I've got 4 Creative .mp3 players: 52 Mb MuVo TX FM, 5 Gb Zen Micro, 8 Gb Zen MicroPhoto and a 20 GB Zen Sleek Photo.
I probably use the 5 Gb Zen Micro the most, as that's the one I have in my car. It was the first Creative .mp3 player that I bought. I like it best for the car, even though its capacity is smaller than the ZMP or Sleek Photo because its LCD screen is always readable even when the backlighting is off, unlike the OLED screens on the ZMP & Sleek Photo.
The MuVo TX FM is nice for outdoor activities and can hold enough music for an afternoon at the beach. There's always the FM radio in case I run out of fresh tunes and having a couple of spare NiMH AAA batteries along keeps the music playing.
The Zen Sleek Photo has pretty much bumped my Zen MicroPhoto out of contention. I use it in the house, hooked up to my Creative Megaworks 550 5. speaker system.
I keep the ZMP in the TravelDock Zen now and have it on my other computer's desk.
I chose my Zen Micro over the iPod mostly for the user replaceable battery and FM radio and my dislike of iTunes. I've had almost zero problems with it and it's over 2 years old, used daily. It's the one that convinced me to buy more Creative products.

  • How many Mac Mini's sold? and what has been the most popular Mac?

How many Mac Mini's sold? and what has been the most popular Mac? Curious, Bill

If you visit Apple's PR Library, you can find the quarterly sales results posted. Each one has a PDF you can download that includes a summary of Macs sold. The most recent one, from April 19, 2006, includes a PDF ("Data Summary" at the top of the press release) that only breaks down the Macs sold into "desktop" and "portable" computers. There's no way to distinguish between iMacs, G5 towers, Xserves and Mac minis in the desktop category. Older press releases like that (for example, the April, 2005 release) break down the desktops into iMacs and PowerMacs, but the iMac group includes the Mac minis and eMacs so it's still not possible to figure out exactly how many Mac minis were sold.
So, unless Apple releases the numbers separately, I'm not sure it's possible to answer your question.

Just bought a 3TB Time Capsule for a small office. Will have 4 users with MacBooks. What would ne the best setup for time machine individual backups and internet sharing in a secure way?

Set up each Mac for Time Machine backups in the normal way.  Time Machine will keep each backup separate on the Time Capsule, so users will only be able to see the backups of their own Mac.
Yes....there are convoluted workarounds that might allow one user to see the backups of another.....IF...they know the administrator password of the "other" Mac.
As far as Internet sharing, all users will have access to the Internet if they have a wired or wireless connection. If a Mac connects using wireless, it is possible to limit the time that they are allowed to connect to the network.
For example, you might limit the ability to connect to the wireless from say each Weekday from 8 AM to 6 PM.
With a wired Ethernet connection, you cannot limit access times to the Internet.

  • I have a desktop Mac OS X Leopard. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2007, Install Snow Leopard and download iLife '11. I heard that Quicken and Snow Leopard can clash and have problems.  What would be the best order for installing these products. Thank You.

I have a desktop MAC OSX Leopard. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2007, install Snow Leopard, download iLife'11.  I heard that Quicken and Snow Leopard can clash..........that is why I am upgrading Quicken. What would be the best order of installing these products.  I have gotten defferent opinions and I want to be sure I install them correctly.
    Thank You.

First, install OS X, then install your third-party software.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal
    startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
      1. If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the
update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it.
Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've
          restarted.
      2. You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system
software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through
other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
      3. The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other
interruption occurs during  installation, use the standalone installer (see below)
from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation  is in progress do not use
          the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
          1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
          2. Restart the computer.
          3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
          4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
              logo appears.
          5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
          6. Follow instructions.
After installing Snow Leopard you should update it by downloading and installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • What will be the best strategy for encoding performance ?

    Hi to all.
As I am a rooky with Premier Element 11, I comes to you all to get your feedback with your configuration choice.
My PC is a self made choice:
    CPU is Intel Core i7 3770K - 3.5Ghz
GPU is a GeForce GTX 660 OC 2Go or ATI HD 5870
    RAM is 16 Go (2x8Go) gskill PC3-10700  (2400 Mhz)
    Motherboard is Asus P8Z77-V Pro
SSD is a Samsung Pro 256Go  defines as the system (C:\)
Premiere Element is installed on it.
What would you do if you have the choice to buy 1 or 2 HDD 1To SATA III 64Mo (6 Gbit/s)  ?
I would like to know where I should put the following files in order to get the best performance to encode a movie in full HD.
    - Movie source files
    - Premiere Element Temp Files
    - Output (final movie file)
    Thanks for your idears
    Biglooping

The tradition with HDDs is to spread them out on multiple drives to prevent input/output drive bottlenecks.  All of the article in the Adobe libraries (that I've found) are aimed at users with workstations that have multiple hard drives and various backup systems.  Few articles have mentioned SSDs as apparently they have not been considered trustworthy.
I have a new ASUS i7 laptop and am very happy creating a new folder for each project and putting everything in that folder.  I create the folder, put copies of the media I plan to use in it, start a new project and double check in preferences that scratch disks are all set for "same as project".
Since I use the SSD as the work drive, my HDD is for storage and less significant software installations.  At 7200 RPM it is relatively fast, but not that important for they way I manage video projects.
At output I get near 1:1 render times, unless there is significant use of effects and multiple video tracks.
The laptop has a 7200 RPM HDD.  I tried various suggestions for spreading out the source, temp and output files and got no noticeable improvements in performance.  So, if you choose to manage projects like I do, it does not matter much what HDD you buy.
When a project is complete I move the entire folder to another drive for storage and back that up on yet another drive.  If I want to work on a project, I can move the entire folder back to the SSD.  I find it very convenient.

