Back button peculiarities since v.10.6.4

Since the last upgrade I have this weird problem. Not each time but more frequently than not each time I have a page open and switch to another page the previous page button is grayed out.
It has become a major problem and I can't come up with a reason or solution. Any ideas???

My firewire external MY BOOK hard drive will not mount with 10.6.4
I tried every possible combination. OS sees the hard drive, but it will not mount.
I used SuperDuper to go back to 10.6.3. Now everything is OK

I've used JHeadstart 10.1.2 to build a fairly simple UIX based web application. This application is completely a read-only view of some data, layed out as master-detail-detail over a few screens.
As such, I followed the directions in the JHeadstart Dev Guide to disable back-button protection, since my application didn't need to be protected against misuse of the browser back button.
Everything works fine in Firefox... users can query the master screen and drilled into details, and use the browser back button to back out of the details to the master page.
However, IE does not like this at all. It intercepts this back-button use with pages that employ POST form submissions by throwing the following rendering when navigating back up from my app's details pages:

What kind of mods in my UIX/Struts JHeadstart code can I make in order for IE to accept use of the back-button in this scenario?
I realize I can add breadcrumbs to my application, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the users will use this instead of the back button (especially since the users will be public anonymous Internet users -- training is not an issue)?

If you google on "how to prevent Warning: Page has Expired" you will find lots of useful links. You nee dto set your caching policy on the http header. You can do this by overriding JhsActionServlet.process, and register your custom action servlet in web.xml.
You can add calls like this to set caching strategies:
response.addHeader("Cache-Control", "max-age=3600");
response.addHeader("Cache-Control", "private");
Google on "response.setHeader" or reponse.addHeader for more examples.

Well, I rebuilt the entire workbook... that was a few months ago and so far, the problem hasn't resurfaced. It really wasn't fun to do, but whatever glitch there was in the file, I eliminated it.
I think I should mention that I am using Office v.X, NOT Office 2004. I got a new Intel iMac this week and yesterday when I opened up my files, it opened up the test drive (a JOKE of a program if you ask me) Anyway, some of the very minor issues I had with Office v.X were solved in the 2004 version. (When opening up large multi worksheet files without Excel being already opened, the tabs have white text) Anyway, I am still going to wait for the universal version to come out, but it seems that the newer versions may have fewer glitches (as is to be expected)

Since the latest upgrade, my bookmarks have been wiped out, not funtioning nor is my back button or History function working. There was a message after following links provided that said this couldn't be fixed. Seems incredible.

I don't know what the update was called. I always trust them. Yet after I opened Firefox, I could not use my bookmarks since they were gone. The back button nor the History feature no longer works either. I followed the prompts and the diagnostic said there wasn't anything that could be done with this version.
I am not a computer wiz. This kind of diagnostic/troubleshooting gives me the willies. If I can remove firefox and then reinstall with another version. I don't mind building up my HUGE data base of bookmarks again. Yet if there is no way to have bookmarks for my Master's research, then I must switch browsers.

Thanks Tony for your link. Unfortunately I do not have the capacity to deal with the greek that page reads to me. Is there any way someone out there can walk me step by step on how to even start? I have no idea where any of those files can be found or what is required once I get there.
There must be a place for luddites like me to get help? Do I go to an apple store? Hire a techie? Why should I have to fork out money to work a free browser. I do have an extensive library of bookmarks with all the internet research I have done, and would consider paying someone to help me restore this. sqlite file.
I am really upset that Firefox doesn't supply an operator to help folks like me since this problem developed with their stinking upgrade. How can I trust future upgrades from now on? Who would a contact person be that I could share how absolutely frustrating and unfair this experiment is for the less technical population. I think there must be more people like me that this happened to and they probably just switched browsers.
FIREFOX, your mission states you want to be user friendly and of service to the people, that your a non-profit organization here to help navigate the web. Your upgrade has just diminished the quality of that experience by more than half of my previous effectiveness. PLEASE help me resolve this problem beyond just sending me to a page in your lexicon of solutions. I go to the chat room and it's been closed every time. I would like an email address of a customer service rep. but haven't found that either.

Since updating to 3.6.15 today, back button no longer works and FF doesn't remember URLs. Not just that memory of previous URLs got wiped out, it still doesn't remember the ones I've typed in since I updated. And No back button, it's really hard to use.
I went thru all the settings and could not find a way to fix this problem. What is up? I've never had this happen in any version of IE, FF, or Chrome.
Can I get back previous version? Until then, it's Chrome and IE for me.
I'll be happy to delete any plug-ins if it will make this problem go away.

Thanks. This didn't solve te problem but it seemed to have solved itself. all of a sudden it started working properly, without me even closing FF and starting it up again. Thanks Cor-el, if it happens again I'll try your solution.

I received an apple update yesterday and since then my back button on the upper left of screen does not work. How can it be fixed.

