I am novice in ABAP. Please help me to understand the above coding portion.
Q. 1. Why sy-subrc IS INITIAL is checked before loop at....into wa... statement. If it is not checked there, what problem will occur?
Q.2. What does 'LOOP AT gi_afko INTO gwa_afko' statement mean?Does it mean that data of internal table
of afko being shifted to it's work area with each and every loop pass?What is the exact definition of internal table and work area? internal table is a temporary storage i think and what is work area?or what's the relationship between internal table and work area.
Q.3. what i've understood from the above coding portion that is data being read from internal table of mara to it's work area for the condition
matnr = gwa_afko-plnbez and then again 'sy-subrc is initial'
is being  checked. If sy-subrc is not checked here, what problem will occur?
Q.4. What's the meaning of the statement
'APPEND gwa_output TO gi_output'?
Please help me to understand.

Ans 1 : Sy-Subrc is INITIAL means ,
            The Value of sy-subrc is 0. If it is 0 the condition is satisfied and then it executes your LOOP AT statement
Ans 2  : While looping at gi_afko it moves one record into gwa_afko.
             gwa_afko will consist only a single record at an instant of time and gi_afko will consist of a collection of records.
Ans 3 : If this condition is not Initial the MOVE stmts will not get executed.
Ans 4 : The Record in gwa_output will be added to the Internal Table gi_output.

    you can try infoset query:
    STEP - A:
    1. Go to T Code RSQ02 and give the InfoSet name & select CREATE.
    2. Provide the Name(Description) and Data Source i.e. for eg here i take "DIRECT READ OF TABLE" = /BIC/AODS100. Then CONTINUE.
    3. Select what to Include in the 3 options available with the POPUP, here "INCLUDE ALL TABLE FIELDS". Then Check the fields and click GENERATE(one RED and WHITE round icon).
    4. Now provide the PACKAGE for the INFOSET. Come Back(F3).
    STEP - B: optional(If u want to create a new user group)
    1. Select ENVIRONMENT -> USER GROUPS. Provide the User Group name and CREATE.
    2. Provide Description and SAVE.
    3. Provide PACKAGE and SAVE. Come Back (F3) to the Initial Screen.
    4. Click Role/User Group Assignment. Select Newly Created User Group or an existing one. Then SAVE (CTRL + S). F3.
    STEP - C:
    1. Select ENVIRONMENT -> Queries. Provide the query name and CREATE.
    2. Select the INFOSET u have created and assigned the user group.
    3. Provide the Title and Select BASIC LIST. There you have to select (check) the fields you want to display, SAVE and then TEST. It will ask for Variant, just CONTINUE.

  • Copy Command in ABAP report

    HI Gurus,
    I have a ABAP report - basic list, with lot of batch data on it. based on the report they will copy the batch numbers and paste in standard transactions.
    Users complaining to do a Ctrl + Y and then Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V to paste the batch numbers.
    Is there anything we can do programatically using hot sopt on batch numbers so we get the selected BATCH and execute copy command programatically when they click on BATCH number on basic list.
    All they need to do is Ctrl + V on standard transactions.
    Is there anyway to achieve this?

    In any event why don't you just do a CALL TRANSACTION when the user double clicks on a line?

    I have an ABAP report I want to schedule in another program.
    Basically, I want to schedule it, so that it runs the next day (sy-datum + 1). I have used FM Job_open followed by submit and Job close, but the program is executed immediately.
    Below is the code snippet:

    2.7 Enter the correct variant name say" v1" and press continue
    2.8 press continue
    2.9 Select job start condition: "Date/Time" radio button and press continue
    3.0 Enter the scheduled date: ie, date to which the report to be executed and give the desire time
    3.1 press continue
    3.2 Press complete
    3.3 If success the report will be executed
    To see the output of the report

    3. Find ur job name .

    Create Report Categories                                                                               
    In this step, you define the report categories and determine the layout
       of the standard selection screen for these report categories. You can 
       create report categories for programs or queries that are based on the
       PNP or PNPCE logical databases.                                                                               
    The definition of report categories is divided into two sections:                                                                               
    o   In the Change Report Category view, you define general attributes 
           such as sort order, input fields for date, and so on.                                                                               
    o   In the Change Selection Criteria view, you define which selection 
           fields of the logical database should be avaliable on the selection
           screen.                                                                               
    Example                                                                               
    You want to set up your system so that your employees can only start  
       evaluation reports for Payroll if they use a payroll area. Within a   
       payroll area, you should be able to select according to personnel     
       number. Additional selection criteria should not be possible and you  
       should not be allowed to enter a sort sequence.                       
    Standard settings                                                                               
    The standard system already contains report categories. You can find the 
    attributes of the report categories in the table.                                                                               
    Note the following five report categories in particular:                                                                               
    o   Report category ' ' is the SAP default report category for     
        programs that are based on the PNP logical database.                                                                               
    o   Report category PNPCE is the SAP default category for programs that  
        are based on the PNPCE logical database.                                                                               
    o   Report category '00000000' is the customer-specific default category 
        for programs that are based on the PNP logical database.                                                                               
    o   Report category '0PNPCE' is the customer-specific default category

