for it.Yes. It is not a matter of 'syntax'; you will need a Base64 library. There are several free ones available. For example, 'codec' available from - http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/index.html . Google will help find others.

  • Problem with My Base64 Encoding CLOB  Routine.

    I have written a program which reads an xml file into the database
    and makes it Base64encoded.
    This needs to work on 10g and above
    If the read length specified in the code below is greater than the length of the xml_file, then I get the expected result(output).
    However if the read length is less than the length of the file, then I get a lot of '==' in the file and as a result, incorrect encoding which means that the file will not be readable through the application.
    I'm pretty sure I'm reading the blob lengths correctly, and the problem is somehow related to the base64 encoding.Any help appreciated

    Base64 encoding encodes every 3 bytes of input data into 4 bytes of output data. It uses equal signs to indicate nodata and only at the end of the encoded sequence. Try chaning your v_read_length parameter to a multiple of 3 e.g. 960 or 1008 instead of the current 1000. I'm using multiples of 48 because the utl_encode.base64_encode function adds a linebreak for every 48 bytes of input data (64 bytes of output). If you use a value that's not divisible by 48 you will still get a legitimate encoding as long as it's divisible by 3, but you will get some lines longer than others when you append them together.

  • Base64 and dbms_output problem

    Hello,
    I'm trying to write a function that generate HTML content for sending inside a mail. This HTML content needs to have some picture inside it. To do so I'm using some conversion function from blob to base 64 encoding. To be sure that my function is working properly, I'm trying to execute it inside Oracle SQL developer.
    The problem is that whenever I'm tying to show up any base64 content via dbms_output.put_line I got:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
    ORA-06512: at line xxx
    06502. 00000 - "PL/SQL: numeric or value error%s"
    Here is the part of the code where I'm trying to open file and convert it inside base64 content
    With those variable:
        -- locale variables
        vc_mail_content       CLOB;
        vc_file_folder        VARCHAR2(100);
        vb_lFile              BFILE;
        vc_image_content      CLOB;
        vb_image_content      BLOB;Code:
    FOR c_file_name IN
              ( SELECT filename, folder
                 FROM MO_ITEM_IMAGES
                 WHERE item_id = R_lots.item_id)
             LOOP
                dbms_output.put_line('attachement '||c_file_name.fileName);
                vb_image_content := NULL;
                DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY(vb_image_content,true);
                vb_lfile  := BFILENAME('MO_DIR', 'webdav/'||c_file_name.folder||'/'||c_file_name.fileName);
                DBMS_LOB.OPEN(vb_lfile, DBMS_LOB.LOB_READONLY);
                DBMS_LOB.OPEN(vb_image_content, DBMS_LOB.LOB_READWRITE);
                DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE(     DEST_LOB => vb_image_content,
                            SRC_LOB  => vb_lfile,
                            AMOUNT   => DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(vb_lfile));
                DBMS_LOB.CLOSE(vb_lfile);
                vc_image_content := zzz_mails.getbase64String(vb_image_content);
                --/!\ This DBMS output creates the error /!\
                dbms_output.put_line(vc_image_content);
                DBMS_LOB.CLOSE(vb_image_content);
                vc_mail_content := vc_mail_content||vc_image_content;
             END LOOP; Whenever it reach the DBMS_output.put_line, I got the error.
    The getbase64String function is a function that translate from blob to base64 clob
    Can someone help me to solve this problem?
    Thank you

    DBMS_OUTPUT can not print CLOB in thay way. YOu can use a function like this:
    PROCEDURE print_clob(p_clob in clob) as
        l_offset number default 1;
      BEGIN
        loop
          exit when l_offset > dbms_lob.getlength(p_clob);
          dbms_output.put_line(dbms_lob.substr(p_clob, 255, l_offset));
          l_offset := l_offset + 255;
        end loop;
      END print_clob;and call that in your original procedure.

  • Webservice : problem with Base64 returned value

    Hello all,
    We are calling a webservice from a Flex2 application.
    When the returned value does not contain accentuated letters,
    we receive the value "as-is", everything is OK.
    When there is at least one accent, the result is
    automatically Base64 encoded by the server, and the
    xsi:type="n2:base64 is specified in the XML answer.
    The problem is that Flex2 does not Base64 decode the returned
    string, ans we cannot get the right value.
    We do not think that the problem is on the server, because we
    tryied to use 2 other webservice clients, and they worked well.
    We wonder if Flex2 can handle Base64 encoding on Webservice
    results or not.
    We thought abut using the Base64 decoder class, but it won't
    work because the result if not *always* Base64 encoded (depending
    if it contains some chars or not).
    Is there any solution to this issue ? If it can help, I paste
    the XML returned by the server at the end of this message.
    Thank you for your help.

    You should use cast_to_varchar2 regardless what is source of base64_encode.
    Because base64-value consists of single byte ASCII-characters.

