Badi Testing

Hi All,
I have written a BADI, but I am not sure about how to test the same. When i tried to debug the trasaction, i couldnt find the badi being triggered. does that need any project to be created ?
Reagrds,
Jhon

Hi,
make sure the badi is completely activated and put a 'break-point' statement in the method calls.

  • BADI testing of code

    Hi,
    I have implemented a 'Z' one for BADI BADI_MATN1.
I have written code in the method MATN1_INPUT_001. Can any one suggest how I can test the code written by me.

    hi,
keep the break point inside it, or break sy-uname.
it will stop near that code.
keep that code in method implementation.

  • Unit tests and QA process

    Hello,
(disclaimer : if you agree that this topic does not really belong to this forum please vote for a new Development Process forum there:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=53&threadID=504658 ;-)
My current organization has a dedicated QA team.
They ensure end-user functional testing but also run and monitor "technical" tests as well.
In particular they would want to run developer-written junit tests as sanity tests before the functional tests.
I'm wondering whether this is such a good idea, and how to handle failed unit tests:
    1) Well , indeed, I think this is a good idea: even if developer all abide by the practice of ensuring 100% of their test pass before promoting their code (which is unfortunately not the case), integration of independant development may cause regression or interactions that make some test fail.
Any reason against QA running junit tests at this stage?
However the next question is, what do they do with failed tests : QA has no clue how important a given unit test is with regard to the whole application.
Maybe a single unit test failed out of 3500 means a complete outage of a 24x7 application. Or maybe 20% of failed tests only means a few misaligned icons...
    2) The developer of the failed package may know, but how can he communicate this to QA?
Javadocing their unit testing code ("This test is mandatory before entering user acceptance") seems a bit fragile.
    Are there recommended methods?
    3) Even the developer of the failed package may not realize the importance of the failure. So what should be the process when unit tests fail in QA?
Block the process until 100% tests pass? Or, start acceptance anyway but notify the developper through the bug tracking system?
    4) Does your acceptance process require 100% pass before user acceptance starts?
Indeed I have ruled out requiring 100% pass, but is this a widespread practice?
I rule it out because maybe the failed test indeed points out a bad test, or a temporary unavailability of a dependent or simulated resource.
This has to be analyzed of course, as tests have to be maintained as well, but this can be a parallel process to the user acceptance (accepting that the software may have to be patched at some point during the acceptance).
    Thank you for your inputs.
    J.

    stage?
Actually running them seems pointless to me.
QA could be interested in the following
    - That unit tests do actually exist
    - That the unit tests are actually being run
    - That the unit tests pass.
This can all be achieved as part of the build process however. It can either be done for every cm build (like automated nightly) or for just for release builds.
This would require that the following information was logged
    - An id unique to each test
    - Pass fail
    - A collection system.
Obviously doing this is going to require more work and probably code than if QA was not tracking it.
However the next question is, what do they do with
failed tests : QA has no clue how important a given
unit test is with regard to the whole application.
Maybe a single unit test failed out of 3500 means a

of failed tests only means a few misaligned icons...
To me that question is like asking what happens if one class fails to build for a release build.
To my mind any unit test failure is logged as a severe exception (the entire system is unusable.)
    2) The developer of the failed package may know, but
how can he communicate this to QA?
Javadocing their unit testing code ("This test is
mandatory before entering user acceptance") seems a
    bit fragile.
Are there recommended methods?Automatic collection obviously. This has to be planned for.
One way is to just log success and failure for each test which is gathered in one or more files. Then a seperate process munges the result file to collect the data.
I know that there is a java build engine (add on to ant or a wrapper to ant) which will do periodic builds and email reports to developers. I think it even allows for categorization so the correct developer gets the correct error.

    I would block it.
    4) Does your acceptance process require 100% pass
    before user acceptance starts?
No. But I am not sure what that has to do with what you were discussing above. I consider unit tests and acceptance testing to be two seperate things.
Indeed I have ruled out requiring 100% pass, but is
    this a widespread practice?
I rule it out because maybe the failed test indeed
points out a bad test, or a temporary unavailability
of a dependent or simulated resource. Then something is wrong with your process.
When you create a release build you should include those things that should be in the release. If they are not done, missing, have build errors, then they shouldn't be in the release.
If some dependent piece is missing for the release build then the build process has failed. And so it should not be released to QA.
I have used version control/debug systems which made this relatively easy by allowing control over which bug/enhancements are included in a release. And of course requiring that anything checked in must be done so under a bug/enhancement. They will even control dependencies as well (the files for bug 7 might require that bug 8 is added as well.)

