1)What are the various middlewares used by SAP. Why is XI better than any other middle ware?
2)What exactly are Product, software component and software component version.?
3)When exactly is "Party" used?
4)How to transfer the objects from one system(for e.g : Development) to another( for e.g: Quality)?

1   What is SAP Exchange infrastructure?
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) represents the process Integration layer of the Netweaver stack.
XI can be termed SAP's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) Software. It enables you to implement
cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in
different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each
other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture and uses open standards (in particular
those from the XML and Java environments).
SAP XI runs on the Web Application Server (WAS).
SAP XI mainly drives to reduce the TCO by reducing the integration and maintenance cost of the systems.
It provides a central repository for all the interfaces. One of the main features of XI is predelivered
Integration content i.e. to say that for mostly all my SAP and Netweaver components, business content that
includes the message type, the interface, business scenario, the business process patterns etc are made available. Also in case of third parties partnered with SAP, the contents are made available. Another feature, cross component BPM helps us to model business processes and scenarios across business. Even B2B integration allows to integrate to a partner or a different business. Industry standards such as Rosettanet, CIDX etc are thus supported
2. Architecture of SAP XI.
SAP XI is not a single component, but is a collection of components that work together flexibily
to implement Integration Scenarios.It includes components that are used at Design time,
components used at Configuration time and Components used at runtime.
2.1   The System Landscape Directory
A central repository of information about software and systems in the data center.
2.2   The Integration Builder
It comprises of the Integration Repository and Integration directory.
u2022     Integration Repository is used for the design and development of Interfaces, Process
and Mapping objects that make up an Integration Scenario.
u2022     Integration Directory is used for configuring scenarios to be used in the customer landscape.
2.3 The Integration Server
This is the actual runtime of XI. All messages are processed by the Integration Server in
a similar and consistent way. It comprises of
u2022     The Adapter Engine running on the JAVA Stack and consisting of many JCA adapters.
u2022     The Integration Engine running on the ABAP Stack which process message in a consistent way using a series of pipeline steps.
u2022     The Business Process Engine running on the ABAP stack where the Integration process or Business Process Management ( BPM's ) are executed.
2.4 Central Monitoring
To monitor all components comprehensively at runtime.

Basic question

Hello, i have a basic question. if i have defined 2 fields in a cube or a dso:
Name Quantity
and from the external flat file i get some characters for my quantity field. would my load fail? for standard dso and for write optimized?
NOTE: quantity field is a keyfigure defined as numeric.
and the load coming in has "VIKPATEL" for Quantity field and not numbers.

Hi Vik,
Yes, the load will fail.
May be you coud first load this data into BW (into PSA) and set both fields as characters fields. Then you can create DSO, do transformation from this PSA to the DSO, and put your logic as to what do you want to do with those Quantity that is not number (e.g. convert to 0, or 'Not assgined', etc).
You can use transfer rule, or a clean up ABAP code in the start routine.

I'm having a problem in calling the Java Applet's Function from Visual Basic. First, I'm getting the handle of the Java Applet and components of it using "Document.Applets(n)" which is a HTML function. I'm calling this function from Visual Basic. My code is something like this...

Disappointed by missing basic functionality

I recently started working with Muse, and got frustrated by the fact that there seemingly is no Show/Hide functionality.
Also, am I correct to say that there is no direct import for Mp3/4 media? If so, why not?
Lastly: if InDesign can have basic animation options, then surely it wouldn't be so hard to include it in Muse.
Muse works great, but I am quite disappointed by this lack of basic functionality.

Thanks for your response.Yes I agree with you - I put my expectations in the fact that Muse is developing fast.
However, what I'd regard as a very basic feature for any interactivity (show/hide), is missing. Instead of having abutton that can show or hide icons on a map, I now I have to create a duplicate of the same page that don't show them. So when a user click the button, another page first has to load!

How to install Windows 8.1 Enterprise on Ultrabook which came with basic Windows 8.1

Hi,
I guess I'm not the first one with this question but anyway...
I've got 2000EUR expensive Ultrabook recently, and what's interesting it came with Windows 8.1. Just standard basic Windows 8.1, not Pro or Enterprise.
Obviously I needed to upgrade it with larger SSD 1Tb and install Windows 8.1 Enterprise as I need Hyper-V and other Enterprise version functionality on day to day bases.
I was surprised that I can't do so as SLIC is reverting Windows 8.1 back to basics!!!
.. so my question is - How can I can Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64Bit on to very expensive Ultrabook which came with Windows 8.1?!?!

