Bapi to search customers

Hi,
I'm looking for a BAPI to search for customers by name. I have tried BAPI_CUSTOMER_FIND but can't get it to work.

Mattias i've test the BAPI and works find, let me tell you how i filled the tables:
In the Import Parameters:
MAX_CNT = 100
PL_HOLD = X
In the Tables
SELOPT_TAB-COMP = THE KNA1-BURKS
SELOPT_TAB-TABNAME = KNA1
FIELDNAME = NAME1
FIELDVALUE = A (with the '* char').
The result was the table "RESULT_TAB" with all the customer that had an "A" in the Name, also, you can use the char '+' to search another value, just like you use it in a web search.

Go to XD03, place your mouse next to Customer and press F4. You will have some options to choose based on which, the customer list will be displayed.
In the said screen, on top right side, you can see two arrows one pointing towards left side and another one pointing towards right side. There is one more button next to arrow pointing right side. Select that in which there is an option [Account group] Place your mouse on that so that you can see customer list based on Account group.
Alternatively, go to SE16, input table [KNA1] and input Account group and execute. You will get the desired result.

BAPI to search for customer

dear all
Iam search for a BAPI to be used in search for particular customer using one of its attribute wich is stored in kna1 table
and also search in its details stored in ADRC taple if possible.
and also BAPI for search for equipment using one of its attribute like serial number or sold to party .

BAPI for searching a customer?

Hi all,
I have to search for customers in the KNA1 table, e.g. using name, customer number... (all optional, multiple search parameters count as "AND" search), incl. wildcards (--> potentially multiple customers as result).
As the search is initiated from a Java-based web application, I need a BAPI or at least an RFC FM.
Unfortunately, I found no fitting one so far. The next best is BAPI_CUSTOMER_FIND, but it seems to work on individiual fields only, and it only supports OR searches, no AND searches.
Is there a function module already in the system, or do I have to write it myself?

I realized that BAPI_CUSTOMER_FIND returns the customer number as well, so I can use it in general.
But there is still some problems remaining, such as the missing AND operator and the need to afterwards get some details about each customer via JCo calls...
I guess it's best when I develop a custom range selection BAPI.

Could anyone please tell me if there is a function module in CRM to search for BP's based on search terms. ( Just as we could enter '*' in search terms in transaction BP and get a list of customers ).

You can make use of BAPI_BUPA_SEARCH.
In the import parameter CENTRALDATA you can pass the
search terms.

This is how u can create "Search Help" for the fields of the ztables that u have created.
SE11- Create Search Help for 1 field, "Selection Method" box put the Table name to which the field belongs to. "Dialog Type" box write: "Display Value Immediately".
Search Help Parameter is the Field name for which u want the Help. Tick Imp & Exp options and assign LPOS = 1 and Enter. , save and Activate.
SE11- Go to the table , Click on the Field that needs to be assigned a search Help....Click at the left side of the Field so that all the corresponding data Elements, Key field etc also gets selected.
Click on the "Search Help tab" just above the "Data Type " column.
Put the "Search Help" name that u just created. Mention the Field and Enter. it takes up the required values. Now Copy.
U can repeat the process for whatever fields u want to assign a Search Help.
se51- Go to Screen Painter, Select Fields from Dictionary table to which u want search help to be assigned.
Double click on the Text box of the corresponding field,......> Screen Painter Attributes.......> Search help Text box.........> Enter the name of the Search help that u created for a field.
Ok....>Save.........> Activate

BAPI to get customers filtered by sales org and distribution channel

I'm writing a little portal web-app on an MS platform to allow externals to place orders directly. I have a problem that I need to get a list of customers (for ship-to) that is filtered by the same sales org and dist chan as my sold-to company and BAPI_CUSTOMER_GETLIST doesn't return this info for filtering. What options do I have?

Search Customers using Contact Phone in R12

Hi,
We are using Ebusiness Suite 12.0.4 and for specific business reason the end customer(person) are defined as ship to contact of one generic Customer account(Organization). This has lead to data where there is one customer account having 100's of shipto sites, and each site has one or more contact person defined. Now the problem we are facing is searching for a specific customer contact.
With the change in the UI in R12, we have search fields for contact name and contact phone number in the search screen, but when we search for a given contact name or a phone number, it returns Customer Account, and on clicking details of that account, we get all the sites(not the one corresponding to the contact or phone from the search criteria). So the user has to go through all the sites to get to specific contact.
We need the ability to go to a specific contact point directly after the search. Has anyone faced this issue before? Any insight on how to achieve this functionality would be helpful.

We have faced this issue as well. The contacts arent linked to the sites directly but I see it linked to the cust account.
I am not sure if thats the way its supposed to be or we arent interpretting them correctly.

Also, there are no. of bapi's uses kna1 or adrc table so, you better search on specific requirement on sdn.com.

Has anybody done the packaging of BAPI and sent it to customers?

Hello SAP gurus
We have a product that is integrated to SAP via custom BAPIs.
So when we sell our product, for the product to work it will look for these custom BAPIs.
So I would like to know if there is a way that we can bundle the custom BAPIs and send them on a CD along with our product, which the customer can upload to his system?
One option is to send our consultants to help them in recreating these custom BAPIs on their SAP system. But we want to avoid this by giving an option of just uploading the custom BAPIs.
Your suggestions or feedback will be highly appreciated.

Yes, it was my mistake of not clearly mentioning it as a custom BAPI in the header :). Sorry for that.
Regarding the functionality, we have some minor modifications to the standard BAPIs that create Quote, Order. Also, we had to include the TRANSACTION_COMMIT bapi in our custom bapi (ZBAPI). So that is the reason we need to package custom bapis since our customers can't use just the standard BAPIs that are sent along with SAP.
Hope I have answered the question. Any suggestions or feedback will be highly appreciated.

PS: What I am surprised is that none of the people whom I have spoken to has done this before. Even SAP tech support hasn't responded with a reasonable answer.

Problem with searching for 'empty' emails with BAPI_BUPA_SEARCH

Dear ABAP'ers.
I have got a small problem with BAPI_BUPA_SEARCH.
I Use this BAPI to search for Business Partners with the Email condition.
I put rhe Email to lv_email variable, it works ok.
 lv_email = ' '
 CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_BUPA_SEARCH'
 EXPORTING
 email = lv_email
 TABLES
 searchresult = lt_searchresult <= returns no BuPas
 return = ls_bapiret2 .
But I need to have a possibility to search for such Business Partners who have got no email address. Unfortunatellu when I pass an empty lv_email to BAPI, it returns no Business Partners whilst such BuPas exist in database.
Is there some possibility to search for those BuPas who have got no email address assigned?

Can you query ADR6 table where SMTP_ADDR = space.
and pick the PERSNUMBER or ADDRNUMBER and pick the Patners related to that ..