  • Bad battery, flash blinds camera and lock button broke within 2 weeks. What to do?

The battery was terrible when I first got the phone, it's improved a little but still nothing campred to my 3G.
The camera's flash whites out the screen, seems either a fault of my phone or badly tested. Does anyone else get this?
And, my lock button has broken within 2 weeks of owning the phone.
Should I return the phone? And is anyone else experiencing theese issues?
    I have iPhone 4S.

The Lock button and camera flash problems could actually be manufacturing defects.  I'd take it to the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple store to have the phone checked out.

  • Problem with Hardware Test on Quad G5

I have just set up my new Quad G5 and tried to run a big render task on Final Cut Pro. The task quits every time after a few minutes with no explanation.
I decided to try the Hardware Test to see if I was having memory problems with the 2 1GB modules that I had installed.
I removed everything connected to the computer except the display (20" Studio). The tests seem to load OK but as soon as the opening "Test choice" window comes up I get an error in the bottom left corner of the screen which says:
Warning! Memory leaks numMalloc before 49 numMalloc after 812
    Reboot to reinitialize the heap
    Standalone Diagnostics v24.1.2
So I thought there must be a memory problem, so I removed the 2 new DIMMs and tried again - same problem!
Do I have a bad test disk?

    Hi everyone!
Many thanks for all the helpful suggestions. Here's where I am now.
    I reset the PMU
I downloaded Hardware Monitor (and paid the $8!) and it tells me that everything is normal. For the Quad, this gidget monitors all the fan speeds (7 fans and 2 pumps), all the temperatures (i.e. of all 4 CPU's, logic board, memory controller, HDD, inlet and outlet temps, graphics chip - 11 monitors in all) and CPU voltages and currents.
All fans are running normally, all temps are normal, everything looks fine!
I also did an extensive memory test (using Memtest) to make sure that my extra 2GB did not have a problem.
So...... all I can deduce is that I have a weird error on the hardware test DVD!
I did also solve the other problem with my FCP rendering. I had been using a non-self-contained NTSC HDV movie in the timeline for my down-conversion/standards conversion to PAL SD standard. I found that if I made the movie self-contained it worked fine. I actually think that I might have had some bum references in the non-self-contained version (it makes use of a whole lot of previous render files) because I had transferred all the info from my old G4 and something was probably missing!!!
That's how this whole thing started - the file wouldn't render properly - always stopped after about 10 minutes. It is a very big render - it's a 1 hour 20 min HDV video and will take 45 hours to render on the Quad (over 3 days on the dual G4). I suspected bad memory so tried the hardware test, found the fan error .....etc, etc!
Now I know that everything is good so I can concentrate on my FCP projects.

  • Unable to connect video/audio chat. They are 'declining'

Just this week I am unable to connect to anyone over video or audio chat. An error keeps coming up on both ends that the user is declining the invitation moments after it states it is 'connecting'. I have tried changing the connection ports to 80 and 443. I have tried with multiple buddies and even tried the 'dummy' buddies to test an video connection and get the same error. I am using a Linksys router and have no set up any port forwarding as I have never had to in the past. All other applications run fine (google talk video chat, xbox live, skype, etc) without their ports being forwarded. This has only been happening recently. Hi,
Error 7 is when a router or the connection to the router is broken in some way.
Some devices have features such as Denial Of Service protection (DoS) that cut a particular Internet Port when it thinks too much data is coming (Presuming it is an attack.)
iChat 5 in Leopard is not capped by the System Preferences > Quicktime Streaming speed (which we used to suggest was set at 1.5Mbps)
It now sees your whole Connection speed and your Upload may be much faster than this.
Your Download is likely to be much faster. However iChat will tend to operate at the lower figure of your Upload.
    DoS features are threshold based.
You may now be bumping in to this Threshold where you were not before.
SPI (Stateful packet Inspection) does a different job but has the same effect when it is overloaded by the speed of the data.
If you have either of these features, turn them Off (Disable them)

