Backup Assistant Web address book

I can't find the  Backup Assistant Web address book... I follow the FAQ and only get to the info page not my address book... Please help.

Good morning CZimmer45,
Please accept my apologies if it's difficult to find your contacts on backup assistant online at My Verizon. I used to share this same struggle when trying to locate my contacts online. There are two ways to access your contacts online. You can log into your account using the link below, which will direct you right to your contacts.
getbackupnow.com (without the www in front)
Another option is to log into www.verizonwireless.com and highlight My Verizon on the red banner. Under the My Device column, simply select Backup Assistant and you will be redirected to you contacts online.
If you have any questions or concerns then feel free to reply to this message so I can further assist!
Thank you...

Where is the home/application support/address book folder in Lion?  Can't find it to put in a backup.
I made a mistake.  I want to find the home/library/application support/address book - not the application itself.  The whole library is not there - is it a hidden file?  And if so how do I get it to show?

Kappy, I was going to start a Thread about the Application Folder so I'm glad you brought it up and you said that it should not even exist. I've had an Applications Folder within my Home Folder thru multiple OS. I'm even tempted to say since OS 9, but I'm not sure about that. There has never been anything in that folder and I don't remember ever creating it. Infact, The folder to me looks like a folder that would be installed as part of the OS.

  • Drop-link assistant in address book to other business or person

While working with the Address Book, I often have (assistants, spouses, etc.) which I already have an entry for, that I would like to be able to drop / drag into the "assistant, spouse" field in Address Book to link these people.  If you enter the correct spelling etc., Addr. Book does a pretty good job in finding links, but this would be a sure thing.

    Hi,
I tested this issue and I can reproduce it in my environment. However, as far as I know, this behavior won't affect the usage of the address book.
I searched the internal resource but I cannot find a bug report regarding this issue. If you have any suggestion about this issue, you can submit a feedback via:

  • Time Machine backup automatically deletes address book

I accidentally deleted all contacts in address book.  When i attempt to restore the address book from time machine, the address book is restored then automatically deletes all contacts again.

In case it will help anyone else, this is the rather complicated procedure worked out with Apple Support to restore Address Book to an earlier state.  Hopefully Apple will consider a switch of some sort to restart or re-initialize the contacts which would greatly simplify the procedure.
If using iCloud, uncheck Contacts box in System Preferences>iCloud
    Quit Address Book
Restore Address Book folder in User/LIbrary/Application Support to previous version with Time Machine
Trash all Address Book preferences in User Library/Preferences
    Log Out/In or Restart
Start Address Book and verify desired address book version is now available
If not using iCloud you are done, otherwise you need to create new Address Book Folder with current file dates that contains desired previous data
First Go to Web version of iCloud Contacts and erase all contacts
From Address Book Export vCard with All Contacts
Export vCard for each manually defined group
    Quit Address Book
Trash Address Book folder in User/Library/Application Support
Trash all Address Book preferences in User Library/Preferences
    Log Out/In or Restart
Start Address Book and Import vCard with All Contacts
Import vCard for each defined group one at a time and:
Check review duplicates and keep new
Select Last Import for each group and manually assign to Group Name
Re-Check Contacts box in System Preferences>iCloud
New address book should populate to iCloud and other devices

  • SSL Certificate setup for Web/Address Book/iCal in 10.7 Lion?

I know nothing about certificates. I plan to use my Mini server to help manage my family's computers which are pretty spread out across the U.S. My plan is to use profile manager for device management, host a couple websites (one secure for home security cams) and share address books and calendars. This is as much a geek gadget project as it is "useful" so I understand I may be creating some work for myself
Anyway, can someone walk me through the correct setup for certificates? My research is showing me a LOT of options/parameters. Due to the expense, i don't want to create one just to find it won't serve my purposes.
Also, I think i'm going with RapidSSL...$50 is the cheapest I've come across...hopefully the offer what I need?

I have just spent 30 minutes on the phone to a pleseant chap in Athens, and now have a solution.
We tried several options and the final one worked - so simple.
Click on the apple symbol > system preferences > iCloud > disable contact sync > keep contacts
Check search, in my case it worked for the first time in several weeks :-)
then re-enable contact sync as follows:
Click on the apple symbol > system preferences > iCloud > re-tick contacts > merge contacts
    Search still works
    Hallelujah!

