Batch adding Timecode Track into a Quicktime file

Hey,
Anyone have any idea how I can batch add a timecode track to a heap of Quicktime files and make the timecode 01:00:00:00 on each?
I have a hundreds of quicktime files from a Canon 7D, and it doesn't create a quicktime file with a timecode track. I know I can do it easily within FCP but only one clip at a time, it would be nice to do it in one go.
Thanks,
Gus

A little late at the party, but nevertheless...
This (free) tool lets you batch add TC to a bunch of clips, including custom reelnames.
http://www.videotoolshed.com/?page=products&pID=42
HOWEVER, it does NOT allow you to add THE SAME TC to all clips.
(As i believe that is totally nonsense. In order to get good media management you need different TC's.)
It can do Rec run style (thus, numbering up) or Free run style (using the shoot time for TC, the shoot date for Reelname)
hth,
Bouke

  • How to export subtitles create in DVD Studio Pro into a Quicktime file?

    Hi,
My film was edited in Final Cut, then exported to DVD Studio Pro to make dvds. Subtitles were added in DVD Studio Pro.
I need now to make a Quicktime file of the film for web streaming and the file still needs to include the subtitles (or the option to make them appear)
but how can I export the subtitles (dvd studio pro type of files) to my Quicktime file, for streaming?
I read that this is possible but how?
    Please help!!
    Thanks!
    Paula

A DVD uses VOBSUB aka. idx/sub format subtitles which are bitmap images. QuickTime itself does not support this format but Perian can sort of allow them to work. However firstly Perian is Mac only, and secondly I would not expect this work in a web-browser. In fact I don't think there is anyway to control subtitles in a web-browser.
If you have the subtitles in a text format, preferably .SRT format, then you may have more options but again I would think you would still have problem in a web-browser.
In general terms, the best utility for adding text subtitles to a QuickTime compatible file is iSubtitle details are available here http://www.bitfield.se/isubtitle/index.html
What would be possible would be to 'burn' permenantly the image of the subtitles in to the video. This means they would always be visisble even in a web-browser but could not be turned off. You would also be limited to a single language. There are several tools that could do this including Handbrake (to convert directly from the DVD), and SubMerge also from Bitfield.
There are some tools for Windows that use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to convert the bitmap subtitles in to text ones.

  • I added several tracks into my itunes library but they will not play?

I added several tracks that came off a DVD burned in my brothers Itunes program. Now, my Itunes library shows the music in both numbers and space used. Now when I try to play the music it will not play? Can anyone advise me as to how to make the music play in my Itunes program?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads with the same problem then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • How to make timecode track in transcoded file match original

Using Compressor 4.1.3, when I make an H264 QT from a DNX36 QT, the timecode track does not replicate properly.  The first frame of timecode repeats for a frame which makes every frame after that read as one frame earlier than it is in the original file.
For example, the first frame of the original file is 01:00:00:00.  In the H264, the 1st and 2nd frames are 01:00:00:00, and the 3rd frame is 01:00:00:01.  The 3rd frame should be 01:00:00:02.
The DNX36 is a QT Reference movie exported from Avid MC 7.0.4.1.  I am reading the timecode on the QuickTimes using QuickTime Player 7.6.6. This works correctly with Mac OS 10.7.5 and Compressor 3.5.3.
The system I'm having the trouble on is Mac OS 10.9.4, Compressor 4.1.3
Any ideas on how to make the timecode track of the transcoded file match the original?
    Thanks.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. Is a string child the contents of a node treated as text?
If you are trying to match a child node regardless of case I doubt this is possible as the XML standard says an XML document is case sensitive so if your parser ignored case it would not be XML complient.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems adding Text track to .mov file

I am having a problem adding a text track to a quicktime file. I want to overlay text onto a PAL DV file. The original file size is 720 x 576 but when I add the text (as per the instructions in the QT Player Help) instead of having the text overlaid, it appears next to the Video image and gives me an image size of 1325 x 577. If I now export this as a "PAL DV" file, QT Player shows the whole 1325x577 frame whilst FCP accepts the file but shows only the video part of the frame.
I'm running QT 7.4.5 on a MacBook Pro with OS10.5.2. I have tried re-installing QT without success - this maybe because the Preferences seem to stick when upgrading/re-installing (?)
Any thoughts, help or, better still, a definitive answer to my problem would be most welcome.

