BarCode in PDF Question

Hi, I try to make bar code in a PDF form. Question is, how can I make the value move from one field to another and bypassing something in between those field. For example:
On the form on my end, I have Passport Number, Name, Exp. Date, DoB etc...the Customer would send in a form with Passport Number, Name, DoB (Bypassing the Exp.Date since this value is automatically calculated). The system is closed so I have to do with barcode. Any one please tell me how I can program the barcode so it can bypass the Exp.Date part.
Thanks

When you set up a bar code field, you can specify which fields you want to be included on the Value tab of the field properties dialog.

It is not displaying barcode in PDF format. How ever it is displaying the barcode in rtf, explorer etc. Please help me in solving this. Am I missing any setup after installing Font and BI Publisher desktop..
    Thanks
    Ahmed

    Hi Ahmed,
Are you able to see the bar-code in pdf output in rtf layout (not thru concurrent request submission)?
Please check the following steps and see if you have missed one of these set-ups in XML Publisher administrator:
    XML Publisher Administrator-->Administration
Font File--->Give font file name and Browse the bar code (3 of 9 in your case)--->Apply
    Font Mapping-->Mapping Name--->Mapping Code
    Type--->FO to PDF--->Apply
    Open Tab Create Font Maping
Font Family: Code39-Digits(This name should be exactly the font name which comes in word)
    Style: Normal
    Weight: Normal
    Target Font Type: Truetype
    Continue
    Font : font file name
    Apply
    Go to Template Tab
    Query for your template
    Open Edit Configuration
    Click on FO Processing
In Font Mapping set :associate your file
Please let me know if you are still unable to view the barcode.

  • Barcode in PDF output not coming in Oracle R12.1.3

    Hi,
We have a rtf template for Invoice report. In this report we have to display barcode in PDF output. In our development instance barcode is coming properly. But in our test instance barcode is not coming(same template is available in Development and Test instance).
We are using wocrb.ttf and w128l.ttf font files and we have these files available at $OA_JRE_TOP/lib/fonts path.
Also, we have config file available on $OA_JRE_TOP/lib directory. and this config file has correct path of both the font files.
Still the barcode is not coming in Test instance.
Request you all to please help me with this issue.
    Thanks,
    SA

PDF requires the font be registered correctly, since it is not appearing you have missed something in your configuration.
The most common error is the font family name does not exactly match the font name in Word. (Open the font on your PC and the name is present there also.)
You can use the xdodebug.cfg troubleshooting method,  then see what error appears in the xdo.log when the font is accessed.
See the following note for xdo.log:

  • Read BARCODE in PDF file

Hi! I've a requirement to read some barcodes inside PDF files. I actually can read from images, but can't find how to read them from a PDF. Someone has done this? Or maybe some suggestions to convert PDF to image, in that way I can read the code from the generated imaged?
    Best regards!

I believe the iText library lets you read PDFs in Java. You can google it. Or for that matter, google java pdf library.
Once you know how to extract the barcode image from the PDF, it will be the same steps you use to read the image normally. If it's stored as something other than an image, that should be documented in the library's docs.

The only text you can attach to a PDF in the current Adobe Reader is a "note" comment. If you tap the comments button (the cartoon cloud with pencil) and choose the "note" comment (the cartoon cloud) you can add a note.

If you need further assistance with this issue, you'll need to repost in a generic Java forum, or perhaps do a google search for a barcode-reading library.

  • Barcodes in PDF template

I have a requirement to produce output for a document in France. I have scanned a copy of the document and produced a pdf template which works fine. My problem is that the requirement includes a barcode. I have tried simply specifying a field with a barcode font, which produces nothing and the barcode tool in Acrobat. This comes up with a message referring to a need for an extra licence and appears to be mode for 2d barcodes.
Does anyone have any experience of generatinf barcodes on pdf templates or any ideas where I might be going wrong?

    Mike
PDF templates do not support barcode fonts in the same way as RTF templates. I have to admit, not having tried it Im just thinkning out of the box. But you ought to be able to hightligh a field in the Adobe form and set the font to a barcode one on your client. The key will be to ensure that the PDF engine can access the font on the server. And thereby hangs a tale - does the PDF engine 'look' for fonts when processing a PDF template. I'll drop the dev team a mail to ask.

  • Actual Text is displayed instead of Barcode in PDF report

    Hi All,
I have used the Java class "oracle.apps.xdo.batch.DocumentProcessor" to create a PDF report. The "rtf" template contains barcode , When generating the report from standalone the PDF file contains the actual value instead of the Barcode.
I have used the font "3OF9.TTF"
Please update if anyone know the solution.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Barcode or field question

Hi, just a question, is it possible to insert a barcode or any field into an image using oracle document capture ? what oracle application can i use for this if is not possible....??? thanks...