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Wireless suddenly won't print yellow; no error messages

Is it possible that a printhead needs to be replaced even when Diagnostics Pages all say "Printhead health:  Good"?   I don't have any error messages.  There are no obvious white lines through the colored blocks on test pages.  In a couple of blocks on some test pages, there is one, very fine, barely visible line, but it's not the same on all pages.  (Today I've printed about a dozen test pages of three different kinds that have colored blocks on them, and there are no white lines like the ones shown in examples of bad test results.)   I have used the tool for cleaning the printheads many, many times today and have cleaned at all of the levels.  The ink level in the yellow cartridge is fine, and it's been working well until yesterday and today.
The printing of the five colored blocks on test pages is good, bright, and clear.  The only problem is that the block which is supposed to be a light orange color is only pink, and the block that is supposed to be green is only blue:  they are lacking yellow ink.
I haven't had any problems with the paper I've bought at Staples for six years (I also bought my printer at Staples ).  The printer is six years old but has not been used hard.  I use it regularly for a page or two a few times a week, so the printer isn't sitting idle for weeks at a time.
I read something in "help" information about using a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the nozzle of a new ink cartridge, which didn't apply to my cartridge, but I decided to experiment anyway by pushing a pin through the nozzle of the partially-used, yellow ink cartridge,  The test page I printed after that is the page with just four colored blocks on it rather than the five blocks on a different test page.  This is the only time in two days that the yellow ink has printed.  However, it printed in a wide horizontal band a little streaked with gray in the middle of the block.  Then there are fairly wide white bands (no ink) both above and below the wide yellow/gray streaked band in the middle, and there are very narrow, yellow, horizontal strips  printed along the very top edge and the very bottom edge of the block.  In other words, the sequence of horizontal printing in this block only is:  narrow yellow strip, wide white band, very wide yellow/gray streaked band, wide white band, and narrow yellow strip.
It seems this might mean that some yellow ink actually got through after I'd poked the pin into the center of the nozzle of the partially-used ink cartridge?  However, when I tried printing the same test page again, there was no color, no ink showing at all where the partially-printed, yellow block had been on the previous test page.  There was only a totally blank, white space where the yellow test block was supposed to be.  The blue block, the red/pink block, and the black/gray block all printed well.
When nothing solved the problem of yellow ink not printing, I replaced the partially-used, yellow cartridge with a new yellow cartridge, but that didn't make a difference either:  the yellow ink is still not printing.  Yes, I use genuine HP ink cartridges.  I buy new ones whenever I need them -- never refill them or use any other brand but HP.
I used the alignment tool once to fix some slight wavering in the lines on a test page.  The lines are now perfectly straight.
I apologize for being so wordy, but I wanted to send all of the details that might help diagnose the problem.  I read other questions and answers in the forum about yellow ink not printing, but while there were some similiarities, none of them was 100% exactly like my experience with the problem.  What shall I try now?  Thank you for any suggestions.

    Good day.
Can try the steps in this document?

  • SQL Loader and Floating Point Numbers

    Hi
I have a problem loading floating point numbers using SQL Loader. If the number has more than 8 significant digits SQL Loader rounds the number i.e. 1100000.69 becomes 1100000.7. The CTL file looks as follows
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE '../data/test.csv' "str X'0A'"
    BADFILE '../bad/test.bad'
    APPEND
    INTO TABLE test
FIELDS TERMINATED BY "," OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    Amount CHAR
and the data file as follows
    "100.15 "
    "100100.57 "
    "1100000.69 "
    "-2000000.33"
    "-100000.43 "
    the table defined as follows
    CREATE TABLE test
    Amount number(15,4)
    ) TABLESPACE NNUT050M1;
after loading a select returns the following
    100.15
    100100.57
    1100000.7
    -2000000
    -100000.4
    Thanks in advance
    Russell

Actually if you format the field to display as (say) 999,999,999.99, you will see the correct numbers loaded via SQL Loader.

