Basic PHP Support with Live Preview

I use PHP includes when coding so I only have to code my navigation once, and then I can include it on other pages. Is their anyway to get this to work with Adobe Edge Code so I don't have to switch back to using .html files?
If not, I guess I could transition back, although, I really would rather not.

Component with Live Preview

There seems to be very little information on developing a
custom component with live preview.
So far i've created a swf whose application class extends
UIComponent.
I've also created a custom component.
Then I've added the Live Preview field in the custom
component's Component Definition.
What I would like to do now is reposition elements within the
preview swf when the user resizes the component.
To do this i need to know two things - 1 what event to listen
for when the user resizes the component, and 2 the current
dimensions of the resized component.
1. My only success was that ComponentEvent.SHOW seems to
dispatch when the user resizes the component. (i had no luck with
any of the RESIZE events - Event.RESIZE etc)
2. However the width/height properties don't seem to change
on resize, they stay at the original dimensions of the component.
Any ideas?

now I'm not certain about this under 3, but when developing
with under 2 with a live preview one needs to include a 'magical'
MC named 'xch' (instance name as well) that basically contains
'nothing' - it's a empty mc on the preview files timeline. there
are 'other' things as well however, in the live preview file one
must create a method named 'onUpdate' and assign a property of the
xch named 'instance' to 'this' (ref the timeline of the preview
file... previous to the method declaration) then within the
onUpdate method 'all' properties of the component and statements
within the method refer to xch.prop = blah blah, xch.otherprop =
blah blah
it's quite complicated and doesn't really make a lot of
sense, but that seems to be the way in which the working file
relates to the live preview file - ie. 'through' the xch clip which
triggers the onUpdate method
from what i remember, it's this mc that 'helps' the resize
event 'make' the connection between the event and the preview file,
seems to me that there was something else involved as well but i
cant seem to remember atm - I found this information in an article
on building components, however the page is no longer valid and i
couldn't track it down for you (it was a good tut too) sorry wish i
had more info for you.

How to change live preview browser

Everytime I use live preview on Edge Code, it says can not find Chrome. . . how do I tell it to open in Safari? or hell firefox if I want to? Simple thing can't find answers anywhere.

Unfortunately Chrome is the only browser supported for Live Preview at the moment. We mention this in the FAQ section but that text could probably use some updating. The main thing holding us back from supporting other browsers is that at the time we implemented Live Preview, Chrome was the only browser that had the APIs we needed to make it work. I know currently Firefox is working on something that might work for Live Preview but I don't believe the team has explored it in depth yet.

PHP Live Preview

I have my project folder set up correctly with the link to my localhost and everyting. When I click the live preview link, it does bring up the correct page.
However, it does not stay linked. I then have to either click the preview button again and open the page in another tab, or refresh the currently open one.
Is that as far as the php support goes, or will it support a constant preview link in the future, as well as the css highlighting in the browser window?
I really like being able to see where all my changes are gonna happen when I edit a css rule, but would not want convert all my php files (I am only using include tags) to html while I am doing this site overhaul.
*side note* I am taking an existing site and adding in responsive capability, which is why the live preview and css rule highlighting is so useful, if I was just making minor changes, it would not be such a big deal, but with a project like this it is really adding extra time in the long run.

It is not colored in at all.
I will click the lightningbolt and it will open the page, but the bolt goes back to being completly gray.
On HTML pages it will stay colored in fully, but not for my php files.
Also, quite frequently, if I leave the php file and switch over to say a css file, when I return (even tho it is not connected via live preview) it will close the browser tab completly. and I will have to reopen it.

iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, Puffin - are all browsers that MAY work for you. The iPad does not run Flash and never has. See if one of the browsers will suit your needs.

