Bad CertificateRequest DN length

Hi All,
I have set up SOAP(2.3.1) SSL in tomcat 4.1.27 with JDK1.3.1. The client authentication (2 way) works fine when the [java_home]\jre\lib\security\cacerts has 10 trusted certs. However, when import upto 200 trusted certs in the cacerts keystore, following excepts occurs:
server side:
Thread-10, WRITE: SSL v3.1 Handshake, length = 2849
Thread-10, READ: SSL v3.1 Alert, length = 2
Thread-10, RECV SSLv3 ALERT: fatal, handshake_failure
cliend side:
main, READ: SSL v3.1 Handshake, length = 16384
main, READ: SSL v3.1 Handshake, length = 2849
main, SEND SSL v3.1 ALERT: fatal, description = handshake_failure
main, WRITE: SSL v3.1 Alert, length = 2

I have tried to use JDK1.4.1 and the problem solve. But, our application already work with JDK1.3.1 in production stage so that upgrading is not possible.
It seems the cacerts has limitation about the number of trusted cert. Anyone know how to solve this with JDK1.3.1?
Thanks a lot.
brgds Peter

one idea is to write your own TrustManager in which you
dont have to load up all 200 certs at once. But rather,when
the client cert chain is presented to you, you some how
would match the chain with your list of trusted CAs (however you
choose to manage it). One way to manage it is to index
the PEMs using their distinguished name and look up based on that.
It's probably about 50-70 lines of codes altogether.
But not sure how you would tell Tomcat to use your trustmanager
though. I think you have to also implement a TrustManagerFactory
and then override JSSE with system property sun.SSL.trustmanager.type

    Hello,
    I've been trying to Google my problem but found no answers; hopefully someone can help me?
    Whenever I'm online, my System.logs fills up (every second, and sometimes, multiple times each second) with the following message :

    My DSL modem is connect directly into my iMac. It's a Speedstream 5360). I never have any problems connecting to the Internet and the speed I get is fine. When I configured my Network settings, I only added my PPPoE Service name username and âssword - everything else was automatically added (Ethernet configuration).
    Is there anything I should change in the Advanced Settings?
    The System.log causes me problem because it often causes the application Console to crash when I try to view it.

    I should add that this problem didn't exist when I was using Tiger.
    Also, when I called Apple Tech Support, I was simply told "just don't play with the Console".

    at the same time my network speeds plummet from 7m/sec down to 400 k/sec.
    any idea what's going on? i am connected to the internet via a switch to a router to a dsl modem. another machine coming off the same switch has no problem.

    I am also experiencing this. It doesn't seem to happen as fast as it does for you, but does happen when I start copying files over the network via SMB/CIFS (windows file shares) or anything that seems to move at high speeds.
    What is happening to me is that around the time this happens, all network connectivity drops. This seems to begin happening after the last system/security update.

    Hi,
    It sounds like a dependent library has gone missing or has become corrupt.
    Try re-installing the 10.4.6 combo update over the users existing installation to see if it replaces to problematic files.

  • Mac mini won't boot anymore

    My Mac mini won't boot anymore. It's been running fine for months.
    It's running Leopard Server 10.5.2 Build 9C31
    It starts to boot, I get the first spinning gear with the gray screen, then the blue desktop blinks, then a second spinning gear on a gray screen and it appears to hang (the gear stops spinning).
    I booted off the install DVD, ran disk utility, repaired the HD, repaired the permissions: the behavior is the same.
    Safe mode doesn't work (same hang as above).
    Single user mode does work.
    I can connect to it via Server Admin while it appears hung.

    Yes, it's been running Server since I purchased it.
    I doubt the serial number is in use elsewhere: I purchased the 10-user version at a retail store in a sealed package and I've only installed it once.