Enterprise edition of Windows Client OS, is not available via OEM and not via Retail - it's only available via Volume Licensing agreement.

1) What is the reason for using infotypes with different way(not the same way as in ABAP) of saving the records the database is used in the ABAP-HR Programming?

I am trying to learn ABAP-HR and found that many things that sound different in HR-ABAP can be achieved through normal ABAP below are the some
    1) Infotypes - I had read some where that records get saved horizantally (record1 record2 record3) instead in a vertial save ( record1
                                                      recordn).
       Why is that this type of database design is adapted. Ofcourse these are called repeate structures I guess.
       Why is that infotype need to have self built database table, internal table and structure?
       This is being already handled in Normal ABAP by creating internal table refering database table/structure.
      So my 1st question in the previous to know what is making infotype different than normal way of having a internal table.
    2) Macro - is the precoded select query but that is already coded in TRMAC. My question over this when we can have select query what is the need for the precoded stuff?.
      For example why to have "RP-READ-INFOTYPE" on some Infotype when this can done through Select * from TABLE pA0*** where field1 = 'xxxx' .

I always try to have strong foundation/understanding of the basics and post the questions to know the differents views (approach of thinking of other ABAPER's). Many times the response provide me very...very valuable stuff and this is the frist time that I have a response that is different from Grath & Sameer. But I guess any response that posted to question which is related always related to ABAP is definitely going to be helpful in one or the other way (may for having good understanding or for preinterview..or some thing else) .

Basic functions (high) in query formula for highest # of days past due

I hope you can help. I am trying to create a formula in a query for FIAR Line Item Cube (0fiar_c03). I would like to calculate the hightest number of days past due for open line items. There is an operator 'high' in basic functions within the query formula. Is it possible to use this?

There is a workaround usind conditions.That is you can try to filter the top 10 % or top 10 after calculating the no of days past.However this way you will not be displaying complete dataset

Can not select the VISA library (visa32.dll) as a reference from Visual Basic.

I have a copy of Labview base package version 5.1.1 and Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 in my PII 333 128M PC. I like to use the NI-VISA feature to develope my own testing program by using Visual Basic. However, the NI-VISA library (i.e. visa32.dll) can not be found from the Visual Basic reference library.

Go PROJECT | REFERENCES menu. In the list, look for "VISA library".
If the list does not show it, then BROWSE the visa32.dll located in the
WinNT\SYSTEM32 folder.
If the VISA library is earlier than V2.x, there is no TypeLib supported.

View document in material master, Basic data 2 screen?

How to view a DIR assigned to material master - basic data 2?
According to help.sap.com:
Additional Function for Material Master Record:
In Customizing for the Material Master, you can define a standard document type by choosing Make Global Settings.
- Done this: assigned document type needed, created a DIR with that type and assigned it to a given material
Documents of this standard document type are displayed in the material master record, in the Basic data 2 view (Extras ® Document data).
- Information of the DIR can be seen in the main screen, no path Extras --> Document data (I know DIRs are shown behind menu path Additional data --> Documents)
You can display the original application files of a document (for example, an engineering/design drawing) directly from the object (for example, material) using a display application (viewer).
PROBLEM starts here: no icon or button to click in order to view the document although the help states so.
Any idea what should be done? Should I install a software of some sort to view? Assign it somehow with SAP? The document type here is doc (MS Word), so nothing special.
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Sorry, I think I described the problem inaccurately.
I could see the document already but for that I must follow the path Additional data --> Document data.
My core question was: Is there a means to allow a user to display the document directly in the screen Basic data 2 since system creates a new subscreen called Design documents assigned anyway?
It seems that the design documents assigned is for information purposes only. It would have been far better with usability to have the display icon in the main data.

Basic Report Run from a PL/SQL Procedure

I am hosed trying to start a BI Publisher report from a PL/SQL procedure. Basically, I have a procedure with a local variable defined as an XMLType. I need to call an RTF source, pass the xmlfile in and tell the RTF Engine where to send the output.
The users guide implies that it involves calls to a Java program and I am totally ignorant of Java.
I have successfully linked the RTF source into the XML_Publisher application and previewed it against a known data set. hat works.
So, if I have a PL/SQL package with the local variable L_XML defined as XMLTYPE
and an output file L_OUTBUT defined as VARCHAR2(100), what do I use to call the RTF Processor and generate the report to the output file?

