$batch in Hana xs
I have an xsjs file which would make an HTTP call for GET/PUT/POST and delete.
But the same does not work for $batch.
I'm doing $.request.body.asString()
I feel $ batch is a multipart request and hence the method
$.request.entities.create should be used.But I'm still not able to find a concrete example
Can anyone help with this
Thanks,
Hi Aparna,
Why are you using xsjs for CRUD ? you could have used xsodata instead . If your intention is to post multi line data, you can try the below.
Transferring complex structured data from UI to XSJS - POSTing JSON

InDesign Conditional text batch export with TOC update
Hello Everyone,
I'm just getting into the scripting, so bear with me please.
I have an indesign document with several conditional text variations and a generated Table Of Contents. I've found -hans-'s batch exporting script which works perfectly, BUT, in my document there are conditional headings too, which have their impact on the TOC of course and sadly indesign's toc update is not live. So all I need, is add a line (or 2) in the script that selects and updates the TOC for me before exporting each PDF. I've tried labeling the TOC text frame (with script label) and invoke a menu action on it, but I think I didn't get the Syntax right. I guess for someone experienced this is a really simple task.
Here is -hans-'s Conditional text batch exporting script:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4764443
thanks for your help!
wood1yHi,
Thank you for your answer. This is my syntax so far. All I did to -hans-'s script was, I tried to create a variable with a text frame that has the "TOC" label, select it with a .select action (found it on a forum) that doesn't work, and tried to invoke the update toc with app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(71442).invoke(); which doesn't work either. So yes, as I told you, I'm a beginner.
var nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse = 'DiscManual' //please don't forget to set!
var currDoc = app.activeDocument;
var currFilePath = currDoc.filePath.absoluteURI + '/';
var currFileName = currDoc.name.replace(/.indd/, '');
var currConditions = currDoc.conditions;
var myTOC = currDoc.textFrames.item("TOC")
//set all conditions visible to false
currConditions.everyItem().visible = false;
l = currConditions.length;
//cycle thru conditions
while(l--){
currCondition = currConditions[l];
//set actual condition visible to true
currCondition.visible = true;
currConditionName = currCondition.name
//select TOC
myTOC.select();
//update TOC
app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(71442).invoke();
//set pdfName
var exportTo = File(currFilePath + currFileName + '_' + currConditionName +'.pdf');
//Have a look here:
//export PDF. to choose backgroundexport. use the second line of code
//currDoc.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false, nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
currDoc.asynchronousExportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false, nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
//set actual condition visible to false

Hi
I have Csv file in UTF-8 format have fields like data
2012/02/23, XXXXXX( all 2byte characters),........................................
When i import it says invalid number for 2012/02/23.
I created table like this
Create column table Schema1.table (
SHOD DATE,
MANUD DATE,
and
Create column table Schema1.table (
SHOD VARCHAR(10),
MANUD VARCHAR(10),
both does not allow me to store data into table..any idea please.
Regards
MagalingamHi,
If you are using the .ctl file to import .CSV files into HANA, the default source date format is YYYYMMDD. However, if say your source format is in the YYYY/MM/DD format for e.g... you can change your IMPORT statement as follows:
IMPORT FROM '<file_location>.ctl' WITH THREADS 16 BATCH 200000 DATE FORMAT 'YYYY/MM/DD';
It is worth noting the SYTAX of the IMPORT statement as you could transform TIME and TIMESTAMP fields similarly:
IMPORT FROM [<file_type>] <file_path> [INTO <table_name>] [WITH <import_from_option
_list>]
<file_type> ::= CSV FILE | CONTROL FILE
<file_path> ::= '<character>...'
<table_name> ::= [<schema_name>.]<identifier>
<import_from_option_list> ::= <import_from_option> | <import_from_option_list> <import_from_option>
<import_from_option> :: =
THREADS <number_of_threads> |
BATCH <number_of_records_of_each_commit> |
TABLE LOCK |
NO TYPE CHECK |
SKIP FIRST <number_of_rows_to_skip> ROW |
COLUMN LIST IN FIRST ROW |
COLUMN LIST ( <column_name_list> ) |
RECORD DELIMITED BY '<string_for_record_delimiter>' |
FIELD DELIMITED BY '<string_for_field_delimiter>' |
OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '<character_for_optional_enclosure>' |
DATE FORMAT '<string_for_date_format>' |
TIME FORMAT '<string_for_time_format>' |
TIMESTAMP FORMAT '<string_for_timestamp_format>' |
Thanks,

