Avoid Teststand popup on DST switch

Hello dear Teststanders :-),
each time the daylight savings time switch, our long time running testers complain that the sequence was changed and it can't be reloaded because the execution is running. This is quite annoying. Although the tests are continuing in the background, I'm not sure it doesn't affect the test. Also in the reports there is a 1-hour step.
Is there a way to avoid this, i.e. use UTC? Maybe as Windows setting?
We're using Teststand 3.5. Have there been changes in later versions regarding this?
Best regards,
Thomas

If you don't care about the clock being off by an hour, you can disable the "automatically adjust clock for daylight savings time" setting for the operating system. That will probably work as the clock should not be adjusted in that case. Then you can always adjust it for daylight savings time manually, when you are there to allow the sequence to continue executing.
Hope this helps,
-Doug

  • Issues with Alarm Clock after DST switch

Since ages now my iPhone's alarm clock is setting off at 6am...Since ages? Yep! True! But, actually: BUT not any more since the DST switch last weekend.
Since then it sets off one hour late!!!
And this without having changed anything in the definition of the alarm!
And this with the phone's time displaying the right (winter) time!

This is an acknowledged bug on iOS4.1 (at least according to an article on the Guardian). It was found about 3 weeks ago in Australia and NZ where DST change happened then. It only affects recurring alarms (one-off alarms are working fine). I have to do some research but it looks that also affected some calendar appointments set on time zones different than mine. The recommended action is to set up one-off alarms only but I find better to set my recurring alarms one hour early until a patch is issued by Apple.

  • TestStand 2010 SP1 - Expression switches the keyboard layout

    Hello,
we are switching from TestStand 2010 to TestStand 2010 SP1, and today I noticed the follow behavior.
If I place the cursor in an Expression of a step, the keyboard layout switches from german (DE) to englisch (US).
You can imagine that's very unfavorable to program. The problem occurs on several machine running WindowsXP.
Funnily enough on a pc with Win7, all is looking good. Furthermore I can't discover such behavior on previous versions of TestStand.
    Has somebody an idea?
    Thanks in advance

  • PK with TIMESTAMP causes insert unique constraint error at DST switch

    Hi,
I have a test that inserts rows in a table that has a TIMESTAMP in its PK.
When inserting rows that cross over the November DST change, it tries to insert these dates:
    --- Sun Nov 02 02:00:00 EST 2008
    --- Sun Nov 02 01:00:00 EST 2008
    --- Sun Nov 02 01:00:00 EDT 2008
This is the output of 3 different UTC dates. We can see that there are 2 x 1am, but they differ in their DST. They are really 3 different UTC dates.
    But I get this error:
--- Expected error: ORA-00001: unique constraint (DDLTEST1.SYS_C00142622) violated
But I can get around that error and can insert these same dates if I set my JVM to UTC. The inserts work so I suspect this to be a JDBC issue.
I am using the Oracle Thin driver in a spring app:
    <property name="driverClassName" value="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" />
    <property name="url" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:db" />
I can post the sample code but wonder if there is an obvious answer to this.
Note that MySql had the same problem. I fixed it by specifying the UTC timezone in the connection string, like this:
    jdbc:mysql://[host]/[db]?useLegacyDatetimeCode=false&useTimezone=true&sessionVariables=time_zone='UTC'
Any idea how to get around that problem without setting JVM to UTC ?

    Hi,
I suspect this to be a JDBC issue.Nope, this is your schema design gap. It breaks the main principle of PK: to uniquely identify a row in a table always. Your PK doesn't satisfy it, since it depends on client's settings. Why is setting the JVM to UTC working ? This is the part that confuses me.
I create the 3 dates in Eastern time, then change the JVM default to UTC: the 3 inserts work.
I create the 3 dates in Eastern time, then leave the JVM to Eastern time , the 3rd insert gets the unique constraint error.
To me, the PK principle is not broken: these are 3 different UTC dates.

