Allow restricted attachments in OWA

Hello!
I'm using Exchange 2013 without Edge and need to allow .cer attachments in OWA.
I add them using posh
Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -BlockedFileTypes @{Remove = ".cer"}
Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedFileTypes @{Add = ".cer"}
Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedMimeTypes @{Add = "application/pkix-cert”}
Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -AllowedMimeTypes @{Add = "application/x-x509-ca-cert”}
and restarted CAS server, but no luck - cer attachments still unavailable in OWA.
how to allow it?
thanks.

my bad - test user has another OWA policy =(
changing to Default solve this issue.

  • Open attachments in OWA without saving first?

We're migrating to Exchange 2013 from 2010. In the past we were able to open attachments in OWA with with extension .pff, now we having to save first.
I've added that file extension to set-owamailboxpolicy, but not luck. What am I missing?

In addition to set-owamailboxpolicy I needed to run set-owavirtualdirectory and add the file type there as well.
Set-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "ServerName\owa (Default Web Site)" -AllowedFileTypes '.pff'

  • Something conflicting with Adobe Flash that won't allow email attachments in gmail

Something conflicting with Adobe Flash that won't allow email attachments in gmail
I have been speaking with senior techs in the google forum, and they suggested I post here.  There is something about my computer settings or security software is  conflicting with Adobe Flash.
I did a clean install of both Flash 10 and Firefox 3.5.7 (I uninstalled the previous versions).
The problem is with gmail.  I get the error message when  attaching files:
"Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or  firewall."
    Any ideas???
    Using Firefox 3.5.7
    Using MAC  OS 10.4.11
    Using Flash 10
I do not have security software, proxy or firewall settings.
I started a question in these forums:
    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?fid=791ff1130e2fc23100047e95d237082a&hl =en

So if your not using a Flash app, not running a flash program, and you are using a browser on a remote mailserver, why would you think Flash is the issue?
Secondly if you are not using the Flash CS3/4 program somewhere in the loop, than you would be better served in the Flash Player forum, this is a Flash Developers forum. Sounds more like gmail may use some flash components to display something, but should not have an effect on file transfer unless your Flash settings deny it. You have to allow local content from being run with active x/flash.

  • Need to synch calendar and contacts, but also open attachments with OWA

I have a client with a Tour 9630.  They are using Exchange 2007 so we cannot use BES or BPS on that server (their only one).
His biggest gripe using the redirector was that he could not open attachments.  After doing some digging, I found out that you cannot open attachments unless you are using the BIS service and connecting through OWA.
SO...fought the authentication issues since they have a self-signed certificate on their Exchange box...turned off all the authentication and woila..OWA worked like a charm.
NOW, though, his contacts and calendar no longer synch since he is just hitting the OWA mail!
Is there a way to enable opening attachments while still synching calendar and contacts?
I turned off redirector on the pc since OWA was working.
If I turn the redirector back on to keep the synch going, will he get duplicates of mail?

I've gotten this 4403 error before, and somehow resolved it without knowing how.
THIS TIME, however, I  tried turning off the synch on my Documents-To-Go, and that fixed things.
Checking on other discussions on the internet regarding this "Protocol Error: Too many files. (4403)", I'm seeing a pattern of Documents-To-Go when resident apps are listed, which seems to tentatively confirm my conclusion. The obvious implication here is that one or more versions of Docs-To-Go have a conflict with something in one or more versions of the Palm OS, and/or other 3rd party apps.
I've be interested in whether this works in other users' experiences.

  • Allow restricted user to change Proxy Settings

I have an OS X 10.4.11 MacBook Pro that has 2 accounts. One local administrator account and one restricted Network mobile account authenticating against an LDAP domain. All users are required to go through a proxy to get out to the internet. The proxy is not accessible outside our network. This means the proxy settings have to be change when the user takes his laptop out of the office. However since the user has a restricted account he does not have permission to change the proxy information.
Is there away I can allow this user to change the proxy settings or even change a Network Location with out giving him administrator privileges.?

Hi msaner, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Haven't found the answer just yet, but...