Since I've updated from iOS 5 to iOS 6 I am unable to use the next/back buttons from Headphone for audio book chapters.
This is working fine for albums but are broken for audio books.
The back button refers always to the first chapter of the audio book (very annoying if you are in the middle of an audio book) and the nex button goes one level higher back to the selection of the audio book itself.
In iOS 5.0 it was still possible to navigate throught the audio book chapters using these buttons.
This still happens in iOS 6.1.
Is this a known bug?
Does any solution exist?

To gdgmacguy your a f****** idiot for one I'm having the same problem as pennymar. And you tell me to quit whinning. You got more problems then the iOS 6 you did not answer my question nor the other 13 or whatever you replied to within a 30 min time frame. You must got nothing better to do then to harass people and to pretend you know something about apple products. Which you don't from what I've read the other advices you should have gave to other people. But you didn't you replied a question back to the people asking a question. So if your not gonna use these community forums the right way don't use them at all.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

How do I make the refresh, and back buttons work? Since I upgraded to FF 5 they no longer work. Also the roboform bar has to be opened everytime. It's not automatich anymore. Thanks!

My refresh button doesn't work. Back Button doesn't work. They only work on the very first FF page that is opened. Any that I open from then on, those buttons don't work. The roboform bar isn't opened either. I have to open it every time.

I would also like to add that none of the emails I send are going anywhere. So there's that.

Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?

Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button?

In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

Back button no longer works in either ver 4 or 5 !!!! help

the back button does not respond since I uploaded ver 4 of fire fox....I found no help with issue, but then saw ver 5 was avail for download. Currently running ver 5....and the back button on the browser still does not work. I am also using tuneup utillities 2011 now and that is the only change I have made at about the same time I had loaded firefox ver 4...can anyone help me troubleshoot as this issue really makes me just not use the internet anymore

Back button in Photoshop's CS4 and CS5 Save as dialog is grayed

Whenever I open several photos and save them after job is done I have to manually locate save folder. Photoshop always opens default folder where picture is originally located, and doesn't offer back button where I saved last photo.
This is very frustrating, because when I open several photos from different locations I want to save them on same new location. Back button is always greyed, and recent places often doesn't serve the purpose because sometimes all subdirectories have the same filename-PHOTOS, so in recent places I have 5 places with same name.
I have this problem since CS4. This was major problem for me and I sticked to CS3. I thought it was 10.5.x problem. Later I upgraded to CS5, but problem remained. I uninstall it, upgrade to 10.6.3 SL, and reinstall CS5 but still no changes. I would really like to uninstal CS3, but cant afford to loose this functionality.
Anyone had the same problem? I tried to google it, but couldn't find anything.

Well basically it does change things, but this is still not functionality as in CS3. Back button is still gray, and save as opens last save position. It does help, because I don't have to scrub trough recent places, but in CS3 I could go back as far as I want. Like in web browsing, back is meant to be for getting back. Back, back, back. In fact, only time I can press back button is when I am browsing trough folders searching for new save position. When I press save, back is always gray and totally useless. Is like this to everyone? Did maybe Adobe loose that functionality?
I tried now to compare functionality from both, and CS3 even remembers position from last photo I saved minutes ago in CS5?!
My English is not so good, so I hope I am explaining clearly enough.

How to avoid focus issue while navigating via Browser Back button

I'm facing some problem in setting focus on Buttons.

In this application, i have 2 pages.
Page#2 has Submit button
Page#3 has Cancel button
Both buttons are HTML based and can be accessed using access Key ALT + s and ALT + c.
The problem is:
When i go back to previous page (pgid#2) of the application using IE Browser's Back Button from pgid#3,
because of onFocus event set in Submit button, control comes back to pgid#3.
Is there any possible way to set the focus to other items. so that whenever IE brower back button pressed, application would remain in
page#2.
Approaches i took:
If we use onclick, instead of onfocus then again the problem remains since we have to have onfocus = "this.click();" to incorporate Accesskey features.
Another way is onKeyup event. if we use onKeyup, we can avoid this browser back issue, but vanishes access key features.
Any pointers on this would be of great help.

Back button on a PDF to go back to my iPad App

I created a responsive project in CP8 used phonegap to package it as an app and have some problems.
one is that I have many PDF files that are opened locally (in the calles folder). Opening them is not an issue. The problem is when I need to navigate back to the app. It appears there is no way of actually closing the pdf file without also closing the app and since the iPad does not have a back button its becoming an issue. Does anyone know how I can back to the app from the PDF document?
Second it appears that the responsiveness of the project ends when it is packaged into an app. Since the iPad does not open a browser all adaptability is lost and the project sits on the top of the iPad screen and the bottom 20% of the screen is blank.
I managed to move the project to the center of the screen by adding
document.body.innerHTML = " <div class='cpMainContainer' id='cpDocument' style='left: 0px; top:80px;' >
This also moves the TOC expander icons but the actual TOC still opens from the top left corner which I already know Apple is not going to approve.
Does anyone know how to fix either or both issues