  • 10.5.8 network throughput and AppleYukon2

    I recently detected that my throughput was 25% of what it should be. A speed test confirmed this. I have DSL which is a direct line to the telco office, so it's not cable congestion. I checked the logs and was confronted with a totally saturated log filled with AppleYukon2 kernel extension errors complaining of bad packets received. MII error and CRC.
    kernel[0]: AppleYukon2 - bad packet received. length: 1506, packet status bits: CRC error
    kernel[0]: AppleYukon2 - bad packet received. length: 36, packet status bits: Broadcasts: MII error
    (repeats with different length values and CRC/MII)
    These errors saturate the log. They appear more frequently if I try and start a download. The problem was not application specific.
    The first thing I checked were my networking cables. Other computers on the same network do not appear to have this same problem.
    I installed the recently released security update. This brought my throughput back up to 75% of what it should be. The log is still filling with bad packet errors.
    I installed 10.6 on an external drive and updated it to 10.6.1
    The throughput is still considerably degraded and the log fills with bad packet errors.
    I also tried dumping Extentions.mkext and safe boot with no result
    I know that some people that updated to 10.5.8 saw serious problems with the ethernet chip doing a hard reset. A suggested solution was to downgrade the AppleTukon2 kernel extension to the one found in 10.5.6
    I would prefer not to do this. Instead I am going to install a fresh install of 10.5.4 on to an external drive and see if the problem still presents. If it's doing it there too, I guess the only thing i have to look at is a hardware failure or the router, but I think this is improbable because other computers on the network are fine and the computer has passed a full HW test.
    In the meantime, has anyone else seen this problem on this iMac model or others? Anyone have additional suggestions? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    It may be an external device in your case, but I am experiencing the same symptoms when connecting to devices on my local subnet. I am pretty sure this is related to the iMac itself, as I see link being lost on the interface, both in the /private/var/log/kernel.log, and on the switch it is connected to.

  • Getting bogged down in generics

    I have several similar Adapter classes and I am trying to refactor up to a common abstract class. My class needs to hang on to an array of "model" objects. When I initialize that array I seem to be forced to accept a warning. I suppose this is fine, but I suspect the warning is trying to tell me there's a better way. I could declare the array as the NamedModel type instead of the ModelType, but that seems bad because I want to express that these will always be of the more restrictive class (hopefully this makes sense).
    Here's my code:
    public abstract class NamedModelAdapter<ModelType extends NamedModel> extends BaseAdapter {
         private ModelType[] mModels;
            private Map<Integer, ModelType> mModelsAsAMap;
         public NamedModelAdapter(Context context, Cursor cursor) {
                    // this gives an error "Cannot create generic array of ModelType"
              // mModels = new ModelType[cursor.getCount()];
                    // this gives a warning "Unchecked cast from NamedModel[] to ModelType[]
              mModels = (ModelType[]) new NamedModel[cursor.getCount()];
                    // this gives an error "Cannot instantiate the type Map<Integer, ModelType>"
              //mModelsAsAMap = new Map<Integer, ModelType>(cursor.getCount());
    // stuff deleted
    }{code}
    Looking this over, I'm getting the strong feeling I'm missing something.  Please go easy on me, I'm still new to Java :-).

    As Walter indicated, generics and arrays do not mix well.
    public abstract class NamedModelAdapter<T extends NamedModel> extends Object {
        private final T[] modelsAsArray;
        private final List<T> modelsAsList;
        private final Map<Integer, T> modelsAsMap;
        public NamedModelAdapter(final Context context, final Cursor cursor) {
            modelsAsArray = createGenericArray(cursor.getCount());
            modelsAsList = new ArrayList<T>();
            modelsAsMap = new HashMap<Integer, T>();
         * Note the following is inadvisable.  Mixing generics and arrays is generally bad.
         * @param   length                  Desired length of array
         * @return  T[]                     Unsafe generic array
        @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
        private T[] createGenericArray(final int length)
            return (T[]) new NamedModel[length];