  • How to avoid annoying popups under Linux

I'm trying to run our application from Linux with the latest Firefox, but I'm receiving dozens of popups I cannot suppress (see attachment). How to disable these popups? Thx

    Hi Tibor,
Unfortunately, this are from JRE due to applets present in your screen and cannot be suppressed due to security issue.
Anyways, you can try some settings from Control Panel>>JAVA to check if you can reduce the no. of popups.

  • How to avoid security note popup?

    Hi,
I have two BSP Applications, which I start from SRM Enterprise Buyer via new window. I have created an internet service user, which I put in the ICF service of the application.
    Here goes the question.
In one of my BSPs the new window appears like expected. In the otherone I get a popup message (I must translate this from German to English, but I hope you get the contents):
    The popup says:
    <i>Title: Security note
You are about to turn to an insecure connection. data which has been sent to the prior site, will possibly be sent to the insecure site. Do you wish to continue?</i>
Why is that? Both ICF entries use the same user and look the same - under security there is a radio at standard in both cases.
The URL of the BSP without Popup looks like this:
    http://<host>:8028/sap/bc/bsp/sap/z_imp_all1/start.htm
the one with popup like this:
    http://<host>:8028/sap(bD1kZSZjPTMwMQ==)/bc/bsp/sap/z_scan_pzn1/start.htm?sicht=pzn&username=MEYERM&HOOK_URL=https%3A%2F%2Fukmsapweb%2E<host>%2Ede%3A9211%2Fscripts%2Fwgate%2Fbbppu99354e5a01%2F%3F%7EOkCode%3DADDI%26%7Etarget%3D%5Ftop%26%7ECALLER%3DCTLG&OCI_VERSION=3%2E0&http_content_charset=iso%2D8859%2D1&returntarget=%5Ftop
Any ideas, how to avoid the popup, welcome.

    Hi Renald and Rainer,
to Renald: Yes, I have also checked Internet options -- advanced, and unchecked the warning, when switching from save to unsave mode. I also unchecked the warning, if formular data is being redirected. Still this takes no effect. And anyway, I can't see the point, because from the same https page I've got two links which link to http-BSPs. One brings about the unwanted popup - the otherone, with apparently same settings does the security popup. The link itself is launched via JavaScript, like this:
    <a href="JavaScript:launchCTLG('PZN_Scan');" class="catalog" alt="PZN" title="PZN">PZN</a>
to Rainer: I checked the note you gave. It contained a chm file. It also refers to the situation, that you get the popup message, when leaving https and turning to http. It also provides a solution like this:
    <iframe id="myIframe" src="JavaScript:void(0);"></iframe>
In fact I can't change/modify the call of the URL - and it is already being called via JavaScript. The EBP page is SRM generated.
I shall try to copy the BSP application, that works fine without popup, and then put in the code of the popup-version... and see what happens next.
Thanks so far. I shall give feedback, when I have finished.

  • How to avoid mandatory fields popup when cancelling a transaction

    Hi All,

what should i do to avoid that popup ?

    Either
    1) disable client side validation on press of cancel button
2)Or Don't mark the fields required and handle this in ur code on apply button event as server side validation.

  • Avoiding popup window while running in back ground

    Hi all,
I have done one program for updating the basic salary using BDC. salaries are updating correctly for some people. but for people it is not updating. The reason for this is it is throwing one information with popup window saying "Entered Salary is greater than Salary Band Maximum". i want to avoid this popup window and update the salary. I dont want to change any data in any table like T510n. but the salary must be updated. how to overcome this situation.
    Thanks and regards,
    Giri.

    Hi,
In your BDC you can check for the condition when
    SALARY > Max Band Salary.
In such a case, add BDC_OKCODE command with ENTER in the BDC.
I had faced similar problems in BDC before.
    Hope this helps,

  • Running a teststand seqwunce from labview

    HI all
I want to build a user interface in Labview to execute number of sequences in teststand.
I already had a look at the examples shipped with TS. But in my case my UI will  be different that the default UI of teststand.
I want user to select number of sequences(at one time from list box or tree) and then when clicked on execute button , one by one each sequence should get executed.
For this I need provide seq file path to the invoke/property node before execution. But I am not able to find the current method/property for the same.
Can someone please help on this?