How do I properly set up Live Previewing (Brackets)

I just recently came across Bracket and I am super excited about it and can't wait to dive in. My problem right out the gate is I can't for the life me configure the Live Previewing to work properly. That is why I am here. I have read
Here is what I have done with my limited knowledge concerning setting up local hosting. ( I have always used Dreamweaver and never had to do this before)
I downloaded MAMP to create a localhost, I moved my website folder and files into the MAMP htdocs folder and labeled it AWD. If I type in local host in my browser it pulls up INDEX of/ AWD/ (folder), if I click on the folder it downloads a blank file, and that is it.
I have tried:
file:///C:/MAMP/htdocs/AWD/ - File not supported needs to be http:// (if I type this into my browser the site shows)
http://C:/MAMP/htdocs/AWD/ - This website is not available
http://localhost/MAMP/htdocs/AWD/ - Not Found
I found this on this Forum but can't make sense of the information.

First off, thank you for your help, I appreciate it. To answer your question no both http://localhost:8080/AWD/ and http://localhost:8888/AWD/ do not work. If I type just localhost in my Chrome Browser it takes me to an INDEX of / page and has one directory listed AWD. When I click on the AWD it proceeds to download a blank file.
One of the only things that has worked was typing file:///C:/MAMP/htdocs/AWD/ in my browser, which isn't supported in Brackets. I can type that in and it takes me to the overall AWD Directory and I can see all of my files. If I click on one of my PHP files it will show the page.

Grid with File Preview (custom layout) in Acrobat X Pro Portfolios

In Acrobat 9 Pro, there was a Portfolio layout called Grid with File Preview. We use it as our primary layout for PDF portfolios because it allows users to rapidly view PDFs within a portfolio. This was our primary reason for using Portfolios. Unfortunately, this important feature was removed in Acrobat X Pro resulting in clunky and very slow PDF viewing within a portfolio.
Is there a custom layout which emulates Grid with File Preview?

PDF Portfolios arrived out of the blue with Acrobat 9 and have been somewhat of an experiment - Acrobat contains some to get you started, but by also releasing the SDK it was hoped that the Flex programming community would have provided an ecosystem to support Acrobat users who wanted more choice - so just as you can buy or download hundreds of templates for websites, you could find them for Portfolios too.
Unfortunately it hasn't happened, and the technological landscape has changed dramatically in the past three years - the rise of HTML5, dominance of tablets/iOS, security concerns and Adobe's repositioning of Flash in the marketplace have all affected the commercial viability of Flex as a career, and consequently the availability of free third-party Portfolio layouts. It would have been nice to see a vibrant community of people sharing their designs, but the reality is that the majority of custom PDF Portfolios are created for enterprises as part of their brand identity, and there is an obvious cost involved in hiring one of the small number of expert programmers (of which Joel Geraci is the #1) to do the work.
Adobe has never claimed that the layouts which ship with Acrobat were the best/only way to do things - just as with the default presets in Lightroom, they're examples of what can be done. With Acrobat X it became easier for non-programmers to style the layouts (via Themes) but there's no escaping the basic fact that making a layout itself is a Flex programming job, and not one you'd attempt as your first chunk of code.
When Acrobat 9 launched, I saw pretty equal levels of complaints that the bundled layouts were too boring and too flashy. The target was shifted in Acrobat X to a less corporate style, but again people loved and hated them in equal measure. Given how much work is involved in writing and testing each layout, you can't expect Adobe to release a version for everyone.
There were legitimate reasons why the bundled layouts from A9 weren't included in AX. Speaking personally I don't expect my assessment to change: Portfolios may stick around, they may not - it depends on a mountain of bigger questions about Web standards, device popularity, politics and economics which Adobe have no control over.

How do I live preview a Ruby on Rails/Ember application?

I have a Ruby on Rails application and I am under the impression that Edge Code will work with locally hosted web servers to use live preview. I have set up the project settings to use the locally hosted address: http://localhost:3000/ ... However when I use Live Preview I receive the following error.
"Open an HTML file or make sure there is an index.html file in your project in order to launch live preview."
I have done so and I meet the criteria but it doesn't seem to work. Does Adobe Edge Code support this feature?

What's the file extension of the page you want to view in Live Preview? You may need to add it to the internal (not yet easily configurable) list of file extensions.

