BAPI Creation

Hi,
     Can somebody give me the detailed procedure, including T-Codes, to create/deal with BAPIs? Also, how do I handle the BAPI BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE to send the rate information from SAP?
Thanks,
John.

Programming a BAPI consists of some tasks like:
• Defining BAPI Data structures ( using SE11 )
• Creating BAPI Function Modules (For each method)
• Defining BAPI Methods in the BOR
• Generate and release
1. Defining BAPI Data structures: This is the basic step followed while creating BAPIs. All the relevant structures that are required for BAPI have to be created using T-Code SE11. The structures can be created for Import/Tables parameters.
2. Creating BAPI Function Modules: We must create new function group for each BAPI. If the BAPIs are related then the same can be grouped under the same FUNCTION GROUP to enable the sharing of global data amongst the related BAPIs.
3. Defining BAPI Methods in the BOR: When creating a new object type in BOR (Business Object Repository), there can be two possibilities. Either it is created as a subtype of an existing business object or it is created as a new business object from scratch. Create a business object using the T-Code SWO1. The business object gets created with the standard interface that contains an Interface IFSAP, an Attribute ObjectType, and two methods namely ExistenceCheck and Display. All these cannot be changed. You can add a method to the business object. For this, we will choose from the menu path, Utillities -> API methods -> Add method. To use the business object Object type status has to be set to Implemented.
4. Generate and Release: Go to SE37 and release the API enabled Function module. In the Object created in the BOR, set the status of Object Type Component to Released.
You can then display the BAPI in the BAPI Explorer. Invoke the same using the T-code BAPI.

    HI,
    you can findout error by declaring BAPI RETURN type structure .
    for ex:"
    DATA : return LIKE bapiret2 OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_SALESDOCU_CREATEFROMDATA1'
          EXPORTING
            sales_header_in     = header
            sales_header_inx    = headerx

            sales_conditions_in = i_conditions.
        LOOP AT return WHERE type = 'E' OR type = 'A'.
          EXIT.

    u can check the below the material also
    what is BAPI?
    BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
    I have answered this question before..
    A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
    You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
    A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
    BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
    The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
    Reading instances of SAP business objects
    GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
    The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
    GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
    The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
    The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
    The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
    Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
    The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Example Code
    U need to give the step_nr, item_nr, cond_count and cond_type so the correct conditon will be updated. If no condition exists for the given parameters, a new condition will be created.
    U can find these parameters for a particular condition type in table KONV.

    Bdc to Bapi
    The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
    eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
    eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
    Only specify fields that should be changed
    Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
    Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
    Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
    The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
    Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
    You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
    You must always enter key fields for changes.
    You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
    The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
    For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
    Bapi to VB(Visual Basic)
    Long back I had used the following flow structure to acheive the same.
    Report -> SM59 RFC destination -> COM4ABAP -> VB.exe
    my report uses the rfc destination to create a COM session with com4abap. com4abap calls the vb.exe and manages the flow of data between sap and vb exe.
    You need to have com4abap.exe
    If com4abap is installed you will find it in sapgui installatin directory , C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui\RFCSDK\com4abap.
    else refer OSS note 419822 for installation of com4abap
    after making the settings in com4abap to point to the vb program and setting up rfc destination in sm59 to point to com4abap session , you can use the following function modules to call the vb code.
    for setting up com4abap and rfc destination please refer to the documentation for com4abap.
    Invoke NEW DCOM session
    call function 'BEGIN_COM_SESSION'
    exporting
    service_dest = service_dest "(this will be a RFC destination created in SM59)
    importing
    worker_dest = worker_dest
    exceptions

  • BAPI creation versus function module creation...

    Hi,
    I know the difference between BAPI and simple function  module. I have also created custom function module.
    But I have not worked on creation of Custom BAPIs.
    Is there a much differece in creation of function module and BAPI?

    Java Connector(JCO) can call not only BAPI's but also the function modules which are remotely enabled..
    BAPI's as i said earlier are remotely enabled function modules..
    Hence, JCO can call also BAPI's(n not only BAPI's as u mentioned).

  • In BAPI creation iam getting some problem plz help me in this issue?

    Hi All
        I am new to  BAPI.
        I did one program by watching the below link
        http://www.saptechies.com/step-by-step-procedure-to-create-bapi/
        By watching that tutorial iam able to develop up to the creation of BAPI.
        While the releasing of my BAPI object its showing the following error
        Released object types must be transportable.
        While the releasing the method its showing the following message
        Object type components have higher release level than oject type.
        If any one  knows how to resolve this issue please help in this topic
        Thanku.
    Regards,
    K.S.L.Neelima.