I checked all the restrictions on the KF. 2 KFs are restricted by the same KF (Condition Base Value I ) .
Other than that for KF Total Target Actual Val restrictions are on Condition Type, Matierial Group 3. And for the KF BIO Actual Val restrictions are Red Group For Rebate.
I checked the data @ Infoprovider level for both the Good and Bad Test Cases. And found that for the Bad Test Case, if i give the input for Red Group for Rebate charactoristic there is no blank records are showing and where as if i will not give the input for Red Group for Rebate there are some blank records are showing up and adding those blank records.
Where as for the Good Test Case even if i provided the input for Red Group for Rebate or not, there is no blank records are showing up and in the report both the KFs are showing the equal values itself..
user requirement is at the report level both the KFs must be equal.
Here in the above up to now what i have done,  i have provided the information.
requesting all, kindly give me the reply how can i solve this issue. Expecting more and more bright suggestions .
    Thanks,
    SN.

Just a quick question. Have you restricted your KFs unnecessarily? Are the semantic keys valid if debited? Like, sometimes the clearing doc #s are no entered for a open po# and necessary for a closed one. In such case, have you checked if the semantic key is correctly defined? Cubes must help you aggregate data & reflect them within one line item as in your case.

  • Notes on Sql Developer - Importing - XLS

This isn't really a question, but I thought I should get the record of my tribulations posted so someone else won't have to work as hard as I did.
Please note when using import in sql dev - first, the file MUST be a xls formated BINARY file. I received a file with the extension xls, but it was actually a tab delimited csv, and the only message import gave me was : 'an error has occurred' , and then a stack trace with :
java.io.IOException: Invalid header signature; read 664572811392150337, expected -2226271756974174256
         at org.apache.poi.poifs.storage.HeaderBlockReader
A ascii csv would cause this since it doesn't have the binary header. Incidentally, poi is a java (apache) library for reading microsoft file formats.

You can try changing the column in the excel to general datatype before you attempt to load using sql developer.
    alternate way...
You can save the excel file as .csv file. Once saved you should be able to use the sql*loader to load the data.
    the sqlldr command for online
    sqlldr userid control=test.ctl log=test.log bad=test.bad data=test.csv discard=test.txt
the test.ctl should be as follows
    load data
    infile 'test.csv'
    into table constraint_chk
    fields terminated by ','
    (column1 char(10),
    column2 date,
    column3 number) ;
please let me know, if you need more info...

  • Can we run java bean from forms client server??

    Hi,
The OLTP application we are planning to build has lot of gui e.g
tabs, drag and drop etc. Our aim is to make it web enabled but
the network bandwidth available is small 16 - 64K . So even
thoughwe plan toi use applet , we seriuosly doubt how good it
will perform on such low network bandwidth. [The system will
    have 100 users]
Q1. What will be a reasonable bandwidth to run an oltp
    application (say maintenance )
Hence we are thinking of developing with developer 6i and
deploying our application in client server mode, which can
easily be web enabled in future. But we also have to integrate
visual interfaces like gantt chart, which are not available with
forms. We plan to use third party java component (e.g ILOG
jviews), so that in future we can easily web enable the entire
    application.
Q2. Can we run forms with java bean in client server mode? If
not, what are the products to be installed on each machine to
    run it without using 9ias?
    best regards

Yes. We can run sql loader from client machine.
    C:\Karthik>sqlldr user/pass@database data='test.csv' control='test.ctl' log='test.log' bad='test.bad'