  • Mail not allowing image attachments

I have a client who was on 10.2.8 using Mail. All of a sudden (no change made to the machine) Mail started saying that attachments that were images were being downloaded, but not able to be seen in the email (the attachments list it as being there but you can not access it.)
The same thing is evident with a new user account as well.
I eventually decided to do an archive & install of 10.3.5 (not preserving users or network settings). I dropped his Mail folder back in and tested it - same problem. I did an update to Quicktime 7 (7.04) and he could recieve image attachments from himself, and from PC users - just not from Mac users!
It looks like something is changing the content-type of the image attachments. Here is the (abreviated version of the email - i cut out the image source) source for the email:

    Aaron,
    Let me recap:
The problem with any image attachment is seen in the client's Mac and Mail program, regardless of the Incoming Server? You proved this by setting your account up, using Mail operating on his Mac, and image attachments were prevented?
Did you examine the messages in Raw Source view, by any chance? If so, did you see any of the expected attachment headers within the body?
Is the message consistent for containing the attachment?
Although not known to me, for this problem, the thought of font issues come to mind, but I think the Raw Source view would let you get around that. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to examine and confirm all fonts. See:

  • Help! Comcast not allowing email attachments in Safari

Hope someone can help solve this! Comcast has just changed the way you attach files to emails, and it doesn't work in Safari. When you click on "attach files" in the compose email window, you're taken to a new window where you select the files you want to attach -- but there it stops working. The system does work in Explorer, so clearly they didn't test it with Safari, or just decided to go forward without us. Has anyone had any luck resolving this? It just started yesterday.
Is there another web-based email system I can use with Comcast? Desperately don't want to switch to Explorer -- and I have noticed that Explorer crashes now everytime I try to use Comcast mail (even though attachments are working). Maybe a Mac/Comcast issue?
G4 Ibook   Mac OS X (10.3.5)   using wifi to connect online

    Comcast is not the most
Mac-friendly company out there. However, there have
been improvements that make Macs work better with
their site, but basically they are not conforming to
    accepted html/xhmtl standards.
As far as the javascript problem, you could try
    either Camino or Firefo
x which are not as finicky with non-standard
coding of web pages as Safari is.
Well, I did a little more fiddling around, and now it seems to boil down to this: in both Firefox and Safari, I have to disable Java/Javascript to write responses in e-mail, and I have to enable them to add attachments. If I want the "move to folder", delete, and "previous/next" buttons to work, then I need Java/Javascript active. I have been reduced to manually switching and refreshing my pages in Comcast mail in order to accommodate this "new, improved" service.
The most frustrating part of all of this is that Comcast is a virtual monopoly in my area, and I teach a web-based class, so I need the speed. (But that's not the issue, just a gripe).
Is there any technician at Apple who can explain the conflict to Comcast, so that they can add an additional "improvement" so that my e-mail comes through without extraneaous numbers and symbols, in the place of spaces and formatting?

  • Airport Utility Timed Access Control does not allow/restrict access to wireless clients per the time set.

I have been trying to setup Timed Access Control in Airport Utility and it does not seem to be working correctly.
In Airport Utility from Edit Timed Access Control I Enter a name for my device (iPad/iPhone any device), enter my mac address, set time for Everyday and use default Between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, save and then update. When I go to my device iPad iPhone etc. I still have access even when it is after the time set, 5:00PM.  If I set no access it will restrict access also I set a time between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM and access was restricted.  It doesnt seem to matter what the device is.  I know that the MAC Adress is set correctly.  It seems like an issue with the Utility, possibly time miss match or something.  Not sure if I am missing something or if this Utility just has flaws. Please Help.

I changed the default to (no access) and set an entry for my test device (an iPad) to "Everyday Between 9am to 5pm.  The iPad was still able to gain access to the network.
Something else to note, if I try to edit the time of an entry it gives me an error on my MBP "Invalid value", "The value for “Timed Access Control” is invalid."  This happens even if I delete a digit (number or letter in the time field) and replace with the exact same. Not sure if the two are related. I have tried to edit access from my iPad.  I don't get any errors but I still don't get the expected results.  I called Apple to try and get Tech support but they were not much help. Thanks again.

  • Did Apple update Mail in iOS8 to allow image attachments?

A feature that's been surprisingly lacking for years. Did they fix this or do you can you only send images out of Photos?
    Not seeing anything.

IOS 7 and iOS 8 have had the feature within an email where you can just Tap and Hold your finger within the body of the email and when the popup comes up Tap the right-most selection "More,,," and then you can select the Photo choice and it will automatically take you to your photos and let you select the photo or photos you would like to send.  Some folks have talked about not being able to add "Photo Attachments" because the actual Photo / s sent show up within the email as it is opened.

  • OWA Users cannot access .snp attachments

One of my user complains none of the user can access or download .SNP (MS Access Snapshot File) attachments from OWA 2013. When a user clicks on the attachment they get the warning message "Access to this Attachment is blocked. Recipients may not be
able to view the attachment, either."
But the same file is easily accessible from Outlook.
I have tried Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -Identity OwaMailboxPolicy-Default -AllowedFileTypes ".snp" and restarted the IIS Service but no luck!
Do I need to have Office Web App Server to be able to download these .SNP files? Is there any way around to allow such files in OWA out of the box?