Use the Movie Properties window to size your added text track to match the 720 width.
For viewing a DVD on a TV size it even smaller (700) and set an offset value of 10 pixels so your text doesn't get cut off during playback.

  • How do I extract multiple tracks from a CD into a single file in Audition CS6?

I use Audition to edit my Pastor's messages. The message CD is made with five minute tracks. I want to extract the tracks from the CD into a single file for editing and altering the track lengths. I have done this before in Audition CS6, but I haven't been able to find instructions for it. I only found a note stating this is available in AuditionCC.

I have discovered an answer to my problem. The way to bring multiple tracks into Audition CS6 from a CD is to use the FILE / OPEN APPEND / TO NEW command. This brings the separate tracks into a single file in Audition CD6. Thanks to everyone who commented.

  • Grainy Output When Outputting h.264 into QuickTime File in Premiere Elements 12

I have a video project that I need to output into a QuickTime file. I would like to use the h.254 codec in the file, because that would make it the most versatile for all of the places I will be using the video. However, when I use Share > Computer > QuickTime > Advanced... and use these settings:
    Codec: H.264
    Quality: 100%
    Frame Size: 1080x1920
    Frame Rate: 29.9 fps
    Field Order: None (Progressive)
    No bitrate limit
    Audio Codec: AAC
    Sample Rate: 48000 khz
    Bit depth: 16-bit
I wind up with a terribly grainy and muted-color video. I have used these same settings in Share > Computer > AVCHD and end up with a great video. Is there anything I can do to output the nice quality into .mov?

  • How to export all tracks into audio files with the same duration

    Hi everybody.
I am trying to export all the tracks into different audio files.
It's 10 soft. instruments and an audio track. I tried with "File>Export>All Tracks as Audio File but the result is 11 audio files with different lengths. As the song is 3 minutes and 20 seconds I would like every single track to be 3.22 sec long.
How do I do it? In fact, each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
    Thanks!!

The files are different lengths because each instrument does not stop playing at the same moment. It would accomplish nothing other than waste disk space if Logic appended silence to the end of each file in order to make each track the same length. The different lengths you see mean nothing because the absence of appended silence means nothing.
each track is composed not only by played instruments but also by moments of silence.
Naturally. And that silence is accounted for in your exported files, when the silence appears at the beginning of the track, and when it appears during the track. It just isn't appended at the end because that would be pointless. Consider this project, consisting of four tracks:
When I use the command File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, Logic will produce four files that look like this:
The files are not equal in length, which is perfectly fine. What's important is that they all start at bar 1, and will align properly when imported into some other program. So all you need is the command you already used: File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files. In one step, it will produce all the files you need, and it will produce them correctly.
By using Bounce, you would be gaining nothing except extra work, because you would have to do it separately for each file you wanted to produce. With Export > All Tracks as Audio Files, you get all your files with just one command.
    iSchwartz wrote:
exporting tracks means that any panning or automation will not be rendered. So if you want the engineer to put up all of your tracks at unity gain (all faders at zero) and have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, use bounce, not export.
If you want to have your tracks & stems reproduce the mix you're hearing at your studio, there's no need to go to the extra effort of using Bounce instead of Export. You only need to enable (in the Export dialog) the checkbox "Include Volume/Pan Automation." This is explained on p. 1022. When you do this, any panning or automation will indeed be rendered.

  • How do I get an embedded quicktime file to appear "activated" w/playback & volume upon opening PDF?