  • Clustering with wl 6.1 - Questions Part II

    Again, here's the setup:
              Admin: 192.168.1.135:7001 (XP). Cluster address:192.168.1.239, 192.168.1.71
              managed server 1: 192.168.1.239:7001 (SunOS)
              managed server 2: 192.168.1.71:7001 ('98)
I have a single SLSB deployed on the cluster. The deployment descriptor
has been configured to stateless clustering. The bean has a single method
(returnMessage(String msg)) that accepts the strings and returns it.
A standalone java client acesses the cluster by specifying the JNDI URL
"t3://192.168.1.71, 192.168.1.239:7001" and works properly. The java client
does a JNDI lookup once, caches the home reference and call home.create in
              an infinite loop.
              1. After reading one of the posts here, I physically restarted one of the
machines in the cluster (192.168.1.71). The java client was stuck for a 4 *
30 secs. The managed server whose network cable I yanked out kept showing
the following message every 30 secs (as the docs say):
              <25/08/2002 13:52:21> <Error> <Cluster> <Multicast socket receive error:
              java.io.InterruptedIOException: Receive timed out
              java.io.InterruptedIOException: Receive timed out
              at java.net.PlainDatagramSocketImpl.receive(Native Method)
              at java.net.DatagramSocket.receive(DatagramSocket.java:392)
              at weblogic.cluster.FragmentSocket.receive(FragmentSocket.java:145)
              at
              weblogic.cluster.MulticastManager.execute(MulticastManager.java:293)
              at weblogic.kernel.ExecuteThread.execute(ExecuteThread.java:137)
              at weblogic.kernel.ExecuteThread.run(ExecuteThread.java:120)
justthe way it should be (hopefully)! Now, the real fun started when i put
the cord back. The admin server should have detected that the managed
server, right (The console should show the managed server as "Running" in
the "Servers" tab)? Wrong, it doesn't! Why?
              2. I restarted the weblogic server on 192.168.1.71 and sure enough, it
joined the cluster. After it joined the cluster, the last line of
              "weblogic.log" is:
              ####<Aug 25, 2002 2:15:53 PM PDT> <Info> <Management> <DUMMY135> <wlsdomain>
              <ExecuteThread: '8' for queue: 'default'> <system> <> <140009>
<Configuration changes for domain saved to the repository.>
And the "wl-domain.log" ("domain" is the name of my domain) has the last
              entry as:
              ####<Aug 25, 2002 1:43:56 AM PDT> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <dummy71>
              <dummy71> <ExecuteThread: '14' for queue: 'default'> <system> <> <000332>
<Started WebLogic Managed Server "dummy71" for domain "domain" running in
              Development Mode>
The last few lines on the console window of the managed server (dummy71)
              shows:
              Starting Cluster Service ....
              <25/08/2002 14:13:55> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <ListenThread listening on
              port 7001, ip address 192.168.1.71>
              <25/08/2002 14:13:56> <Notice> <Cluster> <Listening for multicast messages
(cluster wlcluster) on port 7001 at address 237.0.0.1>
              <25/08/2002 14:13:56> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <Started WebLogic Managed
Server "dummy71" for domain "domain" running in Development Mode>
2.1 I presume the "Configuration changes for domain saved to repository"
              indicates weblogic changed "cofig.xml"?
2.2 Why would it update config.xml?
2.3 Where is the entry in the logs to indicate that dummy71 joined the
              cluster?
2.4 dummy71 joined the cluster at 14:13:56 while the admin server has
the entry at 1:43:56 AM PDT. Why is there a timezone mentioned in
"wl-domain.log"? Further investigation found out that time zone on the admin
server was Pacific (US). Changed it to GMT+5:30 (so its the same on both),
restarted weblogic on dummy71. Again, the logs mention PDT on the admin
server, while there is no mention of the time zone on the managed server?
Strange! Finally, the system clock on admin server shows 3:01 PM, while
weblogic is about an hour behind in a different time zone (the last entry in
the logs now has the timestamp Aug 25, 2002 2:02:14 AM PDT).
              3. Finally, i had modified my config.xml to add the following:
              <ServerDebug DebugCluster="true"
              DebugClusterAnnouncements="true"
              DebugClusterFragments="true" DebugClusterHeartbeats="true"
              Name="dummy239"/>
I added the lines above for both the servers in the cluster to take a look
at the chatter between the admin server and the managed servers
(specifically the "heartbeat" every 30 seconds, the synchronization of
clustered services (emphasis on EJB and JNDI)). Are the entries above
correct and in the right place? If yes, what log files do i check for this?
Can anyone tell me a sample message to look for (assuming this chatter is
recorded in weblogic.log or wl-domain.log (the two log files i have)) so I
can verify the same in my logs (and probably learn something from them
              With Warm Regards,
              Manav.