{text-rendering : optimizeLegibility} turns off google webfont in DW CS6 live preview (suddenly)

I'm currently working on two websites for the UN, based on Wordpress, child themes based on twentytwelve and twentythirteen.
I started to work a certain time ago on the child theme for 2012 which uses "Open Sans" fonts.
I don't remember having any problem with this site: everything was working ok, I made a few changes but nothing important.
I turned to the nd website based on 2013-theme, it works perfectly and DW CS6 is a real time saver for creating a child-theme, nonetheless...
This morning I turned back to the 2012-based wordpress site: every text was simply not displayed anymore... only in live preview in DW...
Even with the parent theme, the text was siply not displayed (so don't suggest my css code is bugged or what...)
After a while, I figured out it was not really a problem regarding the font itself, but with the CSS property "text-rendering" with value set "optimizeLegibility".
Commenting out this declaration solved the problem. Nonetheless...
1 month ago there was no problem. Then suddenly...
Is there a problem with the live preview mode and this CSS property? (indeed there is a problem)
Can we have a fix for this? I mean, an update for DW CS6 (not for DW CC) ?

Normally, according to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/text-rendering Gecko could take it in charge too, but seems to override this setting (a thing I can understand, Gecko is using a fast rendering engine). So you're right: at this time, it can impact only webkit/chromium engines. Which, as far as I know is the underlying engine(s) behind "Live Preview". And it does impact readibility in DW CC (it improves it).
Personnally I'ls better stick to the real CSS properties for kerning, alternative uppercases and ligatures, BUT the wordpress team seemed to think it was a good idea to use it (along with many other strange ideas such as using rem unit for the layout).
The real thing here is: some weeks ago, when I started to tune the 2012-based theme I use for this site, I'm pretty sure I was able to read the text in Live Preview in DW CS6. I wouldn't have chosen to use this theme with such an annoyance, else. So basically, it's really strange that suddenly this property has such an impact on the "live preview" mode of DW CS6. What I would really appreciate here is a small update/bugfix to DW CS6: I don't need this property to be taken in charge in DW CS6 as it is done in DW CC, I'ld just want this property not to impact the live preview.
Last : I mentionned an update of DWCC being possibly a culprit for this. How relevant could be this statement ? Are "live preview" modes shared by DW CC and DW CS6 ? (Even if, of course, this "bug" is not happening with DWCC).

We want to tell the screen reader to announce incoming events on ADF UI component. The aria-live tag can be used to tag screen elements as live or updatable.

1. Adding a "shadow/highlight" over a particular person in a moving clip
This requires the creation of a white circle that you slightly superimpose over the picture simply by putting it on an above track and setting the level of it to very low - just enough to see the faint circle.
It can be a graphic (same pixels as movie) quickly made in Paint or Photoshop or a camera shot of a white card.
If the graphic has a fuzzy edge then highlight edge will also be fuzzy.
Zoom and move it about as for your point 4
Trying to follow movement is a bit trickier as you would have to shift it at least 2 frames at a time.
Alternately you can use the chroma key effect except you insert the same picture in the hole as the background then reduce the level of the background picture to make it darker.(see help)
2. Being able to "tag" or add keywords to clips that I've edited in the timeline for See answers to your other posts
Whats wrong with an old fashioned simple notebook and pencil and note the time, changing it if you change it's position. I use one all the time - much quicker.
3. Repeating a clip in slow motion. Requires making a copy and slowing it down.
Set a break point at the beginning or end of the section to be repeated
Select and Copy the section
Paste insert it into the point where you want the section be repeated.
Select the new copied bit
Change it's speed
If you want normal speed audience noise instead of strangly slowed down or hollow sound you can first unlink the audio & video and place enough of a third copy of the original audio again in the audio gap that would otherwise appear.
(Note Many function are found by right clicking on various areas of the screen)
4. Zooming in on a particular portion of a clip.
Click on the preview screen and drag the markers to zoom or reposition to suit

Live Preview is not working for me

Live Preview is not working for me. I've read many other forums and tried everything and I still get the same issue that everyone else has mentioned. I'm on Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m . I have multiple user profiles with Chrome so not sure if that makes a difference.
Adobe Edge team, for a lightweight browser that should be easy to use, this does not make it easy. Hopefully you can implement a fix soon that works for all cases as I was really looking forward to trying this out and I'm unable to.