I don't think you can. The parameters passed to a VB dll are formatted differently than a C dll, especially strings. I know a C program has to use special data structures when working with a VB dll, and this is basically what Oracle is doing.
It should be possible, however, to create a C dll that acts as a wrapper for the VB dll. I'm not sure this would save you anything, though. If you have to do that you may as well write the function in C.

Basic system struggling with Standard Def MPG files

We built two news editors about 6 months ago and needed to build both computers for $1200. These were replacing two old Avid Newscutter XP systems from 2004...
Because we were shooting DVCAM on DSR-250 camera's or to .mov/.avi DV files on nNovia QC Decks on the camera's, the files were basic DV 25Mbps content in SD.
Based on the System Requirements of Adobe for Premiere CS5, I didn't feel I needed to build these as top end machines at the time.

Looking back at it now, and after reading a lot of posts, these systems are on the low end. Guess that is how Adobe gets more people to buy software, make it look like it will run on what you have, after you shell out the cash on the program you realize you have to upgrade hardware too..
The systems have been working great for the SD footage we needed them for. We are not going HD anytime soon as our entire studio, routers, switcher, CG, playout system, studio camera's and pretty much everything else would need updating. So I wanted editors that were more user friendly and would handle what we were working with and that is what I got. Figured in 3-5 years when HD comes along for us it will be time for entire new system on CS7 with 30 cores, 1 TB of memory and such... (More's Law)...
So new twist to the issue. We were having a lot of issues with camera's dying the last few months. It was getting hard to keep the DSR-250s working and even though I can buy them for $1000-$1500 used off of e-bay and they are in way better shape than ours, they were big, bulky and our reporters "one man band" it a lot and two of the young women are just shy of 5 foot. You should see a petite little reporter lug a huge shoulder mount camera up onto the tripod and run it when it is bigger than them.. Really funny!!
So I pushed for new camera's and found the new Sony HXR-NX5U met all our needs in that it is a Z1/Z5 style camera (smaller format) but has "NO TAPE"...Shoots to SD cards and a 4 GB class 2 gives 58 min each in SD.
It will shoot HD as AVCHD 24Mbps files and does SD as Mpeg-2 and 9 Mbps with AC3 audio. I demo'd a camera from Sony and did a lot of testing with it, I played a few clips on the CS5 systems and everything seemed ok. They did require a quick render and I think that has to do with the Mpeg-2 compression. It is about 1/4-1/2 time render so a 5 minute clip will take 1-2.5 minutes roughly to render out. Playback is ok even when not rendered but the video looks fuzzy on the CRT monitor looped off of our Firewire DSR-11 DVCAM deck. Not a big deal, they can edit and render at the end before dumping to tape.
Problem that came up today (we just started using the new camera's this week), when I went to diagnose system crashing, I found a simple news package on the timeline. Maybe 40 small clips, edited into a package, with simple edits. It was already rendered but I noticed the fan on the system was running fast which only happens if the CPU is working hard. (Front Case Fan 120mm is on the CPU fan header PWM control, CPU fan is on Northbridge fan connector non-PWM controlled) So the CPU fan (stock) is running at full speed but I used the MB temp monitoring to control the front fan so I could have a quiet system when it is not working hard.
That led me to open the task manager. I found that the CPU is running along at 94-98% for both Cores. Ram is ok as Premiere was using about 1.8GB of the 4 GB in the system. I checked the other system and it was doing the same thing.
What is odd, is premiere is just sitting there with a timeline open, mpeg-2 clips on it and me not doing anything it stays at 92% continually. I even close the project so I am out at the "new project" "Open Project" screen and no change. If I hit exit, then the CPU drops right away down to 7% and is fine. Open premiere back up into a project and CPU goes right back up. During a timeline Render it is 100%.
We are able to edit and they seem to work but it is causing the system to run Hot and is running the CPU at near max all the time. I added two more 80mm fans out the back that will help pull more hot air out.
Is my chip way to slow for mpeg? is there a setting that I must change to optimize editing mpeg-2? I am assuming it is the work to decode the video on the fly, something the DV video didn't require so much CPU for. I am not using GPU acceleration as I do not have a card that supports it even with the hack that I know of. And GPU Acc. doesn't work for DV firewire output either.
I am considering the following:
1. Buy larger aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock my chip as many say this "Black Edition" with an unlocked multiplier is a breeze to overclock up to 4 Ghz range. (but still only 2 cores)
2. Buy a replacement 4 or 6 core processor to replace it (also with the better than stock Cooler from above)
The only problem is having to spend so much money on additional hardware.
I am also going to optimize Windows 7 on these editors as I think Areo is running and other none essential things.
The big question is why is it maxing out when doing NOTHING????? Is it just trying to build that freeze frame on the screen as it is a picture between the I- frames? (i.e. not a real frame of video but one created by decoding the info of IPPBPPIPPBPPI etc.)
Any idea's/help would be great. Anyone else using this camera and the SD files? I didn't think this would be an issue as I had read post that people were editing this kind of stuff on CS3 a few years back. Can't believe it would cause a newer system so much grief..