    Hi Neelima,
    As the error message shows: Released object types must be transportable
    This means you have saved the object type also as local object under $tmp. You should not do this. Create the object type under any dev package and then try releasing it. This will work for sure.

  • Finding all Customer Master fields for BAPI creation !

    Hi All,
    Could anyone help me out which BAPI  FM is available for all Customer Master Fields as well as payment(FI) related
    for example=> Customer name,Street Address,PO Box Address,Postal Code, City,Country,Account No, Incoterms,Order Pending,
    Credit Analyst Name, Credit Rep Grp No,Accounting Clerk No,Approved,Credit Rating,Risk Code etc.
    Appreciate your immidate reply.
    Thanks,
    Prasad.

    Hi,
    If you are trying to create customer , then i dont think BAPI s will help you.. As far as i know for customer creation there is no BAPI. You have to go for BDC. Call transaction or session method.

  • FM BAPI creation

    Hi all,
    I have a reuirement to cretae a BAPI FM with the logic of a report to be the source code.
    But in the report I have the selection screen components as select-options.
    for eg
    SELECT-OPTIONS : ebeln FOR ekko-ebeln,
                                   ebelp FOR ekpo-ebelp.
    How do I map this select-option fields to the import parameters of the BAPI as they are like internal tables.
    Pls help with your ideas.
    Thanks,
    stock

    Hi,
    I am creating a BAPI and read that the structure used in the import has to be user defined.
    So I am trying to create a user defined structure by using "TYPES".
    I am declaring the "TYPES" in the Function group top include, created for the BAPI and giving the import statement in the BAPI as "i_ebeln type T_EBELN" but it gives me error like " The TYPE T_EBELN is not found"
    I have declared the types in the FN grp and am getting the error, where else do i have to declare the " types"to avoid the error.
    Pls help with your ideas.
    Thanks,

  • Problem in BAPI creation

    Hi,
    I have created a Function Module as Z_DOC_READ as a local Object.
    Now , I am trying to make it as RFC enabled. But, It not allowing to do that.
    Instead it is throwing one Message as
    "GENERIC TYPES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN RFC".
    Please let me know, what is the wrong with this?
    Any steps to be followed, while Making the FM as RFC enabled?
    Please let me know.
    Regards
    Sandeep

    You might have used generic data types for the interface parameters(like Import, Export, Tables..).
    For an RFC function module, the associated type of an interface parameter should be a dictionary type.

  • Creation of bapi

    I need to create a BAPI for a classical report YUFA.(Forecast Accuracy)
    The problem is the report is a quarterly one and every time it shows different columns according to the periods ie 1 month has 4 periods,so  for 7th month starting it shows 25th period till the period selected. Also the report period cannot exceed 3 months so 12 fields come up in 1 cycle.
    How can i get it into an internal table,when columns keep on changing. So you can't assign specific field of internal table field from the fields of report.
    How can i get this into an internal table, or is there any other way out. Pls suggest.

  • Background job fails for BDC profile creation and role assignment

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a BDC Function module for Tcode 'PFCG' for profile creation and role assignment, and called this FM in my zprogram. the problem is that when i run this program in foreground it executes succesfully, but if i schedule it in background it fails throwing error in job log 'Role 'Z...' does not contain any active authorizations'. But i have created one more program to create authorization objects which runs before this zprogram.I have also checked the authorization object in 'RSECADMIN', it reflects active. I dont understand whats happening exactly when it runs background.
    Below is the process of job
       1. ZMIS_AUTH_OBJECT_CREATE
           Variant : auth-create
       2. ZMIS_AUTH_ASSIGN_TO_ROLE

    Hi Praveen,
    Yeah definately, my requirement is that I have to access of some BI reports to certain users, so contract data will be downlaoded from ECC on application server, need to read that file from application server and for the each contract i ahould create a authorization object, role creation and assigning of role to the user and profile generation and activation.
    To achieve this i have written two programs

