Banner Design

I am looking to create a banner with images that fade in and
out. The problem that I have is that I only want the banner to load
once. I am using pure HTML to code to the page and just include the
flash swf file in the specific file eg index.html. I don't want to
create the entire site in Flash, only the banner.
Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there an easier
method?

I got the paper size correct, in other words I am able to create a banner on screen HOWEVER, unlike MS Publisher, I cannot get it to print correctly. MS Pub creates banners using a tile print feature in either portrait or landscape using standard paper sizes, A4, Letter, Legal, etc.
I have tried printing on a number of printers, HP 7280, Oki c5300n, Canon 4690 to no avail. Does anyone know how to get it to PRINT a banner using tiled/multiple sheets of standard sized paper?

How do I save a large banner design (108" X 18") in PSD or PDF?

I design custom banners which include both text and images and have no problem saving my files as PSDs or PDFs as long as I stay under 96" wide. The minute I go wider, CS4 no longer gives me all my normal options, instead it gives me TIF, PSB, Photoshop RAW, or DICOM. I usually try to give my banner production house files that are not undersized as I don't want to have all the edges aliased and jaggy. Especially photographic portions of the banner. Is there a size limitation with CS4 Photoshop regarding saving in "normal" file formats? Typically I give my production house 300dpi PDFs and it works out great.

Thanks for your input. Mike... you're essentially saying I should downsize the artwork slightly and then reload into AI and convert to PDF after resizing. I have the full CS4 package although I confess that as a 15-year CorelDraw user, I never got into AI LOL... and now that I'm retired and doing these projects to keep the grey matter sharp... I don't know if I have the courage to try and convert my brain from CorelDraw to AI. But anyhow, your idea sounds like a do-able approach, certainly worth trying.
Gator... I honestly don't know for sure. I know they want artwork in 300dpi, and it should be in PDF or AI or CDR (CorelDraw) formats. And as much as I like CD for Vector work, Iequally love PS for general work... in fact, I probably use PS more than CD these days. I never bothered much with Corel's PhotoPaint even though I've been to Corel Seminars in the past. I will talk to my guys and see what they do before printing.

Banner Design in CS5

Hello everyone! I am designing an outdoor vinyl banner in Photoshop using a template provided by the printer. Although they accept JPEGs, the preferred file format is PSD, so I'd like to provide my artwork in that format. My problem is that I can't get it small enough! The file size limit is 12 MB, and my file is in the mid 20s! I've flattened the layers. I don't know what else to do. I admit that I am totally incompetent when it comes to graphics programs. Any help -- in plain English! -- would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Alright here is what I have found that is relatively easy to do and works perfect.
Design based on smallest size e.g. 1024x768 of course with mine.
Enter the following CSS in the tags obviously
This sets the page to cover all sizes.
In Flash build the app for 1024X768 and then in publish settings change to No Scale and to Percent instead of Pixel 100% and 100% which still does nothing and I have to edit the code manually in Dreamweaver but when I do so in dreamweaver it works perfectly. Oh and I also change the Flash Only option to Allow Full Screen which I don't think I had to do but went ahead and did it. Now the
Flash app that I designed has its transparencies and covers 100% of any of the following browsers that I have viewed it in 1024X768, 1280x1024, and finally 1600X1200 which is what I design in currently.
So that is what I have did to get it to work. LOL did not want to use other languages if I could have used just actionscript but looks as if flash and actionscript still require help from HTML5/CSS3 and PHP/JavaScript.

Flash banner design

hello everyone!
I have a nasty problem: the flash banner I designed doesn't
perform the way it should. Once customers are clicking on it, it
doesn't take them to the url. Is there a setting in Flash which

Image interpolation & plastic banner design 6x8 feet

Hi,
I'm interested if anyone could give me some tips on setting up a photoshop file for a plastic banner that will be approx 6ft x 8 ft. I have have photos that are original size of 11 x 14 inches - is it protocol to start with this size of a photo and interpolate up to a larger size ie: 6ft x 8 ft?
How small of an image can you start with (at 300 dpi) to interpolate - and how high can you go? What is typical / standard working practice?
What's the typical resolution needed for a plastic banner?

Yes. I've done billboards with smaller files. Once you get into it there is no "protocol" per se. Trust your eyes, if you blow it up and it stinks then you might need to rethink the design.

You are not going to need that much resolution for the project you are working on and different images res up differently. If you start with something that's soft to begin with and/or contains jpeg artifacts then it doesn't blow up as well as a really sharp uncompressed image.

What I would do is create the canvas and then just drag the photo onto it - then transform it until you are satisfied but don't press return, take note of what percentage you are enlarging it and then just press escape. You can delete that layer. Go back to the original image and image size it up that percentage and make sure you use bicubic smoother as the algorithm. Then copy that to the canvas. That's about as good as it gets unless you get into plug-ins that are written specifically to up res. Although for me I don't see a big improvement over bicubic smoother.

Communication with the printer is key in doing large format. Ask them what resolution they are looking for, it will vary depending on how close people are going to be to the piece. My guess is around 75ppi, but talk to them before you begin.

Use eps files in a 2' x 6' banner designed in CS2 Illustrator.

I have two eps files (logos) I'd like to use in a 2' x 6' banner. The rest of the banner will use text. How can I incorporate these eps files? I'm using CS2 Illustrator. Thanks for your help.