       If you activate this parameter, you can only enter data on the data
       selection period if you use reports that have been assigned. The   
       same date entries are then used for the person selection as for the
       date selection.                                                                               
    o   Matchcode allowed                                                  
       If you activate this parameter, you have use of a Matchcode        
       pushbutton (search help) if you use reports that have been assigned.
       This pushbutton enables you to perform the person selection.                                                                               
    o   Sort allowed                                                       
       If you activate this parameter, you have use of a Sort pushbutton if
       you use report that have been assigned. This pushbutton enables you
       to define a sort order before you execute the report.                                                                               
    o   Organizational structure allowed                                   
       If you activate this parameter, you have use of an Org.Structure   
       pushbutton if you use reports that have been assigned. This        
       pushbutton enables you to perform the person selection.

        You create selection views for the PNP and PNPCE logical databases 
        in the Object Navigator (SE80):                                    
        1. Start the Object Navigator (SE80)                               
        2. Choose Workbench -> Edit Object.                                
        3. Choose the More... tab page and the Selection view on this tab

        4. Choose Create.                                                  
        5. In the Create Selection View dialog box, choose the For any     
        tables option.                                                     
        6. In the Name of view field, enter a name for your selection view.

    8.  Save your entries.                                                                               
    9.  Choose the subactivity Permitted selection criteria.                                                                               
    10. Choose Edit -> New entries.                                                                               
    11. In the Select option field, use the input help to select each field    
        that should be available on the selection screen.                                                                               
    12. Select the checkbox in the 1.page column, if you want this selection   
        field to be available directly when you call the selection screen.                                                                               
    Further notes                                                                               
    13. If you want to copy entries, you still have to enter the selection     
        parameters again in the subsequent screen.                                                                               
    o   If you create the report category '000000000', a selection screen is   
        generated according to report category '00000000'for all reports for   
        which a report category has not explicitly been assigned.                                                                               
    Assign Report Categories                                                                               
    In this step, you assign a report category to your reports.                                                                               
    Example                                                                               
    You have created your own report, for example ZPCTEST1, and would like
        it to have the selection screen that corresponds to that of the       
        evaluation report for Payroll, which is assigned to report category   
        '__M00001'.                                                           
        Assign report category '__M00001' to the report.                                                                               
    Requirements                                                                               
    You must have defined the Report Categories.                                                                               
    Standard settings                                                                               
    SAP Standard Reports:                                                                               
    In the standard system, reports are assigned a report category. If you
        want to override these assignments, perform the activities described  
        here. If you want to assign report categories to standard reports using
        SE38, this represents a modification.                                                                               
    Customer-Specific Reports:                                                                               
    For reports you have developed yourself, you can either assign report 
        categories by performing the activities described here or directly in SE38.
    Recommendation                                                                               
    Only assign a report category if you have created your own reports or if  
    the selection screens in the standard system do not meet your             
    requirements.

    Hi Pradeep
    Main diffrence is BW works on multidimentional model or using OLAP for data stagging
    and r3 works on OLTP.
    BW reports seams like R3 ALV reports but BW reports are advance and used by higher management persons who want there data suddenly .
    BW reports took data from diffrent diffrent tools and generate very user friendly reports such as DB connect UD connect and Flat file .
    basically BW reports used for alalysis purpose for quick dission in R3 report u cannot see past data but in bw report u can easly pull data from r3 and stored it into cube for future use its main point .
    Aggrigate : Thes are used for performance after using aggrigate your query performance incress there are 3 thyes of aggrigate and those aggrigate play main role in performance issues,
    DTP are used for data stagging in BW3.5 its done by PSA ..

    This will be very difficult for you.....
    Since you are getting a time out error....it looks like, you are runnning this report in foreground....................
    Try running it in background it will work...
    ELSE....you have to fetch in small chunks....but the question is how will you do it. Since the USR02 only has BNAME as primary key...
    Either put the BNAME as part of selection screen and fetch the data.....it will solve your problem....
    Only fetch for those BNAME which is entered in the selection screen...

    There is no standard conversion available as such, but you can find out the Query Report name and then copy that to another program and make your changes. But it is preferable to just write it from the start as queries are notorious for their select statements.
    I don't know why you intend to write a report even though your query is working, but if you want to do it, write your own program. You can always keep the same selection screen.

    Hi,
    A report is a piece of logic that you write in (this case) in a programming language (ABAP). It uses the syntax of the normal commands of the PL.
    ABAP Query is a higher level tool, that reduces or eliminates the need to "program" in the PL, and rather uses more intuitive, graphic tools, to basically get the same results.
    Generally speaking, if the reporting needs are simple and standard, it is easy and feasible to use the query. The more complex the logic gets, the more you'll probably need to use programming.

          basically i work on abap and have no idea on BW. Can anyone tell me like how we can move abap reports to BW.
    Actually i have been told by the client that they have some reports which need to be moved to BW. I'm expected to work on it shortly. But i have no clues as to how it could be done.
    Please help  me out urgently.

    you may create a transport for the reports and related objects. Basis administrator can import the objects manually into BW.
    But: I don't know if this is of any help.
    Very likely, the client wants comparable results from BW reporting which is now retrieved by the reports in ERP. Not at all likely the same tables with the same data exist in BW.
    Let the BW people set up things delivbering the results asked for.
    Transfering reports won't help.