BTW - when I said "bad test", I didn't mean you should not do it, but rather
that it is a "worst case scenario" (and something that BEA should be testing

  • Allow restricted attachments in OWA

    Hello!
I'm using Exchange 2013 without Edge and need to allow .cer attachments in OWA.
    I add them using posh
    Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -BlockedFileTypes @{Remove = ".cer"}
    Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedFileTypes @{Add = ".cer"}
    Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedMimeTypes @{Add = "application/pkix-cert”}
    Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedMimeTypes @{Add = "application/x-x509-ca-cert”}
and restarted CAS server, but no luck - cer attachments still unavailable in OWA.
    how to allow it?
    thanks.

my bad - test user has another OWA policy =(
changing to Default solve this issue.

  • Hi abaper

can any one suggest me the simple procedure to create a simple badi.its urgent
    thanks

    Hi
    What are BAdIs?
    •     is an anticipated point of extension – these points act like sockets and exist in the original source code
    •      based on ABAP Objects. BAdI defines an interface that can be implemented by BAdI-implementations that are transport objects of their own
    •      Important! There are 2 roles: Enhancement Option-provider & Implementer.
    •      In the above context, Enhancement Implementation can be done only if option (hook) is provided by the Option-provider. In simple words there are no implicit BAdIs.
Note: In the following slides, Definitions are created so as to understand the method of BAdI definition & for example purpose. As stated above this is the role of Enhancement Option-Provider.
Classic BAdIs already exist since SAP Release 4.6
BAdIs have been Re-implemented in ECC7.0 under the new Enhancement Framework & Switch Framework
    Classic BAdIs
    •     To understand what a powerful pattern a BAdI is, we will now define & then implement a BAdI
    BADI Class is created automatically.
The various options are described below in detail:
    1. Enhanceable: Enhanceability of filter types can only be specified for filter-dependent BADI definitions under very special conditions. For example, the domain belonging to the filter type must be linked with a value table that is of the type E or G. A BADI implementation can then be created in one step by creating a new filter value that is automatically entered into the value table at save and also copied into the transport order of the BADI implementation. In addition, it is also possible to create a new filter value and, at the same time, a BADI implementation with the same name. Naturally, you can also specify existing filter values.
You should select this feature if there is a prerequisite that a new filter value is created together with a new BADI implementation - that is, that BADI implementations are not created solely with existing filter values, although this, too, is possible.
    2. Multiple-Use
    3. Filter-Dependent
Instance Methods can access all of the attributes of a class and can trigger all events of a class. Static Methods can only access static attributes and static events.
Adding event handling & exception(s) is not a necessary step…

    Events:
Events can be defined in classes or in interfaces. Corresponding methods can trigger these events with the RAISE EVENT statement. Each class (or interface) that is going to handle the corresponding event must implement a relevant handler method, and register it using the SET HANDLER statement. When an event occurs, the system calls all of the handler methods registered for that event.
Like method definitions, events have a parameter interface. The only difference is that events may only have EXPORTING parameters.

    Implementation for SAP provided BAdI…
    Roles: (BADI Definition & Implementation)
    •     Developer: Enhancement (BAdI) Option-Implementer
    •     SAP: Option-Provider
BAdI as a ‘controlled’ Enhancement Option:
    •     Option-provider defines the interface and limits the implementer to the class that the implements the BAdI
    •     Assured that BAdI implementer can only change the parameters handed over to the BAdI by the option provider
    Steps:
    1.     Search for the BAdI corresponding to the transaction
    2.     Create a custom Implementation for the BAdI by adding code in the appropriate method
    3.     Test that the method with custom code is invoked on executing the transaction.
Create Material using MM01. Copy from existing Material.
    Select the required views.
Enter mandatory data and click on Save.
Check the Exit Name ‘BADI_MATERIAL_CHECK’. This is the BAdI we are going to implement.