  • Purpose of bapi

    what is the purpose of bapi and how it wil work?pls giv me brief information

    <b>BAPI (Business Application Program Interface)</b>
    BAPI is a set of interfaces to Object- oriented programming methods that enable a programmer to integrate 3rd party software into the proprietary R/3 product from SAP.
    CL_HTTP_CLIENT --- By activating this class we can provide connectivity between R/3 and any other legacy system.
    JCO (Java), COM/DCOM (Microsoft) connectors are used.
    The adapter provides local transaction support for the BAPI. The following BAPI calls support local transactions
    BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT
    BAPI_TRANSACTION_ROLLBACK
    <b>BAPI Creation</b>
    Define a Function Group -- SE37
    Write RFC-FM --  SE37
    Create an object --  SWO1
    Make the FM as an API method within the object.
    Transfer Request Release -- SE09
    <b>BAPI Types</b>
    GetList()
    GetDetail()
    Create()
    Change()
    Delete()
    Add<subobject> , Remote<subobject>
    Replicate() , SaveReplicate()
    <b>Some Standard BAPIs</b>
    Bapi_salesorder_change
    Bapi_salesorder_createfromdat1

  • Customer BAPI can't be viewed from BAPI explorer

    I have tested my customer BAPI in SE80 and SWO1 to be implementable, but not released, can we see it in BAPI explorer?

    Hello Jolin,
    Check this wiki to know about required steps to make available the customer BAPI in BAPI explorer.
    A step by step guide for beginners on user defined BAPI creation - ABAP Development - SCN Wiki

  • BAPI for Transaction VA01?

    How to Develope an interface program to upload the sales order data from legacy system to SAP using BAPI for Transaction VA01.Explain me clearly?

    VA01:
    BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT1
    BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2
    steps for bapi creation
    STEP 1 - Define a structures for the BAPI
    In this step a structures for the parameters and tables of the function module used for the BAPI are defined.
    Use Data type -> Structure
    Define the following structures:
    ZBAPI_ORDER_STATUS_IMPORT which contains the following fields:
    ORDERID Order number (Keyfield)
    SPRAS Language
    ExcludeInactive - Checkbox - Exclude inactive status
    ZBAPISTAT:
    STEP 2 - Write Function Module
    Important notes:
    Each BAPI must have its own function group.
    Under the attributes tab remember to select Processing Type Remote Enabled module, otherwise the function module cannot be invoked via RFC and used as a BAPI
    Import/Export parameters can only be BY VALUE for an RFC enabled function module
    We are only creating one BAPI in this example, but you can create related BAPIs in the same function pool, so they will be able to share global data.
    Code
    Notes:
    The subroutine SET_RETURN_MESSAGE is a standard routine used for BAPIs that use the BAPIRETURN structure
    In form Z_BAPI_GET_ORDER_SYSTEM_STATUS there is a test IF 1 = 2. If the test is true a message is displayed. The condition will obviously never be true, and we will never want to display a message in a BAPI. The reason why it is included is, that it create a reference for the message, so that the WHERE USED functionality can be used for the message. This is the SAP standard way to handle it, copied from the Company Code GetList BAPI.

