Hi...I am slowly working on the following site, however, I
can not see the backgrounds on ANY of the sub pages in IE. I can
see it fine with FireFox. Bleh. Please click the buttons for the
sub pages and you will see the main header images is not there.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

See Alan's earlier response -

  • Browser background not showing up on ipad or iphone

    I have published a site and the browser background (which is an important part of my design) does not show up on my ipad or iphone when I visit the sight. I have published several websites from iweb and their browser backgrounds show up on my ipad and iphone. Have they changed the software or am I doing something wrong?

    Your link, bluecollarmedia.com. does not work.  Neither does www.bluecollarmedia.com.  Go to your site and copy the URL from the browser's URL field and paste it in a new reply for us.

  • Browser background not showing up

    I FINALLY got my website (www.unyquefiretrucks.com) to load but now the browser background does not appear!!! It showed up ok when I had published to MobileMe originally.
    The homepage has a diamond plate (aluminum) browser background and crosspieces on the homepage itself to divide the sections (you can see the outline of the cross pieces but they don't show up) while the rest of the pages use a background with the maltese cross (fire dept. emblem) as the broswer background (no page background used). On my 9/11 memorial pages, I used a design as the page background with a color as the browser background & that appears fine. With that in mind I am confused as to why the homepage is not showing up properly...I used a web safe color for the page background & the diamond plate (tile) for the browser background. I should mention that the homepage is 875 px wide while the rest of the pages are 980 px wide...don't think this should be an issue because it appeared ok on MobileMe but who knows...that's why I'm on these forums!!
    HELP!!!! I finally got this thing to load properly so I need to get this last little tweak taken care of. If you want/need to see what the site looks like normally, the unoptimized version is still accessible at
    http://web.me.com/firescueguy/UNYQUEFIRETRUCKS/uNYquefiretrucks_home.html
    Should I just add the maltese cross as the page background with a web safe color for the browser background on the bulk of my pages? Still not quite sure how that will affect the homepage with the diamond plate not showing up. BTW, eliminating the diamond plate on the homepage is NOT an option, that makes the entire page IMHO.
    Thanks in advance for the help, these forums have been a good source of info for me. Thanks, Tom

    Old Toad, thanks for the reply...FYI, I used an optimization program called HTML Optimizer Plus that FTP's my site to the server (actually much quicker than CyberDuck IMO). While I have a 1-to-1 set up for tomorrow, I would like to pick your brain as you seem to be pretty knowledgeable judging by your numerous posts. Exactly how would I load those background .gif files? They are currently in a folder on my desktop with various backgrounds. Oddly enough, the background for the 9/11 pages loaded with no problem.
    Thanks for the tip on the activity window (I did not know about that tool), that definitely gave more insight into what I was missing. I will give some thought to remove the border (will probably try it on a page or two to see how it looks first before changing the whole site).
    One last thing...I had named my homepage index.html (that file still exists on the server) but the optimizer program generated the file index.html.html - if I deleted this file, would the server presumably recognize the standard index.html file?
    Look forward to hearing your input. Thanks again for your help, Tom

    Hi...
    The background image in this CCS style worked fine for me. You might try to include the Width and Height and Visibility...
    #layer1 { background-image: url(Frost.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; height: 132px; width: 262px; left: 18px; top: 18px; position: absolute; visibility: visible; }

  • Destop Background Not Showing

    I've had 10.5 fr a couple of months on my 15' MBP 2.3.
    Suddenly today the desktop background picture is not showing. When I restart it briefly appears before shutdown. On restart it appears but as soon as the dock and menu are populated it disappears again.
    When I change the background picture, I can a little of it see it transparently behind the menu bar but the main desktop is blank (white).
    What have I done wrong?

    With all due respect, I really think you should invest in a menu system and possibly a template.  Having a bunch of rollover images and trying to align text inside them is an outdated technique.  You can do much more with the Spry menus or the Project Seven menus or look up a "vertical css menu" like these: http://cssmenumaker.com/vertical_css_menu.php .  As far as the template is concerned, there needs to be more colors that go together and you have to use color to draw people's attention from one place to the next.  The text in the menu appears too large and there is hardly any direction with a long paragraph.  I've worked around scientific companies before who want to be the end-all for averything and it's a gross mistake.  Think about being a customer who is a complete idiot (for lack of a better term) and knows nothing about what you sell.  In 5 seconds they will make a decision on your site about how to proceed.  Use that 5-second test on people and see what they come away with.  There's even a website dedicated to it: ( http://fivesecondtest.com/ ) and plenty of other testing sites just like it.

  • CSS style -Background not showing ?

    hi everybody ,
    first of all i'm quite new to Dreamweaver and webdesign word so ... sorry if i make mistakes
    when trying to prewiew my site , or in dreamweaver itself , i cant see my background (is a .png file made whit photoshop , a simple gradient whit some effects)
    i tryed to use the site manage , and set the image default folde , but this didn't resolved anything !
    this is my HTML code (oh yes , i'm writing the site in HTML5):
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <link href="CSS/SitoCSS.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="Principale"></div>
    </body>
    </html>
    And the CSS style page:
    @charset "utf-8";
    /* CSS Document */
    body {
              background-color: #03F;
              background-image: url(Images/sfondo.png);
              background-repeat: no-repeat;
              margin-left: 0px;
              margin-top: 0px;
              margin-right: 0px;
              margin-bottom: 0px;
    #Principale {
              font-family: "Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif;
              background-color: #000;
              float: left;
              height: auto;
              width: 901px;
    thank you all
    Bye !

