Azure Batch - What is the enumeration of OSFamily?

Hi there,
I am looking through the Azure Batch example code:
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/batch-dotnet-get-started/
And I see:
ICloudPool newPool = pm.CreatePool(
PoolName,
osFamily: "3",
vmSize: "small",
targetDedicated: NumOfMachines);
newPool.Commit();
What exactly is the osFamily "3" mean? Would "2" mean something different? Would "4" mean something different?
Thanks!
Brett

Hi Brett
The osFamily specifies the OS that will be used for the pool VM's; e.g. Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2.  It also determines the version of .NET that are present on the VM's.
This is covered in the Batch documentation is the following location (the REST API docs currently contain more information that the .NET docs) -
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn820174.aspx
The osFamily numbering is consistent with that used for Cloud Server Worker Roles and is documented here (contains .NET info) -

  • Can anyone tell me or give me a link to the latest response from Apple regarding very real weak wifi signal on what seems to be a batch of both the new ipad and the earlier Ipad2. I have just bought a 2nd hand ipad2 and it has a very weak wifi signal

Over the last week or so I have been trawling the internet looking for references to weak wifi signals on the Ipad2 and was staggered by the sheer quantity of people who seem to have identical issues, not just with the ipad2 but also with the new ipad. What annoyed me most from reading the reams upon reams of comments made on the Apple community forum is the fairly large number of people who seemed to believe that 'these' people were either just moaners and wingers or else they must have something wrong with their router set-up rather than a serious fault with their ipad and it seems all because there ipad in question works like a dream.
Obviously I can only speak from my experience, and that is, I have an ipad2 32GB with wifi, purchased about 6 months ago and it works like dream with a good 2-3 bar wifi signal through 2 thick stone walls over 30 feet away. My router is a standard one supplied by my broadband supplier compatible with all 'g','b' and 'n' equipment. However, over a week ago now I bought second hand genuine ipad2 16GB with wifi from a close friend who has just purchased a new ipad3 to replace his old ipad2 (had it for over a year so no longer under warranty). When I started it up downstairs from my router, where I always use my other ipad2 which has a very strong wifi signal, I discovered that the new secondhand ipad2 I had purchased couldnt find a network signal at all. So after doing network resets and all other 'fixes' on the device recommended, I took it upstairs to my office where the router is based and found that the device could now locate the network, but the signal was lost over only 12 feet from the router!
I quizzed my good friend about this issue and he informed me that it has always been like this since he first purchased it and he never thought that it was a fault, it was just the way it was. When he first aquired the device he did think at the time that this distance was poor, but thought nothing of it as he didnt have any other ipad to measur ethe signal strength against, and as his router was in his living room anyway he nothing of it. Fair enough.
So, there we have it. One ipad2 with a very good wifi signal and another ipad2  with a very poor wifi signal running off the same router, both with the same IOS 5.0. ?
As well as all of the other isues that customers have picked up on, such as 'death grip' (which I must say does appear to happen, but personally i dont think that this is a serious issue if you are aware of this issue and have a strong signal anyway), my experience seems to be a good  example of a 'duff' wifi ipad versus a 'great' wifi ipad', an issue confirmed by complaints from a fairly large number of customers who have also reported the same or similar weak wifi signals with both the ipad2 and the ipad3. So, as this shows the weak wifi signal is a very real issue it seems on a batch of ipad2 and 3's, which to my logic is obviously a hardware issue on a batch of early ipad2's and not a software one, otherwise all ipad's would suffer this problem! So, is it a faulty antenna or a faukty network card in an early batch?
So, the bottom line now is, of course, firstly,  how can I get Apple to fix my other ipad2 when the warranty has run out? Any suggestions anyone?
Personally I think good Apple customer service should offer a recall with a replacement on this apparent batch of ipads, dont you?

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • What is the field and Table for "Batch Class" and "Class Type" in QM.

    Hi All,
What is the field and Table for "Batch Class" and "Class Type" in QM.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
For batch class the class type value is '023' . This you can find from KLAH table and the fileld for class type is KLART..
And also all the data related to batch class are found in tables INOB, KLAH,KKSK and for the characeteristics of batch materials you can refer AUSP table.
In INOB table, for batch class, you need to give 023 in KLART field and  value MCH1 in OBTAB filed.
Please check this and let me know if this you need any more details?