If the .eps artwork is vector, there should be no resolution issue (depending on possible raster effects/images contained).
You can see whether it is raster or vector when you select (an embedded version of) it. Vector will appear as other vector artwork.
Is Anti-Aliased ticked in the Edit>Preferences>General?
Concerning the pixelation/usability, you may judge by using different zoom levels.
You may ask the recipient about resolution.

Logo and banner design

Hello,
I am looking for a software most suitable to design logos and banners. Is inDesign what I am looking for? Or maybe should I take a look at things like Illustrator or Photoshop?

There is no one program that will do everything. Adobe applications are professional level tools designed to be used together.
That’s why they are sold together in suites. That said, if you only want to buy one application you’d probably be best off with Illustrator.
Keep in mind, however, that these applications do have quite a learning curve and that buying only one is like a carpenter only have a saw with no hammers, screwdrivers or other tools.

How do I change the banner design at the top by the toolbars?

I have autumn leaves up there now, but I cannot remember how I set that up! I thought it was Yahoo Themes, but that didn't change it, it just changed the Yahoo portion of the page. thank you for your help with this!

You might know this: I used to be able to edit pictures that I saved in My Pictures, but then all of a sudden, it said I couldn't because there was no file association and that I should change my folder options, but I never could figure out how to do it. Multiple rollovers in banner

Hi,
I'm using DWCS3 and have the words I want to turn into
Navigation links as part of my banner design. If I turn them into
hotspots they will work as links but the only way the user can tell
they are links is the arrow turning to a hand. How can I turn each
individual word into a link where something happens when the mouse
makes contact? Is it possible to have multiple rollover effects on
different parts of one banner image??

How to load and play Flash Slideshow or banner on CS5 Flash player 10.1

The Flash Player 10.1 supports CS5, so the flash slideshow or flash banner designed by CS3 or CS4 can not be loaded or played normally.

DB Design help

I created the following tables keeping in mind that there could be more than one banner for advertisement from one company and one banner could be charged/advertised more than once with passage of time

See, as you have designed the DB, Check the its satisfies the Upto 3rd Normal Form, Next, try to populate the enough test scenarios data with respect End user point of view where you cover the all Scenarios with respect to the Business Requirement. So that Design must persists and Whether the Design in going to retreive the data / Queries with respect the reports (Application Perspective). Test it these things it will be standard.

Animated gif from InDesign CS5

I am trying to animate 4 pages (of text and graphics) so they appear 1 at a time in an never ending loop in InDesign so I can export and create and animated GIF for a web banner.
The only way I have managed to do it so far is to group the text and graphics on each page, copy pages 2, 3, 4 onto page 1. Layer them on top of each other, animate them to appear 1 at a time by delaying the timing a second for each.
But I can't get it to work as a loop. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

ziggy - have you found any more about it - its ridiculous that you can have pretty good animation presets and create great looking flash animations that than you can't do anything usefull with.
Bob - there are lots of other proper tools for this however i em not able to find preset animation palette in photoshop and i'd love to see how long will take you to animate words disapearing in a puff of smoke in photoshop. It took me 30 seconds in indesign. Also as i have poster, flyer, pull up banner design in indesign already with all fonts colours and style for the campaign why should i need to recreate the whole design in photoshop to make elements on the page fade, move and disapear in a puff of smoke?

How to create a selectable symbol window/list/etc...

I am brand new to Flash and Actionscript and have a project I
want to do.
I would like to have a graphic area where I can display a
list of graphics/symbols that could be dragged
on to the stage or to a Movie clip to create a layout and do
this within flash. There are a couple of sites
I have seen that do what I would like to do.
In essence: I would like to have a window that would show a
scrolling list of symbols/objects that would
be populated (2 symbols/graphics side by side) and any number
of symbols loaded in the list/window.
Then to be able to drag one of the symbols to the stage or to
a movie clip. Being a beginner I don't know if
it is possible on a web page to have to SWF files on a page
and if you could drag between them?
A site where this is done is www.sugarhousebanner.com with
their banner designer tool. I would like to do
something a bit similar. Any input on how to do this in just
getting started would be appreciated.
The 2nd item I have is also seen on this same site. I am not
sure how they do the zooming in and out and not have the whole
stage affected if all the controls for the graphics, fonts, etc...
are on the stage also.

On my Sun keyboard i can get a degree symbol by using Meta-0 (thats a zero :-)

Edge Animate CC 2014 running very slow / sluggish on tutorials and personal projects.

Hi there, I've been trying to get Edge Animate up to speed with the other adobe products I use with no problems (Muse, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects). I've followed the proxy settings suggestion mentioned in previous posts (my computer isn't on a proxy), as well as setting my color management options to default, and trying a wide range of others to see if the problem would go away (per another response I saw).
I even upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1, just to see if that'd fix the issue, to no avail.
I first noticed it with this tutorial:

After importing the assets into EA, I go to add text and the text entry field records my input at about 1 character per second. It also happens with my own personal projects quite often.
I've got an AMD FX 6100 Six-Core Processor
               8GB of RAM
               ATI Radeon 6900
               and Windows 8.1 Pro
I'd be willing to try anything, and any help is appreciated!

OK - Possibly Good News... I talked to Adobe Tech Support. I am able to download a previous version of the Edge Animate CC by choosing PREVIOUS VERSION under the FIND NEW APPS section of the Creative Cloud Desktop app. This is a new feature of CC. Thankfully. I can install CC and then do as hemanth kumar r suggested and edit the _edge.js file to allow 3.0 to open the file.
Thanks for all of the help. Sorry for the frustration in MY TYPING . I'll reply if that all works.
