Background ALV download 256 Char columns

Hi,
I am using OO ABAP in my ALV.When I run my report in background it is truncating columns while downloading .How can we achieve full download?

Hi,
The printer settings dont allow you to print more than 255 characters in background mode.
But you can try with these options :
1).I have created a new page fomat accomodate more than 255 chars
2. Change the linesie of report to 700 and while assigning fieldcat like this
IS_LAYOUT-MIN_LINESIZE = 700

ALV Download to Excel Column Colors Problem

Hi Experts,
I've encountered a problem in downloading records from ALV display to excel file.
The file is downloaded SUCESSFULLY however. When I opened the downloaded file, some columns were filled up with color(yellow) and other fields are not.
Do anyone have an idea why?

I have 21 Columns columns. The first 16 columns are filled with yellow colors...

ALV / Download to Excel - columns transposed

A developer on my team has this problem:
We have a ALV report that gives the user the option to download to excel.
The report has columns.
A,B,C,D (for example)
but when the user exports to excel ("List > Export > Spreadsheet > Table")
they get
A, <b>C, B</b>, D
Dose anyone know why this happens? We have checked various sites and found OSS note 358644.
Are we on the right track? Or is there an easy answer to this.

I too faced the same problem lon back. But what we
found is for currency, date and amount fields it is
moving to last.
You also checl the standard program BCALV_GRID_01.
If you download you can see the same thing happens
here also.
Check in your case whether B is date, amout or numeric field.

ALV List only 80 Columns when runinning as background job

Hello Guys,
I have a Problem with an ALV List.
We use the FM REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY for a Document Journal.
When I run it in foreground it works fine. But when I view the spool in background the list makes a break at excactly 80 signs, but the line size should be about 120.
In the report the Line-Size is set correctly, even the print parameters seem to be ok. We are running it with X_65_255.
I saw that there are some SAP Notes to this topic, but on our release (SAP_BASIS 700) the notes are already implemented.
Has anyone a solution to this topic?

ALV download to Excel onto desktop using OLE concept.

I requriement is , through my se38 program i need to download report output to excel.
i did this using OLE concepts code and excel is being downloaded good.
But problem is all columns data is dumped into First column. But in my ALV i have 20 columns. So i except data in excel sheet to be in 20 columns.

we have implemnted this logic and it is workign fine. Bit it takes long time to download data in Excel sheet. Actually it is happening feild by field.

ALV download to excel inquiry

Hi,
I have a problem with regards to the ALV download to excel. I have an ALV grid with 40 columns and i need to download the output to an excel file. But after downloading the ALV output, i noticed that some columns are already on the next line. i need to have all columns to be in the same line. Does anyone have an idea how to prevent columns to be printed in the next line?

ALV Download to Excel

Hi Experts,
Currently in my custom program I have an issue regarding downloading ALV to excel file where one of the fields in the report will output more than 400 characters which is in Chinese characters and this field already type to string. The problem is when i download it to excel only the 301 characters is only downloaded to the file.
Addtnl information:
The data in the output internal table is complete before going through the FM REUSE_ALV_GRID but when i tried to debug when downloading before it reaches to the GUI_DOWNLOAD it already has incomplete data so this means that this is not a problem for GUI_DOWNLOAD.
Question:
Is the problem a SAP ALV download limitation?
Is there an available solution for this?

First try to scroll down till the last page, then select all the column manually by putting curser and copy.
This will solve your issue. i usually do in ths way

Little problem ALV - Download to Excel

Hi Friends !
I have a little problem, when the user download the data which are in ALV, the positions of columns change .
Example:
In ALV.
1 - Column A
2 - Column B
3 - Column C
In Excel
1 - Column B
2 - Column A
3 - Column C

This sounds pretty weird. Are they just running ALV and then they do a download on the ALV screen using the Excel icon? Are they running it with some type of Excel template? Is it using a special layout - if so are they sure they saved the layout before they download? Never heard of or saw this one before. Also are you the Cesar I worked with a few years ago in Memphis? Just wondering - don't think this will help much but let me know.