  • Time Machine has Gone Nuts

    I hope somebody can help with this. I have an aluminum Macbook Pro with a 160 GB internal drive and an external Seagate 300 GB drive. There's about 50 GB of miscellaneous stuff on the external drive alongside a Time Machine backup -- in the same partition.
    Lately every backup takes forever -- a half hour or more. And the time is increasing. It seems like soon Time Machine will have to run continuously to back up once an hour. During the backup it churns the drive mercilessly -- the head chatters and chatters throughout the backup. If I select the Backups.backupdb and get info on it, I get the same sounds -- and it takes forever, many minutes, to determine the size of that folder. I usually lose patience before it's finished.
    However, the backups seem fine. I can open Time Machine and restore from a backup without problems. In all other ways, the drive seems to be functioning fine. I have no reason to believe it's failing.
    So -- could drive fragmentation be the culprit? Do I not have enough free space on the drive? (just 15 GB). Can I degrag the drive with Drive Genius 2? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Steve

    Below are a few more console items from that time period. (I'm downloading Time Machine buddy but I assume it'll show the same stuff.) I have no idea whether any of this is relevant, but they're the only items that seem to imply errors. (Except the one in the previous post "Unable to rebuild path cache")
    I should add that the backup this morning took well over an hour, at which point I stopped it. It was backing up roughly one day of changes -- not a whole lot of stuff. If I left it on all the time it would never stop working. And throughout the entire process the disk is making a constant churning noise with the head moving all over the place. Just doing a get info on backups.backupdb creates the same noise.
    I've read the D2 section in the TM troubleshooting doc and I'm afraid I don't see anything relevant there. I'd long ago removed the TM disk from Spotlight indexing and I don't run an antivirus ap. I will run disk utility on the disk shortly.
    My next step is to give up and switch disks. I've got a new 1.5T that I'm going to partition -- one for TM, one for everything else. And I'll start with a fresh backup. But this old backup has stuff going back nearly a year. If needed, can I unplug the new drive, plug in the old one and go back in time with it?
    Thanks again,
    Steve

  • Wired ethernet stops working on c2d MBP

    I am a new 15 inch C2D MBP owner and I'm just starting to learn all the Mac stuff... I need your help because I have a serious problem with wired ethernet stability under macOS. I need to know if it's something specific to my machine or if anyone else has similar problem.
    I am connected to a LAN with a 10/100 Mbit switch. I'm using a good cable (checked!). And my connection seems to hang from time to time. Usually this happens under heavier load (torrent plus multi-tab browsing), but it dies sometimes during casual browsing or checking for system updates. And it's anywhere from 3 minutes to 12 hours between hangs...
    The symptoms are strange. The connection seems to be on, but there's a sudden surge in bad packet received number and the network connection stops working remaining on-line. Putting the machine to sleep or manually shutting down the line helps immediately. I'm using:
    sudo ifconfig en0 down
    sudo ifconfig en0 up
    At first I suspected hardware problem but the same line works perfectly under Windows (with even higher load, and tcpip.sys patched to 1000 connections).
    It acted like this from the very first moment I got it and I have no clue if I should contact service or wait for a patch or maybe just stick to Windows (just kidding)...
    I've browsed the forum and it seems I'm not the only one with the problem:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=649927
    but this topic is unsolved... There's nothing really strange in system.log:
    Dec 15 17:22:45 honsiu kernel[0]: AppleYukon: bad packet received. length: 20, packet status bits: Packet fragment
    Dec 15 17:25:01 honsiu sudo: Janek : TTY=ttyp1 ; PWD=/Users/Janek ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/sbin/ifconfig en0 down

    Dec 15 17:25:06 honsiu kernel[0]: AppleYukon: bad packet received. length: 21, packet status bits: Packet fragment
    Any hints appreciated. It's a beautiful machine and I'm so sorry it doesn't work as it should...

    evans_re,
    does the trackpad not work? If it works, you could try selecting “Shut Down…” from the Apple menu.
    As a last resort, you can hold down the power button for approximately ten seconds, which should force a (non-clean) shutdown.
    If your keyboard is completely non-functional (excepting the power button), then you should take it to an Apple store or other qualified service facility.