By this method you can do the following ( no need to change User interface code -- use the default one ) :
    1) A (Main GUI.vi) vi when executed calls a predfined master sequence to automatically open and run in TestStand.
    2) This predfined master sequence uses a vi to get sequences ( simulating user selected sequences)
3)The sequences selected are stored in a TestStand string array and run one by one.
4)TestStand is automatically closed in the end. ( no user intervention is required)
    Setup :
    1) Unzip the files and put it to c:\temp\LVUSER1 ( This path is hardcoded in vi and testsequences )
    2) Go to TestStand menu --> configure --> station options -> user manager and enable automatically login windows user
    3) Create a new user with windows credentials in TestStand using the user manager.( This is to avoid login popup)
4)Enable report in TestStand if you need a report.
    Run :
    Run the MAIN GUI.vi
    Changes if required :
    1) I have copied CVI user interface from C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\TestStand 4.2.1\UserInterfaces\Full-Featured ( This is because i tested this in )TS 4.2.1
Feel free to copy any of the user interfaces that you are familiar with from the respective TestStand folder.
    2) Correct the paths if required in vi and test sequences.
Hope this example will be helpful to you.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Animated GIF causes popup to hang?

    Hi:
We have started using animated GIFs heavily in Teststand popups for about the last year and half. As we have used this feature more and more, we have had more and more reports of Teststand hanging after acknowledging the popups.
The problem is very intermittant. But it is reproducible. See attached files. All the sequence does is call a non-modal teststand popup over and over that displays an animated image. The popup is set to timeout after one second (just for convenience of reproducing the problem). The sequence consistently hangs within a couple minutes. Behavior is the same in the sequence editor or the CVI user interface. If the sequence is changed such that no image is displayed by the popup, the sequence does not hang.
We are using Teststand 4.0.1f1. Let me know how to resolve this, as it is quite a major issue with us.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    dsteel,
Take a look at the following thread, http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=22997#M22997. Basically there is some code that the TestStand step type uses from the CVI RTE to display non-BMP images in an IE control. Specifically, to display the IE ActiveX control, the step type must create an STA thread to display the dialog and it uses some threading functions from the CVI RTE to do it. There is a slight chance that when the step type waits for the STA thread to complete, the CVI function function to wait for the thread can sometimes miss its event, so the step type ends up waiting forever for the STA to complete, even though it already did.
If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please contact us by using http://ni.com/ask

  • Programmatically closing a popup from a managed bean

    Hi,
    in the following blog [http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-rc-programmatically-closing-a-popup-from-a-managed-bean/|http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-rc-programmatically-closing-a-popup-from-a-managed-bean/]
the following statement is being made at the end ...
The JavaScript call is issued as "window.exitPopup()" because the script is called from the page root. You can easily see how the JavaScript can be modified to have "exitPopup" becoming a generic function avoiding hard coded popup ID's as in my example.
I don't understand how to avoid hardcoded popup ID's. Could someone please explain this to me.
    Thank you
    Bodhy

    Hi,
    thank you. It is working.
    @Timo
The closePopup function in your comment has the variable popupId. That made me wonder, if it is possible to set this variable in my jspx page.
I made a workaround by defining a new variable called popupId with getter and setter methods and using the setActionListener to set that popupId. After that I was calling the closePopup() function. Do you know a better way doing this?
    @Frank
I was also reading through Frank's blog about JavaScript [http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/adf-faces-rich-client-javascript-programming/|http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/adf-faces-rich-client-javascript-programming/] , trying to find a solution to call JavaScript functions with variables (defining these variables in my jsp page). Is this possible?
    Thank you