    During list processing, this statement sets the GUI title, specified in title, for the display window of the current list level and all following list levels up to the next statement SET TITLEBAR. The statement has - for the most part - the same syntax and semantics as for screens.
    In contrast to the screens of dynpros, each list level automatically remains linked to the title set for it. When you return from the display of a higher list level to the display of a lower list level, the latter is displayed with the title that was set for it.
    Check the HELP file of SAP before posting your queries.

               I have a business object to which a Custom Function Module is assigned in one of its method.This Function Module calls a Bapi to update a Service Order.I need to capture the status of Idocs regarding success or failure from the function Module in the ABAP Report.I would like to know if there is any way to call this business object from my report and get the status of IDOC.

    sorry I think i was not clear in explaining .I am calling a BAPI to update 'Priority' field of service orders in a custom function module(remote enabled) and I have assigned this bapi to a custom business object. Also I have developed an ALE interface thru BDBG transaction which automatically generates custom basic idoc type,messsage type ,Ale i/b and o/b function modules.
    Actually my requirement deals with a report where we have list of service orders in an internal table and pass each service order to update Priority field.
    Is there any way to create an IDOC from the report and update the priority field and pass back the status of IDOC.
    I have tried calling ALE O/B function function module generated thru BDBG transaction in my report but as a result i am unable to get any of the message whether idoc is created or not.

    In ABAP, there are a total of 7 types of reports. They are:
    Classical
    Interactive
    Logical Database
    ABAP query
    ALV Reports (ALV stands for ABAP List Viewer)
    Report Writer/Report Painter
    Classical Reports
    These are the most simple reports. Programmers learn this one first. It is just an output of data using the Write statement inside a loop.
    Classical reports are normal reports. These reports are not having any sub reports. IT IS HAVING ONLY ONE SCREEN/LIST FOR OUTPUT.
    Events In Classical Reports.
    INTIALIZATION: This event triggers before selection screen display.
    AT-SELECTION-SCREEN: This event triggers after proccesing user input still selection screen is in active mode.
    START OF SELECTION: Start of selection screen triggers after proceesing selection screen.
    END-OF-SELECTION : It is for Logical Database Reporting.
    Interactive Reports
    As the name suggests, the user can Interact with the report. We can have a drill down into the report data. For example, Column one of the report displays the material numbers, and the user feels that he needs some more specific data about the vendor for that material, he can HIDE that data under those material numbers. And when the user clicks the material number, another report (actually sub report/secondary list) which displays the vendor details will be displayed.
    We can have a basic list (number starts from 0) and 20 secondary lists (1 to 21). Events associated with Interactive Reports are: 1. AT LINE-SELECTION 2. AT USER-COMMAND 3. AT PF<key> 4. TOP-OF-PAGE DURING LINE-SELECTION. HIDE statement holds the data to be displayed in the secondary list. sy-lisel : contains data of the selected line. sy-lsind : contains the level of report (from 0 to 21)
    Interactive Report Events:
    AT LINE-SELECTION : This Event triggers when we double click a line on the list, when the event is triggered a new sublist is going to be generated. Under this event what ever the statements that are been return will be displayed on newly generated sublist.
    AT PFn: For predefined function keys...
    AT USER-COMMAND : It provides user functions keys.
    Logical Database ReportsEdit section
    Logical database is another tool for ABAP reports. Using LDB we can provide extra features for ABAP reports.
    ABAP Query Reports
    ABAP query is another tool for ABAP. It provides efficency for ABAP reports. These reports are very accurate.
    Transaction Code : SQ01
    Report WriterEdit section
    Key Concept :
    Super users and end users can use Report Painter/Report Writer tools to write their own reports.
    Giving them the ability to report on additional fields at their discretion shifts the report maintenance burden to them, saving SAP support groups time and effort normally spent creating and maintaining the reports.
    Instead of using ABAP code to write a report in FI and CO, many users build a Report Painter/ Report Writer library using transaction MC27.
    However, this workaround has some drawbacks. Little known transaction GRCT solves these problems in most cases, and eliminates the need to use transaction MC27.
    ABAP Report Types
    ABAP report types are those ones available in some report's attributes screen, i.e. :
    Executable program
    Function group (containing function modules)
    Include
    Interface pool
    Class pool
    Module pool
    Subroutine pool
    Also ALV means ABAP List Viewer. Most convenient way to use it is through reuse library (cf. transaction se83) available from release 4.6 of SAP R/3.
    ALV is available in two modes: list and grid. List mode is good old list processing with standard functionnalities, and grid mode is using a new OCX object displaying grids.