I am having issues as well.
Running through the intro tutorials - Just the basic HTML tutorial files. When initiating live preview, I restarted Chrome as prompted for debugging, After restart the preview page loads fine a single time, works for about 10 seconds or so and then disconnects. I cannot get it to reconnect without restarting the program, but the same thing happens.
Live Preview Error: Unable to Load Development Page
The live preview icon remains orange - as if connected, but no changes write to the preview window in HTML or CSS.
Ive seen the other threads, but none of those items seem to fix my issue.
Anything I can do here besides wait for update? Love the basic product - the editing features are awesome, but until live preview + reliable FTP is set, I'll probably stick with current coding solutions.

I want to install 16 gb ram but I don't think I can change the lack of video card. I wanted this basic machine because it has fairly long battery life. I don't need or want retina at this time. My model is the mid 2012 model. I am running the adobe collection for mac, I want to run the windows versions. Is it possible? What is the most ram I could access using something like fusion 5, assuming I could get fusion 5 to work? would it refuse to run because of the intel chipset and lack of video card?
If I'm wrong and there is a way to add a video card to this model, could some version of fusion and windows 7 access more than 2 gb operating ram?
What cost would I be incurring, and would it be cheaper to buy a windows laptop with more ram than I could access via a virtual machine?
I want to work on a client's work in the windows versions of the creative suite, with occasional usage of after effects for windows, and to use some web plug-ins only available in windows versions, and to try some windows-only video and audio software.

also, off track but, for years I have wanted a small machine that is more easily portable than my 15" machines. I have only had this used machine for a few weeks, but already I have been very satisfied and used it for presentations at clients. I don't want an air because I really want the dvd burner and player. No matter what apple says about wireless, there are decades of legacy work stored on optical discs all over the world, and I don't want to be unable to open something at a client's office because I don't have a dvd drive. Additionally, I have very large files I want to transfer via ethernet or firewire so that the transfer will take less time and be more secure than wifi. I resist apple's trend to make every machine a disposable toy that is viable only a year or so. I have read reviews that label the mbp it a poor value compared to the air. If all you need to do is text and communicate via wifi, many devices will sufice, and an air is certainly the most elegant. But what about the cost of large ssd's and protecting the drive against damage from shock? I want to be able to move this thing around and the small size is much safer inside my padded bag when I sit in narrow airplane seats, crowded trains and other congested spaces. I am much more likely to be able to borrow a large screen in a client's office ( with the use of one of the three adapters I had to buy) than to be able to borrow a dvd drive that has drivers for mac os 10.8.2. I suspect this may be the last generation of machines that have optical drives and ethernet, and that was why I purchased it so that I could continue to do work into the next few years. I am impressed by the retina display, but I need long battery life. And as beautiful as the retina display is, it is even more of a problem when trying to cross platform with the windows world. I wish I could infuence apple to do a trial product flow for a machine designed to work with 80% of the business world that uses windows. How spectacular that would be. With all their expertise and adept hardware design, to create a machine that cross platforms better than a windows machine itself works? Now that would be an accomplishment. Instead of 8 or 9 percent of the total computer sales, why not aim for a higher percentage? Smart devices will keep moving toward portable computers in power, anyway.

Fusion should work on your machine and if you put 16 GB of RAM in (see http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_160 0MHz_SDRAM), Fusion can access a good portion of that. Also, in a Virtual Machine, the guest OS is presented with Fusion's video card emulation, not what's in hardware on your Mac. Of course, finding Windows 7 now that Win 8 has been released could take some doing and the Win 8 Pro upgrade price is supposed to jump to $200 the end of the month. Add that to the price of Fusion and the extra RAM and you're beginning to get into the realm of low end real PC's.
As to cross platform, I assume you're aware of BootCamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461).

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.

Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached. Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.