    Hi,
I recommend you should check the owavirtualdirectory also with the following command:
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "ServerName\owa (Default Web Site)" |fl name,server,*FileTypes
If no .snp type, you should to add it.
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "ServerName\owa (Default Web Site)" -AllowedFileTypes  @{add = ".SNP"}
The following article for your reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123515.aspx
    AllowedFileTypes
    The
AllowedFileTypes parameter   specifies the extensions of file types that the user can save locally and   view from a web browser. If the same extensions are in multiple settings   lists, the most secure setting overrides the less secure
    settings.
To enter multiple values and overwrite   any existing entries, use the following syntax:
<value1>,<value2>.... If the values contain spaces or otherwise require   quotation marks, you need to
    use the following syntax: "<value1>","<value2>"....
To add or remove one or more   values without affecting any existing entries, use the following syntax:
    @{Add="<value1>","<value2>"...;   Remove="<value1>","<value2

  • TS1506 Sometimes .eml attachments open and sometimes they don't. Is there a setting to allow them to open?

I have a user that has an iPhone 4s and he cannot open emails that have .eml extensions. I have the latest iPad and we have tried two different messages with an .eml extension and one opens or is viewable when I tap to open the email and the other just shows the attachment at the bottom and when I tap the attachment I get the following message: Mail cannot open this attachment with just OK as option. Is there a setting to allow .eml attachments to open? Why would it be intermittent? THe emails are from two different people. Is it the way they are sending them?

From what I can tell a .eml file is an extension used by Microsoft Outlook. There's plenty of support for this file type on Windows & OS X but on iOS the built-in Mail app seems to have limited support for it.
There is an app on the AppStore than claims to have full support for the .eml extnesion but it's rated a 3 out of 5 so it doesn't seem to work perfectly for everyone. Check the reviews & see if it might be what you're looking for:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/klammer-open-eml-msg-winmail.dat/id386777877?mt=8 &ign-mpt=uo%3D4
If I may I'd like to inquire as to what kind of information your user is sending you; why is it critical that you open an .eml file?
Can the user perform a Copy+Paste of the .eml file's content into a new email to you?
Generally you get a .eml as the result of a "Forward as Attachment" using Outlook, maybe doing a standard Forward would alleviate this issue?

    Thx,
    -Scot

    Hi Scot,
Providing some information on Poison Queue:
The poison message queue is a special queue that's used to isolate messages that are determined to be harmful to the Exchange system after a transport server or service failure.
The messages may be genuinely harmful in their content and format.
Alternatively, they may be the results of a poorly written agent that has caused the Exchange server to fail when it processed the supposedly bad messages.
The poison message queue is typically empty. If the poison message queue contains no messages it doesn't appear in Queue Viewer or
Get-Queue results. The messages in the poison message queue are never automatically resumed or expired. Messages remain in the poison message queue until they're manually resumed or removed by an administrator.
According to the description above, I suspect Outlook 2007 changed the email's format when send email with attachment. The reason as below:
If the original email's (with attachment) content or format is harmful to the Exchange 2007 server, it will go to the Poison Queue when sending via OWA. However it didn't, sending via OWA is perfect. So I suspect it is an issue on the Outlook 2007
    client side.
Please using Pipeline Tracing to verify whether there is something changed during transmission.
More details in the following article:
Using Pipeline Tracing to Diagnose Transport Agent Problems
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125198(v=exchg.80).aspx
If it is convenient, I suggest doing following tests to narrow down this issue:
Note: Same content, same attachment, same format.
    1. Please using Outlook 2010/2013 or others' Outlook clients for testing.
    2. Please change to another format for testing. More details in the following article:
Change the message format to HTML, Rich Text, or plain text

  • Restricting SRM attachments

    Hi
we are trying to restrict attachments to shopping carts/PO's by file size and to specific file types.
Is there a badi that can raise an error when loading attachments for programable criteria
    or
is there an area of config that controls this
    thanks

    Hi,
I think you can do this in BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI.....
Call BBP_PD_SC_GETDETAIL in the function module using the guid and in the export parameters there is a table called ET_ATTACH. You can see all the details of the file in this table.
    Hope this helps.

  • Drag and Drop Attachments

Does anybody know what allows/restricts the feature to drag and drop attachments onto email ?
I used to use this all the time, then suddenly a few month ago, couldn't. i have tried myself to figure out why, without success.
I am using BT Yahoo Mail through IE11.0 on Windows 7. IE is set to 'auto-update' so something may have been reset, but i cant figure out what that might be.
Attachment though the paperclip icon works OK.
More mysteriously, my laptop uses the same setup but drag and drop still works OK on that !
    Any ideas please ?
    thanks
    John