  • How do I access a backup to the address book?

    Greetings everyone,
I am trying to access my address book from a time machine back up but everytime I down load an old back up and open it the contacts are all the same as the most recent ones.
In otherwords it always opens the newest version regardless of which one open up.
At first I tried just putting it on the desk top and clicking on it there.
Then I tried replacing the address book in the applications folder with the one in the time machine and placing the original one in the trash but when I open it up it still says it is the most recent address book. And I know I was down loading a very old version from a year ago.
    thanks for any help

Something clicked in my head awhile after reading your post. The app isn't what needs replacing. Go to User folder (your user name) > Library > Application Support > Address Book. That's the folder you want to replace. And remember to save your newest one (I think you'll have to put it in the trash and restart, but go ahead and try it by just putting it on the desktop and putting the old folder in Application Support).

  • Problems with Reverting to an Address Book Backup

I keep my address book updated on my iMac at home that is running OS v10.6 Snow Leopard. At work, I am now using a G5 that is running OS v10.4 Tiger. I have created a +Backup of my Address Book+ at home and brought the .abbu file with me to work so that I could +Revert to an Address Book Backup+ on my G5.
I've done it twice already and I'm still missing vCards (mostly recently added). Also, some of the other vCards have old information. Is there something I'm not doing right? If the solution is to highlight all vCards and +Export vCard...+ then what is the point of +Back up Address Book...+

    Dear Pat,
Thank you. I have received the exact same reply from Amreso.
I thank you both for your replies. If the problem occurs again, I shall follow your advice.
I just need to pluck up the courage. I get so nervous with the computer when it plays up.

  • Importing Address Book Backup file [.abbu]

    Hi
I just wondered if anyone has ever imported from a .abbu file successfully?
I have an iMac and an old Powerbook, and have to update the contacts in Address Book on my Powerbook when I go on a trip. So I make Backup files from Address Book on my iMac just before I go away. I also export as VCards which gives me 'vCards.vcf', and finally I simply choose Select All and drag all the contacts over to the folder i'm backing up into – which gives me 'Joe Bloggs and 801 others.vcf'
The reason I use these 3 methods is because I found that when using my Powerbook, whenever I import the .abbu file I end up with a very very old version of my data – even though I only backed up the day before. I have just tried once again, and having had 802 contacts on my iMac, when I import the .abbu file I end up with 700.
So I'm having to load in a batch VCF file, which is a solution of sorts but doesn't include my Groups of course. It is concerning that these Address Book Backup files don't seem to be complete back ups at all.
Is anyone else aware of this?

however, if it was an OS difference issue, why would it only import some of the contacts?
That, I'm not sure of; possibly because there was no change in 102 of them, so it may have ignored those. It's also possible the backup was somehow corrupted in those particular records. So many possibilities, so little time to test them all.
But the .abbu contains a lot more than just your contacts; it's a really a package, just like any application, so you can open it and see what else is in there, too. I've restored from both before and I've never had a problem, but I use the Export to vCard format most often, just to be sure I don't run into problem with changes in later or previous versions of Address Book.

  • How to restore contact info, etc, in Address Book from a backup drive?

I accidentally deleted the entries (names, contact info, etc) in Address Book. My hard drive is fully backed up on another drive.
How do I replace the deleted contacts from my backup file? Or, how do I replace the current Address Book with the undamaged one on my backup drive?
    Thanks.
    Ed in Dallas

What kind of backup? If it's a TM backup then open Address Book and select Address Book Help from the Help menu. Search for "restore from time machine." You'll find an article on how to restore entries from a TM backup.
If this is simply a cloned backup then navigate to the /Home/Library/Application Support/ folder on the backup drive and copy the AddressBook folder to the same location on your hard drive.
Then navigate to /Home/Library/Preferences/ and copy the com.apple.addressbook.plist and com.apple.addressbook.abd.plist files from the backup to the same location on your hard drive.
Address Book must not be running.