ODC is able to <b>read</b> barcodes. If you want to mark scanned sheets (e.g to prevent duplicate readings or skipping a page), you will need a scanner that is capable to print the barcode to the page prior to reading it. If you want just to add an arbitrary text to an image/document, you had better use a DTP application.
From Oracle stack, you could use PDF Watermarking (a feature of UCM) or AutoVue, which is capable of marking independently nearly any kind of electronic resource.
Pls. provide more details what you are trying to achieve.

  • Previewing BarCode In PDF Format Using Microsoft Word

    Hello,
I'm having trouble using word to preview bar code font in pdf using XML Publisher.
The bar code shows prefectly well in html and in excel, but it does not show in PDF.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

    Hi Blisss
Its showing in HTML and Word becasue you have the barcode in your windows/fonts directory so when the doc is generated the font can be accessed. In the case of PDF the barcode needs to be embedded into the output. You need to treat the XMLP engine running on your desktop as a server ie the font needs to be available to the engine at runtime. So, you need to update the xdo.cfg file to point to the font in the fonts directory ... check the user guide for some more help.

  • Print to PDF questions

I have two questions. I have Acrobat 7 running on 10.5.2 on a new MBP.
    1. I can no longer successfully select the Adobe printer from the printer pop-u[p menu in the print dialog box. If I do, things seem to proceed, but the printer immediately goes to pause and will not resume. This is not a major problem, as the PDF button appears at the bottom left and that will save the file to PDF. But I am curious as to why the Adobe "virtual" printer no longer works.
    2. Previously, when using the PDF button, I could edit the menu and save PDFs to a folder of my choice. Now, when I select "edit the menu" and then hit the "+" button, I get the appropriate dialog box but cannot select a folder. I can open folders, but cannot select them as the "save to" folder. Any help here would be appreciated.

Some things that used to work in Tiger no longer work in Leopard. I suspect that Adobe did not rush to fix it because there is built-in way to generate PDF files already.

The Edit Menu feature is not designed to select a folder to save your PDF files into. It is so you can select an Automator workflow script to process your PDF file. That's how it handles such tasks as Mail PDF and Save PDF to iPhoto. You could create an Automator script to save a PDF to a particular folder, but in my experience, once you save a PDF to a folder, it becomes the default folder automatically until you select a different one.

  • PDF: Barcode in pdf file

    Hello,
I need to create and send a PO and Kanban card through External Send in me22n to a vendor. It should be sent through email with the PO and Kanban card printouts as pdf attachements.
How can I get a correct barcode that could be scanned instead of the place holder ( vertical lines ) ?
    Thanks for any help...

Yes, it is possible with new barcode font.  When the new barcode font is used, SAP generates the barcode instead of the printer making it device independent.

  • Barcodes in PDF files - not working.

So, I wanted to open a PDF file which contains a barcode, and the barcode doesn't display at all in readers such as Okular, Evince, Qpdfview. It displays in Adobe Reader, but I don't like Adobe Reader.
The barcode is visible on other linux distros.
Poppler is installed and updated to the latest version. ttf-free3of9 is installed.
    How can I fix it?

    Okular doesn't complain.
    Xpdf does:

  • XML PO Output for Communication does not show barcode on PDF

    Hi,
I am attempting to add a barcode to the PO Output for Communication XSL style sheet. I am doing this by calling 2 RENDERX XSL style sheets, the second containing an SVG template.
I have successfully accomplished this locally on my personal computer using FOP to generate the PDF (barcode appears perfectly). When I transfer the files to Oracle (the new custom PO XSL-FO style sheet in a template, along with 2 new templates for the 2 RenderX XSL stylesheets. The RenderX style sheets appear to be imported at runtime using calls similar to: <xsl:import href="xdo://PO.ALKS_CODE128_BARCODE.en.US/"/>
The PO Output for Communication report runs successfully with no errors or warnings, and all of the output appears EXCEPT for the barcode (remember this is SVG). Same thing happens when I View Document from the PO form.
Why does my SVG barcode not appear on the PO Output for Communication within Oracle, yet the same code runs perectly on my PC. I've looked into the Adobe SVG Viewer plug-in, but I do not have that on my local machine yet the barcode appears fine in the PDF. It seems the PDF should be able to show any image anyway.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

    Hi,
I am not using a barcode font. I am using RenderX's XSL stylesheets to generate the barcode. As I said, the barcode generate's fine in the PDF on my computer but does not appear in the PDF when the code is moved to Oracle.
    Thanks,
    Suzanne