    Important note:
    You will have to define a structure for every parameter in the BAPI. You cannot use the same structures used in existing applications because BAPI structures are frozen when BAPIs are released and then there are restrictions on changing them.
    STEP 3 - Create the API Method Using the BAPI WIZARD
    The BAPI wizard is used toTo expose the remote function module as a BAPI. The wizard will generate some additional code, so the function module is a valid method of the BOR. This allows the BAPi to be called as a workflow method in addition to be called by an outside program.
    Note: Each function module corresponds to a method in the BOR
    Go to the Business Object Builder SWO1.
    You can either create the new Object type as a subtype of an existing business object or create a new business object from scratch. In this example it would be obvious to create the Object type as a subtype of BUS2005 Production order. However, to illustrate how to create a new Object type from scratch, we will do this.
    In the Object/Interface type field write the name of the new Business Object: ZORDERSTAT. Press enter and fill in the additional fields necessary to create the object type.
    Supertype: Not relevant because we are creating our object from scratch
    Program. This is the name of the program where the wizard generates code for the Object type, NOT the function module we created earlier. The program name must not be the name of an existing program.
    Press enter and create the new business object. Note that when you create the business object a standard interface, an attribute ObjectType and the methods ExistenceCheck and Display are automatically generated. These cannot be changed !
    The next step is to add the Z_BAPI_GET_ORDER_STATUS method to the business object. Select Utilities -> API methods -> Add method and write the name of the function module in the dialog box. There are 5 different steps in BAPI.
    Create BAPI Structure
    Create BAPI Function Module or API Method.
    Create BAPI object
    Release BAPI Function Module.
    Release BAPI object.
    Step1. Creating BAPI Structure:
    Go to <SE11>.
    Select Data Type & Enter a name.
    Click on Create.
    Note: Always BAPI should be in a development class with request number (Not Local Object).
    Select Structure & hit ENTER.
    Enter the fields from your database. Make sure that the first field is the Primary Key Field.
    Then SAVE & ACTIVATE.
    Step 2. Creating BAPI module:
    Enter TR.CODE <SE37>.
    Before entering any thing, from the present screen that you are in, select the menu
    Goto -> Function Groups -> Create Group.
    Enter a name (Note: This name Must start with ZBAPI)
    Let this screen be as it is and open another window and there, enter TR.CODE <SE80).
    Click on the Third ICON that says Inactive Objects.
    Select the group that you just created and click on Activate.
    Notice that the group you created will disappear from the list of inactive objects.
    Go back to <SE37> screen and enter a name and hit <ENTER>. Then enter the group name that you just created and activated.
    NOTE: When you release a function module the respective group will be attached to that particular application. It cannot be used for any other application. NEVER include an already existing group that is attached to another module.
    Now click on the first Tab that says ATTRIBUTES and select the radio button that says remote-enabled module since we will be accessing this from any external system.
    Then click on the second tab that says IMPORT.
    Enter a PARAMETER NAME, TYPE and the structure you created in the first step. Also select the check box ‘Pa’. All remotely enabled functional modules MUST be Pa enabled, where Pa means ‘Passed by Value’ and if you don’t select ‘Pa’, then that means it will be passed by reference..
    Then click on tab that says EXPORT.
    Enter the following as is in the first three fields
    RETURN TYPE BAPIRETURN (These 3 field values are always same)
    Here also select ‘Pa’ meaning Pass by value.
    Note: BAPIRETURN contains structure with message fields.
    Then SAVE and ACTIVATE.
    Step 3. Creating BAPI object:
    Enter Tr.Code <SWO1> (Note. It is letter ‘O’ and not Zero).
    Enter a name and then click on create. Enter details.
    NOTE: Make sure that that Object Type and Program name are SAME.
    Enter Application ‘M’, if you are using standard table Mara. If you are using your own database then select ‘Z’ at the bottom.
    Then hit <ENTER>.
    Now we have to add ‘Methods’. High light METHODS and then select the following from the menu:
    Goto Utilities -> API Methods -> Add Methods.
    Enter function Module name and hit <ENTER>.
    Select the second FORWARD ARROW button (>)to go to next step.
    Check if every thing looks ok and again click on FORWARD ARROW button (>).
    Then select ‘YES’ and click on <SAVE>.
    Now on a different screen goto TR.CODE <SE37>. Enter Function Module name and select from the top menu Function Module -> Release -> Release.
    Goback to TR.CODE <SWO1>.
    Here select the menu combination shown below in the same order.
    Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Implemented.
    Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Released.
    Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Implemented.
    Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Released.
    Then click on <SAVE>.
    Then click on Generate Button (4th button from left hand side looks like spinning wheel).
    Then Click on the button that says ‘PROGRAM’ to see the source code.
    To check if this is present in work flow goto TR.CODE <BAPI>.
    Here it shows business object repository.
    First click on the middle button and then select “ALL” and hit ENTER.
    Goto tab ALPHABETICAL and look for the object that you created. This shows that the BAPI object has been created successfully
    BAPI/RFC Interface
    A remote function call is a call to a function module running in a system different from the caller's.
    The remote function can also be called from within the same system (as a remote call), but usually caller and callee will be in different systems.
    In the SAP System, the ability to call remote functions is provided by the Remote Function Call interface system (RFC). RFC allows for remote calls between two SAP Systems (R/3 or R/2), or between an SAP System and a non-SAP System.
    RFC consists of the following interfaces:-
    A calling interface for ABAP programs
    Any ABAP program can call a remote function using the CALL FUNCTION...DESTINATION statement. The DESTINATION parameter tells the SAP System that the called function runs in a system other than the caller's.
    RFC communication with the remote system happens as part of the CALL FUNCTION statement.
    RFC functions running in an SAP System must be actual function modules, and must be registered in the SAP System as "remote".
    When both caller and called program are ABAP programs, the RFC interface provides both partners to the communication. The caller may be any ABAP program, while the called program must be a function module registered as remote.
    Calling interfaces for non-SAP programs
    When either the caller or the called partner is a non-ABAP program, it must be programmed to play the other partner in an RFC communication.
    To help implement RFC partner programs in non-SAP Systems, SAP provides-
    External Interfaces
    RFC-based and GUI-based interfaces can be used by external programs to call function modules in SAP R/2 or R/3 systems and execute them in these systems.
    Vice versa, ABAP programs in R/2 or R/3 can use the functions provided by external programs via these interfaces.
