Background music mutes when adding voiceover

Im new to audition 3 and when adding a voice clip over background music the voice over mutes the background music completely rather than murging. Is there a setting or tool I missed to correct this?

Things have moved on quite a bit since 1.5.
Audition 3 MV doesn't work in the same way as 1.5 did - simply because the crossfade system is in place on tracks now, and that simply wouldn't work if clips set their own levels.
What you do is to leave the voice on one track and the music on the other, and use the mixer or automation to achieve the effect you want, and mix down the results. And in fairness, that's the way you should be working anyway - you lose a lot of control of the results if you put everything on one track.

  • My iMac plays background music even when I am watching a movie on Netflix, how do I turn this music off?

    My iMac plays background music when I am using Safari.  Right now, as I am typing this message, it is playing background music.  When I am watching a movie on Netflix, it plays background music which interferes with the movie.  How do I turn this off?

    So pause iTunes or whatever application you are using for background music, before starting the movie.

  • "Add a copy of this File to iTunes music folder when adding to library" ???

    why on earth is this feature a feature???
    now that i finally realized what i have been doing all this time... i see that i have 1000's of dupes eating up HD space.
    obviously when i add a song to my library - i want it in the folder i have chosen to be my iTunes music folder -- d'uh!!!
    that is precisely where i added the songs to!
    so can someone help me understand why i did this?
    what need did i have to click this preference?
    i know i made this choice...
    what i want to know is if there is a reason to click it that i am missing the boat on?
    thanks

    hi nysepete,
    why on earth is this feature a feature???
    this feature is for copying files into the iTunes music folder when you are dragging/openning files into your library.
    let's say you have a song file on your desktop that you just downloaded from Internet. if you double click on it or simply drag it into the iTunes windows, iTunes will automatically copy this file into your music folder. then, you can delete the file on your desktop since a copy have been made and referenced by iTunes.
    if however this option isn't activated, the iTunes library will instead referenced the files in it's current location, i.e. in this exemple on your desktop.
    personally, I keep the option checked so when I need to add files to the library, I know the will be managed by iTunes and then simply send the original to the trash. unchecking this option is mostly for people that want to manage files themselves outside the iTunes Music folder.

  • No Content of music, even when added in?

    I autofilled my music to my iPhone but it didnt show any content of the music i put in, and if i want to put it in again it would say the music i'm adding has already been added to my iPhone. What should i do? Pls help!!

    I would try to resync the information.  First try unchecking "sync music" and apply changes, and then recheck "sync music" and apply changes.

  • Music mutes when changing to another app

    Hey everyone! Like many of us, I'm used to listen my music while working. But lately, when I'm working with after effects or premiere and for some reason I need to change to another application, no matter what it is, the music suddenly mutes, until I come back to AE or PR, specially with AE. The only way I've been able to fix it is by changing the output from headphones to USB - Display, in system preferences and then back to headphones. But then again if I change apps, it does the same thing. Please help.
    I'm using
    Adobe CC 2014 Latest updates
    Mac Pro - Late 2013
    OSX Yosemite
    3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
    64 GB
    AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

    The Music app should continue to play in other apps unless those apps need sound such as games. You should be able to surf the Internet and continue to play music in the background, but any other apps that rely on sounds will cause the music to quit playing.

  • Why does my footer background colour change when adding a float to a DIV element?

    Bear with me as I am a student learning dreamweaver....
    I am trying to insert a series of 4 DIVs into a footer area with a black background. WHen I insert a float to constrain them to a horizontal position, the black background disappears and the body background shows through. A strip of the footer displays on top of the area where the DIVs are placed. The float works but the problem is with the background colour. It's almost as if the divs have been pushed down below the footer area. I have tried placing my cursor in several locations before inserting the float but it doesn't change anything.
    Can anyone help?

    It all depends on the code you're working with.   In the following example, I applied overflow:hidden to the <footer> element.
    Copy & paste this code into a new, blank HTML page to see how it works.

  • Music splits when adding photo and video clip

    Every time I add a new photo or video clip it makes the music split, so there is a gap in music from the beginning of the clip to the end. I can pull the music back, but that is getting aggravating. Is it the setting I have it on?

