to the smaller 180 x 200. If it is cropped then parts of the photo will be lost. Can the photo be put in preview and altered? Or another application?
And the only way to do that is to crop it to 180x200 - if it is 300x200 (or any size other than 180x200) it is not 180x200 - and to get the aspect ratio to a set ratio you have to crop - by any application
    There are two issues
    - the aspect ratio which is a ratio and you could crop to 18x20 - or 9x10 - or and numbers that have the same ratio as 180x200 but cropping to the desired size is the easiest to explain
    - and the pixel size - if the aspect ratio is 9x10 or 180x200 and you export with the largest pixel dimension being 200 your final photos will be 180x200
Setting a different aspect ratio means that the content of the photo has to be changed - you can not print a 4x6 photo on a 4x3 piece of paper - it is not physically possible

  • Where is this elusive DV-AVI Type II export setting?

    Using PE4...
Recent threads on exporting parts of clips mention exporting to "DV-AVI Type II" and unchecking "Recompress" etc.  As far as I have found, I have three AVI options available via File - Export - Movie - Settings - General:
    Uncompressed Microsoft AVI
    Microsoft AVI
    Microsoft DV-AVI
Under Video - Compressor (if this is the relevant place to look), the Uncompressed Microsoft AVI option offers 10-bit YUV... or 8-bit YUV..., and both the the Microsoft AVI and Microsoft DV-AVI option offer DV NTSC or DV PAL.
I've searched around the settings and can't find anything that says "Type II".  So am I missing something obvious?  Do I need to download a different Codec or something?  Which export settings do I use to export DV-AVI Type II as recommended?
    Thanks for any help,
    Dave

This is essentially the same thing we covered in your other thread, Dave. Type 2 is not a format. It's a type of AVI.In fact, it's the only type of AVI Premiere Elements outputs.
So you don't need to worry about that. All you need to worry about is the codec -- and the codec you want to use is DV, which should be the default output setting for AVIs from this program.
I've included more details and instructions on outputting DV-AVIs in your other thread.

  • Strageness when resizing and exporting

So, I'm trying to export about 40 shots in a mix of aspect ratios and orientations from iPhoto 6. What I want to do is resize them so that they fit on a 640 x 480 without needing to be resized. I want landscape shots to be 640 width x 480 height and portrait shots 320 width x 480 height. I figured I could just change the max height to 480 but that changes the width to 320 and I get a bunch of 320 x 480 and 480 x 320s. When I change the width to 640 it changes the height 960 and they're all too big.
Is there a way to do what I'm trying here without doing the two sets seperately?
    Thanks!

    SU:
Export the files, full size, to a folder on the Desktop. Then download and launch Resize! (a freebie) and set the size to Proportional - Height 480. Drag the folder into the app's window and hit Go. A new folder will be created with the resized files that all have a height of 480 and either 320 or 640 width. You can set the quality/compression level to suit your needs. A 60% level will reduce the original 2.5 MB file down to about 50 KB with excellent results. Great for web posting.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • AVI / M4V Editing & Exporting Problems

Hey everyone, so I'm completely stumped here. I've ripped an educational dvd that I need to extract 2 clips from, which I can do in Premiere Pro but every time I try to export Media Encoder starts up and it's tries to load the project for about 4-5 minutes then gives me an error. "Could not read from source. Please check if it has been moved or deleted." I've read on the forums that this would require to delete an reinstall the suite if it's been on before, but that's just it, it hasn't. It was a fresh install of Production Suite on a brand new computer. My video was ripped as an AVI. My sequence settings are DV NTSC at 48K audio. I've tried exporting a 1 minute clip for testing purposes at H.264, MPEG4, MPEG2 and none of these work. I was wondering if it might be the source video being 1:32:23 long. I'm stumped and need this for a project so any help is welcomed.
    Thanks.
    -Drew Jensen

There seems to be a new reason for this error.
AME doesn't actually export the Premiere sequence.  It first makes a copy, and uses that to perform the actual export.  This allows you to keep working on the original while export happens in the background.  But here's the problem, Premiere can apparently corrupt the project file when it makes a copy for AME to use.  The file is right where AME thinks it should be, but because it's corrupt, it "can't read" the file, and you get the error.
    I haven't found a solution yet.

  • How do I resize and export photos in Aperture without them becoming pixelateded

I'm having trouble resizing my photos and exporting them without the end result being an overly pixelated photo.  This happens when I am resizing my photos to a 5 by 7 size.

    Amanda,
Welcome to the user-supported Aperture discussion group.
In Aperture, you don't resize to a "print" size.  You export to a specific pixel size.
So, what size are you actually exporting it as?
I believe both Terence and I suspect that you have a very low-res picture and you are telling Aperture to make it have more pixels.  If you are intending to print the photos, there is really no difference in sending the original, low-res version to the printer versus having Aperture add pixels to your photo.  Something, somewhere, will have to add pixels.