I am new to adobe acrobat, and I'm using version 8.  I am trying to insert quicktime videos in a PDF File.  I have figured out how to insert the video files and embed them in the PDF.
However, when I save the PDF, close it, and then re-open the it, the quicktime file does not appear.  If I don't use a poster image, then it is just blank where the file is, but the file is there, and when I click on the empty space where I know that it has been embedded a dialog box opens about playing it just this once, or making it a trusted file, etc.  Then it plays, and the volume and playblack controls, along with the background, are visible. (it is actually just an audio track in a quicktime file, so nothing is playing but the audio, and the background is solid black.  I have set it up so that it stays there once activated.
What I want is for the volume and playblack controls and the black background to appear as soon as you open the PDF file, without having to click in the blank area where the file has been inserted.  This is going to be part of a portfolio that I am submitting for a school program, so I need the person that is opening it to be able to clearly see where the file is, and see the playblack and volume controls so that he can playback the file.
So how do i get the embedded quicktime file to automatically show up in "activated" mode, with the playback and volume controls visible and ready to be used?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks...

If the video is only linked it would reduce the file size of the pdf and it would make it accessible for people opening on a device (like iPad) which does not allow flash which must be installed with Acrobat to view embedded media.
But I would recommend to send the people only a link to the PDF. I hate it, when my iPhone filled with useless stuff, if I would like to see it I could donwload, but as attachment make my space overfilled.

  • Quicktime file audio won't render in FCP

Hi and please help if you can
I have converted the windows media video files (with the extension .asf) into a Quicktime file using Quick Time Pro and Flip4Mac. I am trying to use the converted video in FCP, but when I import the converted quicktime file into FCP and I render the clip, the video will render and play fine, but the audio will not. I am getting the unrendered audio beeping sound. Did anyone encounter that problem before? Any advice.
    Thank you in advance.

Try a one minute "cut" from your .asf file and export to DV Stream.
Too many Windows formats do not follow anything except M$ formats and can't be converted from a Mac. Maybe try the export from a Windows box?

  • Mergin two audio tracks into one without hardware

    Hello i'm Michele from Italy.
I'm trying to develop a system to merge two audio traks together but at moment i didn't find a good solution.
I guess the object javax.sound.sampled.Mixer seems to need an hardware audio card (wich is not present in remote servers) and this class http://www.jsresources.org/examples/MixingFloatAudioInputStream.java.html
do the job with poor results, no pan is avaible, stereo is not supported well.
may someone help me to use one of this classes in right way?

As for Mixers, I do believe that there should always be a software mixer installed on the system, but I'd be worried about throwing a Headless exception if you're running them on a remote server.
If you're okay with using JMF, then there is an example program that merges tracks into a single file...

  • Exporting a quicktime file on 4:3 format, preserving 16:9

I'm trying to preserve my 16:9 footage when exporting into a 4:3 quicktime file 720*576
My footage is shot on 16:9, I have edited on a sequence that uses 16:9.
I'm exporting using quicktime conversion, I'm selecting all the settings needed. I need the film to be viewable on 4:3 because that's the requested format of the screenings (it's a video art presentation).
I'm clicking on the preserve aspect ratio using letterbox, but instead of geting a 4:3 foramt picture on the quicktime, the letterbox squeezes the frame into a square thing...it's as if the letterbox goes on the right and left side instead of up and down of the frame...
I managed to export the film into a quicktime file 720*576 16:9, but what I really need is a quicktime file 4:3 that shows my film in 16:9 with letterbox bars up and down...
    how can I do this?

  • Files downloaded turn into QuickTime files and not iTune Files!