    There's a grey horizontal line near the middle of each track. When you drag a new item from the browser into the timeline, it appears with a black arrow. As you drag, when the cursor is above the grey horizontal line, the black arrow points right, meaning you're performing an "insert" edit, which moves everything else to the right in the timeline. If the cursor is below the grey line, the black arrow points down, meaning you're performing an "overwrite" edit, which should leave your audio tracks in place.

  • Problems with 'background' JFrame focus when adding a modal JDialog

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to add a modal JDialog to my JFrame (to be used for data entry), although I'm having issues with the JFrame 'focus'. Basically, at the moment my program launches the JFrame and JDialog (on program load) fine. But then - if I switch to another program (say, my browser) and then I try switching back to my program, it only shows the JDialog and the main JFrame is nowhere to be seen.
    In many ways the functionality I'm looking for is that of Notepad: when you open the Find/Replace box (albeit it isn't modal), you can switch to another program, and then when you switch back to Notepad both the main frame and 'JDialog'-esque box is still showing.
    I've been trying to get this to work for a couple of hours but can't seem to. The closest I have got is to add a WindowFocusListener to my JDialog and I hide it via setVisible(false) once windowLostFocus() is fired (then my plan was to implement a similar functionality in my JFrame class - albeit with windowGainedFocus - to show the JDialog again, i.e. once the user switches back to the program). Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work; I can't seem to get any window or window focus listeners to actually fire any methods, in fact?
    I hope that kind of makes sense lol. In short I'm looking for Notepad CTRL+R esque functionality, albeit with a modal box. As for a 'short' code listing:

    Hi,
    Many thanks for the reply. Isn't that what I'm doing with the super() call though?
    As in, in Main.java I'm doing:
    setupProjectDialog = new SetupProject( frame, "Create Your Website Project", true );Then the constructor in SetupProject is:
    public SetupProject( final JFrame frame, String title, boolean modal ) {
              // Setup the JDialog
              super( frame, title, modal );
              And isn't the super call (since the class extends JDialog) essentially like doing new JDialog(frame,title,modal)?
    If not, that would make sense due to the null pointer exception errors I've been getting. Although I did think I'd done it right hence am confused as to the right way to handle this,if so.
    Thanks,
    Tristan

  • Trouble with music folder - when trying to add music to itunes library.

    Ever since I updated itunes recently, I have been having difficulty adding music from my music file. When I go to File/Add File to Library it brings me to the default storage location, even though I have gone to Edit/Preferences/Advanced and changed my music folder to what I want to have come up when I go to add a song. My music folder has always been the same, but for some reason, it has all of a sudden decided to change to the default music folder, where my music isn't kept, and I can't seem to change it back. Is anyone having this issue as well? Please help!

    chris CA,
    I think you missed the question that "fillibrownis" raised (btw, I am seeing the same problem and it is quite frustrating).
    The problem is that when we select File/Add File to Library, it throws up a box which displays the windows default music location (which is "My Music" on Windows XP). In previous versions, iTunes used to show the iTunes Music Location, as specified in (Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General). The benefit for such a thing was that user could directly copy music from external sources to the iTunes Music Location (without using the "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library).

  • Converting slideshow from iphoto with itune playlist as background music

    I have created a slideshow in iphoto with an itune playlist as the background music and when I convert it throught quicktime into a movie it only plays the first song from the playlist. All photos look good in the slide. This problem has started since I upgraded to quicktime 7.4. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have created slideshows with music before and converted them through quicktime with no trouble. I can't figure this one out?? Thank you

    David,
    I am sorry! I thought I was giving a solved to both of you. I was just playing around with fotomagico tonight. I love it...for $49. I know I have alot of posts and should be familiar with the solved thing. But most of my posts involve when I first started with Macs three years ago. I should have been more carefull. Non-the-less you were considerate enough to take your time out to help me. Much appreciated!
    Some people on this FCP site are very critical of newbies often criticizing rather than helping. I rarely post here because of that.
    I am a old time photographer (still have my darkroon stuff) who wants to get into a bit more of the film thing. Hence FCP. But what a learning curve! Mind you it is easier than Photoshop! (Now that's a learning curve coming from a film/darkroom guy).
    Thanks again.