    Without seeing the live page its difficult to analyse BUT here's a couple of things you could look at:
    1) Is the name of your folder really Images with a cap 'I' or is it images with a lower case 'i' ?
    Images/sfondo.png
    2) Is your png file saved as RGB and not CYMK color space?
    3) Looking at what you have posted the path to your bg image is probably incorrcet
    background-image: url(Images/sfondo.png);
    Should be: (note the ../ infront of the Images folder name):
    background-image: url(../Images/sfondo.png);

    Make sure transparency is turned off when you export, and
    that you check
    "Include areas without slices."

  • Background not showing

    Hi!
    I feel like I have tried everything, although I do hope I haven't.
    I have a file that I have uses CSS style, absolute positioning and z-index. It is a fairly simple site. This is the first time I have used absolute positioning and z-index. Since I have never had problems with my background showing before I am assuming the conflict is with one or the other.
    Does anyone know of a fix. I have tried a solid background and a small repeating image.
    Thanks in advance for the help!

    Can't begin to guess what you've got going on without seeing your live page.
    For best results in these forums, always upload your test page and dependant files to your remote server and post a URL so we can see your page, HTML & CSS code firsthand.
    When things go wrong, it's usually code errors.  Check that your code is valid and fix any reported errors.  It makes problem solving much easier.

  • Div Background not showing in IE as nicely as in FF

    I wondered if someone would be kind enough to help me sort out a CSS styling difference between IE and FF.  It may be something very simple, but I can't see it and I don't want to spend hours searching the internet.
    I am using CS5.5.  I have put a double border on a div (#container), and in FF, it shows the blue background of the div through the beige double border, however in IE8, it doesn't, and I would like it replicated in IE as it just defines the div nicely.
    #container  {
        width: 800px;
        text-align: left;
        margin-top: 0;
        margin-right: auto;
        margin-bottom: 0;
        margin-left: auto;
        background-color: #879CAF;
        border: 8px;
        border-style: double;
        border-color: #DCDED1;
    IE8 has also lost the spacing at the top of the page.
    http://www.stephanieconnell.co.uk/cp/index.html
    Many thanks
    Stephanie

    You could ad spacing at the top by adding margin-top.
    I could only see your page in IE9, that also differs from FF, i'm afraid it's the different renedering of browers, mut maybe somebody elwe will know a solution.

  • Background not showing in browser after upload?

    I need some help (duh or I wouldn't be posting). I have made a website with a background that would resize by using the code for "cover" But after it is uploaded it doesn't show up. Here is a link to one of the pages, http://metro.metrocog.org/new.html
    Thanks for the help
    ps new to css be gentle please.

    The source code shows path to the image folder is using a lower case 'i' when your folder was created using upper case 'I'. Best to use all lower case for folder and file names.

  • Background job not showing full output of Report

    Dear Experts
    we have created zpgm for stad report and try to take output as mail to particular user for future analysis bcaz stad gives only 2 days report only we need keep report for months together so when we run job in foreground it shows proper output but when same thing when we run from background it shows only some part of report in mail (we are unable to get full output through background job )
    we send mail through spool receipts we have created folder and maintain user for getting mails through so15 distribution list
    we need some input to come out of this major issue
    if there is any other workaround let me know
    Regards

    Hello,
    If a job is defined by transaction SM36, the print format parameters will only be taken into account, if they are saved as user specific print parameters of the batch user. If no user specific print format
    is defined,  the ALV standard logic will be processed adjusting the print format to the actual line size of the report.
    For example, the list line size is about 132 characters, the widest available format of the chosen printer will be selected X_65_132.
    The problem would be solved by defining a device type which is no format assigned to print, or by defining user specific print format parameters for the batch user, who creates the jobs in SM36 (see
    SAP note 1179399, item 6).
    Regards,
    David

  • Out put in Background (SM37) not showing All columns

    Hi Folks,
             I’m creating an out put display for my query in background , we have define an output device , after submitting the query in back ground it just showing me only 10 columns . I mean I its not showing me all columns when I went to SE37-> select job->”spool ->view (display).
    Why it’s happening?
    Please help me
    Cheers
    Usman

    When you are submitting the job in background by exexuting your query from Sq01 or Tr.code , a screen will pop-up ask for you device name, on the same screen you’ll see properties hit that, it’ll take you to another screen and change the report format 65 and 200 or 65 and 200. It depends on your out put device . You can only display report till 255 . If you want to active ALV functional enable in background spool job you have to use extracts for that . So you can download your data in correct format.
    You can also decrease the length of variables in query so within 255 characters you can see all report columns.
    Hope this’ll help you .
    Hope this’ll give you idea!!
    <b>P.S award the points.</b>
    Good luck
    Thanks

  • When printing a PLD in 9.0 the color background does not show

    I have a PLD document (Sales Order) that I changed a field to have a "red" background which shows in my PLD document fine.  But I cannot get the color to show in my print out or in the print preview.  This issue has not been a problem for us in 8.82 but in 9.0 the same changes I make does not work.
    Has anyone had similar issues with this and if so, any suggestions on how to fix?
