Background image blew my flash file

Hi Guys,
hope someone could help me this time, i just have this question about my background image blowing up the size of my swf file. i have a 1000x600 canvas which has the same bg image, and when i publish it, my swf file has a size of 468kb, but when i remove the background image the file was reduced to 57kb.. the image was a png-24 326kb image, and its not the file in my flash that has this file size. just wondering wut happened that it gives that huge adjustment to the file?

Recommendations:
1) I believe the setInterval activity is what ends up breaking things.  Get rid of all the setInterval and clearInterval elements.  Just use setTimeout instead, which you won't have to worry about clearing.
2) The file performance is likely suffering due to the size of the images versus the portions of them that actually get used.  Create/crop the images outside of Flash to the size they will be in the Flash file, optimize them, and then import them.  Also, if you combine all the elements that you animate at once together into one symbol (the text, background, and button), and animate that symbol instead of the different pieces separately, things will probably animate more smoothly as well.

  • How do I set this up.. a background image in a flash drive as its opened

Hi.. For a birthday present I want to give my friend 2 tracks and a folder..
I want the background to be an image and the 2 files and the one folder to line up as shown in the pic attached..
I have managed to make the flashdrive be an custom icon and so the files and a folder with pictures.
When I go finder --> View --> show view options I get the small window
I then copy the image I want as background into the small background window, then it appears as shown..
I align the folders as shown
then I select the windows "always open in icon view" and "browse in icon view"
then I choose "use as defaults"
so i get what i want: see picture a :
I then eject properly and when I insert the drive back in.. the icons remain but I get picture b:
What am I doing wrong?? Any ideas how to accomplish this? (so that picture a appears when the flash drive is inserted at any time?)
    Thank YOU!

oops sorry accidenatlly typed solved.. I will try that option
and no its not for my gf LOL

  • Spry Sliding Panel bugs with Flash SWF, iFrames, CSS background images

    Greetings,
I'm working on a site right now that is build with Spry 1.6
Sliding Panels. On the home panel I have integrated a looping SWF,
and scrolling iFrames on the Overview panel. After extensive
research on these forums, I'm still scratching my head at a few
    bugs listed below:
    • Firefox (MAC v2.0.0.14)
    - The SWF on the home panel doesn't hide properly when
sliding to a different panel. I have set 'wmode opaque' parameters
to the flash file, but this seems to have not resolved the issue.
    - Additionally, I've noticed that sometimes the SWF will not
finish sliding into the correct position when clicking to the home
panel (the SWF will stop sliding several pixels left of the
    original positioning).
    - The SWF (which happens to be a loop animation) resets every
time the home panel is visited. In my testing, this does not happen
    in any other browser.
    - On the Overview panel, scrolling iFrames are used on the
"Staff Profiles". These iFrames don't hide properly when clicking
through other panels, as the scroll bars are still viewable.
    - Overall, the sliding animation is a bit choppy compared to
all other browsers. I can live with this, but I wonder if I have
    improper code somewhere?
    • Opera (MAC v9.27)
    - Same issue as above concerning the fact that the SWF
appears outside of the sliding panel view port.
    • IE 6
    - CSS background images flash during the sliding panel
    animation.

  • How do I save stock footage as flash file with transparent background?

    Hi
I have some stock footage of smoke on a black background (.mov format) that I would like to convert to a flash file with a transparent background, which I will be overlaying over a PNG image on a webpage.
I have managed to remove the black background in After Effects using a plugin called UnMult, but when I try to render as a FLV file in AE, even though I check the option to preserve the alpha channel and encode using the On2 VP6 codec, I still get a black background.
So I am wondering what else to try, whether it be with AE or Flash CS4.  Is there a way of achieving this effect by directly importing the MOV file into Flash CS4 and removing the black background there, or do I have to use AE, and if so, how to achieve the effect I am looking for?
I would be grateful for any help in getting this together
    Thanks
    Nick

You can put the video file in a movie clip and change it's

  • Can you use a swf file like a background image

The header has a css background image and the spry menu bar
lays over it. Is it possible to attach a swf file as the background
image in css or even in html?
Maybe as a background-attachment somehow? Or simply in the
    html code?
I am using CS4 but I believe the website was created with
    CS2.