    Hi folks,
I am downloading some songs from mp3search.ru (very very cheap mp3 site) and they are downloaded as iTune files (which is what I require), however, when they download fully they become Quicktime files!
I now have to change them individually to be opened with iTunes but they remain QT files!!
How do I stop QuickTime from being the default and dictating itself as the main MP3 player?!
    Thanks
    Tc

well, today I browsed iTunes, happened to find something I liked and thought I'd give it a go..
    After checking this bit:
    Import in An Instant
To import songs into iTunes, just insert a CD into your computer and click Import CD. Or set up iTunes to automatically add music when you insert a CD. Either way, iTunes imports music in a snap. iTunes saves music from your CDs as high-quality AAC files — a format that builds upon state-of-the-art audio technology from Dolby Labs. But you can choose different audio formats, too. iTunes lets you convert music to MP3s at high bit-rate at no extra charge. Using AAC or MP3, you can store more than 100 songs in the same amount of space as a single CD. iTunes also supports the Apple Lossless format, which gives you CD-quality audio in about half the storage space.
then registering an account I felt sort of confident, not in the lack of looking, the information is just hot air anyway rwitten by halfwits, but this was what it seemed..
    BUT LOW AND BEHOLD,
    None of this happened
I end up with M4P files.... *** are those...
Burning my new purchase onto a disc didn't work in my stereo
I'm really p*ed off about this matter, measly 10 $ maybe, but the disappointment in being aggravated this way adding to increasing dismay, that you don't get anything face value from practically any commercial company anymore, seriously gets my fumes going, cos I could have gone to the record store, taken care of everybody and probably walked out with two great discs for the same price and half the time I spent sorting my anger
I'll say it again, software designers stay the f* out of my way and start doing your jobs and provide the service you advertise using the KISS principle... stop jacking around
H*ll even the buttons in here don't work, trying to highlight in italic the quote from iTunes store...
Someone explain me how I get, as they state I could and should, buying my record in the iTunes store and get it on a CD so I can play it on my stereo, cause as we all know the G5 comes with f* all speakers..
Kind regards with a bird to all these internet scams

  • QuickTime file into iMovie?

I am trying to burn my Keynote speech with slides into a DVD-R so it can be replicated and sold.
So far I have created a QuickTime file of the speech (recorded timing) - now I think it needs to go into iMovie so I can

    Burning Keynote presentations in iDVD
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2936
Contributor Old Toad has added the following excellent advice:
To get the keynote presentation into an iDVD slideshow that you can advance slide by slide with a DVD player remove you need to convert each Keynote slide to a jpg file.  To to this go to the view all slide window, select all of the slides and type Command+P to start a print job.
While in the print window click on the PDF button at the bottom and select "Save PDF to iPhoto" from the drop down menu.  That will create a 200 dpi jpg file of each slide of the presentation.
Next add those slides to a slideshow in iDVD and select slide duration to Manual.  Now the finished DVD is played the DVD player remote will control the advance of the slide.
I suggest you follow this workflow to create the DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
As far as having no menu you must have a menu to fall back into once the presentation has finished.  If you want just a black screen use one of the old themes like Brushed Metal, Burlap, Sage or Graphite and put a blank, black image file in as the background.  You will have to have a button or text button in the menu so choose text and set the text to black if you want a fully blank menu.  Be sure to set the highlight color for the text button to black also.
Finally follow Klaus1's method of dragging the slideshow into the autoplay bin while in the Map mode so the slideshow will start automatically when the disk is inserted into the player.

  • How do I combine separate audio and video files into one Quicktime movie?

I have DVDs that contain separate audio and video files in folders marked Audio_TS and Video_TS. I would like to know how to combine these files into a single Quicktime movie. Is there inexpensive or shareware software that imports and unites these files reliably? A simple solution is preferred, rather than getting into complex media editing applications.
    G4 eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Doug - the VOB files (in the VIDEO_TS folder) are MPEG-2 files. MPEG-2 have the video and audio mixed into the one file - there are no audio files to combine.
The rest are directions to a DVD player (e.g. the BUP and IFO's) . The AUDIO_TS folder is used for DVD Audio discs and on video DVDs is always empty.
Many people use Handbrake or iSquint to convert VOB to iPod video though MPEG Streamclip is the best - open the first numbered VOB and it will prompt you to open all of them. ALWAYS fix timecodes when it asks. You can then edit/trim and export to MPEG-4.