  • What should be the best approach for a novice like me?

    Hello everyone.
Please be patient. I'm new to the Adobe software family and I have a lot to learn.
But I came here to find out the best way to learn in order to do what I want to do with my business.
What programs do you think I need to master first? What is the most common approach to someone in my situation?
Basically, this is what to create:
electronic forms (to send to my clients, where they provide all kinds of information)
short and long coaching programs (rich in text and image, sort of like an e-book)
    new logo and brand identity
    poster and decal designs
In the future.. I'd like to develop my own website.
This is it. Any help is welcome.
    Thanks,
    Gus

Adobe.com is a good place to start.  They have resources that you can look into getting more info.  My approach would be to try and find some kind of formal training somewhere in your area.  Perhaps there is a local community college graphics department that has a certificate program.  There are also CD/DVD tutorials, but you need to work with other people and do assignments that are part of a curriculum.  If you decide to proceed on your own, start with Illustrator where you can gain skills in line manipulations that can then be used to help you make selections in Photoshop later on.  So, in my opinion, Illustrator first, Photoshop second, Dreamweaver third, and Flash/Fireworks fourth.  This all will take time.  It's impossible to learn all of the applications in a week or two.  That's why I think you will benefit from a formal setting like a classroom where you can ask questions and learn tips and tricks.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.
To contact product and tech support: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers.
You will find respective repair costs in the appropriate link:
    iPod Service Support and Costs
    iPhone Service Support and Costs
    iPad Service Support and Costs
There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:
    1. iResq or Google for others.
    2. Buy and replace screen yourself: iFixit

  • How much attached storage can a mac server handle? What would be the best suggestion for this?

Hello, hopefully I am in the correct location, if not, i apologize. Please bear with me as I am fairly new to MAC server. Here is my dillema. I have a mac graphics group that uses about 6TB of storage currently on a Windows server. We are running into issues such as permissions and searching inability. I was considering moving them to a mac server but will need to add storage to this. What would be recommended for such large disk space? We do currenlty have 2 mac mini servers and all the users are bound to AD as well. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

One of the Mac Mini Server boxes I deal with has 24 TB hanging off of the box (configured as RAID-6), plus a two-disk RAID-1 mirror set inside the box.   That's also a pretty small configuration, both in terms of its physical size and in terms of its storage capacity in the grand scheme of things.
A Mac Pro or Mac Pro Server will do 8 TB inside the box, plus a whole lot more outside the box either direct-attached storage (DAS) or via a Storage Area Network (SAN) configuration, but the performance of a Mac Pro Server is probably overkill for your needs, too.
As much as you are focusing on the capacity, you'll also want to look at how you'll archive and manage that much storage.   At how you'll manage and conduct backups of your data.
You'll also be looking at the speed and the design of your network, if you're moving large files around regularly.  Gigabit Ethernet does pretty well for small groups, but you may be looking for a different setup of that's not fast enough.

  • What are the best resources for learning JSP?

In your experience, what have been the best resources for learning JSP? I am new to this, and so far have been plugging away at a "Dummies" book. Hopefully there are other inexpensive ways (I checked the book out at the library), to learn it, and possibly even less boring (though I doubt it). I can deal with the boring, but I was wondering if I was going about learning it the best way.

  • What is the best workflow for Final Cut Pro X across multiple computers?

I travel on a team that is in a different location every week, so all of our video editing has to be fairly moble. We have 3 macbook pros and would like to use final cut X on all of them. What would be the best workflow for us all to work on the same project and sync it across the computers? (eg, one of us editing the footage, one editing the sound, one working on visual effects?)

My first question would be how well 5.1 would work with SL. People have reported problems.
As far as cameras are concerned, I would guess most any tape-based camera would work and so much depends on the kind of projects you work on that I wouldn't want to start guessing at your needs.
If you want broad access to tapeless and advanced formats try to locate and purchase an upgrade disk to 6 or 7.
    Good luck.

  • What is the best practice for APO - Demand planning implementation

    Hi,
M client wants to implement demand planning.
Cient has come up with one scenario like a New Customer is created in ECC, and if I use BI and then APO flow for Demand planning, user will have to wait for another day. (AS BI is always having one day delay).
For this scenarios user is insisting on ECC and APO-DP interface.
Will anybody suggest what should be the best practice for Demand planning.
ECC -> Standalone BI -> Planning area (Planning is done in APO) -> Stand alone BI
Or ECC -> APO-DP (Planning is done in APO) -> Standalone BI system
I hope I am able to explain my scenario.

  • What is the best method for storing/retrieving images?

    Friends,
    OS: RHEL AS 3
    DB: 9iR2
We have some critical situation. We need to scan all our Purchase orders and to store in our pc. we don't want to store the images in the database. it will be a big headache. We have 4 branches in different cities. All the branches are connected to our local network. We have novell server in every branches to store the oracle forms and the db is centralized in our head office. The purpose is to view any PO in any branch.
so,what will be the best solution for storing the images for our archiving?
    thanks & regards

Yes - a good quality external hard drive is the answer
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • What is the Best Approach for System Defined Fields and Default values

    Hi ,
Please let me know that what can be the best approach for providing a Default value for the System defined fields when creating a User and How can we hide the System defined fields at the time of User creation

You cannot provide default values for any attributes defined in the FormMetaData.xml file. You can only provide default values for fields defined in the User Defined Fields and supply a default value.
You can using entity adapters to populate some of the values, but you must supply an Organization because there is an entity adapter that you cannot modify that verifies the organization name.
