Basics of selection screen.

hello friends,
i need to create a selection screen, with following elements.
two fields as range start and end period,
1 field for date input in mm/dd/yyyy format.
two radio buttons with in a group.
1 field for taking file path.
can some one help.

I was looking at sample ABAP code in ABAPDOCU for learning ABAP objects and trying to replicate the smae in my own ZREPORT.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 100 AS WINDOW TITLE text-100.

I have following questions:
1) Don't I need to design screen 100 when I copy the standard ABAPDOCU code in my ZREPORT ?
2) If I change the screen 100 to 123 in the sample code like
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 123 AS WINDOW TITLE text-123.
PARAMETERS: button1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP grp,
            button2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP grp,

and then run the zeport, it gives an ABAP DUMP as follows:
"Program "ZOBJECT" tried to use screen 0100.
The screen does not exist."
But I am not using 100 now , I am using 123...

If you copy the code to a "Z" report...You should also copy the SCREEN in SE51....If you change 100 for 123 you should also modified that in your copied SCREEN.
Look for the CALL SCREEN statement inside the program...

How to create a report with selection screen that can run in background

Sorry to ask these basic questions but I am knew to ABAP Programming.
To keep it simply, I am attempting to create a report that has a simple parameter driven selections screen with one field. That field takes in a folder path from the user. The user executes the report. The report creates a simply BDC that goes into SE16, gathers data from a table, and exports the results to a text file using the folder path provided. I created a variant for the folder path field in the selection screen hoping to use it while executing the report in the background. The report is not exporting the file as it did when run in the foreground for some reason.
I am wondering what event is triggered when a report is executed in the background. In the foreground (or when I execute the program via SE38->Execute->With Variant) the user needs to execute the program by hitting the execute button once the variant has populated the folder path field. It works then, so I am trying to get the same to work in the background. I am thinking I didn't put the program together correctly to accommodate the running in the background. How can you create a report that can accept user input via variant into a selection screen and then run in the background?

Ok, finally I understand what you're doing. Initially you lost me with the SE16 reference...
Not sure what you're trying to achieve overall, but apart from the fact that you cannot export/download a file to a user's PC via background job (unless you have a mapped network share on the server or something like an FTP server on the user's PC, but both are pretty hypothetical scenarios and unlikely to occur).
Also, the BDC approach to get data via SE16 is pretty awkward. Note that SE16 is guarded by some authorization checks and often users won't have access in production (which might not matter if you intend to always run your program in background via dedicated batch user). However, I have no clue why you wouldn't want to use [open SQL|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABENOPEN_SQL_READING.htm] to read the data. You could then save it on the application server or if you really have to get it to the user you can consider e-mailing the file (extracts should be compressed before sending). For the latter you'll find plenty of references here, basically it's the [business communication services|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/2d/1c5d3aebba4c38e10000000a114084/frameset.htm] that you'd need to look at.

Displaying selection screen details in Alv Report output display as Header

May be somebody knows how I can show selected values with select-options in top_of_page using REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.
This shoud work for all the reports and diff selection screens .
I need one dynamic process which will for display any report selection screen selected details.(Basically varient information of report).

My selection Screen is a very big one. It contains around 30 select-options.
So is their any standard method in which you can choose whether you want to take the output printout with or without Selection screen.

How to accept multiple attachments on selection screen?

Hi All,
I need to know how to accept multiple attachments on selection screen and send them as email to external system (outlook).
Basically, my req is to send a common email with attachments to certain users. These users are displayed in ALV. User will select ALL or specific user from ALV and send an email with message entered on selection screen.
I used text editor control to input message body. I need to know how to accept attachments and send them.

SAP uses a nifty little button called 'Object Services' on ME23N (top left) which you can use to attach documents to business objects.

It's a complicated way of doing it but might give you extra functionality in the long run.

How to put a value in a selection screen parameter

how do i forcefully put a value to a field in the selection screen.
i mean during runtime.
and it's a parameter not a selection-option.

How to use table field values as dynamic parameters on selection screen

Hi,
I need help on dynamic selection parameters.
I need to display no. of parameters from the fields of a database table.
Basically i want to pass field values of a table to selection screen and we can use those values as parameter on selection screen.
If there are 10 entries in a table field( say field is field_name and entries are bukrs,kunnr etc.)
I need to display as many parameters on screen as many values are there in field_name( In this case it is 10)

Selection Screen

Hi gurus,
I have a condition where I need to upload the file to my program, the file may either come from the system or from the application server, so basically I need to ask user from which way it is coming and then if the user entered that its coming from the computer then I need to ask him the location of the file and same as in the case if user selects applications server,
So far what I know is that first we need to use the radio buttons to ask the user to select either of the option and then as per his selection we need him to enter the file location. For this I tried the below code and this code allows me to select either of the option and now I have two more concerns, as soon as I select the radio button which says that file is coming from the server I should ask the user to enter the file location. I believe this could achieve by using CALL FUNCTION 'F4_FILENAME' and once he selected the file location then I need to upload that file using the function module WS_UPLOAD, so can you please tell me how to get this thing done.

You need to change your internal table structure as per your file format.

Logical Database selection screen pushbutton

Hello All,
I need to create a pushbutton on a selection screen of a logical database. Basically this pushbutton when clicked will either display or suppress some fields on the screen. I have tried to use the SSCRFIELDS option to create a pushbutton, however that never displays for me. Logical Database DDF has an example of a pushbutton that I am looking to create, however the functionality will be different. I am not sure what I am missing, can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks for your replies. However, there is something that is causing these options not to work. For some reason when using SSCRFIELDS nothing displays. For the SELECTION-SCREEN PUSHBUTTON command, we see the push button however our code for some reason is not working. I have another developer working this with me and we are both stumped. We are mirroring that DDF Logical Database and are not having any luck so far. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

Selection-screen in the output of the program

Hi,
I want to print the selection criteria ( or Values ) in the output of the program on the RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HEADER. I am doing code through ALV and I want to include the respective code in 'TOP_OF_PAGE'
If there are no values in the selection screen fields, then I DO NOT Print them. Start the values with the texts, such as 'Material', 'Plant', 'MRP Controller' etc. For single values, print the values separated by commas, For a range of values, print the values separated by '-', For the exclusion of single values, print 'EX' before the values.

Selection-screen navigation process required immeidately

Hi all,
I am having a program, if i execute that we will have 3 radio butons like basic data,
financial data, tax related data of the customers. when i select one of the radio buton and execute one selecion screen 500 will be displayed. selection screen 500 is common for all the radio buttons but based on the radio button some of the fields will be disabled.
what my problem is when i select one radio button and gave values in the selection screen , for the valid values it will display the data in the grid format. and i come back to the selection screen ,I have a situation where if the valid value is entered and there is no corresponding value for that selection i need to go back to the same selecion screen and a message should be displayed.
HOW TO HANDLE THIS?

How to capture the values selected at selection screen

Hi.
I need some basic idea reg. to capture the selected values at selection screen into an internal table.
for example.
Selection-screen having the following fields,
Grade1....a1
grade2..a2
grade3..a3
grade4..a4
grade15--a15
Now i want to get the values of grade into an internal table.. so that i can create dynamic table based on selected values
a1 a2 a3 a4 a5...

use function moduel