    Not sure if utl_i18n is already there in version prior to 11.2.0.2.

  • Base64 Encoding Problem

    I have a String representation of an hexadecimal number such
    that :
    var s:String = "5300ca"; // 0x53, 0x00, 0xca
    I want to cut this string into 3 bytes (0x53, 0x00, 0xca) to
    use base64 encoding (3 x 8 bits returns 4 characters with base64
    encoding). Here is my code :
    import mx.utils.*;
    import flash.utils.*;
    var byte1:int = parseInt("0x53");
    var byte2:int = parseInt("0x00");
    var byte3:int = parseInt("0xca");
    var b:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
    b.writeMultiByte(String.fromCharCode(byte1) +
    String.fromCharCode(byte2) + String.fromCharCode(byte3), "utf-16");
    var base64Encoder:Base64Encoder = new Base64Encoder();
    base64Encoder.encodeBytes(b);
    var result:String = base64Encoder.drain(); // result = "Uw=="
    The result string is "Uw==" whereas it should be "UwDK"
    according to the normalized base64-encoding !
    Is it a bug in the base-64 encoding ?

    Very important because this limitation is very blocking
    according to me. Nobody has an answer ?

  • Problem with porcess chain and request

    Hi experts, I need help!!
    Description of the problem:
    There are three ODS that load daily information through process chain to a Infocubo. The information is loaded to BW from View generated for a data base of Oracle.
    Process chain for the three ODS is equal, I explain the one procedure to them:
    1- It initiates the chain .
    2- Blocks the View.
    3- Load of data through of infoPackage.
    4- If the load finishes well, then the data is delete of the View, the data is activte in the ODS and it arises to InfoCube, and if it finishes bad so unblocks the View and finishes process chain.
    5- Then, reconstruct the Index.
    Happens that in the three ODS when we loaded the information erase request loaded previously, then the historical one of the loads in the ODS does not stay. The three infopakages used to load the information to the ODS does not have labeled the option to erase the destiny of data, and it does not have it marked. The ODS do not have marked that option.
    When I do it manually east problem does not happen. I erased process chain and I returned to create the chain porcess but it did not solve the problem.
    Thank you

    I just checked the documentation and found that your code is incorrect. IAlternativeName::StrValue contains value for an email address, a Domain Name System (DNS) name, a URL, a registered object identifier (OID), or a user principal name (UPN). It doesn't
    contain string value for directory name (and other non-mentioned types). Instead, you need to instantiate an IX500DistinguishedName interface and initialize it from an alternative name value:
    class Program {
    static void Main(string[] args) {
    String RequestString = "Base64-encoded request");
    CX509CertificateRequestPkcs10 request = new CX509CertificateRequestPkcs10();
    request.InitializeDecode(RequestString, EncodingType.XCN_CRYPT_STRING_BASE64_ANY);
    Console.WriteLine("Subject: {0}", request.Subject.Name);
    foreach (IX509Extension ext in request.X509Extensions) {
    if (ext.ObjectId.Name == CERTENROLL_OBJECTID.XCN_OID_SUBJECT_ALT_NAME2) {
    CX509ExtensionAlternativeNames extensionAlternativeNames = new CX509ExtensionAlternativeNames();
    string rawData = ext.RawData[EncodingType.XCN_CRYPT_STRING_BASE64];
    extensionAlternativeNames.InitializeDecode(EncodingType.XCN_CRYPT_STRING_BASE64, rawData);
    foreach (CAlternativeName alternativeName in extensionAlternativeNames.AlternativeNames) {
    switch (alternativeName.Type) {
    case AlternativeNameType.XCN_CERT_ALT_NAME_DIRECTORY_NAME:
    IX500DistinguishedName DN = new CX500DistinguishedName();
    DN.Decode(alternativeName.RawData[EncodingType.XCN_CRYPT_STRING_BASE64]);
    Console.WriteLine("SAN: {0}", DN.Name);
    break;
    default:
    Console.WriteLine("SAN: {0}", alternativeName.strValue);
    break;

  • Private key problem

    hey folks,
    i would like to store a certificate's private key in a mysql db.
    my problem is that i don't know how to convert it back to a PrivateKey when i extract it from the db.
    i use the function Base64.encode(userPrivKey.getEncoded()); (org.bouncycastle.util.encoders.Base64; to store the private key base64 encoded in the db.
    when i extract the key from the db i can decode it with Base64.decode(). the problem is that the decode function only returns a byte array.
    so does anybody know how i can convert that byte array back to a private key?
    or is there any other (better) solution to store and retrieve private keys from a mysql db?
    many thanks

    I've been looking to do the same thing, and your code is helpful.
    If you do not want to pull in the BouncyCastle library, you can extract the RSA private key from the PKCS8 key format by parsing the DER directly. Here is some code that does it. All you need to add is the Base64 encode, and RSA begin and end flags.