Inserting blanks into a NOT NULL CHAR column

How do you insert a value of blank/spaces into a NOT NULL CHAR column. Oracle 9i interprets the space as a NULL and the insert fails because the column does not allow NULLS. Thanks in advance.

ALV Download to excel truncating fields

Hi,
When I use the ALV download button to download to excel, it is truncating the last character of customer number.
ie customer 20011790 is showing as 2001179.
Any ideas how to fix this.

One field Value in ALV is like u2018-abcdeu2026u2019.the character u201C-u201Cis the first position in field value.when I download the value to EXCEL,the field value u2018-abcdeu2026u2019 changed u2018=-abcdeu2026u2019 in EXCEL.how can I remove u2018=u2019 in EXCEL when I down to excel used ALV.
I add a space in u2018 -abcdeu2026u2019,So this value can be download to Excel .
Have you any solve method?
User does not use excel logo button to download.

add a single quote to the beginning of the field.
like: '-abcde
in excel it will be shown as : -abcde

ORA-01401 error on char column with oracle oci driver

We found a potential bug in the kodo.jdbc.sql.OracleDictionary class
shipped as source with Kodo:
In newer Kodo versions (at least in 3.3.4), the method
public void setString (PreparedStatement stmnt, int idx, String
val, Column col)
has the following code block:
// call setFixedCHAR for fixed width character columns to get padding
// semantics
if (col != null && col.getType () == Types.CHAR
&& val != null && val.length () != col.getSize ())
((OraclePreparedStatement) inner).setFixedCHAR (idx, val);
This block seems to be intended for select statements but is called on
inserts/updates also. The latter causes a known problem with the Oracle
oci driver when settings CHAR columns as FixedCHAR, which reports an
ORA-01401 error (inserted value too large for column) when definitely no
column is too long. This does not happen with the thin driver.
We reproduced this with 8.1.7 and 9.2.0 drivers.
For us we solved the problem by subclassing OracleDictionary and removing
the new code block.

Querying CHAR columns with character length semantics unreliable

Hi again,
It appears that there is a bug in the JDBC drivers whereby it is highly unlikely that the values of CHAR columns that use character length semantics can be accurately queried using ResultSet.getString(). Instead, the drivers return the value padded with space (0x#20) characters out to a number of bytes equal to the number of characters multiplied by 4. The number of bytes varies depending on the number and size of any non-ascii characters stored in the column.
For instance, if I have a CHAR(1) column, a value of 'a' will return 'a ' (4 characters/bytes are returned), a value of '\u00E0' will return '\u00E0 ' (3 characters / 4 bytes), and a value of '\uE000' will return '\uE000 ' (2 characters / 4 bytes).
I'm currently using version 9.2.0.3 of the standalone drivers (ojdbc.jar) with JDK 1.4.1_04 on Redhat Linux 9, connecting to Oracle 9.2.0.2.0 running on Solaris.
The following sample code can be used to demonstrate the problem (where the DDL at the top of the file must be executed first):

Data Service - only returning 256 chars on text field

Using FlashBuilder Data Services - PHP service all working fine.
Except the service is only returning the first 256 chars of a "text" field of my db table.
The field has more than 256 chars and is marked up via the RTE component

Why the ALV download Excel can't show all field title?

Dear All
         I have a problem for ALV download to Excel
Example: the field title description has 11 len bits when I download Excel then the field title is u2018descriptiou2019 only 10 len bits. I found when the field value is more then 11 then can show all,if the field value less than 11 then download Excel only show 10.
The description has 40 bits.if itu2019s value less 40 then ALV CONDENSE the space .
I removed this code: GT_LAYOUT-COLWIDTH_OPTIMIZE = 'X'.but problem is also exits.
How can I do ?