I don't know anyone, that knows what they are doing, that uses flash for websites anymore
There are a few holdover gaming sites that still use it, but even those guys are making the move to JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
    @bretC,
There are far too many people using mobile & tablet devices that don't support Flash (iOS, Android, Blackberry, etc...)  It's not good business to ignore those people.
In terms of alternative technologies, look at HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript animations made with Edge Animate.  These are well supported on all modern devices.  Edge Animate is part of the Creative Cloud plan.  Products | Edge Animate | Adobe TV

  • Setting a background image w/ Flash

    Hello -
Is there a way to set up a background image (repeating or non-repeating) that the stage area floats over.
When I use file > publish settings > HTML > publish - It creates the HTML document but any area outside the stage is colored with the default stage color- Can this be set up in Flash or changed in HTML ???

Yes you can but flash does not add background image for you. It only generates the HTML file with the object-embedding script. Then you will need to add the HTML script to add the background. Also you will need to set the SWF object as transparent so that it will "hover" over the HTML file. Do that by setting the wmode property of the embedding code which looks like this: http://www.pastie.org/822998. Or set the Window Mode under HTML tab of Publish settings to "Transparent Windowless".

  • How to put flash as a table or cell background or put HTML elements on top of flash file?

    Hi Guys,
Could anyone please suggest me that how to put flash file as a table or cell background. I want to design a website and want to put HTML elements like table, images, text on top of flash file. so its look like animation in background. please visit following websites for an example: http://www.gagudju-dreaming.com/ and http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/
Please guide me ASAP, thanks a lot in advance.
    Nitz.

    Hi Nitz
The first thing you must do is convert your layout from table based to css based, (tables are o/k for tabular data, but not layout) but if you have never used css for layout it may be a steep learning curve.
My recommendation is to start with the following tutorial on converting a table based comp to a css layout -
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_fw_css_pt1.html
More info on using css is available here - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/css.html.
Once you have converted your site the 'procedure' for using swf's as a background, (does not work well with flv's, but can be done using html5 video without a skin, to a limited extent) is the same as having a background-image resize automatically to the full browser view-port. The best way to learn how to do this is to view the code on a page using the background-image technique, view the code on this page - http://www.pziecina.com/indexold.php.
However, instead of having a fluid layout I would recommend using a fixed layout size to start with, as this overcomes many problems. I have uploaded a basic test page to illustrate the idea to - http://www.pziecina.com/test_ideas/swfbg_test.html. As I said the page must be resized in this example in order to see the effect, (so do not forget to resize the browser, even if it is only by 1px), but if you use a fixed size layout and your swf's size fits the desired area correctly the resize should not be required.

  • Need help: enter flash file in Dreamweaver site with dark background

    Hi,
I've entered a SWF in a dreamweaver site with a dark blue
background. When you view the site in a browser there is a white
square (the size of the flash file) that flashes up for a second
before the file starts loading. This is rather ugly and I was
wondering if anyone knew how to avoid this white square from
    flashing up.
I already tried making the table background dark blue and
adding a dark blue square as a background image, but that has not
    made any difference.
If you'd like to see what it does, this is a link to one of
    the pages: www.billmather.co.uk/portraits.htm
Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give me!

    Hi Horus,
Thank you for getting back to me. I found it, and tried it.
But still does not seem to make a difference. This is what the code
    in dreamweaver now looks like:

    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="850"
    height="660"></embed>
    </object>
Did I enter it correctly? (I also tried it as <param
name="bgcolor" value="#000033"> but that did not work either) Or
do we still need to find another solution?
Thanks ever so much for all your suggestions and ideas. I
    truly appreciate it.

    Hi
I'm using Xcelsius version 4.5. I used the "Image Component" to import a child flash file(.swf) into the parent flash file.
I gave the path "D:\246024\Loblaw\Dashboard Docs\New Folder\trend input.swf" in the general tab of the image component.
After exporting the .xlf into a flash file , it works fine in the system in which i created it. If i open the same flash file in any other system the parent file opens but the child flash file imported through the image component is not displayed.
Please help me out in solving this issue
    Thanks

yes, you will face the same problem as its still looking for the path of the swf.
you need to have the SWF on specific location which is accessable by the Parent SWF
usually web page or something which is accessable for all.

I figured this was the problem. And to the OP, I'm glad a bitmap worked, but no I didn't mean use any sort of LabVIEW programming at all. I meant open your image in Microsoft Paint, Press ctrl+A to select the whole thing. Then copy the image to the clipboard. Now select your front panel and press ctrl + v to paste it. No programming needed and the image is there. However, if you want to programmatically change it, you will need a picture control.