    Hi,
The dswsbobje web application (war file) is mentioned in SAP IK XI 3.1 install guide to explain how to get the SAP authentication option available in Business Objects products such as Live Office, which use web services to log on to BusinessObjects Enterprise.
The source files for various Business Objects web applications are available in "businessobjects_root\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications\" folder. Refer to "Deploying the web applications using wdeploy" section in SAP IK XI 3.1 install guide to see how to repackage those web apps and deploy them using wdeploy tool.

  • What's the deal with Microsoft Azure?

Alright folks, what's the deal? Is Apple using MS Azure to support/power it's new iCloud? If this is true, what does it mean for Apple's independence and image as an inventive and industry leading company? Or maybe this is something temporary until their new data center is completely functional? I believe in Apple and don't think this "evil gossip" it's true. Please, ilustrate me.
    Thanks in advance!

Apple needs huge server farms to handle the tons of data that the new "icloud" service will generate. So Apple is renting computing power and space.
Does it really matter where that space is located and on what OS those computers are running ? Those computers are only needed as giant hard disks that push the data to your Mac/ipad/ipod .. Who cares from where the bits are coming from ?
Microsoft Windows Azure is a cloud OS, a computer cluster server park. And whoever pays Microsoft a fee may use it. The same is true for Amazons EC2 service, it is powered by Linux  and also every person can rent space and power. Ubuntu Linux uses their "One" cloud service to sync data and music across Ubuntu powered PCs, they have also several backends that keep the users data safe.
    It is called distributed computing.
And btw : Apple and Microsoft are Business Partners. Not "friend and foe". learn Apple's history.

  • What is the Availability check relevant for batches in Std. SAP except CH

    Hi,
What is the Availability check value in material master relevant for batches in standard SAP except CH.
As far as I know CH will enable to have automatic batch determination at sales order level. In the same manner, do we have any other availability check value in standard SAP like CH which will enable batch determination at delivery level.

Don't post the same question repeatedly. Keep one thread open and close the other threads.
You have already posted the same at  Wha is batch relevant availability check value in standard SAP except CH

  • What's the advantage of Sql Azure?

    Hi all;
We assumed that Sql Azure handled clustering, but apparently that feature is in beta (and has been making no progress for a long time). So what's the advantage of Sql Azure over having a VM we install Sql Server on? Because it looks to me like the VM route
is equivalent or better (better because you don't get the occasional delay).
I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, just trying to understand the utility of Sql Azure.

What we did for the last 6 months -
Made the world's coolest reporting & docgen system even more amazing

    Hi;
First off, we've never found Sql Server all that much work. Installs easily and then we're off and running.  I understand people finding create & go a big win, but Sql Server is pretty much that already for us.
Our use case is we are creating a cloud app that we hope to see world-wide use of it. So we want to start located in the US & Europe and use TrafficManager to send apps to the closest server. There are 2 key DB records for all the requests we'll get,
    the customer & the user.
The user will tend to be on one continent (but not always). But the customer can have employees (users) on every continent. And for each request coming through, we need to get that customer record fast. Very very fast.
I'm guessing that 95% (or more) of our DB activity will be selects.
Our hope was you had Sql Azure working so it could be instantiated in each data center we have our cloud service and then each is hitting a local DB. But we need it keeping each in-sync with the other because of that customer record (and the user record
in case of TrafficManager switching who they go to because something went down).
This is the one thing we've never been able to get Sql Server (on our servers) to do - sync between instances. So I understand that this is hard (impossible?). But at the same time, I think many have this same need we have.
    thanks - dave

  • What is the default program to run windows batch files?

I am working on windows 7 and I found that "notepad" was set as the default program for opening my .bat files. when I try to execute the batch file by double clicking, it is opened by notepad.
I have tried setting cmd.exe as the default program, it just opens the command prompt.
What is the default program I should set for executing .bat files?
I hav also tried using assoc .bat = batfile. The batch file runs fine from command prompt.

This is not a scripting question.  It is a break/fix issue.  Contact you support person or Admin for assistance fixing this.