  • URGENT:how to get the error table populated in ODI

    Hello all,
    I am working on an interface of ODI where mapping is from a XML file to the database tables. I want, when there is any bad data (having length size greater than the target table's column length or data type mismatch) the bad data should get rejected or separated.
    I am using LKM, CKM, and IKM knowledge modules, but the erroneous record is not getting populated in even in the error table.
    when I try to insert lets say 4 records and 2nd record is erroneous then it is only inserting the 1st record. i want that the erroneous record should get inserted in the error table.
    Please suggest, if anybody is having any related information to get this done. That would be really helpful.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Phil,
    Thanks for your update.
    The option which you have mentioned having cloumn as char 4000, I can not do that as my target tables are seeded tables.
    I have also tried to get the data atleast in C$ tables having their length as varchar 4000. but it is not allowing to insert in C$ tables also.
    In my case I am getting data for ex: date_of_birth in VARCHAR datatype from the source XML and I have converted it ot DATE while mapping it to target column having DATE as the datatype.
    what if the DATE in xml source is invalid? its giving me the error while execution "Invalid datetime format". how would I identify that this error is for a particular record. If I can get this erroneous record atleast in C$ table I can find a work around for this correction then.
    I hope you have solution for this problem :)
    Thanks.

  • Yosemite: slow after some time

    This is my problem: Yosemite goes slow after some hours i started the system.

  • 10.4.5 thinks it installed, but it didn't...

    I tried using Software Update to install 10.4.5, and it had an error, and said it could not install. I rebooted to try the install again, but my system was reporting that it was version 10.4.5! The software update install log did not reflect that the update had been applied.
    Is there anyway I can scratch out that 10.4.5 information somewhere so I can install it properly?

    Cool, thank you very much. Install.log is very informative. It looks like it failed yesterday with this:
    Feb 14 22:37:17 PBG4-17 Software Update[2236]: Assembling temporary receipt

    Feb 14 22:37:39 PBG4-17 Software Update[2236]: Install failed: Error encountered while patching fil
    The new patch does not appear to have touched the timestamp on racoon, and I'm not sure what it does. Right now it's dated Jan 17th, so I don't know if that was supposed to be updated or not, but while the updater I ran manually doesn't mention anything about racoon, it reported no errors, so I'm guessing it's good to go.
    I should note that this error seems to occur after the files are installed to their locations. I'm not sure what bspatch is trying to do patch. If you match it up with the === Prebinding notice for a successful patch, it seems to be in the clear, but I am not sure what the impact of failure is. It is somewhat comforting to note that the version number of my system most likely was 10.4.5, and the misreporting was in the software update log, rather than the OS's inability to figure out its version.

    Airport Time capsule  "internal drive needs repair". brand new out of the box.
    ModelA1470 Running  one newish mac mini mountan lion. Airport utility 6.3
    Also I can not enter the serial number into web site so I can't get help

    Take it straight back to the store for replacement. It is faulty.. there is no fix you can do from outside. Even if there was, I would still say it is Apple's problem.. and a disk should never go bad in that length of time..
    You would think after the debacle with Seagate drives in the imacs they would never touch them again.

  • Cannot delete VTP domain on 2950

    I want to delete the VTP domain name on my 2950.
    Sh VTP Status display :
    VTP domain : CACE
    VTP mode : transparent
    Try to use command line vtp domain "" and having this message
    Operation failed; Bad domain name length
    What is the way to set a null domain name ?

    Hi Friend,
    The easiest way is to give it some other domain name which does not exist in your network if you do not want your switch to participate in any VTP domain which exist in your network.
    Switch default is in no-management-domain state.
    After the switch leaves the no-management-domain state, it can not be configured to re-enter it until you clear the NVRAM and reload the software.
    So if you completely want to get rid of it clear NVRAM and reload the software.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12120ea2/3550cr/cli3.htm#wp1878369
    By my recommendation is if you put into any domain which does not exist in your network it is same as no-management-domain state because it will not participate in your existing VTP domains.
    HTH, if yes please rate the post.