  • In imovie 11 when adding background music it always goes to any open spot where I want to keep recorded sound only how can I designate where background music starts without having to drag to where it should start. any help out there thanks

    How to add background music to a specific point in imovie 11 it now just goes to any open spot that has origional sound I want to keep I then have to drag it to where I want it located am I missing something  need some help Please.

    Drag it from the Music Browser to the frame of video where you want it to start and drop it there. It will appear as a colored ribbon beneath the video clips, rather than as a colored background.

  • Is there a way to mute the background music in a slideshow so the audio of an included video can be heard?

    I am running iPhoto 11 version 9.4.2 (710.42) on a MacBook Pro.  Some of the slide shows I have developed have videos included along with photos.  I have added background music to these slide shows with the sideshow music selector.  The videos have audio that I want the viewer to hear, however the background music continues to play and the video audio is hard to hear, and when there is music in the audio of the video, the two musical pieces tend to clash. Is there a way to mute the background music so the audio of the video can be clearly heard?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    That's called 'ducking' and no, not with iPhoto. You need something with more control of the soundtrack.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie, on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price: PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
    FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
    It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • Background music continues to play when app exited

    I just had a review of one of my apps from amazon on the kindle fire and the result came back saying:
    Upon completion of our compatibility test processes, your app was found to be unresponsive when subjected to testing. To be compatible with Kindle Fire, the app’s core features must be responsive to user commands, and its primary functionality accessible and compliant with device specifications. Currently, the background music of the app continues to play even when the app has been exited.
    to get my background music to loop I use this code
    import flash.media.SoundMixer
    var musicplayed:int = 0;
    var MusicPlayer:Sound = new Music();
    var songChannel:SoundChannel;
    songChannel = MusicPlayer.play();
    function loopMusic(event:Event)
      songChannel = MusicPlayer.play();
              songChannel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, loopMusic);
    any idea whats wrong? It doesn't have this issue on iOS

    Hi, I'm developing an app for android, and added the event handlers for Deactivate and Activate to turn the music off or on. It is working if I press the home button but if I set the device on sleep (idle) and then turn it on, the Activate Event is triggered in the unlock screen. So the music starts on the unlock screen, this is very frustrating because I just had an app rejected on Samsung Apps Store because of this issue .
    <Defect>
    The application reproduces sound in the unlock screen.
    <Procedure>
    1 Start the app
    2 Lock the device
    3 Press the device's hold button without fully sliding to unlock
    4 Notice that the application's audio is playing
    <Expected Result>
    The application should not reproduce sound untill after the device is fully unlocked.
    Anyone here that knows a workaround for this problem?

  • I added background music to the video clip, but I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the background music audio

    I added background music to the video clip in iMovie, the playback runs ok on the right corner preview screen, if I share it to movie clip or itunes or theather, I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the music audio
    If I don't put additional audio to the clip. audio effect or music background, the video plays normally
    I detached the audio from the video clip and deleted it, that way it was possible to listen to the music background and see the actual video clip, but no audio from the video clip.
    How can I have both?

    Hi
    My first thought is -
    Where are the original Audio file ?
    If it was on an Audio-CD then the CD is Ejected and one tries to play the movie - it can not find it = Silence.
    You are using an Non-Destructive Video editor - meaning that You have raw material - Video, Audio and photos but no Movie in Project - only a text document directing How You want it to be played. So if Audio is not where it was when this document were created - iMovie can not find it and e.g. audio goes silent.
    Yours thinking - Bengt W

  • Difference - Background music AND an audio music track added to a clip ?

    Working on a iMovie 08 project, just curious, what's the difference between:
    A. A soundtrack dragged from Media Browser/iTunes and dropped to the background canvas (project viewer) of a movie (resulting in a green/purple background) AND
    B. The same soundtrack added to the movie clips (as an audio track)?
    I see that in both cases I can have the music start at a particular point of video. I can "pin" the audio to a particular place in the video (in the case of background music track) or simply move the horizontal audio track icon to any point of a movie clip (in the case of music being added as an audio track). So just curious if there are other considerations to this?
    Is there an advantage of one over the other?
    When exporting to iDVD are there any performance considerations/differences between the two?
    Thanks for the help in advance!

    Is the clip held in finder, iTunes, or in the iMovie/iLife clips section?