  • Problem with socket in java and c++

    I am connecting to a server developed in java that use sys/socket.h, this server use DataInputStream
    class and readUTF so:
    in = new DataInputStream(socket.getInputStream());
    inputString = in.readUTF()
    My application in C++ it use winsock2.h and I utilize the method "send" in order to send the plots to the server
    java got hold of:
    #define MAXLONGITUD 10000
    char     bufEnviados[MAXLONGITUD + 1];
    bufEnviados[0] = (0xff & (longitud >> 8));
    bufEnviados[1] = (0xff & longitud);
    send(sock, bufEnviados,strlen(bufEnviados), 0 );
    I send the two first characters with UTF format so that the server in java could recognize them.
    The application operated correctly it until received an old plot of 6.236 characters later
    from which it close the connection with the socket and it fall my application!
    I have carried out several tests and I don't succeed in sending more than those 6.236 characters, however it achievement receibing whatever quantity of characters without problems!
    Could somebody help me to resolve this problem? I am attempting of everything and I don't achieve it!
    Ahead of time thank you!

    Are you sending characters or binary data? You mention "plot" which sounds like binary data. You cannot send binary data via character encoding. Characters in java are not just bits, they are mapped values. If you encode it with something like base64 then that should be ok.
    I can only suppose that your testing was with data sets greater than 255, because strlen() would not have worked otherwise.
    Since you have the size then use it rather than using strlen().

    There is nothing special about that particular number. So I would guess that the data in that set is the problem. Probably because you are in fact sending binary data. If, for example, a byte with a value of zero showed up in the sequence then strlen() would return an incorrect value compared to the size that you told java you are sending.

  • Problem with cfhttp in a loop

    Hi,
    I am reading an xml file that contains emails with attachments (one email per item/node, but may contain multiple attachments).  I am trying to save the attachments to our server.  So I'm looping over the multiple attachments of a single email and using cfhttp to GET the attachments from another server and save them with the same filename on our server.
    The problem is that it works for the first attachment - it's saved to the server, status code is 200 OK - awesome!  But for any attachments after that, it does not save them and throws a Conection Failure error.  No matter what attachments they are.
    In trouble shooting I tried several things.  First, inside of my loop of attachments, I can hardcode the cfhttp calls with the url and filename of the attachments - one right after the other - and all is perfect everytime!!  But it obviously needs to be dynamic.  I also tried to save a list of the attachment urls from the loop, and then call a separate cfhttp tag for each attachment in the list (so again, was in a loop) and it works for the first attachment in the list and not for the others (same errors as above).
    Here's a simplified version of the code.  I can't put in the real xml url, and when I set the "attachmentFilename" I left out that code because it works and is too much code.  Also, the XML works fine.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions, and of course, if you need more info from me!!
    Thanks so much,
    Kirsten

    attachment counter: 3
    cfhttp.statusCode: Connection Failure.  Status code unavailable.
    cfhttp.errorDetail: I/O Exception: peer not authenticated

    We've seen the peer not authenticated error quite a bit on our CFHTTP calls - are you trying to access the URLs via HTTPS?  It seems the SSL certificate keystore that CF ships with does not contain all the vendor SSL certificates out there - when CF can't authenticate a cert, it throws that "Connection Failure / Peer not authenticated Error".  In order to fix the issue, you have to import the SSL certificate of the site you are trying to access into the CF cert store on your server(s).  If you are using multiple servers, you will have to import the cert on each server.
    I'm sure a google search will turn up a step by step guide on how to do this, but the basic steps are:
    Go to a page on the SSL server.
    Double-click the lock icon.
    Click the Details tab.
    Click Copy To File.
    Select the base64 option and save the file.
    Copy the CER file into ColdfusionDir\runtime\jre\lib\security
    Run the following command from the same directory (keytool.exe is located in ColdfusionDir\runtime\jre\bin) ..\..\bin\keytool.exe -import -keystore cacerts -alias UniqueName -file filename.cer
    Restart Coldfusion
    Hope that helps!

  • Problem with unicode in MIME text/html

    Hi;
    I have a java program that sends email by sending it to our exchange server using SMTP. The email has both a To and a Bcc in the single email sent.
    The bcc addressee receives the email fine.
    The to address however has a problem with chars that are > 0x7f in the html. The html uses utf-8. But the displayed characters look as though the utf-8 part was ignored.
    Also weird, if I go to view, options in Outlook for the bcc email (which is good) it shows:
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
    boundary="----=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407"

    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    ------=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407--
    But for the to email (which has the problem), it only shows:
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
    boundary="----=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407"

    Does javamail do anything weird when it gets an email with a to and a bcc and split it up wrong? I just download and installed the latest mail.jar and activation.jar.
    thanks - dave