BAdIs…in the new Enhancement Framework (ECC 6.0)
    •     How the new BAdIs differ from the Classic BAdI?
    •      Good news is that…basic thing about the BAdI remains the same!
    •      Differ in the manner in which new BAdI is embedded in the container-structure of the Enhancement Framework
    •      Better performance & Lower Memory consumption
    •      Evaluates as much information as possible during compile time
    •      40-600 times faster than Classic BAdIs
    •      Internal handle-class integrated in the SAP Kernel
    •      Provides ‘switchable’ implementation(s) through use of Switch Framework
    •      Special optimizations with ‘GET BADI’ & ‘CALL BADI’ (new ABAP commands)
    •      Implementation Inheritance
Usage of old (classic) BAdIs versus New BAdIs…
    •     Two new ABAP commands for the new BAdI:
    •      GET BADI  : all active implementations are selected and the method of BAdI is called (amounts to a loop with different method calls in it)
Enhancement Spot as a container for BAdI…
    •     Enhancement Framework has containers for BAdI implementations as well

  • Stabilize not applying correction to video?

I am having issues with Stabilize in Motion 5. I have added a couple of trackers and run the analysis and Motion generates the motion vectors on screen. However, when I play back it appears the motion vectors are not being applied to the video - the video shakes just as much as it did before, and you can see the motion tracking overlay still showing the motion vectors. Am I missing something obvious here? How do I actually get Stabilize to stop the shaking?

First of all, I must confess that I have not used Stabilize very much at all. It usually works great with the default: add + analyze (no trackers.)  So, I found one of the worst clips I could find and tried out various things with it and I have to admit, ***your problems are EASILY reproduceable***
PLUS, in Motion 5, once you get a bad track you will never get a good one!!! not in the same project no matter how many times you delete and re-add a Stabilize behavior.  On that bad test clip I used, I got a good track ONCE. Then I Added (not duplicated) a new copy of the same clip and tried using a tracker. The track is perfect, the playback just moves the entire video around like it's a Match Move on the track. Tried deleting the tracker; Analyze again, and it's stuck with the same movement that went with the tracker. Tried deleting the retiming cache (it's used for Optical flow and other motion things) and nothing.  [Meanwhile, rechecking the original perfectly stabilized *same* clip originally imported "new" — still perfectly stabilized — to add insult to injury, if I use the tracker data (that is, if I put the first clip in the drop well) from this clip in the 2nd import clip - the stabilization is exactly the same on the 2nd clip... which is completely pointless if you can't get the "right" stabilization to begin with!] [PS- by "perfectly" I mean it's the best possible stabilization I could hope for: most of the clip was rock solid, but high jitter/jerk areas still had some "blips" in it -- lined up fine -- but a quick re-scale kind of thing -- it was a really bad clip ]
Went into Motion 4. I didn't like the way Stabilize trackers worked for my test, deleted them, re-Analyzed with no tracker: WORKED PERFECTLY. No matter what I did to mess up the stabilization on purpose - I could always delete the trackers and re-Analyze without having to delete and replace the behavior - and start over again like I had just added the behavior. Motion 4 worked like you would expect it to.
So... I would have to say that Stabilize is YET ANOTHER BROKEN SOMETHING IN MOTION 5!
But back to your problem.  If you have Motion 4, use it to stabilize your video, export (as prores) and import into your Motion 5 project. If you don't have Motion 4... Open a brand new project; import your clip; Add Stabilize (NO TRACKERS); cross your fingers. If you get a good stabilization, export it out for future use.
By all means, let Apple know of this problem via the Provide Motion Feedback menu item under Motion.
Your specific questions: I would say if you have Motion 4, you could use the tracking region in that way, but I tried it in M5 and the Region is also a tracker and that will mess up the stabilization. If you only have M5, create a new project, import your clip, add the levels and adjust it for a "bit" more detail, add the Stabilize and Analyze only. You basically get one shot to get it right... per project per clip (maybe that's pushing it). Even in Motion 4, if the clip is in pretty bad shape, Stabilize does its best to get "most" of the clip right— so you may have to opt trimming out pieces that won't stabilize as well [in my experience, most often, that will be at the beginning and the end when you make contact with the camera to both start and stop recording, or to zoom.] You might also consider trimming the ends of the clip a bit beforehand as well because, no matter how you line up the clilp in the timeline, Motion analyzes the *entire clip*, no matter what!
Anybody else notice the lack of a Motion 5.0.2 update when FCPX 10.0.2 came out?? I'm still waiting. Every day I check— at least 3 times. M5 must be really badly damaged to be taking this long (and I have found A LOT of problems with it... most of which won't affect the average user... but stil!)