As FI-CA consultants, what can we expect from SAP HANA?
Hello dear colleagues & experts,
I'm a FICA consultant and almost all of my clients have the same requirement in their wish list: real time accounting & processing in FICA. With FICA we have to run batch processes at night (jobs) in order to see the results next day for a number of important business processes (payments, refunds, write-offs, dunning steps, interests, correspondence...). In consequence Account Balance Display (FPL9) for customers it's always behind at least one day (t -1).
Iu2019ve read that in-memory database (HANA) will turn the company into a real time enterprise; does it mean that FICA will work in real time? or can we expect that jobs will run faster if HANA is implemented but still as a batch process that runs every night?
Regards,
JCHi Tomas, thanks a lot for your message! I'll try to answer your questions here:
I am untouched by FICA - can you please explain how exactly this works? I guess these jobs are running in ECC and they store result in ECC, correct?
JC: Yes, you're right. FICA is part of ECC and handles almost all advanced features for Collections & Receivables. It's pretty important for industries like Utilities or Public Sector (among others) where you have to deal with millions of clients every day and you have to keep track of your account receivables, your incoming payments and your dunning steps, client by client.
Is it about reporting or rather about processing some ECC things over the night?
JC: It is about processing ECC things over the night.
If FICA processing is executed in ECC and it is not about reporting - then I am afraid you will have to wait for HANA to be supported as base database for ECC...
JC: Do you have any idea of when is it planned to be released (HANA for ECC processing)? are there plans to release it?
Thanks again!

A Script for Conditional Text Batch Export
Hi, I was directed into this subforum with this question:
I have a document with nearly 200 versions of conditional text that has to be individually swapped out and exported to pdf. I genearlly just do this one at a time all the way though.
Is there a way to batch the export of these pdfs? I've been scouring the internet for a soultion but can't seem to find one. I am on CS4 still if it matters. Thanks!Hi,
no Problem Take a look at the exportline too. you can choose between backgroundexport and normal export.
var nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse = 'MyPdfPreset' //please don't forget to set!
var currDoc = app.activeDocument;
var currFilePath = currDoc.filePath.absoluteURI + '/';
var currFileName = currDoc.name.replace(/.indd/, '');
var currConditions = currDoc.conditions;
//set all conditions visible to false
currConditions.everyItem().visible = false;
l = currConditions.length;
//cycle thru conditions
while(l--){
currCondition = currConditions[l];
//set actual condition visible to true
currCondition.visible = true;
currConditionName = currCondition.name
//set pdfName
var exportTo = File(currFilePath + currFileName + '_' + currConditionName +'.pdf');
//Have a look here:
//export PDF. to choose backgroundexport. use the second line of code
currDoc.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false, nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
//currDoc.asynchronousExportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false, nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
//set actual condition visible to false
currCondition.visible = false;

Hi,
Has anyone tried loading data records to HANA DB 1.00 Build 20 from the CTL files provided in https://wiki.wdf.sap.corp/wiki/display/HANADemoenvironment/HowtoloadCOPAdata ?
It was work on HANA DB 1.00 Build 15 but not with New Build...
The procedure was exactly the same
The creation of Tables is done but i have this error with import data with each csv files:
Command with HANA Studio (Build 20):
load from '/tmp/export/TCURT.ctl' threads 4 batch 1000;
Error:
Could not execute 'load from '/tmp/export/TCURT.ctl' threads 4 batch 1000'
SAP DBTech JDBC: [257]: sql syntax error: line 1 (at pos 3643214585)
I tried also: load from '/tmp/export/TCURT.ctl' -> same error...
We have all privileges on the tmp folder and files
I tried also to copy new data from source...
Do you have an idea?
Thanks for advance for help .
Best regards,
Eric MGHello,
LOAD TABLE command was not public - full syntax was never mentioned in any SAP guide on help.sap.com or Market Place (except SAP HANA Pocketbook-DRAFT). Therefore it is SAP internal syntax that can be changed anytime. And I guess this is what happened. Command is either deprecated or having different syntax.
If you need to import CVS file I would suggest to use official way - either IMPORT command (which was also not very public before but since SP03 it is mentioned in SQL Script Guide) or best using SAP HANA Studio import functionality (just be sure you use CVS as type of file).
You can find explanation of both ways in this blog:

Dear All,
Can anyone, please explain me clearly the difference between BATCH and VALUATION TYPE in MIGO and PO screen?
What is the link between them ? pls explain in detail....
Edited by: Raju on Nov 17, 2008 8:02 AMHi,
There's a link between both which is the indicator "Valuation type is set automatically". It can be set at the global or local (plant) valuation category.
When you set this indicator, it means that each batch itself represents a valuation type (individual batch valuation). In other words, a valuation record is created automatically for each batch at Goods Receipt.
-Edited-
Example scenario:
I activated batch management at plant level for material A and also activated split valuation. For this material, I produced the first batch (100pieces per batch) with certain characteristics. This batch is valuated at $100 per piece. I do a Goods Receipt against Production Order.
Then my next production batch has better characteristics, so I wanted to valuate a piece slightly higher. With the indicator "Valuation type is set automatically", I can set a different price for this second batch during Goods Receipt from production (because a different valuation type is created for this).
So I make use of batch management to manage my different sets of 100 pieces due to the slight different characteristics during each production run. I also make use of split valuation and the above indicator to valuate each batch separately.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

We are in early investigation around SAP HANA and trying to understand how this impacts our business processes. Have a few questions where some additional input would help.
1. What happens to existing tables in ECC. Do they get automatically migrated to Column store format as part of new Data Model or is that something that we as customer need to decide between Row and Column based storage as part of migration?
2. Current processes such as MRP and Billing leverage the ABAP processes in App server quite a bit. Post HANA, we understand the DB operations are much faster. So, what happens to current long running jobs such as billing - are they optimized for HANA or do the processes remain the same ABAP based?
3. What is the persistence layer for the data? In addition to holding the data in memory - is it persisted in disk somewhere for failover? (Kind of similar to APO livecache where the data is written to planning cubes)Vicky,
thank you for looking into SAP HANA as your database for your ECC system.
We have a comprehensive FAQ for SAP Business Suite on HANA with lots of additional details:
http://www.saphana.com/community/learn/solutions/sap-business-suite-on-hana/business-suite-on-hana-faq/content
Quick answers to your questions:
1. The migration effort is fully automated, most tables are converted to columns tables and all ERP cluster tables are being de-clustered during the migration to SAP HANA. SAP HANA Studio allows you to choose between column or row tables for custom applications, but for the SAP applications the choices are made by SAP.
2. With regards to batch processes and also dialog processes, SAP provides optimizations with SAP HANA. Some are automatically available (like instantaneous SE16 look-ups), some need to be activated in the IMG for example, and others are only available as innovations, like sFIN for example. sFIN is available either as add-on for on-premise or as cloud applications in public or private cloud deployments.
Details for optimizations can be accessed here: https://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-59889
More information about s-innovation are presented in the TechED keynote form Berlin 2014.
3. Currently SAP HANA still has a persistence layer outside the DRAM, which is called the SAP HANA storage and which is provisioned by SDD and/or HDD. Once HW vendors will provide non-volatile memory we do expect further simplification, as SAP HANA writes first to in-memory, and only in a second step to the persistence layer to guarantee ACID capabilities.
thank you

Hi,
Will HANA support Bulkload like oracle has bulkload and vertica has copy command
Regards,
Manoj.Hello,
.. you can make IMPORT FROM '/<path>/<filename>.ctl' faster by adding WITH THREADS <thread_num> at the end
Yes - I know - there are more options like BATCH - all described in SAP HANA SQL Reference Guide - page 119:
https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000604922011
.. but in my understanding it is still INSERT-based command. The bulk loader utilities usually bypass SQL layer as a performance bottle-neck and insert data directly into the data pages or at least directly into table partitions, or using some similar performance-improvement techniques
Aha... you mean Direct Path Load functionality in Oracle:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci13obn.htm
I am not sure how exactly IMPORT FROM command is coded but following syntax seems to be interesting (also explained in SAP HANA SQL Reference Guide - page 119):
WITH TABLE LOCK
Locks table for fast import into column store tables. If WITHOUT TYPE CHECK option
is specified, then the record is inserted without checking the type of each field.
Probably not as fast as streamed load into data segment but probably best HANA can offer...
Would be interesting to ask SAP for details how exactly this is implemented.