    OK...this didnt quite cure it for me...but having done this AND then this...
    MimeBodyPart htmlText = new MimeBodyPart();
    final String htmlStuff = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>"
    + "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN\" \"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd\">"
    + "<html xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\" xml:lang=\"en\" lang=\"en\">"
    + "<head>"
    + "<title>Stuff.</title>"
    + "<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"application/xhtml+xml; charset=utf-8\"/>"
    + "</head><body>"
    + "<p>Currency Symbols: \u00A3\u00A2\u20A3\u20AC$<p>"
    + "</body></html>";
    DataSource htmlSource = new DataSource()
    private String stuff = htmlStuff;
    private Charset cset = Charset.forName("utf-8");
    public String getContentType() { return "text/html"; };
    public java.io.InputStream getInputStream() throws IOException
    return new ByteArrayInputStream(cset.encode(stuff).array());
    public String getName()
    return null;
    public OutputStream getOutputStream() throws IOException
    throw new IOException();
    htmlText.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(htmlSource));
    htmlText.addHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding","base64");
    This works for me as shown by the Unicode chars in the html.
    If you intend to take this to production create a decent external DataHandler class and avoid the use of the anonymous class - which then avoids the need for the final String and the string can come from anywhere then.
    Hope this helps,
    Barry

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I am already in the building process. But I have another problem now. I took the latest source files from the site (2.4.16) and followed the instructions at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/xml/ref_xml/xml_win/intro.html
    I follow the instructions in section : Building with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition because I use the express edition.
    But when compiling XercesLib There is a strange error which I cannot find a solution for.

    Is it not possible to compile the latest version with Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition ?

  • Problem with authentication using UTL_DBWS

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call out to a web service from a PL/SQL procedure using UTL_DBWS. I am getting the following error when executing the procedure:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: ARERR [149] A user name must be supplied in the control record
    This is despite the fact that I have set the USERNAME property using utl_dbws.set_property. I am 99% sure that the problem is within my Oracle call, becuase I have used a web services utility (SoapSonar) to successfully call the web service, and I have also been able to recreate the error message using the same utility by removing the username information from the xml message header. I have also been able to successfully call the web service if I allow anonymous use of the web service (unfortuantely I need to use the security/authentication for this project).
    I have used utl_dbws.get_property to verify that the USERNAME property is being set correctly, but it still seems that the username is not being included in the header when I call the web service with UTL_DBWS.invoke.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hi,
    I'm having the same issue using UTL_DBWS. Calls to services that don't require authentication seem to work well using this package but I can't get the basic authentication calls working. When I examine the HTTP header it missing the "Authorization: Basic <base64-encoded-string>" line that I'd expect to see.
    I'm using the utl_dbws.set_property procedure to set the USERNAME and PASSWORD properties.
    Anyone have any ideas how to overcome this problem?
    Cheers,
    Anand.

  • Problem while Calling a CGI pgm From Java with code sample

    Hey guys,
    I am calling a CGI program from java servlet, while calling cgi program I am passing encoded(Base64) content via post process,
    My problem is the encoded data is not posted as expected, the encoded data is corrupting. But when I send encoded data in a text file, cgi program is perfectly decoding and working fine.
    Here I am doing Base64 encoding as per requirement, I cannot avoid this encoding.
    My doubt is about OutputStreamWriter constructor argument , In OutputStream Constructor I am passing one argument is OutputStream object and another argument is encoding type. I tried with ASCII, US-ASCII & UTF-8 .
    My code is as follows, please help me to resolve this issue.
    URL url = new URL("CGI server path");
    URLConnection urlConnection = url.openConnection();
    urlConnection.setDoOutput(true);
    OutputStream os = urlConnection.getOutputStream();
    BufferedOutputStream buffer = new BufferedOutputStream(os);
    OutputStreamWriter  writer = new
                                                   OutputStreamWriter(buffer, "US-ASCII");
    writer.write(encodedPDF-Content);
    writer.write("\r\n");
    writer.flush();
    writer.close();
    here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 bytes

    Whenever you read something in java into string (with Reader implementation) it expects source to contain text in encoding you specified. It then decodes it and makes 16 bit unicode string from it. Whenever you store string using Writers it does reverse operation with specified encoding (may be different than this which you used to read source) and stores text as a sequence of bytes made of 16 bit unicode string. So, passing text back and forth between programs with the help of files or I/O you can make mistake at both reading and writing encoding. Check for it.
    Now, when C programm or other application reads file it may take another assumptions about encoding or may even completly ignore it and read source as a binary file. Then, if you have a source text as a file and have to pass it to other application never do it using Reader/Writer. User raw InputStream/OutputStream instead what will preserve all information unchanged.
    here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 byteHow id you get this info? String.length() gets you how many chars is in it, it will be half the number of bytes. If you see your input file beeing 9565 bytes long, see my above statements.