  • Backup ical, address book, and mail automator action

It seems very odd to me that there are no automator actions to backup ical, address book and mail. I have looked around to no avail. Am I mistaken, do such actions exist?
I use super duper to back up my hardrive on an automatic schedule, but I would love to make a workflow that would backup my ical, address book databases and my email. I don't want to have to restore my entire had drive from my SuperDuper image if I lose only my ical database.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Jake

I'm guessing the reason might be that Apple want you to use their dotmac account for this purpose.
The only way around it is to backup the individual folders that are used by those apps. eg:
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Address Book
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Mail
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Safari
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/iCal
If needing to re-build, just drag and drop these folders into place.

  • Lion Address Book problem - all of over 2,000 contacts disappeared - one mysteriously reappeared - then they all reappeared during resync with Gmail!

The subject iine pretty much describes what happened.
I am wondering if it is anything to do with what looks like an odd file in the directory ~ Library -> Application Support -> Address Book
As well as the "real" database file there is this zero bytes one:
    AddressBook-v22.abcddb.0F392545-78F2-4AE6-8D30-457C138332B2.unknown
From the date, it might be something to do with installing and linking Cobook to Address Book maybe?
These are the files and folders in that directory (sub-directory files not shown):
I have enabled the debug menu in Address Book but have not been able to find any info about how to use it.  I lie!  I did read that I might possibly have been able to "retrieve" the contacts using the debug menu "Force Refresh" - however that was after I had started to resync with Gmail contacts.
I realised that something odd was going on during resync when I saw that there were over 4,000 contacts being processed rather than the 2,000 or so that I was expecting.  Initially, none of the contacts groups from Gmail were showing in Address Book after this partial sync (I stopped it when I saw what was happening).  However, after quitting and restarting Address Book, the groups appeared again.
I have not lost my contact data - as well as Gmail contacts I also have an Address Book backup from about two weeks ago and also the backup created by Cobook about two weeks ago.  (Installed Cobook as it looked like a very efficient way of getting to view individual contacts quickly - Quicksilver just isn't finding them at all).  I used third party app "Contacts Sync for Google Gmail" to link Address Book with Gmail as it gives you options about what to do for each duplicate card that it identifies.
I then spent a lot of time sorting through the contacts on Address Book, finding duplicates, updating data, etc. with the intention of managing contacts in Address Book from then on, rather than in Gmail. Not all of these changes are reflected in the Cobook backup or Gmail.
My worry is, with Lion being such a god-awful Pig's Ear in so many more ways than this, that this Address Book mess might happen again.
I seem to have spent most of my time over the last month wrestling with the numerous problems that keep cropping up with Lion and getting little to show for it.
WARNING! FOOT-STAMPING WHINGE ABOUT LION - LOOK AWAY AND DOWN TO THE HOWLING FACES - IT WON'T BE ANYTHING THAT YOU HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE:
I gave up on OSX when I tried Panther - that was dreadful - but was lured back by Tiger, have used Leopard very comfortably for about 5 years, had a very happy couple of months with Snow Leopard and now - this mess that is Lion!  I have repaired OSX install permissions and "home user" permissions time and again, TinkerTooled it until I am blue in the face and it seems that every few days I manage to fix something and then almost immediately something else screws up. I can't upgrade to Mountain Lion on this machine and am seriously considering installing or running Linux as these problems with Lion are just never-ending - and then there are all the other stupid changes that have subsequently been sensibly reverted, mitigated or worked around in ML).
I have never bothered much with Address Book or Mail in the past as I have found them too limited.   I have used either the Gmail web interface or Thunderbird.  However, Gmail has started crashing my favourite browsers (Seamonkey and Firefox), Thunderbird has got just a bit too complicated and I cannot get Quicksilver to play ball with Gmail.  The Lion version of Address Book is better than Gmail Contacts and Mail Smart Folders can emulate Gmail filters and labels - a huge improvement.  So, just when these apps look good enough to be worth bothering with, they come part and parcel with what I have seen mocked, and rightly, as "Apple Vista"!
Sorry for that  but I am about at the end of my tether with it all ;-/
I would be very grateful if anyone can offer any advice about:
    1) That strange looking zero bytes file in the Address Book folder.
    2) Whether the Address Book debug menu options might be of any help in this situation?
There seem to be lots of people having problems with Address Book in both Lion and Mountain Lion, if not exactly this issue, so maybe the answers will help others too.
    Fingers crossed!
    Ms Mousette
ps. In the product list to tick for this question they are grouped so I cannot specify that this is actually nothing to do with the iPhone.  I have got a load of contacts on my iPhone too but I am not going to sync them until I have got this issue sorted out.