Can't use filter when accessing hana table through link from another table in sapui5
Hi all,
Have a strange one and I was wondering if someone had come across this before.
Hana table structure
entity SalesOrder {
key element name : String;
element contact : Association[0..*] to Contact via backlink order;
entity Contact {
element location: Location;
element order : Association to SalesOrder;
==
each sales order has a number of contacts.
In javascript, if I bind on list of contacts directly then I can use the filter
oRowRepeater.bindRows("/Contact",oRowTemplate,null,[new sap.ui.model.Filter("location",sap.ui.model.FilterOperator.EQ, "Germany")]);
and if I enter link i returns the number of entries
Contact/$count?$filter=location eq 'Germany'
But if I get contacts through the sales order it doesn't allow me to use the filter,
oRowRepeater.bindRows("/SalesOrder('mike')/Contact",oRowTemplate,null,[new sap.ui.model.Filter("location",sap.ui.model.FilterOperator.EQ, "Germany")]);
I can return the contacts same as accessing them directly and i can get the information such as
new sap.ui.commons.TextView({text: "{location}"}) same as before but only difference is that i can't filter.
When I try the following I get error
/SalesOrder('mike')/Contact/$count?$filter=location eq 'Germany'
Error
"message": {
"lang": "en-US",
"value": {
"type": "ODataInputError",
"message": "Bad Request URL: U"
When I open Chrome Developer Tools I see the following error
SalesOrder/contact/$count?$filter=location%20eq%20%27EMEA%27 400 (Bad Request)
Basically the $count doesn't work if you access contacts indirectly even though the link is there.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Hana is sp8, I am up to date with almost everything.
Many thanks,
Matthewfor the reading/writing from oracle to access, you could do something like this:
for table in oracle/access with fields of id(number), name(varchar/text):
Connection oconn = //connect to Oracle
Connection aconn = //connect to access
//create the insert statement into access table
PreparedStatement apstmt = aconn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO accesstable (id, name) values (?,?)");
//select all the results neeed from oracle table
Statement ostmt = oconn.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = ostmt.executeQuery("select id, name from oracletable where...");
while ( rs.next() )
apstmt.setLong(1, rs.getLong(1));
apstmt.setString(2, rs.getString(2));
apstmt.addBatch();
//if your driver doesn't support batching, just use this:
//apstmt.executeUpdate();
//use this only if you use batch statements
apstmt.executeBatch();
rs.close();
stmt.close();
apstmt.close();
oconn.close();
aconn.close(); -
Batch List Columns Confirmation
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to confirm something in regards to batch lists. Either myself, or the AC will be creating batch lists in Excel on set. My question is, can you create columns (as long as they are exactly as in FCP) for take/shot, angle, etc?
I know the standards are Name, Media End, Media Start, Reel. However, after reel, can I create a column for scene, take/shot, etc?
Thanks In Advance!

Helllo, I have a query regarding HANA roadmap. SAP is going HANA with BW on HANA and then HANA live. I do not know about side cars like what are they? If my company buys HANA live and BW on HANA, what should be our reporting strategy? like how should we distribute our reporting? should we throw everything in BW or should we keep some stuff in ECC? Currently we have CRM, SRM, ECC and BW. I need some suggestions like what other people have done. Any presentation or material will be appreciated if provided.
Thanks.Yes Venkat, Majority of the Info Cubes can be eliminated in BW on HANA. Info Cubes primarily store aggregated data, which HANA is capable to calculate on-the-fly using HANA views. So you'll save space(no need to store pre-calculated aggregates), time(no load time) and effort (no InfoCube maintenance). Make the most use of HANA views and Virtual Providers.
Side-Car means running a parallel system (a secondary second system with filtered set of data) on HANA DB for reporting purpose. Data needs to be fed in to the Side-Car HANA system and that can be done in two ways. Either as a batch job using SAP Data Services or as a near-realtime trigger based data replication using SLT.
Check out these links. These provide more details on Side-Car approach as well as other deployment scenarios...