Your problem is the same in every industry. One can increase productivity and reduce hazards or improve working conditions (like less bulky and heavy cameras), but only at a price, by investing in new technology. I understand competely now that these systems are too slow, Adobe's own specs are way to low. I knew I was on the low end but the problem is we built them for DV so I wasn't expecting them to do much more than that. According to Adobe, I was in the (recommended Spec, not even the minimum...) If I was wanting to attempt AVCHD right now I would start over, but the desire now is to edit .mpg clips. It seems to be able to do that but when we have a few on the timeline and they are rendered the CPU just maxes out for no reason. But I have trouble duplicating it myself...
Today I went in and there was one .mpg clip on a timeline. I checked the CPU and it was running at 98%. I closed that project, started a new one with standard DV NTSC same as the reporters. Imported the same .mpg file that was on this reporters project. I placed it on the timeline just as she had it and did some cuts and worked with it for over 5 minutes. Rendered it all and the CPU looked fine, maybe 40-50% in bursts. Playing it would cause it to go up some, stop it would go down. Could not get it to do what it was doing for her. Closed my project re-opened hers and boom CPU to 98% again.

You can see here is where opening her project caused the spike. Then not doing anything with Premiere it just floats along the top...
Media Cache on E:\ Drive, same as the project and .mpg file. 1 TB 7200 RPM drive.
Proceses that are running, mspaint only running as that is what I did the paste of the Alt+Print Screen to grab the task manager with.

Regd Wagetype and basic pay from 0008 thru internal table in smartform..

I have a requirement where i have to display in my smartform the values for basic pay and different wagetypes from infotype 0008. In my smartform for 1 employee, only those values of wagetype and basic pay should print which are maintained in 0008. If no value then it should not display in my smartform at all (No even like 0.00).
For this i have made an internal table in my smartform. Plesae advice how can i pass these vales in my smartform.
Note* - There is a filed in my custom inftyope 9003 - "Salary details as on (P9003-ZZDATE1). The value for basic pay and wagetype should be less than or equal to this date.

From your thread ,what i understood is that you have created a able in the smartform.right?You can loop this table and put a condition for checking whether there any records in the internal table.

Basic if statement in formcalc..

Im trying to do basic validation, if sum is between 0 and Total Available number then its ok, display the sum, other wise dosplay some popup, at the moment I want only "1" to be shown since I cant pass even that basic scripts.
I get an error "near token &". It doesnt matter if I switch "this" with field name, "TotalAvailable". All fields are numeric of same type.
Please advice.

Sum() works fine, Jan, Feb etc are names of NumericFields.
I have holidays chart where user puts overall number of days available for him as free from work in field named "TotalAvailable"
in fields named after each month, Jan, Feb etc.. user puts how many days he will use for holidays in given month
In "TotalTaken" field I add all the days user took in any of given months.
With that if statement I want to check if Sum(..) is not bigger than TotalAvailable number, if is bigger then error (or just "1" for now as I have to much troubles with simpler tasks)
Ill try to use your tips and see what comes of it, thank you. Still any advice will be helpfull.

that's not quite simple if you have no idea about servlets and jsp.....
best would be you read a little bit... check out pdf.coreservlets.com where you can download a very good ebook that explains the basics of servelts/jsps....
that after you should have a look at jdbc...