I am using Indesign CC9.2.  A problem has recently developed where I cant resize a jpeg.  It doesnt matter file size or settings.  I have tried every combination.  I export a simple document to jpeg and save to my desktop.  I open the file in Preview.  I resize it, and an error message states "this change cannot be saved".
This only happens with Jpegs I have exported from Indesign. No problems with jpegs from any other source.  Any ideas?

But the same problem comes with most of free image editors, they don't suppoert CMYK.
Maybe that Kristine should export as RGB, then she will be able to scale it or scale it upon JPG export from InDesign.

  • Make a video smaller within iMovie (not resize for export)

I am trying to fit a clip within another clip which has chroma keying. Video "A" is a video clip of people watching a TV screen. The screen portion of the TV has been chroma-keyed. Video "B" is the actual footage of the event. I want to fit video B within the simulated TV screen in video A. I know that Premier can resize videos but I am not sure if you can do that on iMovie.

FinalCutExpress would allow that too, incl. making the insert perspective..
    ok, iM:
    no.
    but a workaround... :
    • create in any paint-app a black.jpeg (or any other color)
    • add that to a new project
    • add your 'TV signal' as pic-in-pic
    • re-size * that … => now, your TV-signal is in right place and right size ..
    • export project, re-import to your original project, use Greenbox to 'overlay' ..
to * find the right position, export a freeze from your original project to your paint app, add 'markers' ..
re-reading this let me assume, I should illustrate that .. I'll be back in a minute ..

  • Lightroom 1.3 resize on export artifacts still there, samples inside

Here are samples of the artifacts.
    http://finalpass.net/images/misc/LR-resize/resize.png
This has been brought up before, by me as well but I want to re-iterate the problem since its still not fixed in 1.3. If you export an image out of LR and you have LR resize it for you, there are very apparent "halo" type artifacts around hard contrasty edges which are very apparent for things like white text against a black background.
For this reason, I never resize out of LR but it just adds more steps and a temporary larger footprint for my photos before I resize in PS.

    Hi!
I've done some looking into where the problem starts (for me). I don't see much of the problem when downsizing pictures, but I guess this is because the halos I get annoyed by simply gets too small and thereby (nearly) invisible.
My project started with trying to do a really large print from a Nikon d70 raw file (NEF) and any method I try that involves LR (1.3.1) results in a thin white line inside darker areas.
I've gone through a lot of steps to minimize these artifacts and found LR/Mogrify (which I LOVE for quick exports with frames and names - thanks Tim) but when doing a really large picture it doesn't make it either. (I go from 1750 px cropped dimension to 5866 px for a 149 cm wide picture in 100 ppi.)
So I tried just exporting from LR without resizing at all and with no sharpening at all since I found that sharpening made it worse. And after that opened the file in CS2 and the inverted halos are there, and with USM they became really ugly.
My next step was to reshoot the picture (yes I had the possibility, it's a tree ...) whit my new d300 and thought that would fix it, better lens and all. But no such luck! (Only have to upsize from 2650 px to 5866 px.)
So I looked at the picture in 4:1 magnification in LR and it's visible already before export! My conclusion was that it's something strange that may cameras do. How to figure this out?
Shot an new picture in raw+jpg. No artifacts whatsoever in the jpg! (Viewed in Irfanview)
I open the raw in Nikon Capture NX (which I really haven't found worth comparing at all to LR earlier) and behold: No artifacts at all!
Back to find the problem in LR. Set the picture to zeroed (LR develop preset) and the artifacts are barely visible, but there. The thin, white line starts to become visible as soon as I start adding any kind of contrast. The contrast slider, the point curve and the tone curve all increases the effect of the halo. Even the clarity slider and recovery have some impact.
I also tried to export from Capture NX to a tif file and then import to LR and did a lot of tweaking with that one, but no halos appears. But if I sync with the picture that gave me problems to begin with, the tif also gets these thin, white lines. However, if I copy the values by typing them in to the different tools no artifacts appear. (But the pictures didn't end up looking the same due to different file formats I guess.)
My conclusion so far is that the problem doesn't come from the export part of LR but from the raw conversion. Is this possible? Can anyone confirm or deny my theories? I'm certainly not certain ...
It seems to me the more you pull the sliders the worse it gets.
Does it affect different raw files in different ways? Is this a Nikon problem? What cameras do you work with?
Wow! This became a loooong story. And I'm not really much clearer about this now than I was before I started. Just wanted to share this. Maybe it helps ...