Could this font be the cause of the problem?
Possibly, since that font is not the one that Address Book uses and there is no method to specify or change the font used by Address Book. You could have recovered your Address Book contacts without syncing, so that could also be part of the problem. You should always make a keep a backup of your Address Book on your computer and in another safe location whenever you make any change to it.
May I ask why you haven't updated to 10.4.11 yet, as it provides various bug fixes and security enhancements?
    Mulder

  • Address Book Sync Problems

When I enter new contact info into address book it won't show up in my iphone or web address book.
System Preferences is checked to sync address book, same with dot mac, the info is not getting through. I've tried everything.
So, why do deleted contacts hang on in .Mac and iPhone? After I've changed and deleted groups there is no change to iPhone groups or .Mac groups. Am I missing something?
    Open to ideas.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Given that you are on BES, why in the world are you putting up with it's non-functionality? With BES, you should be receiving Over the Air (OTA) sync of email, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc...no need whatsoever to synchronize to Outlook via USB tether. If that is not working, then you should do one of two things:
    1) Talk to your BES admins and have them get it working properly for you...you are missing a lot!!!
    -- OR --
    2) Talk to your carrier about changing your data plan and dropping BES -- you are paying extra for a service that you cannot even use!!
Once you decide which path you wish to pursue, let us know.
    Good luck!

  • Backup Assistant and birthdates not saving correctly

I have been lucky and figured out I needed to have my own sign-in for my phone in order to have Backup Assistant work with a family plan (I'm not the primary).  And the first couple of times I tried it I got weird messages.  But I hung in there and it paid off and now it works like a charm.  Except - I am using it as a total backup for my address book and when I put in birth dates the "day" is saved as one day off.  When I discovered it on the first entry I thought it was my mistake - but not all of them.  I keep going back in to correct it but it's not holding all of them.  What's the problem?

I have one contact, that the same thing occurs. Deleted them, loaded them via the BA site instead of the phone and always a day and a year off.

  • Sync Address Book with Yahoo Address book?

    Hi there,
just wondering if its possible to some how sync Address Book with Yahoo Address book?
That is... I have an elaborate Address Book setup on Yahoo, I'd like it so that if I use Yahoo Address Book and create/delete contacts that when I get home and use Address Book, Address Book syncs the contacts structure to the yahoo structure, without me manually intervening...
Is this possible or is there a tool/widget that does this already?
    Thanks

while looking for somehting else, i found something here in the discussions that might do the trick. it involves another web-based address book, but might work for you. try getting the plaxo address book plug-in, and then sync your yahoo contacts with plaxo, and then sync that with address book. i'm not sure of the order that would give you the best results, but i'm working on using plaxo as an online backup of my address book, as i will most-likely not be using plaxo otherwise.
my concern for you would be whether one would write over the other, so back up your address book first, or even export the entire thing as a vcard file to your desktop, and then you can re-import and merge them... that way you can sync with your yahoo account, and then add whatever is already in your address book and merge whatever is necessary.
search here in the discussions for the plaxo plug-in, and see if that sounds like it would work for you. the only issue i have right now is that it seems that the plaxo install has somehow affected my icalfix plug-in, but i'll look into fixing that this weekend, i'm sure i just need to move some plug-ins around.
    cheers,

  • Address Book importing Mac to Mac

I need some help with moving (really just copying) my address book from one mac to another. I don't know where to start...but, I think moving a .plist file would do it, but I have no idea where to find that file.
Also, a bit off topic in this forum, but how do I do the same with Safari bookmarks?
    Thanks.

At the Address Book menu bar on the Mac to be transferred from, go to File and select Back up Address Book.
The default name for the backup file is Address Book - (and the date).
On the Mac to be transferred to, at the Address Book menu bar go to File and select Revert to Address Book Backup selecting the Address Book backup file created on the other Mac.
Regarding Safari Bookmarks, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Safari > Bookmarks.plist.
Copy this file and with Safari quit on the Mac to be transferred to, place the Bookmarks.plist copy in the same location.
If you want to transfer all Safari data, copy the entire Safari folder at Home > Library > Safari and with Safari quit on the Mac to be transferred to, place the copy at Home > Library.
